The guide and tour itself were great, the guide was very knowledgeable and was also great at timing the stops. However, the first 20 minutes were spent checking if anyone needed to go to the bathroom (and then they went) or needed water etc. The tour itself was about 1 hr and 20 minutes. I still think it was worth it, but I think people should know to calibrate their expectations.

Beautiful day for a walk. We started at 3:30 for our short walk from the Acropolis. Very well organized at their office. Our guide was from Athens so he definitely knew the history. The ear pieces functioned perfectly. We had about 15-20 minutes to look around on our own when we got to the top. At this time of year it got dark early so we were able to get some nice pics with everything lit up. There is quite a bit of climbing up stairs.
The Acropolis is a must see in Athens. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the area. The company prepurchased our tickets (one less step for us) and the tour lasted approximately 2 hours. It was busy enough given that it was late October. I can only imagine how hectic it could be in peak season. Start as early as possible. Wish we had walked up at 8 am instead of 9-9:30.
Great experience. Got to learn about all the major aspects of the Acropolis with lots of history, and even some photos! Voice-amplification system through microphones works great.
Selena was great very personable and easy to understand. She did a great job.
This was outstanding because we had the best guide Dr Michael G who was brilliant in so many ways. He brought the whole experience together and using his words 'enabled myth and reality connect'. Thank you
The Acropolis is a spectacular site. There was various temples to explore. The tour guide, Vangelis, was very knowledgeable. The 4 hours spent at the Acropolis and museum was not enough. This was especially true at the Acropolis Museum.
Interesting tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon. The area is very crowded and there is a lot of information. We would have loved to have seen renderings of what they thought things looked like.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining
Wonderful walking tour with an extraordinary guide. The walk was full of interesting facts and stories. Don't do the Acropolis on your own. Do the tour. Highly recommended.
Selena was an amazing tour guide she took the time to make sure we all have a great understanding of the history. She is a great storyteller and has a lot of energy and passion for Greek culture. She paced the walk up hill in such a way we did not realize we had climbed such a great distance.
Simply because of the nature of the Acropolis, there is a lot of walking and up / down stairs and steps. The guide cleverly managed the phases of the experience to allow plenty of time for resting while relating background and stories as well as making opportunities to look around and take photos - but the walking still needs to be done. You don't need to be a marathon runner or a mountain goat, just reasonably mobile; the Acropolis is not a gentle wander through a garden. However, it's the only way to properly view and appreciate the Acropolis area and the monuments / buildings.
Great tour, very informative, interesting, perfect sized group & just the right duration. Would definitely recommend
Loved our guide, Helena’s engaging style and humour. There was never a dull moment in the tour. Me and my family were lucky to be in her tour group that day.
Giannis went above and beyond. It’s rare to meet someone who is so passionate, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in teaching those around him. He puts in the work and really cares about the subject matter he’s teaching even if it’s only a one-on-one session. He’s a great guide to Greek culture and I learned so much about this beautiful country. I highly recommend this educational experience, especially with Giannis.
“John the archaeologist” was an excellent guide and brought to life the incredible history of Acropolis. He was very knowledgeable, entertaining and engaging, would thoroughly recommend. Book an early tour to avoid the crowds.
Our guide heleni was excellent. She gave a very detailed account of the history behind the acropolis, providing insights we would never know if we explored the site on our own.
My husband and I loved seeing these archaeological sites of the acropolis and Parthenon. It was beautiful. I would not recommend going on an audio tour because it was very large and hard to understand. Our young tour guide did a good job, but she spoke way too fast for us and we couldn’t hear or understand a lot of what she said. I often had to take off my ear device and just stand closer to her.
Jo our guide was excellent. Loved her sense of humour and knowledge, she bought the whole thing to life.
It was wonderful! The sights are impressive. I traveled with my parents who are in their 80s. The guide made many stops which was great. We took the museum option and it was great because we may have gotten lost trying to get back down. We highly recommend it.
Well lead tour by Alana. She had lots of enthusiasm for describing the history of the acropolis. I had a slight issue with understanding her English spoken with a Greek accent, but appreciated the care that she took in keeping the group together and ensuring any questions could be answered.
Guide took their time on the walk up to make sure all guests were comfortable. Lots of hiking breaks filled with great knowledge and photo opportunities. She (also an archaeologist) was very knowledgeable.
Our guide provided a wealth of history. Fall was a great time to visit, fewer tourists and great weather
Knowledgeable guide (Elizabeth) and very professional. Good conversationalist and very well trained We loved the tour
Our Experience was incredible. The fee was a little high but the Experience of the guide was truly interesting. A difficult walk for unfit people or some elderly people, but overall amazing once you get to the top.
