Our 2 day tour with Tas was the highlight of our 2 wonderful weeks in Greece. His communication with us started as soon as we made our reservation and continued up until he picked us up on the day of the tour. Through out the tour, he kept us entertained and engaged with his badt knowledge of Greek history. His warmth and humor made our time together truly special. He took us to delicious restaurants where we were treated like special guests. All said, we very very highly recommend this tour. It was well worth the money and time!

Pickup from designated location Drive to Delphi Delphi formerly also called Pytho is famous for the ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of Pythia, the oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. The Greeks considered Delphi the navel or center of the world as represented by the stone monument known as the Omphalos of Delphi. Delphi archaeological site: A Unesco World Heritage Center, Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. The functions of the oracle grew over the centuries to include athletic games, cultural events, most importantly the Pythian games. The Temple of Apollo, the Ancient Theater, the Stadium, the Athenian Treasury, the Gymnasium, the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia are truly captivating. Delphi Archaeological Museum: Many important ancient Greek artifacts from the excavations at Delphi are housed here. Frieze of the Treasury of Sifnias Naxian Sphinx: Dated to 560 BC, comprises one of the earliest representations in art of the demonic creature with a lion's body, bird's wings and a woman's head. Metopes of the Athenian Treasury: Early 5th century BCE you will gaze upon Theseus and Antiope, Theseus and the Minotaur, Theseus and Marathonian bull, Heracles and the cattle of Geryon, Heracles battling the three-bodied giant Geryon, Heracles subduing a Centaur, Heracles and Cycnus, Heracles and the Nemean lion, An Amazonomachy scene and many more. Omphalos: Signifying the center of the earth and kept in Apollo's temple. Kleobis and Biton: Two brothers from Argos. The statues are of the typical kouros type attributed to a Peloponnesian workshop and date to the end of the 7th century BC. Statue of Antinoos: Portrays the celebrated for his beauty, youth and emperor Hadrian's favorite as a god. This work is considered one of the finest examples of the neoclassical style revived in the 2nd century AD. The famous Charioteer: Belonging to a statuary complex of a chariot run by four horses and included a second male figure. Delphi Village: A popular tourist destination the village of Delphi has many hotels, guesthouses, tavernas and bars. Lunch on the Caldera at Delphi, overlooking fabulous Itea and Amfissa.
Thermopylae is a place in Greece where a narrow coastal passage existed in antiquity. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Greek city states led by King Leonidas of Sparta and the Persian Empire of Xerxes. The Gates of Fire: Deriving from the Hot sulphur Springs and in Greek mythology the cavernous entrances to Hades. The monument of King Leonidas: Erected in 1955 and created by the sculptor Vasos Falireas. The brass sculpture of the Spartan King with his spear and shield is truly amazing. Thermopylae museum: The innovative museum is dedicated to the 480 BC battle that changed the course of Greek history and western civilization as we know it today. Hotsprings: The baths of Thermopylae could be described as a paradise of healing spas. High end hydrotherapy facilities focusing on balneotherapy not only as a treatment for specific ailments, illnesses and injuries but also to promote general well-being. Although the drive was lengthy, the trip was definitely worth it. I especially enjoyed Meteora and the monasteries we visited. Our guide and driver, Tas was a hoot. Tons of information/lots of history. Plus he made sure we coffee whenever we wanted it!
3 day trip out of Athens with numerous stops, with Delphi, Meteora being the best. Tas, our guide, was knowledgeable and a good host. He knew where to go and what to see, also made great choices for restaurants. 5 stars oversll
We had a very great trip to Delphi, Thermopylae, Arachova and Meteora. Everythng went smoothly and as planned. Our guide Tas was terrific. Full of information not only on the sites we were visiting but all things Greek. He took us to restaurants that were not on the tourist radar. Especially on the way back to Athens, as we had time to take a detour and lunch at a lovely spot on the coast.
Our guide, Taz, is an expert in Greek history. Spending 2 days with him was incredibly interesting. He was warm, funny, kind, and generous with his vast knowledge. Delphi and Meteora are not to be missed. We cannot say enough about the tour. It was the best part of our two weeks in Greece.
Incredible experience, great travel group to work with they tailored our experience to our groups needs, their restaurant recommendations were all incredible, would recommend to others and use their group again!
We went for a two day trip to Meteora to climb the rocks, to view the monasteries. Peter our guide was completely attentive. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history. Peter made us feel very welcome and comfortable.
We had an amazing 2-day tour to Delphi and Meteora! Our driver, Yannis, was excellent — very professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about Greek history. He shared so many fascinating insights along the way and made the long drives feel short and enjoyable. The vehicle was comfortable and clean, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We felt well taken care of and learned so much about Greece’s culture and past. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!
