This was an amazing trip! This is by far the best thing we did on our 2.5 week trip through Europe. The pictures do not do Meteora justicw. Our guide Constantina was fantastic, answering all our questions and providing factoids along the bus ride when we passed anything of note. Her voice is very soothing (she should do podcasts!). You won't have time to do *everything* at Delphi, but I thought it was totally worth it for our guide's knowledge and our bus drivers expertise in navigating the Athens traffic (OMG) and mountain roads. I'm SO GLAD we didn't try to drive ourselves!!! We stayed at the 3 star hotel. The food was good, but the room was terrible. The shower was so small, broken, and musty that neither my partner or I used it. I would opt for the 4 star if I did it again, though the 3 is ok for just 1 night. I wish we had more info about what the differences were between the 2 before choosing. One thing that is easy to miss in the description if you dont read carefully: the dress code for the monasteries. Women need to wear a skirt past the knees and men pants. Scarves are provided by the monasteries to borrow to wrap around your waist if needed so not a big deal if you forget/miss it.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
Arrive at Delphi at around noon. Famous for its ancient ruins including a theater and the Temple of Apollo, Delphi was considered the center of the earth and universe, and played a central role in the classical Greek world. On arrival, visit the the mountainside archaeological site and view the Temple of Apollo, famous for its oracle.
One of the most important archaeological sites in Greece
In the afternoon, after lunch (own expense) travel through central Greece and the city of Lamia. After a short stop in Lamia, continue to the city of Trikala for a short stop and cross the Thessalian Plain to Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks crowned by the Meteora monasteries. Following a short stop for souvenir-shopping, overnight stay in Kalambaka at your choice of a centrally located 3- or 4-star hotel in the town.
Day 2
2
Leave in the morning for a tour of nearby Meteora’s monasteries. Visit two different Byzantine monasteries built on rocktops and commanding fantastic views over the plain. Meteora is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Built on the top of sandstone pillars, the monasteries provided monks with totally inaccessible retreats for centuries. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful area of mainland Greece, and its monasteries are one of its most unusual and distinctive attractions.
During your return to Athens, enjoy an optional visit to a factory making Byzantine-style icons, and stop for photos at the monument to the heroic Leonidas, King of Sparta, at Thermopylae. Your tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

Great tour. Knowledgeable guide. Safe driver. Nice and clean bus. Information before the trip was all about last minute. Would also have liked more hotel info ahead so we could have brought swimsuits and used the sauna. Meteora was so crowded which is nothing the tour company can control of countless but it took some of the beauty off. Meteora is an amazing place and so is Delphi.
Both Delphi and Meteora sites were very interesting. The trip was just as planned. Easy pick up and drop off.
Nice sights. Standard-level hotel okay. Provided meals substandard. For lunches that we had to pay for, the places where the busses stoped charged very high prices for what they offered. We would not recommend this tour.
All directions are stated, but pay attention to the monastery dress code (pants for men and women wear longer skirts with shoulders covered. Katerina and Theo (leader & driver) were wonderful and very attentive to all. Stops were every 2 hrs and the sites were spectacular. This is a must do excursion.
Had two different guides. First guide Yota was excellent. Second guide was horrible. He could barely speak English. How the tour is probably depends on who you get as a guide.
This tour had been a wonderful experience, visiting two of the most sought after attractions outside of Athens. The tour guides were highly professional and super friendly, making everyone feel comfortable throughout the tours. The bus picked us up and dropped us off at designated locations as listed. Everything was perfectly arranged…I can’t think of anything that would make me think otherwise.
Tour gives you a understanding of Greece culture and history. It explains it's more than just Athens and Islands. Guide Irenie was passionate and dedicated, our driver was very skillful and always felt safe.
Very good and informative tour! We had a great time learning about and exploring Delphi and Meteora! Guide was very knowledgeable and kind and the driver was top notch! We would have liked to have some better food options on our stops that matched the quality of the rest of the tour.
Irini K. was an incredible guide who explained everything with such knowledge and enthusiasm that was contagious for the whole group! Bill, our amazing driver, navigated impossible roads that we were relieved not to drive. What a fantastic experience!
