Andreus was an exceptional guide. He was wonderful at modifying the schedule for my husband who doesn’t walk well. He is a wealth of knowledge. Helped us get tickets to the Acropolis Museum. He even gave us a parting gift of Greek liqueurs!

1. The Acropolis of Athens is a rocky hill 156 meters above sea level and approximately 70 meters above the level of the city of Athens. The Parthenon is a temple built in honor of the goddess Athena, patroness of the city of Athens. Τhe architects who worked were Iktinos, Kallikratis, and possibly Phidias (5th century BC). Finally, we will see the Erechtheion with the famous Karyatidis and the Propylaea.
The Parthenon is a temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Its construction began in 447 BC and was completed in 438 BC, although decorations of the Parthenon continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art.
The Erechtheion is an ancient Greek Ionic temple on the north side of the Acropolis, which was primarily dedicated to the goddess Athena.
The Temple of Athena Nike is a temple on the Acropolis of Athens, dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike.
The Theatre of Dionysus is an ancient Greek theatre in Athens. It is built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill, originally part of the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus.
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus also called Herodion is a stone Roman theatre structure located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis.

The Greek Parliament, the old Palace of king Othon which is located in Syntagma Square and the Unknown Soldier Monument which is guarded 24 hours a day by the Presidential Guard
4. Like the Acropolis, the temple of Olympian Zeus has been a distinctive Athenian landmark since time immemorial. The Pillars of Olympian Zeus, the outdoor ancient temple of Athena. The Temple of Olympian Zeus is a half-complete temple dedicated to Zeus, chief of Olympian Gods. It’s impressive history and destruction make the site interesting to study and its size a popular tourist attraction. It’s surrounded by other monuments, such as the Kallimarmaro stadium, the Hadrian’s Arch, and Zappeion Megaron. It’s within walking distance from the Athens center, 500 m east of the Acropolis and south from the Syntagma Square.
3. Panathenaic Stadium or else known as Kallimarmaro stadium – the oldest in operation stadium of the world, where the Olympics Games have been held three times. It is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble.
The Zappeion is a large, palatial building next to the National Gardens of Athens in the heart of Athens, Greece. It is generally used for meetings and ceremonies, both official and private and is one of the city's most renowned modern landmarks.
The National Garden or Royal Garden is a public park (38 acres) in the center of the Greek capital. It is located directly behind the Greek Parliament building (The Old Palace) and continues to the South to the area where the Zappeion is located, across from the Kalimarmaro. The Garden also encloses some ancient ruins, side are the busts of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece, and of the Philhellene Jean-Gabriel Eynard, of the celebrated Greek poets Dionysios Solomos, author of the Greek National Hymn, and Aristotelis Valaoritis.
The Arch of Hadrian, most commonly known in Greek as Hadrian's Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling—in some respects—a Roman triumphal arch. It spanned an ancient road from the center of Athens, Greece, to the complex of structures on the eastern side of the city that included the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843. It is located in front of the 19th-century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. Syntagma Square is the most important square of modern Athens from both a historical and social point of view, at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics.
6. We will see the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, above the central square of Athens.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is an integral part of the modern Greek intellectual tradition, life, and international presence. It successfully combines an old established name and authority with dynamic development and creative participation in modern letters and science. It is the oldest University in the country, founded by the Royal Decree of 22 April 1837 under the name “Othonian University”, as the first king of modern Greece, Otto of Bavaria, was its founder. Initially, it consisted of four Schools (of Theology, Law, Medicine, and Philosophy, the latter still comprising at that time Mathematics and Applied Sciences) with a total of 52 students. Its first seat was a neo-classical house on the north slope of the Akropolis hill, originally the home of the architect Stamatis Kleanthis (today the Museum of the University’s History is housed there).
The Academy of Athens is Greece's national academy, and the highest research establishment in the country. It was established in 1926, with its founding principle traces back to the historical Academy of Plato, and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The Academy's main building is one of the major landmarks of Athens.
National Library (Vallianeion) This glorious neoclassical reading room once housed over 2 million books and manuscripts, among them 5.200 manuscripts that include over 300 Greek New Testament manuscripts and hand-written renditions of works by Aristotle, Plato and Homer.
7. Plaka is the oldest and most charming district in Athens. It lies right below the Acropolis Winding medieval alleyways with romantic narrow steps, neoclassical mansions and houses with red tiles and balconies with colorful flowers characterize the neighborhood The Greek literature often called Plaka the neighborhood of the Gods Typical Greek taverns and street cafés serving ice-cold frappés are also characteristics of the area.
Lively Monastiraki is known for iconic landmarks including the ruins of Hadrian’s Library, the Ancient Agora and the rebuilt Stoa of Attalos, with a museum exhibiting Athenian artifacts.
Once the most luxurious public building in the city, Hadrian’s Library was erected around AD 132. It has an internal courtyard and pool bordered by 100 columns.
The Stoa of Attalos was a stoa in the Agora of Athens, Greece. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC.
The agora was a central public space in ancient Greek city-states. It is the best representation of a city-state's response to accommodate the social and political order of the polis. The literal meaning of the word "agora" is "gathering place" or "assembly".

