Excellent tour. We did the “with car” option. First, our driver, Peter, was excellent. He was knowledgeable but also shared stories about daily life in Greece. Took us around to see many of the local sights and told us how to get around with our hotel as a base. And our Acropolis guide, Betty, was also fantastic. Very interesting anecdotes and extremely knowledgeable about the museum and the Acropolis. She was very pleasant and answered all our questions. They both made it a wonderful experience for our group! One suggestion - you will not have enough time in the museum (which is super interesting and very well laid out). But your ticket is good for the day. You may wish to return to the museum once the tour is over to see more of the ruins or other items in the museum.

Your guide will be waiting at the 'Acropoli' Metro Station at street level which is located at 7 Makrygianni Street, and close to the Acropolis Museum Our meeting spot provides an ideal perspective from which to view the surrounding wall of the Acropolis built by the earlier Mycenean Civilization and to provide you with an introduction to the History of the Acropolis, its importance and role in the life of ancient Greece, and an overview of the temples & amazing monuments you are about to see. If choosing the 'CITY TOUR LUXURY VEHICLE' option, return transfers are included so we will be at your Hotel or Cruise ship terminal to meet you.
TOURING THE ACROPOLIS and PARTHENON. Usually, you will continue first with a visit to the Acropolis lasting approximately 80 minutes during which time you will see all of the Temples, Theaters, and associated buildings such as the monumental gateway (Propylaea), Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheum, and of course the Parthenon.
Still in a good state of preservation, one of our first stops is the Ancient THEATER OF DIONYSUS. Built in the 4th & 5th century BC in a natural amphitheater o nthe slopes of the Acropolis it would have had an impressive capacity of 25000, it is considered the world's oldest. Amazing to think that many of the most famous Ancient Greek plays would have had their original premieres here!
Ascend towards the monumental gateway (Propylaia) and entrance to the Acropolis. As the Temples of the Acropolis come into view, the Ancient Greeks would have been greeted by an enormous decorated Bronze Statue of the Goddess Athena. As legend has it, the tip of her upheld spear could be seen by incoming ships in the sunlight.
Built around 420 BC, and one of the earliest temples of the Acropolis, this Classical Ionic Temple was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and is largely restored, with a prominent position overlooking the City.
The pinnacle of the 'Golden-Age' of Classical Greece, this temple was an unrivaled mastepiece of Art, Architecture and Engineering as well as the heart of Ancient Greek ceremony and worship in Athens. We Take time at this most important temple with an overview of its construction, mythology and Historical importance.
The second largest temple of the Acropolis, the Erechtheion was Dedicated to both Zeus and the Goddess Athens and your guide will illuminate some of its wonderful Mythology and main aspects such as its impressive statues that you will now see in the Museum.
Built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this stunning Marble amphitheater continues as a working theater to the present day.
TOURING THE NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM (approximately 80 minutes) A short distance from the Acropolis you will see many of its original masterpieces along with models, videos & interactive installations housed in this state-of-the-art museum. Your guide will illuminate the most impressive & significant pieces along with the stories of myth & legend behind them. The tour's combination of the Acropolis and Museum form a perfect pairing in the understanding of the core of the 'Golden age' of Classical Greece. ENDING YOUR TOUR. Your guide will return you to the meeting point or choose to stay, enjoying the sights of the City!
ACROPOLIS ONLY OPTION(2-hrs): If selecting this tour option during booking we recommend selecting a time after lunch for a crowd-free experience as well as enjoying the 'Golden Light' and the best time to view the honey-colored hues of the temple's ancient Architecture and surrounding city views.

An amazing tour with a fabulous guide, Marina. Don’t miss the sunset tour and museum visit at the Acropolis!!!
Amazing knowledge from our guide. Loved the myths, legends, history timelines and everything about our time with our guide. She is also a teacher and had a great way of explaining in English for us Just after sunset on a rainy day, our tour ended with close to a full moon over the lively city of Athens. The contrast of ancient & modern was spectacular
We had a great tour today. Our guide was incredible, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. We learned a lot and really enjoyed it. Don’t hesitate to book this one.
Our guide Lisa was outstanding! She is a real expert on the history and archeology. She makes the Acropolis and the Museum come alive, and is upbeat and very personable. Thank you, Lisa!
We had a fantastic three hour private tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis museum today with Petros. Meeting was easy and Petros was engaging, fun and knew his subject very well. We had our teenage daughter with us and Petros did an excellent job at including her in the conversation. We thought our tour was excellent value for money and would definitely request to have Petros again if we decide to tour another site in Athens or surroundings! Top notch 👍
Our guide, Aliki, was knowledgable, adept at avoiding the crowds, considerate, and open to questions. We learned a lot about the art and history in this fascinating site and beautiful museum. Having a private guide, although a splurge, greatly enhanced our experience.
This was an amazing private tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and had previously worked at the museum!
Lydia is perfect in a deep knowledge of the acropolis history but she can convey it perfectly, keeping you engaged for three hours. We have traveled the world extensively and she is the best guide we have ever had.
