Never got to do experience due to ticket booking system. Told we had tickets however at entrance, we were refused and told what we had was not a ticket just a voucher. We are elderly people and not computer-savvy. We had used viator to make things easier but turned out to be a total disaster- it would have been easier to buy ticket on site (and cheaper) on the day! Do not understand why you make it so difficult to get a printed ticket, every other company we have booked with have provided necessary ticket. We never got to see the acropolis due to your booking system- lost money, total waste of time!

Ticket and audio download was easy. We printed the ticket in advance. Ticket was PDF so it could have been pulled up on phone as well. At entrance the staff just scans the QR code on the ticket. Viator also sent multiple links and reminders through email which was nice.
Be prepared to walk and climb alot of steps. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath. But the view is amazing.
We booked a tour with a live guide and audio and received notice to meetup at 9:00 with no further information. We got there and could not find any guides from Key Tours. I called them and they sent our tickets by WhatsApp and told me the guide came in the other entrance ( we were at main entrance). They described the guide and basically said good luck. We never found her. Worst Viator experience I’ve ever had. I asked for a partial refund- no response. Will follow up with them again when I return from Greece.
Panos was the greatest, he gave us an in depth history of the gods of Athens and the Pantheon before we visited the ruins. Then he guided us through the city of Athens, with detailed information about each historic site. He was cordial and patient.
It is hot in July at noon!!! But so worth every step and drip of sweat! Took the 6 year old all the way and she was a champ!
Book with caution. Flights and customs are often delayed into Greece. This company is not flexible with uncontrollable flight delays, and when calling their representatives, they do not assist. Our reservation could’ve absolutely been adjusted with their guidance and help. Instead they left us unassisted the day of our arrival and we lost hundreds of dollars.
Keep in mind buying tickets at the gate is only 30 euros, which is far less than this costs. Nothing wrong with this, but its nothing special. It basically let's you skip a line waiting for a ticket at the gate and but then you have to wait to get in.
I booked the tour and Viator charged me but because of a system glitch the tour was booked at the wrong time. I called the tour operator immediately and they told me they couldn’t help me and to call Viator. I did and basically Viator said the same thing. I’m out $107 because of a Viator issue and that’s too bad for me. This is unacceptable. Viator owes me $107. I will never use Viator again.
I really hate to write poor reviews because we have had such great success with other Viator excursions but the purchaser should be aware of this company. I gave the company 2 stars because we did get tickets to the Acropolis…however, the self guided audio tour was a rip off. We tried two phones using sophisticated Verizon Wireless and neither worked after 5 minutes. I contacted the company and they said no refunds. I contacted Viator and after telling me it does work and it must be my internet. Funny thing is the internet worked perfectly in all other areas. They referred the problem to another division and we never heard anything. We were extremely disappointed with the company and Viator’s response ….all I can say is buyer beware !!
Our guide, Panos, was very knowledgeable and engaging while navigating through the traffic in Athens. His car was very clean and comfortable, and he always found a place to pull over so I could take photos. It was also very convenient that he picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at our ship. Overall, this tour was perfect to get a taste of Athens before boarding for our cruise.
The information given for the ticket purchase was misleading. People buying the tickets from the ticket office waited less than we did and they paid 30 EUR per adult and 15 EUR for kids while we pay 42 EUR per person without reduced price for kids.
Even if you're going in the shoulder season, like I did, do get your ticket(s) in advance. There will be two lines at the entrance: one for those who have tickets and one for the ticket booth. The operator is a little difficult to get a hold of, so DO NOT LOSE YOUR FIRST CONFIRMATION EMAIL. I did and it took both Viator and I nearly constantly trying to get in touch with the operator to get a new email with a working link to the tickets.
For the price, I’m not sure I’d do this again. Acropolis + Plaka village were both beautiful but the instructions on where to scan our tickets were unclear; and it’s possible to explore Plaka without a ticket or audiobook.
Great self guided audio tour. Easy to follow along and move at your own pace. Good price. I would recommend this over doing guided tour.
The self guided audio didn't work wasn't accessible. For entry only this was expensive as added charges commission to price displayed.
there were no landmarks or numbers at acropolis locations matching each segment of audio tour. that was frustrating although the tour has pictures of each segment. that was my major gripe.
Definitely not described as “moderate” walking. Lots of steps or steep hills. The weather was beautiful and the site amazing. But be prepared to climb a lot of steps.
The Acropolis is fantastic and a wonderful experience but I can’t recommend this tour agent. Poor communication and we did not receive information about the audio guide until after the tour had ended! We were overcharged for the experience. Will not book through this agent again. Beware!
We are so happy to have booked this tour. Skipping the line easily saved us up to an hour. Just go straight to the entry line on the left. A once in a lifetime experience. We totally recommend getting the earliest tour that you can to avoid both the heat and the larger crowds which arrive around midday. Don’t forget to take water and sunscreen.
Very amazing to see. I didn't understand how hot it would be which made it a little difficult. Still worth visiting.
The crowd was massive and moved very slowly in most places. It was impossible to get good photos. And a little dangerous on the slippery marble when it was so crowded
Walked right up and in at scheduled time. This saved us time and made for a flawless experience. Bring water and wear sunscreen and good walking shoes. The experience is not to be missed!
