This was an excellent in-depth tour of the Acropolis, Parthenon and Agora. Good easy paced walking tour. Our guide Artemis was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of these places and events surrounding them. The only awareness item you need to know is that the bathrooms we could use after the first half of the tour was complete lacked toilet paper. So might be wise to carry some with you before you begin the tour.

Itinerary
The Acropolis of Athens (Ancient Greek: ἡ Ἀκρόπολις τῶν Ἀθηνῶν, romanized: hē Akropolis tōn Athēnōn; Modern Greek: Ακρόπολη Αθηνών, romanized: Akrópoli Athinón) is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, Greece, and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stunning stone theater located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis in Athens. Built in 161 AD by the Roman senator Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, it was originally covered with a wooden roof and could seat around 5,000 spectators. Still in use today for concerts and performances, it is one of the finest examples of ancient Roman theater architecture in Greece.
The Theatre of Dionysus (or Theatre of Dionysos, Greek: Θέατρο του Διονύσου) is an ancient Greek theatre in Athens. It is built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill, originally part of the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus
The Parthenon (/ˈpɑːrθəˌnɒn, -nən/; Ancient Greek: Παρθενών, romanized: Parthenōn [par.tʰe.nɔ̌ːn]; Greek: Παρθενώνας, romanized: Parthenónas [parθeˈnonas]) is a former templeon the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, that was dedicated to the goddess Athena. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of classical Greek art, and the Parthenon is considered an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, democracy, and Western civilization.
The Temple of Hephaestus is one of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples, located in the Ancient Agora of Athens. Dedicated to Hephaestus, the god of fire and craftsmanship, it was built around 449 BC during the height of the Athenian Empire. The temple showcases classical Doric architecture and offers a remarkable glimpse into ancient Greek religion and architecture.
The Stoa of Attalos is a grand, two-story colonnaded building in the Ancient Agora of Athens, originally built in the 2nd century BC by King Attalos II of Pergamon. Restored in the 1950s, it now houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora. The stoa served as a covered walkway and shopping area in ancient times and stands as a prime example of Hellenistic architecture and public life in classical Athens.
The ancient Agora of Athens (also called the Classical Agora) is the best-known example of an ancient Greek agora, located to the northwest of the Acropolis and bounded on the south by the hill of the Areopagus and on the west by the hill known as the Agoraios Kolonos, also called Market Hill. The Agora's initial use was for a commercial, assembly, or residential gathering place

Significant amount of stair climbing-no hand rails-but overall good. Pace of the guide was reasonable and considerate.
Even in the rain a trip To the acropolis and the acropolis museum Should not be missed. Great and knowledgeable Guide
Our guide Annie was phenomenal! Through thunder, torrential downpour and eventually a reprieve in the dynamic weather, Annie expertly navigated our group for 4 hours through the massive sea of tourists and umbrellas while explaining the fascinating history and details of the Acropolis, Agora and museum. All 3 tickets were part of the tour package. The trek up to the top of the Acropolis involves walking uphill and back downhill but it is worth the effort. So many sights to behold! Highlight of our tour was Agora. Absolutely took our breath away. Icing on the cake were the beautiful and friendly kitties of Agora. Experiencing these ancient ruins is a must-do, and if you have Annie as your guide then consider yourself blessed by the gods. Thank you Annie! From California and New Mexico family.
Julia, our guide was informative, professional and very knowledgeable. Also easy to understand. Long, but breaks were given.
This was a fabulous tour. The guide was very informative and easy to understand. This tour has lots of walking but it is spaced in increments with rest stops. Highly recommended for people who have no major mobility issues.
Our guide Annie was amazing. So knowledgeable, friendly and took the time to answer all of our questions.
Anastasia was a remarkably good guide. Always a smile, great storytelling style. She maneuvered the group to unbusy spots.
Our guide was very helpful and full of information. I would highly recommend this tour as a must if you visit Athens.