Petros and our Guide at the Acropolis were both incredible, so knowledgeable about the history and everything we saw, and so kind and patient as well as considerate about our walking abilities. Thanks to both if them and I highly recommend them for any Viator tour. Thank you.
We loved our wonderful guide, who was exceptionally well-versed in Greek history and mythology, and she weaved all of that into her presentation. Excellent and well worth the money.
Guide was great - history teacher! Pleasant, highly informative. Go early. Crowds are bad, but not crushing like later on.
Maria was amazing—a true font of knowledge with an engaging style. We enjoyed all aspects of the Acropolis so much more with the benefit of her insights and stories and visuals. She answered all our questions well, and took great care of us. Highly, highly recommend.
Lydia made our Acropolis tour unbelievable. She is so knowledgeable and ran the tour at the perfect speed. Definitely worth it.
Our guide was fantastic. She is very passionate about the history and the importance of these historical sites. We enjoyed seeing the Acropolis and museum and the way our guide made it come alive. It was nice having our own dedicated guide where we could ask all of our questions.
Private 3-hour Acropolis + Ancient Agora tour while we were in Athens on a cruise. Paid $360 for the guide; tickets not included. Company wanted €136 to buy them for us — we got the two Acropolis and two Agora tickets on the official site for about €100. At the time it just felt flat. After other guided tours on the islands later in the trip, we realized how basic this one was. The talks at each stop were fine — 5–7 minutes, clear, accurate. That wasn't the issue. Between stops it was mostly silence. If we asked something we got a short answer and then kept walking. No stories, no extra details, nothing that connected one site to the next. What you want from a private guide is passion — the kind that's infectious, that makes you fascinated with the subject whether you asked or not. One question should turn into ten things you never would have looked up. Volume. Stories. The stuff you don't get from the free audio guide or a phone. Instead this was a competent briefing at each monument and quiet in between. Not a bad morning — the sites are incredible. Just not what $360 plus tickets should feel like.
Our tour guide made our visit to the Acropolis Hill one of the most memorable highlights of our journey to Athens. He was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful throughout the tour, always mindful of our needs and making sure everyone was comfortable. His passion and sense of humour for the history of the site, and his engaging way of sharing it made the experience even more enjoyable. We truly appreciated his professionalism and warm personality and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting the Acropolis.
Our guide Katherine was perfect for an Acropolis tour: an English speaking professional archaeologist from Greece. Not only was she articulate and knowledgeable about ancient history she was respectful of our pace and kind to other tourists. A real pleasure to listen to. Randy M.
We had a private tour - just the two of us - with Rugula (sorry if I have not spelled your name correctly). Rugula was hugely knowledgeable, energetic and engaging throughout - she packed loads into the tour and enjoyable company. We had a fabulous day - could not have been better. Hugely recommended.
Very knowledgeable and interesting tour of Acropolis museum and Acropolis. Very knowledgeable and interesting tour of Acropolis museum and Acropolis.
Highly recommend tour - the museum tour with the Acropolis is amazing. The richness and depth of the tour guide was impressive. We gained so much appreciation for the time period, culture, and people structure. Exceeded expectations.
Very personal and easy going. Super knowledgeable and fun! Petros was wonderful - so natural and kind!
We purchased the Private tour for the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Our tour guide, Lisa, was personable, eloquent and geared the tour to our request. The Acropolis Museum was the perfect place to begin our tour as we were able to see the major points of the exhibits on the Acropolis up close and in detail prior to seeing them in place. The fee was commensurate with the experiment. The time spent was perfect for us. We spent about an hour and a half in the museum prior to seeing the Parthenon up close.
We had an excellent experience with Comisa. She took us through the museum first and did not overwhelm us with information …enough to help us understand the Acropolis. We were extremely happy with our tour.
Wonderful experience. Very professional and high quality guide and driver. Highly recommend. Saw the highlights and perfect amount of information. Will use again when we travel with our kids.
We had such a great experience! Love our tour guide! She was so knowledgeable and patient with us!!!
Becky was an absolutely fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable, with a background in art history, and drew our attention to various architectural and artistic details we would have otherwise missed or not understood the significance of had we been on our own. She also customized the tour a bit to my specific interest in the asclepieion, on the fly. All of which made the visit so much richer than just wandering around the museum and Acropolis on our own. We had only a day in Athens and so scheduled the tour in the afternoon the same day we landed from our trans-Atlantic flight, after dropping our luggage at the hotel in the morning. We went to the museum first and after we were through we were fading a little and she took us to the cafe where we were able to get a coffee and a snack. Thus revived, we went to the actual Acropolis site and she provided more wonderful commentary and also served as an expert photographer. I would not hesitate to recommend her and if/when I am back in Athens I would book this excursion again and I would specifically request Becky as my guide.
Natalie was an awesome tour guide for the Acropolis/Parthenon/museum & took great photos of our group! Pedro gave us a nice tour in the Luxury Vehicle showing us all the highlights around Athens!
Get a personalized guide. It is worth the money. Guide(Bety) was very informative and knowledgeable too
Michael was excellent and very knowledgeable. We had a lot of questions to ask not only about Ancient Athens but also what the city is like in modern day.