This was an amazing tour, especially with our ace guide, Yannis. If you are a history buff and like the detail, this is the trip for you. It is two long days, from about 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first day, and from 8: a.m. until 7:00 p.m. the second day. Yannis was great--he is an Ancient Greece history expert and very willing to share his knowledge. We were able to determine some of our itinerary for this trip, too. Great description of the Thermopylae battle and the Oracle of Delphi. Meteora was phenomenal. Very highly recommended. Ask for Yannis.
Our tour guide Yannis made this trip so special. He was so very knowledgeable of not only the history of the sites visited but also of the best places to eat and stop. He was also more than accommodating of my father’s mobility issues.
Peter made the 2 day trip totally fun. He was totally informative and he has a warm presence. A very enjoyable trip from Athens.
Our driver Yannis was fabulous - very knowledgable, excellent driver, great recommendations for restaurants, sites. AGT set us up with tour guides at Delphi and Meteora and they were superb, and also set us up with drivers to take us to our port and after the cruise to ATH. We would recommend Ancient Greek Tours to anyone!
George and his team bring the classics and the history of the region to life! Our group was an educational trip which was enhanced thanks to the context the guides and team provided. Went above and beyond.
Tas is the most knowledgeable driver/guide I met on this trip. He gave me so much historical context behind everything that we saw I couldn’t believe my ears. He also plans out each day really well and I felt very relaxed throughout the entire trip. I highly recommend Tas and this tour company.
Yannis was AMAZING! So very knowledgeable - we learned so much. The trip was well-planned and well-laid out. Yannis is very thoughtful, considerate and friendly - we had wonderful conversations. The restaurants he recommended to us were amazing, he explained everything and we learned so much history from his stories. Would 10/10 recommend!
This tour is the "easy button" to visit Delphi and Meteora. They pick you up in Athens and drop you off at the doorstep of all the major sites including viewpoints and amazing restaurants. The car is clean and comfortable and our guide, Tas, was a delight with lots of recommendations and great conversations while in route.
Wonderful guide, Yannis, was a fountain of knowledge and a fantastic storyteller. Incredible locations and history. Definitely take this little road trip adventure - you won’t regret it!
Wow! What a trip. Our driver/guide, Yannis, was an incredible storyteller with encyclopedic knowledge of Greek history and mythology. He took great care of us, sharing tales of each location with joy. We are so glad we took the time to travel to these wonderful places, so rich with history. Delphi was incredibly interesting - especially when guided by Georgia, the optional on-site guide (the extra money was worth it!) who provided the context we needed to fully appreciate what we were seeing. Meteora is nothing short of magical. Breathtaking and spectacular - you need to see it to believe it. And Yannis had the best recommendations for which monasteries to prioritize and in which order. (Basically, you should take all his recommendations) jump at the chance to take this adventure-filled little road trip!
My daughter and her family moved to Greece from the US and was there helping them settle. I took advantage of a few days to myself and took the Delphi/Thermopylae/ Metreora Tour. Since I was traveling solo, I wanted to ensure that I was safe and individually guided and enriched with Greek history . I definitely felt safe with George traveling solo. He’s an excellent driver is courteous, interesting and knowable. George did not accompany me into the museums and monasteries for a “ guided tour”. (Which the tour description noted) This I realized was the only downside because there was so much detail history in these exquisite places. I might recommend that AGT provide an optional audio guided tour for the various stops along the way.
My mom and I took this overnight trip to Meteora and Delphi. It was great and exactly what we were looking for. We had enough time to hit all the spots without the stress of rushing. Our driver, Tas, was an extra bonus. He was very knowledgeable on the sites and gave us additional insight that enhanced our journey. He made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. Recommended and worth it!!!!!
My sister and I took an overnight trip to Delphi and Meteora. It was phenomenal!! Our driver Tas was supremely delightful and knowledgeable. He took us to all the sites and a few extras, and engagingly told us about their history. He also picked some great food places. He took photos for us and even labeled them and sent them to us via WhatsApp. The trip was worth every cent!
wonderful trip. Tas was a friendly and informative guide. Definitely recommend. also nice time of year to avoid crowds of tourists
We (a group of 4) had the best time on a 2-day private tour of Delphi, Meteora and Thermopylae with Tas at Ancient Greek Tours. We were picked up from our hotel in a comfortable Mercedes van with plenty of snacks and water. It was a few hours to Delphi, and there were plenty of stops along the way as well as stories and history lessons along the trip. Before we arrived in Delphi, Tas gave us some information about the museum and the ruins to make the visit more interesting. After visiting Delphi, we stopped at a wonderful cliff side restaurant called Patrico for late lunch/dinner. Then it was a drive to Kalabaka for an overnight stay. The next day, we were driven to all the sights in Meteora and Tas provided recommendations on which monasteries we should visit if we did not want to visit them all. And he took us to picturesque spots to capture the formations and the monasteries. After the visit, we had a nice lunch at a family owned restaurant before heading to Thermopylae and then back to Athens. Tas took pictures of us at different spots along the way and then sent them to us afterwards with explanations, so that we would remember what we saw. 5 star service and trip, and would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Greece.
