MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at 7 Makrygianni Street at the Acropolis Metro stop which is just around the corner from the Acropolis Main Entrance. PLEASE NOTE: If selecting the 'First Entrance' Tour option, your meeting point is: Acropolis Canteen, Athens 105 58, Greece Our tour visits the Acropolis either in the morning (First Entrance Option) and afternoon 'Golden-Light' period, to both get ahead of the coach tours and heat of the day, but also to experience the lights effects on the Monuments of the Acropolis. The special light in the afternoon heightens the honey-colored hues of the ancient temple's marble, as well as being the best light in which to experience some beautiful panoramic views over Athens.
Still in a good state of preservation, one of our first stops is the Ancient THEATER OF DIONYSUS. Built in the 4th & 5th century BC in a natural amphitheater o nthe slopes of the Acropolis it would have had an impressive capacity of 25000, it is considered the world's oldest. Amazing to think that many of the most famous Ancient Greek plays would have had their original premieres here!
Ascend towards the monumental gateway (Propylaia) and entrance to the Acropolis. As the Temples of the Acropolis come into view, the Ancient Greeks would have been greeted by an enormous decorated Bronze Statue of the Goddess Athena. As legend has it, the tip of her upheld spear could be seen by incoming ships in the sunlight.
Built around 420 BC, and one of the earliest temples of the Acropolis, this Classical Ionic Temple was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and is largely restored, with a prominent position overlooking the City.
The second largest temple of the Acropolis, the Erechtheion was Dedicated to both Zeus and the Goddess Athens and your guide will illuminate some of its wonderful Mythology and main aspects such as its impressive statues that you will now see in the Museum.
The pinnacle of the 'Golden-Age' of Classical Greece, this temple was an unrivaled mastepiece of Art, Architecture and Engineering as well as the heart of Ancient Greek ceremony and worship in Athens. We Take time at this most important temple with an overview of its construction, mythology and Historical importance.
Built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this stunning Marble amphitheater continues as a working theater to the present day.
ENDING YOUR TOUR. After completion, your guide will leave you in the Acropolis so you have more time to enjoy the views & take photos.

Eva was a delight! So knowledgeable and thorough in her knowledge of not only the Acropolis but Greek history/culture as well. The pace was enjoyable, and we have tons of beautiful photos to remember
Despite rainy weather we thoroughly enjoyed our tour with guide Vicki. She was friendly, clear-spoken in English, very well informed and fun to spend time with -- perfect! It was also an easy pleasure to schedule the tour with Warm Penguin. David was very clear, responsive and flexible in booking the tour. We highly recommend this tour.
Our guide was excellent. Met us right on time. Provided lots of history and gave good advice on other activities we should consider (or not) while we were in Athens.
Vicky was amazing. She was on time, started the tour by getting to know us, and had a lot of insight into history, mythology, and even the socio-political and socio-economic dynamics in Greece. She made stories of the past relate to the future, weaved personal experiences, and was incredibly engaging. Honestly the best tour my husband and I have been on.
My tour guide was prompt and kept us on track for the allotted time of the tour. She gave so much historical information and also allowed stops for great photos!! Highly recommend this tour of the Acropolis when you’re short on time!
Vicki, tour guide, is amazing! Very knowledgeable and thoroughly engaging. Well worth it. Great tour!
We chosed the last tour at 6pm, which was really golden time. After 6pm, the tempture is lower, acropolis is not very crowded, and is so beautiful during sunset. Also the guide is knowledgeable. Since no others were in the tour, the tour became a private tour for me and my wife. I really enjoyed the stories about acropolis and its architects.
It was the perfect time of day to go. Vicky provided excellent information about the acropolis. This tour was great for teens to older adults.
We absolutely loved our sunset tour of the Acropolis. It was easy to find the meeting point and our guide Betty was there early and we set straight off. Betty was very knowledgeable and gave us so much insight into the history of The Acropolis and Athens. The time of the tour was perfect being 6pm start time. We were able to stay in The Acropolis until closing. We would highly recommend this private tour.
Vicky was our guide and she was phenomenal. We took this tour with our kids (9 and 8). She kept them engaged the entire time and gave us recommendations for other things to do in Athens. The length of the tour was absolutely perfect and I learned things I had never heard before, despite having taken a group tour about 14 years ago. Highly recommend for families.
knowledgeable, thoughtful, safety aware, experienced, kind, bright, positive, approachable, timely, and more!
The perfect way to see the sights of Athens. Our tour guide Anti, was such a wonderful storyteller. She brought the history and mythology to life for us and our 2 twelve year old girls. The last stop at the taverna was great too.
Ava was not only thorough but helpful with historical facts. We all enjoyed her humor and information. There were however a couple of times when it would’ve been nice to just breathe it all in without all the statistics and information. Truth be told she asked a number of times if she was talking too much…it just felt wrong to say so…
Great guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. Worth going on a private tour to have the best experience
Way overpriced! Did not include acropolis tickets. Food not good. Guide very sweet and informative but should be half the price and should include cost for acropolis!
The best time to visit the Acropolis is at sunset, when there are fewer people and the site comes alive in a golden glow. We had a great tour with Eva who shared with us her broad knowledge about the ancient city, peppering her explanations with Greek history, mythology, and cultural insights. She gave us ear sets that enabled us to hear her explanations as we followed behind her or even seated a few meters away from where she stood. We were given ample breaks to rest and she recommended the best photo spots along the way. She warned us several times to stop her from taking too much but we were all keen to listen to what she said during our 2 hour waking tour. Highly recommend this tour with Eva.
We had a wonderful time learning about the history of Greece, Athens, and the Acropolis with our wonderful guide Eva (I hope I spelled that right!). She was knowledgeable and entertaining, and really made us feel at home in her city. We had one traveller with mobility problems, and she was very sensitive to that in helping us all get to the top. We all agreed that it was our favorite experience on the trip so far, and we thank Eva for that! Definitely go at sunset if you don't want to get up early. We took many beautiful pictures and even got to see them remove the flag at the end of the day. All in all, a wonderful time. Thank you Eva!
Our tour operator, Jacquard, was a font of information on the culture and history of the acropolis and Greece. It was a great experience. So glad we booked an expert archeologist for our tour.
Our tour guide Eva was very thorough. She was very friendly and enthusiastic about Athens and the Acropolis.
We had an excellent day. Our guide was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. She was also an excellent photographer! Quick pictures that were perfect. Thank you for educating us as well as entertaining us
A great way to see the Acropolis and learn about it's history and Athens. Our guide Vicki provided a rich and interesting background of all the sites we visited. A perfect time of day to go.
Everything was perfectly organized and on time. The tour itself was friendly but rather listless. It was not much taken into consideration and the program simply unwound. You kind of felt like it was the end of the season (although it's season all year round) and the motivation wasn't too great anymore. From our point of view, price and performance are therefore not suitable and we cannot give a more positive review.