I would highly recommend this tour. Both places are amazing to visit. The driver and guide were both excellent!
My 10 yr old and I booked this tour and enjoyed it a lot. I had contemplated (briefly) driving to Meteora myself but am so glad I didn't. They picked us up down the road from our hotel bright and early. Our driver was friendly, our guide was wonderful. Christina has amazing people skills and a vast knowledge. The bathroom/drink breaks were consistent and just long enough to compensate for not being allowed to bring any food or drink on the bus. (Water is allowed.) Admission tickets were included in our cost, not sure if that's always the case. Delphi was scorching hot but Christina made a point of parking us in the shade for talks. She expertly navigated dealing with folks who listened in on our tour despite not being a part of our group in a polite way. Christina warned us there was a winding part of our drive (about an hr) but we were fine, as was the rest of our group. Quick stop at Thermopylae to see the mural, but you don't need much time there as it was 40 Celsius at that point. We had 2 hotels choices in Meteora and opted for the higher qualityone and was not dissapointed. Our dinner that night & breakfast the next morning were included in our tour and were good. My kiddo enjoyed the pool. I enjoyed the shower pressure. He was tired by the 8pm dinner so unfortunately we went back to the room after a quick bite instead of wandering the streets of Meteora but the folks on our tour who did said it was lovely to do once the sun had set. It was an early morning departure from our hotel to the monasteries, which is quite brilliant as we were one of the first to arrive at our first monastery, which mean it was way less crowded and cooler temperature. It also meant we were at our 2nd monastery before a lot of others too. Quick stop for a photo opp not at a Monastery. The ride back good. All highway.
Marianna was fantastic. She gave enough info at the right time, even kept telling us things during the bus ride. She explained the process well. Perfect, keep up the good work Marianna! Delphi tour we could've done with another hour to do hippodrome & museum. Guide was Nikos. Premila & Gina
Marianna Tsigaridou was our guide and she was so full of knowledge and really made the sites come to life I would highly recommend this trip. It was specatacular. Well worth the money. The sites were so so beautiful. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. Everything is planned perfectly. So nice not to have to think about anything.
Wonderful experience. We really enjoyed traveling with our guide, Julia. Trip was very thoughtfully laid out with stops every 90 minutes. Delphi and Meteora were definitely the best things we saw on the mainland. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Greece!
This two day option was a perfect way to see both historical sites in one extended trip out of Athens. Guides were very knowledgeable and helped support our appreciation of these very old sites. There were an adequate number of rest and lunch stops, and our hotel was very comfortable (4 star option).
Excellent tour guide (Sophia). Very knowledgeable and thorough but still kept things moving. Always kept us updated on what was coming next and what to expect. The sights were amazing. Highly recommend.
The tour guides and locations were excellent. The stops for meals/breaks and accommodations were so-so. Overall, good experience for the price.
This tour was a great way to see Greece outside of Athens. The drive was beautiful and the history was fantastic.
Overall, this was a well-organized and enjoyable tour that allowed us to pack in visits to Delphi and Meteora in the limited time we had while staying in Athens. The coach bus provided was comfortable and was only about 2/3 full so plenty of room to spread out. Our tour guide on the first day when visiting Delphi was outstanding. Even though I wish we had more time at the site that would have allowed a visit to the museum, we were given spare time to make the hike past the Ancient Theater and up to the Ancient Stadium after seeing the Temple of Apollo. There was a tour guide switch at Delphi and unfortunately our new guide was really sub-par. Although filled with much knowledge, her communication abilities were lacking as she droned on in a robotic, badly rehearsed manner. Part of it may have been her lack of English skills as I believe that French and Greek were her first languages. She seemed very new as a tour guide. Meteora was spectacular and the tour of Varlaam was excellent although St Stephan's was less enjoyable given the crowds of tourists at this site. I wish we could have seen more than just 2 of the monasteries but it is understandable given the time constraints. However, we did make several stops along the roadside for great photo opportunities of the region. Lunch on Day 1 was quite good at the Villa Symposium in Delphi. We upgraded to the premium 4-star hotel which was probably not worth it. The Divani Meteora Hotel was nice but felt somewhat outdated. There was a private balcony that overlooked the parking lot and an outdoor pool that we did not use and these items are probably what distinguished it from the 3-star hotel. The dinner served at the hotel and the breakfast buffet which had quite a bit of variety were both of just average quality. In retrospect, I wish I had saved money on the 3 star hotel and used the saved money to find a nice taverna in the town of Kalabaka that night. Our lunch stop on the way back to Athens was at the forgettable roadside stop called Kanelis Village, popular with other coach tours. Overall, even though it involved many hours on the bus, this was a very good tour and well worth the time and money with the exception of our tour guide to Meteora. It offered good value and provided an efficient way to see these two amazing UNESCO World Heritage Sites in less than 36 hours without having to rent a car and drive there ourselves.