I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Greece. Delphi was great and Meteora was AMAZING!! Tas was a top notch tour guide. He was friendly and engaging, with a wealth of knowledge. And he knew how to avoid the crowds! Even though the drive is long, the tour is worth it.
Awesome tour and excellent experience all around thanks to our tour guide, Tas. We really had a wonderful time and appreciated his wealth of knowledge. The sites (and sights) were absolutely breathtaking. Meteora is a must see
I travelled from Australia after COVID19 restrictions were relaxed and I was surprised that my guide was Tas from Sydney, Australia. He has a BA from U.Syd. in ancient history with a wealth of knowledge about ancient Greece and the significance of the tour sites. My knowledge is sketchy --- I had never heard of Meteora but I was astounded by its natural beauty and history. Delphi and Thermopylae were great to visit and I am committed to returning. More importantly, Tas gave me insight into recent Greek history and politics that would be difficult to find anywhere else. And one might be shot for repeating it! A great experience all up.
Amazing tour with Tas, who has such a wealth of knowledge. He shared in-depth history about the places we visited before each site, setting the stage for the amazing sights we were about to see. His restaurant recommendations/Greek tavernas were exactly what we were looking for, in terms of local cuisine and ambience. The food was all so delicious! We learnt so much more about Greece. Thank you Tas!
I’m 51 and traveling with my best friend. We were finally able to get to Greece after COVID cancelled our 2020 trip. Ancient Greek Tours provided an amazing service…private, safe and fun. Our driver/guide Lefterry was personable, informative and enjoyable to be around. This is important since we spent 2 days with him! Meteora is breathtaking and almost impossible to comprehend. We also loved Delphi very much (it’s a lot of walking uphill but worth it). Don’t hesitate to book with Ancient Greek Tours!
Think of Lucy in the sky with diamonds…. But make it a delicious heavenly experience with Tas; traveling with disco music keeping the holiday vibe dancing through the mountain passes! Two days of excitement, fun and incredible encounters with ancient Delphi at sunset plus magnificent monasteries hanging off the boulders at Meteora. Gourmet food, great company and a dip into the hot springs at Thermopylae! An experience of a lifetime indeed. Highly recommended! Jacs and Candice.
This was truly an incredible experience. Tas, our organizer and guide, is one of the most knowledgeable and personable guides. He organized everything perfectly and on time. He even organized transportation to a ferry that saved us a day in transit. What service! Listen to his restaurant recommendations! Two of the best meals we had - especially the Taverna in Meteora. The sites of Delphi and the monasteries at Meteora are beyond description. Break out from Athens and the islands and head to this tour. It’s once of a lifetime.
This was a great experience! Tas was a fantastic guide and really tailor the information for the group. I was loving the history and my friends were more for the amazing views you get to see on this trip. It was totally the highlight of my Greek Odyssey.
My family of six, ranging from 13-67, all enjoyed every moment of our two days with Tas. Communication before the trip was great, and from the moment he picked us up everything was smooth, well organized, relaxed, comfortable, and just plain fun! Along the way during the drive, Tas pointed out areas of interest, or of historical, or even current socio-economic/political interest, giving us a glimpse of the ‘real’ Greece beyond the touristic highlights. His understanding and enthusiasm for Greece was captivating - even 3 teenagers listened with interest! Tas took care of arranging our overnight stay in a wonderful boutique hotel at a great rate, as well as two of the best meals we’ve had in Greece. On the road there was always cold water after a few hours in Greece’s hot summer days. He was also very attentive to Grandma’s limitations, letting her know which hikes might be too much for her, again a testament to his knowledge of the areas. And as astounding, wonderful, mesmerizing, and breathtaking as Delphi, Meteora, and Thermopylae are on their own, they were even more so thanks to Tas! Tas really was the highlight of the trip for us 😊
We take this 2 days tour, specting some knowledge, but TASOS our tourist guide, make it VERY DIFFERENT, INTERESTING, AMAZING.!! TASOS realy is a very intelligent tourist guide: Profesional, Interested, AUTHENTIC, with an brilliant memory and the really whish you be Confortable. His driving skills VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT. He also took photos of us, with his camara and send us by mail. Who do that? We really recomend this 2 days tour !!!!!!
We took the Delphi Meteora 2 day private tour. Tas was our pilot. While the tour is itself brilliant, Tas’ knowledge and his ability to share it in the most authentic and interesting way made the trip memorable and highlight of our greece tour. His driving skills are great too - we had a safe and very pleasant journey to-and-fro. Dont miss this one, esp if Tas is driving you ! He clicks great pics too btw ;). I recommend this tour highly
What an awesome few days! Tas was a fantastic tour guide - informative, caring and easy to get along with. The areas visited were incredible and we would all highly recommend this tour to anyone! Thanks again!!
This tour was one of the best experiences of our lives and tas was an amazingly hospitable and knowledgeable guide. Would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone who wants to see the real Greece!