John the Archaeologist made the tour so rich with history and information that added to our entire Acropolis experience! It was an amazing day walking through the sites and seeing the majestic Parthenon in all its glory still today. We highly recommend John and this tour if you want the full Acropolis experience!
Great tour. Many stops at all the buildings on the way up to the top and the Parthenon with history and info on each. Great panorama views! The museum was excellent and tied all the statues, sculpted facades and relics to each building we had seen on the tour up. This tour is a must and our guide excellent Afroditi Gianni.
This was an excellent walking tour led by a lovely guide fully qualified and knowledgeable in her subject. The walking pace was carefully set to suit all the group. An excellent experience all around.
Such a beautiful tour with a great guide! Our guide knew the history and also had a good sense of humor. Definitely bring water and eat a meal before.
It’s a lot of hill walking so be prepared for that, but on the way up the Acropolis you see some beautiful views of Athens as well as the most amazing archaeological and historical structures. Our guide Yannis was fantastic, so very knowledgeable about the history and the Greek Mythology which I love to learn about. Loved everything about this trip. The museum was wonderful also. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
Elizabeth was clear and easy to understand.
Informative, entertaining, good group control, easily understood. Recommended. Went with the tickets included so we could get the entry time we wanted
We had an excellent experience touring the Acropolis Museum and Parthenon with John, our archaeologist guide. The way he presented the history and connected everything from beginning to end was fantastic. We learned so much! John kept things interesting and entertaining with fun facts, a few jokes, and great stories along the way. He even took pictures of our group at several scenic spots. His knowledge and personality made the entire experience memorable. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to get John as your guide.
What a fantastic tour! Anna was exceptional…so engaging, funny, and knowledgeable! All four of us thought she was the best tour guide we’ve had over our 2 1/2 week trip!
When I was 15 I visited Athens and the Acropolis with my father and sister and it has been a wonderful memory ever since (1988). This year I got to return with some friends! We had a great time on the Acropolis and Parthenon tour, even in the slightly rainy weather. Our wonderful guide Giannis, who was the best diva! 🤩, gave us a good lesson in history and entertained us with his story telling, giving us a memorable experience of this beautiful sight. I highly recommend!
Elena was great and very entertaining. She knew her history on the Acropolis and Parthenon. It was a little sketchy walking up but that was because people need to give the right a way.
Had a wonderful time. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend this tour to others.
Uneven areas to walk. Go early to avoid heat Lots of walking. Longer than expected but very interesting. Guide entertaining
Energetic and informative guide!!
Our guide was really informative and easy to understand. I have severe back pain at times and she watched over me and gave me plenty of time to rest. Our only issue was finding the meeting place because each cop or employee we asked sent us in different directions! We walked around looking and asking where the office was and despite having their address, couldn't find it. We were there 1 hour early thank goodness. They finally called us and helped us find them. Very stressful.
Good tour, comprehensive and very informative. Just plan accordingly, they started 20+ minutes behind schedule despite telling us to arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour start time. Spending almost 40 minutes waiting was not ideal. Excellent guide though.
We had an excellent guide to walk to the top of the Acropolis. She was very knowledgeable and communicated clearly and with some humor. As she promised, she took nicely spaced out breaks on the way to the top, taking advantage of shade and empty spaces to gather our group. We are two mature seniors and appreciated her attention to where everyone was in the group and the thoughtful pace she maintained for everyone. It was truly a wonderful experience.
The meeting location was easy to access. Our tour guide was kind, entertaining and offered a great historical educational experience.
Very organized at check in and start, headphones made it easy to hear our guide even when not next to him. We had Petros, super knowledgeable, funny, and engaging across the day. Learned so much more about the site and museum than we ever would have on our own. Plenty of time for pictures. Highly recommend.
Lots of walking, can be a bit treacherous at places but certainly doable if you take your time. but so worth the walk. Excellent guide.
Dr Michael G was wonderful! Highly knowledgeable, entertaining and enthusiastic. Our tour started with some rain but we were so lucky it cleared up - it did not impact the incredible experience at all though. Cannot recommend enough.
This was a great tour. I combined it with the museum tour by the same guide, Vangelis, who was excellent. You are given whisper headsets to be able to hear the guide. I took the first tour of the morning 08:00 but there were still crowds at the Parthenon but not too bad. It's a must-do and I am glad I have now visited such a famous site. The tour office was easy to find and there is a good coffee shop right next door that opens at 07:00 for breakfast. I was completely topped up with history by the time we finish at lunchtime so you get your money's worth!
The guide was highly experienced and i was traveling solo but the group with whom i went was nice Highly recommended
Excellent and entertaining guide. Lovely archeological tour by Orestes. Plenty of history and plenty of fun!
Our guide was excellent! Highly recommended! The Acropolis tour with Athens Walking is a must do!