Great trip. Best to have the more expensive option. The hotel was great and the food was superb. The stores next to the hotel was the highlight of the trip. Beautiful artisanal pieces for furniture and clothing
Even though it is far from Athens it’s so worth it. Very nice and knowledgeable tour person Maria ( sorry for miss spelling your name) Not only showed the attractions but informed about local goods worth to try. Comfortable hotel and accommodation.
Coming in the off season, our tour group was small and the sites less crowded. Many thanks to our amazing guide, who was very experienced and knowledgeable and made this trip a great one despite the poor weather on the second day.
There is a lot of time spent on the bus, but the views are pleasant and it's nice to see rural parts of Greece. Meteora is one of the most beautiful spots I have seen and going in November was amazing, the Fall leaves were still on the trees. Meteora and Delphi were amazing. The places we stopped to eat were pretty awful
It was worth every penny. The overnight was wise, as it gave the right amount of attention to each site. The Tour Guide was knowledgeable, cheerful and very considerate especially when climbing hills and stairs ... and there is lot of climbing. So glad I booked this tour. Both sites are spectacular and a must for history lovers.
Completely amazing experience to two other world feeling locations. Packed with a lot of information about both sites and the country itself. Our tour guide was so passionate and kept everything well organized. Despite the driver being amazing, Dramamine was a must for me to take due to the route.
This was an excellent way to see two unique sites outside of Athens and they are well worth it. Both leaders/guides were very helpful and shared lots of interesting information about Greece and the local areas along the way. There is a lot of driving time, but that’s the only way to get there, and there are rest stops along the way. We took the 4-star hotel, which was nice but saggy uncomfortable mattresses. Both tour guides (Evan and Catarina) were good.
The tour was well organised.we had 2 guides one who took us to Delphi and the other from Delphi till tour end. Both were very knowledgeable and friendly. Please ensure that you have good walking shoes when climbing up Delphi as in some parts it’s just gravel. Also ensure that you bring a bottle of water. Since the climb + the time taken to absorb the history takes about a hour and a half the tour ends up closer to midday and there may not be sufficient time to visit the museum as it’s time for lunch and the drive to lunch is about half and hour away. If the tour is to include the museum then I think the tour should start around 7.30 am. The drive to kalambaka is very interesting on the winding roads. Along the way our guide Harula who joined us from Delphi gives us the history of the 300 Spartans and the allies who held back a larger Persian army. We were given an opportunity to take photos where they are buried. Harula ensured that we were checked into our hotels. We chose the 4 star hotel and found the room , the dinner n breakfast to be good for the extra money we paid. The trip to the monasteries were great with Harula providing us with all the history. We arrived back to Athens around 6.30pm .it was a very well organised trip and we had Stellos the coach driver who was great , he always parked closed to the sites that we were visiting so that we didn’t have to walk a long distance. Hirula was also great very knowledgeable approachable and with a good sense of humour. Finally there were ample toilet breaks so it was not a rush affair.
A lot of time on the bus. Bus ride was windy and step hills so if you get nausea in buses beware. Take Dramamine if you think you need it.