This tour was amazing - Angel was one of the best guides we’ve ever had! So much excellent information - absolutely loved this tour. The company itself was highly organized and efficient, getting multiple groups out with ease. Highly recommend!
Our guide was incredibly educated and knowledgeable on Greek myth and history, and the tour was very enriching!
My husband and I learned a lot on our tour. Seemed to keep at a good pace and included admission to all sites specified. It was raining, but we were still able to participate in all stops. The tour did go 45 minutes past the 3.5 hour scheduled time which we felt was way too long. Not sure if it was due to the multiple technology issues, crowds, or pace.
Rainy day, got soaked, very fast pace and too many slippery surfaces, ear phones quit working for several in group, often hard to find guide in very crowded areas, flag would have really helped, guide did a great job under bad circumstances
This was such a great tour, Eli was awesome and took her time with our group. We were with her on 10/8/26 and cannot say enough good things about her.
Anastasia was amazing. While the trek up to the acropolis is intimidating Anastasia made it seem effortless with stops along the way. She was entertaining, fun, and knowledgeable making the 4 hours so much fun!
This tour was a great overview of the temples of the Acropolis, and marketplace of Agora. Our guide, Angel, was very informative. The pace was measured, and began and ended right on time.
Artemis is an amazing guide! What a lovely lady
Our tour guide, Afroditi, turned what could have been a very chaotic experience into an enjoyable journey through history. Her knowledge of the sites was outstanding, and she led us through the crowds with confidence. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent tour - our guide paced this exceptionally well, found shaded spots, navigated us thru crowds, and her historical, political, architectural, and social knowledge is extensive. She taught and she shared. Wonderful experience.
Faye was amazing she kept us entertained for over 4 hours with super stories and history.
This was an amazing tour due to our guide John the Archeologist and the wonderful ruins of the Acropolis. John provided a great historical overview and then provided additional commentary as we explored the various elements of the Greek ruins. Highly recommend this tour as part of a visit to Athens.
Excellent tour with Aigly, who was a terrific guide. Definitely recommend.
The guide really knows her stuff. Very authentic and knowledgeable. She provided a great historical account of the different locations
We thought it was a great experience. We had a very knowledgeable guide, that safely led us through crowed area. The headset was great
Easy meeting place and good directions. Excellent visit with a very knowledgable and pleasant guide, Afroditi. Please note that this excursion is not for people with mobility issues.
Excellent tour guide, Georgina, who was very knowledgeable and super friendly, answering all questions and ensuring everyone was okay. Pace of the tour was perfect and the story covered the history and present day activities. Highly recommended.
Our guide Iris (sp?) was fabulous. She was knowledgeable, attentive, funny and created a truly enjoyable tour. We really liked that our guide combined history and related it to current day. I would definitely recommend this tour, the tour company, and going early in the morning when it isn't so hot.
Even on a miserably rainy day, we could not have asked for a better guide than Anna Marie. Her remarkable knowledge, engaging narratives, and impeccable professionalism made our tour of the Acropolis and the Agora both informative and inspiring. She significantly enhanced our understanding and appreciation of these iconic treasures of the Greek people.
The guide, Amy, was upbeat and funny. There were lots of people and we had difficulty keeping up with her, especially on the walk to the ancient agora. Then we just ended the tour far away from where we had started, and had to find our way back during the rainstorm.
Nancy was superb..enjoyed her caring personality. She was organized and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend her.
The tour met expectations. The sites visited were wonderful of course. The guide was fine but perhaps the tour went on too long. There were times, for example in the museum, where we could have been allowed to wander rather than hand held. The guide was very knowledgeable.
Expect a lot of walking and uphill stretches. As you near the top the footing gets very slippery on worn marble and granite surfaces. Our guide Annie was wonderful. She seemed to wish she had more time to share her knowledge with us. The Acropolis was very crowded the whole time we were there.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and nice
The tour was very informative and comprehensive. Our tour guide Yannis, was very knowledgeable and had a nice sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour.