Our guide Nikos was wonderful. Very thorough and well paced. He was also very patient and accommodating with the young children. He balanced the information well so it would relate with the adults and children independently
Lydia was a great guide. Knowledgeable and most importantly, she was very passionate about Athens and its amazing history. Would recommend
Had a great experience on our tour. Antigone was our guide and she was wonderful! So knowledgeable about Greek history and telling us the origins of the Greek myths. Had a great time.
This was an outstanding tour and Lisa was an incredible tour guide - knowledgeable, friendly, and easygoing. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves history, culture, architecture, and who wants to really understand Athens and the Acropolis.
The combination of visiting Acropolis museum and the actual Athens Acropolis site with an experienced and articulate teacher and guide (Lydia) made the entire experience both educational and interesting for our family of adults and teens. Beware that the to the Parthenon is steep and pre purchased museum tickets are non refundable. Highly recommended tour!
We had one day in Athens and this tour was amazing! A great tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum and a car tour of the city. Both Petra and Lisa were amazing! Highly recommend!
Worth touring the Acropolis first thing in the morning ro manage the heat. Our guide was excellent - Knowledgeable, insightful and able to communicate in an accessible, engaging manner. Highly recommended!
Maria was a phenomenal Acropolis and Acropolis museum tour guide. She skilfully brought history to life. The driver, Petrie was very good too! The whole thing was seamless and perfectly executed. They purchased the Acropolis tickets for us and we were one of the first ones on site so avoided the majority of the crowds. This tour was exceptionally excellent. The Acropolis museum is not to be missed - one of the best museums in the world. If you do one thing in Athens, then please make it this! You will not regret it!
A wonderful tour of the Acropolis with excellent historical and archeological detail. This was followed by an excellent tour of the Museum of the Acropolis which was stunning, followed by a tour of the city afterwards. Unmissable - recommend highly. If you do one thing in Athens - make it this tour!!
Michael was a Wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. He shared the history at a level we appreciated and was always open to expanding upon our questions. A great experience!
Marina was an excellent guide and made our experience the best it could be. Highly recommend her for private guided tours of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum.
Warmpenguin provider was extremely helpful in revisions of our tour. Ria was an excellent Acropolis/Museum guide. Our driver Bill was excellent, flexible, and knowledgeable. The sites and tour itself are highly recommended.
Lydia was absolutely outstanding and made our tour of the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the Acropolis Museum one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. She struck the perfect balance between Greek mythology, history, architecture, archaeology, and social history, making everything come alive without ever feeling overwhelming. Every minute was engaging, and it was clear how passionate and knowledgeable she is. What impressed us most was how well she connected with our entire family. The adults learned so much, but our kids were smiling, laughing, asking questions, and genuinely excited throughout the tour. Keeping children that engaged at such an iconic historical site is a true talent. She made this an unforgettable experience for our family, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide.

Our tour guide Betty was highly professional and managed our time most efficiently. As a native Athenian licensed in History of Art, she combined knowledge, practical experience, teaching skills, and a clear pride in the past of her beautiful city. Our teenagers were fully engaged and learnt many things. All in all, we were very satisfied with the 3-hour Acropolis and Museum tour.
Private guide is absolutely the best way to do the Acropolis tour. The guide added good info in the museum but would be ok without. She was very knowledgeable and wonderful to us, but her interactions with a few strangers where she tried to correct their behavior at points during the tour made my teens uncomfortable as they did not like the attention on us. For the most part she was doing so to get people to move so we could have a better experience but we are not people who like to make a fuss. Would recommend the tour and company but not sure I would recommend this particular guide unless you don’t mind how outspoken she was to others.
We just came back from our excursion and it was just amazing! The tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum was so interesting and our guide, Effie, was amazing! She not only was extremely knowledgeable but she made it fun for the kids in our group. Petros, our driver was awesome too. He picked us up on time and was so nice. On the city sightseeing portion, he explained everything and it was so interesting. I highly recommend this tour especially with the car. Really fantastic!
We had a great experience with Eva, she was a 10/10 with the knowledge that she brought to the table while walking us through the Acropolis & the Museum. We learned so much more than expected ! Also she’s a great photographer & knows all the angles .
Our tour of the Acropolis and the museum went very well. We met at the intended place right on time. Our guide was experienced and knowledgeable. She is an archeologist and educator, and it showed in the depth of her knowledge of the history of the place and its people. The pacing was good, though we could've spent more time and had more detail in the museum. Also, it would be nice to just have the tickets included in the pricing, rather than have to arrange for them separately.
This is a FABULOUS company that was so flexible in tailoring us a perfect day in Athens. Prior to arriving they helped with Acropolis tickets, extra time, extra people, and making a lunch reservation and the day was perfectly planned. Vol was our driver and a perfect mix of Greek charm and knowledge without being too much. Petros was our guide in Acropolis and was wonderful, personable, and so intelligent. The bus was beautiful and air conditioned and waters provided and the restaurant they provided was Chefs Kiss. If you want an amazing tour in Athens with a large family this is a must.