This tour was very well organized and the historical information provided was thorough and comprehensive. All throughout the bus ride, our guide provided us information on Greece and the areas we were driving through. She was very knowledgeable, and it made the bus ride much more interesting. Our guide was very good at keeping us on schedule, and being clear about the expected meeting times. This tour does give enough time to visit the Monasteries but the Delphi site is quite rushed. If you want sufficient time to visit Delphi, this is not the right tour to choose. During the bus ride, there are sufficient stops for refreshments/meals and bathroom breaks. However, as commonly encountered in this world, the women's line to use the facilities was always long since the stop locations are also used by other tour buses. The schedule changed from what I originally booked, so we visited Leonidas on Day 1 instead of Day 2, and I don't remember this being called out to us at the start of the tour so I was a bit confused about that. I checked the tour description after and it did clearly state that Leonidas was schedule for Day 2 so not sure why that was changed. As for the hotel, I wasn't able to receive a lot of information on the choice of hotels prior to booking, even though I did reach out over chat on Viator, so I chose a 3-star hotel given we were only in the hotel for about 12 hours. The hotel was just OK and didn't come close to the 3-star hotels in Athens. The bed creaked with the slightest movement, there was no hair dryer in the room and only shampoo and a bar of soap for bathroom amenities. The dinner that was included at the hotel was a buffet service and the food was just OK. As an example, they offered Jello as one of the dessert options. I can't attest to the 4-star hotel experience, but it might be better to choose a tour that doesn't include the hotel/dinner option if you want to have a great meal in Meteora.
They tell in to be at pick-up point one hour before the bus turns up! They arrive 35 minutes late and then you drive around Athens for an hour acting as a shuttle for other people that are on another tour. Very poor treatment of paying customers.
If can give more time to give sightseeing pictures, will be better. We are not happy the Drop off not in pickup location
We absolutely loved this tour! It is a perfect option if you want to do an activity outside of Athens. Delphi was our favorite - it also helped that our tour guide Michael was entertaining. Meteora was really great too. The architecture of the monasteries were unique. We chose the 3 star hotel and it was just right.
Well planned trip. Sophia was an excellent guide, great communicator. She spoke slowly and clearly so we could understand. The stops were well timed. Though the bus leaves at 8:15am, lunch isn’t until 1:30 and dinner around 7:30pm so be prepared to bring snacks - you can’t eat on the bus so you need to have them in hand when you get off so you’re not standing in lines. Delphi was a bit rushed -felt we could have stayed an extra 15 minutes. All the other stops were had enough time. Delphi and Metereo was everything I hoped for, though there were no pictures allowed inside the monasteries. Also, please note ladies - to bring a pull-on skirt or large scarf to wrap around your waist at the monasteries. We picked the hotel T class and the food was basic but good variety, the rooms were well proportioned with marble floors and hallways. comparable to holiday inn chain. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip
Our guide, Marianna is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. She offered numerous historical facts -with such great depth and details-about our two sites, Delphi and Meteora, along with information about the landscape outside our bus windows. The ‘whispers’ or electronic connection with ear bud and battery set , allowed us to hear everything she said- even as we navigated the crowded places. Thank you Marianna!
Absolutely must do if you spend any time in Athens. Michael the tour guide was enlightening and fun. You must see the monasteries! Breathtaking!! Lots of steps & steep inclines so wear proper shoes. Upgrade to better hotel-well worth the small price increase. Town of Meteroa is lovely.
It was a very interesting archaeological discovery drawer about ancient Greek, and not so ancient Greek orthodox Christian theories, especially the one in Meteora, which was on top of Paul mountain inspires
This was a wonderful tour and Meteora is not to be missed! Key Tours did a very good job of getting us from place to place, explaining the background of everything we'd see, and feeding us. We had good hotel accommodations. The pacing was comfortable, with bathroom breaks and slow walks up steep steps. Delphi was a little bit rushed and crowded, and there wasn't sufficient time to see all that we would have liked or visited the small museum on site. Small points: The bus rides are long and no water provided, so buy or bring your own.
Very interesting, the guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Meteora is so beautiful and out there that we got chills running down our spines. This is an absolute must if you plan on visiting greece.
Both Delphi and Mateora are worth visiting. Bus ride was very comfortable. Views of the monasteries was breathtaking. I wish they included visit to few more monsteries.