George was very knowledgeable and told a story that interwove information about history, architecture, culture, religious beliefs and customs and the influences of the growth of a democratic society.
Aphrodite was a great, knowledgable guide and I had a wonderful time. Pace was appropriate and we had time at the Acropolis to do some exploring on our own. I was worried we wouldn’t have enough time with all the stops but it ended up being perfect, especially with the heat and crowds. Wear good shoes and be prepared for walking on uneven and occasionally slippy ground. Having the fee for the Acropolis and Agora included in the ticket made things really easy. There were lines at the check in office - they opened at 7:45 and my tour was at 08:00 - so I recommend getting there a bit early. I feel like my tour started late because a ton of people didn’t arrive until after 8. This tour is great for solo or group/couple travellers!
Julia was a great guide, very knowledgeable and informative. I’m glad we decided to go with a group for this experience because we would have missed out on a lot of context for the sites.
We enjoyed thoroughly! Please wear appropriate footwear. The path is slippery, the marble is worn from years of constant use. The tour is fast paced.
It was a great activity. Our tour guide was excellent and we got to see everything we wanted. I had to take away one star because I don't think it's paced very well. It is a grueling 4.5 or almost 5 hours with no breaks or stops. We did not have a bathroom break until the very end, and with the heat and the massive crowds atop the Acropolis, by the time we got to the last stop, a museum, we were already mentally checked out and it seemed like the guide was really rushing to pump us with lots of information that our brains would just not absorb, being like 4 hours into the tour. I would suggest some sort of brief stop after the Acropolis to rest, have a coffee or water and gather your senses, as well as being able to reflect, for just a few minutes before carrying on.
Our taxi was a no show, so we called & we’re assured we could switch to a different tour. We arrive 1/2 hr late, BUT the wonderful Elena, walked us to our original group with the amazing Fay!! We didn’t miss ANYTHING!! We had a fabulous tour experience!! Fay had amazing knowledge & was an excellent communicator. She also was passionate in her care for the people on our tour, often assisting those who needed it!!
The acropolis is a must see and if you are a big history buff this is the tour for you. If you are looking for time to explore and not so many facts and details I would suggest a different tour.
Joining the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Ancient Agora guided tour with Athens Walks was an incredible experience, made truly unforgettable by our guide, Annie. Annie was extraordinarily knowledgeable, passionate, and endlessly helpful. She brought thousands of years of ancient history to life with captivating storytelling, insightful details, and a vibrant enthusiasm that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. From navigating the grand monuments of the Acropolis and the architectural marvel of the Parthenon to walking through the historical grounds of the Ancient Agora, her context and perspective made every stop infinitely more meaningful than exploring on our own. The tour itself was seamlessly organized. Having skip-the-line entrance tickets included saved us a massive amount of time and hassle, allowing us to focus entirely on the sights. The pace was comfortable, providing plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and soak in the breathtaking views over Athens. If you are visiting Athens and want a rich, stress-free dive into Greek history, booking this tour with Athens Walks—and asking for Annie—is an absolute must.
Venardos was a great guide for viewing the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the Agora. There were big crowds as we traversed the monuments, but he took his time, kept the group together, and gave detailed explanations about the history. Touring the Agora was an added bonus. We got more than our money’s worth!
Our guide George was great and very informative!
The Acropolis was no doubt an amazing momument to see but our experience was further enhanced by the cheerful, knowledgeable and professional guide.
Knowledgeable and proud of her city
Our guide was an archaeologist so it made it very interesting and worthwhile. He was not only knowledgeable, but also had a great sense of humor making the tour very enjoyable.
Great tour with our very knowledgeable guide Victor.
Really enjoyed George today as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. We all learned so much. Definitely worth it!!
The tour was very thorough. The guide did a wonderful job explaining all of the history and also navigated the crowds well.