This is how we got our tickets to avoid the lines. If you do not want or need a guide (we prefer to walk around on our own). This is the way to go. In July it is VERY hot and sunny. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sun glasses and a bottle of water. And, do NOT miss the Temple of Hephaestus on the way down/out. We almost did.
Great memory to visit place you have studied since high school Surprised that was not physically demanding for 75 year olds Must do the museum before climbing to site Did museum day before; turned out to be great decision especially to prepare children Pre-ordered tickets made for no lines Uber to and from for $15 or so
I would not hesitate to say that anyone going to visit this site should do so with a guided tour. Otherwise, you’re likely to get subsumed by literally hordes of rude people. The people who work at the site are only marginally helpful, if you can find someone to help you. If you are elderly, bring a walking stick; the steps are uneven.
The Audio was good but it was a bit confusing identifying where you were on the site and which audio section was relevant to that particular location.
Great experience once you get to the top and finally made it. The view is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who visits Athens
Acropolis was beautiful but the app for the audio tour was glitchy (kept jumping back and repeating parts) and the talk from the guide was hard to follow as the correct amount of context was not presented. Also it was confusing in the instructions as we did not realize ahead of time that we had to have headphones and use app to hear tour. Had to call about this.
This is a nice way to book your tickets early, but our ticket that we received did not work the first time we tried to enter and we had to contact agency to fix tickets. After a couple hours problem was fixed and we were able to enter, but the extra money paid for buying ticket ahead of time instead of at the gate was not worth the money.
Great to explore at own pacing. Can be a bit crowded but with patience and timing it is enjoyable. Such amazing architectural beauty & history.
I booked this through aviator and booked it for May 18th and it automatically booked my trip for the 19th because this was FREE ADMISSION on the 18th. I cannot get my money back because it was non refundable. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST VIATOR ABD DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BOOKING as they do shady things like this!
Beware! Prepaid for 3 tickets for 1 pm entry, received confirmation, then night before was told there were no 1 pm tics available so the company bought us 2 pm entry. We made it work for our tour but should be made much more clear that tics are NOT confirmed for time requested until the night before
Don’t bother doing this Just line up, we were on a cruise and due to sickness on the boat we were not allowed to leave the boat on scheduled time. If you’re not there on the time booked NO EXCUSES !! They will not honour tickets Overall not happy
Having skip the line tickets was a great option. Would suggest purchasing ahead for any attractions in Athens. The Acropolis was incredible!
The audio tour was definitely not worth the money. The app was glitchy and took forever to download and set up. There were no instructions on where to start the tour and the map is not clearly marked so we ended up going in the wrong entrance and doing most of it backwards. The audio was informative but the geo tags attached to the tour were a mess and only served to constantly interrupt the audio segments as the locator thought we were in multiple places at once. When I was able to play the tour recordings, they were helpful and informative.
The Acropolis & Parthenon are fabulous! Initially the Viator website was a bit confusing regarding how you download the tickets (other reviewers has said this too). We downloaded and printed them out before travelling. In my opinion the cost of pre-booking the ticket with audio tour is a bit high when compared to the actual entry ticket price. That said, when we got there we saw that the queue for the ticket office was very long and so I definitely recommend purchasing tickets in advance. We didn't find the audio guide that helpful but perhaps that was just us. The overall experience was fantastic though.
The entrance was easy. However another couple and us on the same ticket were confused about the audio guide and we did not have them. It shouls have been more clear.
Got tickets but had to download at Accropolis so bare that in mind! Luckily I had a connection and found tickets on phone OK. Rate Viator really good to be honest. Didn't bother with the vocal guide a was visually so stunning.
Definitely worth getting a ticket in advance to avoid the long wait. They're currently renovating the toilets so make sure you go before going in
This a must visit place at least once in your life time. Beautiful temples with a lot of history. Highly recommend!!
Amazing experience. Athens is so beautiful! Acropolis is breathtaking! Will be back. This experience is unforgettable!
There were no instructions unlike our other trip experience with Viator. Some more directions were needed. We had better tours but took this one because of our previous experience/
Fast & easy to used as it could get very busy at the ticking booth Of Arcoplis. Tour operator was friendly & helpful too.
By far our favorite part of our tour of Europe! This was monumental" and "epic!" Self tour was the best idea for us because we could go our own pace. Some things we wanted to just linger and take in, while others were things we snapped a picture of and moved on. Definitely need to get tickets this way, though, as the ticket booth looked to be a long wait.
There was some confusion as to where exactly we got our actual "ticket" (vs. a voucher) from and we had to make a few calls to figure it out. Not sure that there was English audio included with this (if so, we didn't have it). We ended up using another free audio guide walking tour for the Acropolis that we had access to. But this was worthwhile to have the appropriate timed entry time to get onto the Acropolis.
Thanks. Fabulous tour with amazing guide and saw awesome Poseidon Temple with amazing sunset. Ready to do again!
Received our tickets two days before the tour. Easy access with no questions asked to get admission to the Acropolis.
We were required to purchase our own tickets day of because the tickets through Viator were invalid. The ticket services could not scan the tickets we received through email and the app. We want a full refund. No credits or exchanges but a refund.
Acropolis visit was great, but the self-service app based our was awful. The geo-location was often off, the audio was not always clear and the "tour guide" who recorded the audio can be heard asking questions to another about translations. I ended up turning off the audio guide and just wandering the site myself.