This was an amazing trip! A lot of driving, but plenty of stops were given. Amazing driver, and tour guide. Only thing was that we wished we had more time in Delphi, but we understand that it was a time crunch. If you want more time there, we suggest booking a two night tour.
Fantastic few days to Delphi/Meteora. Yannis and Maria gave us more than expected. Communication could have been better.
Nicholas, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable, humorous, and attentive to the needs of our group on our tour to Delphi and Meteora. The driver was skilled driving the Greek roads and was helpful with our luggage and getting on and off our van.
Extraordinary experience! You cannot visit Greece without seeing Meteora. I cannot describe with words the beauty of this place, it needs to be visited. The tour was done by Keetours ans very well organized. The bus was a Mercedes that could accomodate about 20 passengers, we were only 6. Our guide Irini was an exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and warm hearted guide. Our bus driver, Spiro, made us feel very secure, a very good driver. We chose the 4* Divani Meteora Hotel. Very nice room and clean but no coffee machine in the room. We had the dinner included. I must say that we found the dinner underwhelming, and our biggest disappointment was that coffee wasn't include- we had to pay extra if we wanted any. Since there was no coffee machine in the room, we had to go out to find a coffee shop. All in all, we were very pleased and I would absolutely recommend this excursion without hesitation!
We enjoyed the hike and tour at Delphi. So much more history than just the oracle. The hotel had good food and an outdoor pool. Bus up to the monasteries in Meteora, with an interesting surprise stop. Monasteries were full Byzantine art and architecture, and truly breathtaking views. Ladies, must wear skirts in the monasteries, but there were available for loan.
Overall a good tour, comfortable bus and a helpful guide. Visited some amazing places but I wish we had more stops to take pictures along the way. For example we stopped in a beautiful town of Arachova at a local tourist trap gift shop but were not told that just 200 meters away there is an amazing lookout at the town clock tower and we just drove past it after the shop. Also, I wouldn't bother with a 4 star hotel, the beds were really old and uncomfortable and the view of the mountains was blocked by the adjacent building.
This was a perfect start to our Greek holiday. Everything went smoothly from pick up to drop off. Our guide Katia was knowledgeable about the history of Greece. Sit back, relax and take it all in
When we arrived in Athens, we went to the ticket office to double check we were able to be picked up from there for the tour. A lady worker said yes, come here by 8 am. Nothing further was said. Next morning we arrived there by 8 am and a female worker rudely said to go around the corner to the bus - tried to say we were told to come there - even more rudely and with attitude, she said “yes! go around the corner!” On that point alone we would never go on another tour with this business. So around the corner we went and had to ask each bus which one we go on. The tour guide Dimitri was friendly and very informative along the way to Delphi. We got the encyclopedia of info for about an hour - dates, places, history. Way too much information! Felt like being back at school without the lunch break. Got to Delphi and were told to swap bus to one where others were carrying on to Kalabaka. We knew then that this was a big business racket, making sure they mixed groups for maximum profit. The lady guide on the next part also talked way too much facts etc. She had no personality, just factual and ho hum. The free dinner and breakfast were so so, the hotel could have been better to match the trip price - internet pathetic as well. What with all the places we visited along the way, the pre planned places to eat and show wares (with pushy salespeople), we both would never go on another “tour”. It’s a profitable business, not a tour. Lastly, watching the bus driver in the rear view mirror grooming his beard while driving and then talking on his cell phone for some time, again while driving - all this seems unsafe practice with passengers being the main responsibility. They were more concerned with no eating on the bus to avoid messing up the upholstery than whether we made it to our destination or not. This will be our last “tour” with Key Tours. You should rename yourselves Key Sales.
The trip was wonderful. The tour had only 13 people, which made for lots of space to spread out and relax on the comfortable, air-conditioned bus. Our driver was amazing and smooth. Our guide, Christina, was wonderful, helpful, patient but firm, and very knowledgeable. She taught us so much! The trip was simply fabulous
Very proffesional guides for Delphi (sorry forgot his name) and Meteora Tour (Dimitrios). Our driver Stelios made me feel very safe. The coach was immaculate with comfortable seats and great aircon. Highly recommend !!