Andreas our driver was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and kind. He drove us to all of the major highlights of the city and gave us a very interesting explanation about the history of each place we visited. Since it was a private tour Andreas did not rush us (even when we were slightly over the 8 hour tour time) for anything and we were able to have a great experience at each landmark, he also took some great photos for us! It's great to see the city but it was amazing having a local private tour guide to explain everything to us. This tour was great for couples and we did it as part of our honeymoon. There was no problem dealing with crowds, we could just slip in and out of every landmark with no issues. Andreas ensured that we were comfortable the whole time giving us a safe place to leave our belongings so we didn't have to carry bags everywhere. He also supplied us with cold bottled water and air conditioning to combat the June heat. I cannot recommend this tour enough and if you are lucky enough to have Andreas as your driver you are guaranteed to have an amazing experience.
Andreas provided a wonderful tour of Athens. We had an awesome time.
This tour was amazing! I found the tour “Private City Tour of Athens” with Greece Athens Taxi from a link my local travel agent sent me. Marina from GAT reached out to me right away. She confirmed our booking and let me know the other services they offer. One was airport pickup and drop off. I immediately booked an airport pickup. Our driver was Andreas, who was also our tour guide. I booked our tour for the day after we arrived in Athens. When Andreas picked us up, he graciously took us to a local coffee shop for coffee and a quick breakfast. Andreas took us all over Athens. This is what we saw, maybe not in the correct order. The Acropolis (GAT secured our skip-the-line tickets) and Mars Hill (Andreas was very detailed about how to get to Mars Hill after we left the Acropolis). The Changing of the Guards, Olympic Stadium, a fantastic view of the city of Mount Lycabettus, and the colleges. By the time we got to the colleges, we were exhausted, so we took pictures with Plato and Aristotle on another day. The entire time, Andreas was telling us details of the different neighborhoods, museum locations, monuments, and the symbolism of the Guards' uniform. He is very knowledgeable, detailed, and answered any questions. Our tour ended with a drop off in Monastiraki for shopping. Andreas has become my go-to for airport pickups, drop offs, and tours. I highly recommend Greece Athens Taxi with Andreas.
A great way to go around key places in Athens. Self-paced. Friendly and comfortable service. Zero stress. Personal service from booking to driving. Nice transportation

Spyros was an amazing driver and very knowledgable. We enjoyed his company and story telling. He took us great places to eat and to a great shopping area.
Perfect half day tour of Athens with Andreas. Saw Acropolis museum, presidential palace with guards changing: very traditional and impressive. Olympic stadium and cultural centre: excellent views over Athens. Andreas was the perfect driver/guide. Spotless and very comfortable car. Highly recommend this tour!
We had a fabulous experience with this company. They first did a tour for 12 of us. Our driver/ guide, Konstantinos, was wonderful. Informative. Guided us brilliantly around the city. We were always at the right place at the right time. The van was quite comfortable. Truly a memorable day. The company also provided many transfers for us. A great experience!
Excellent experience from booking to communication with Operator (Marina) and then the actual tour with Spyros. The tour is set up to be tailored to whatever you want to see and though the driver is not a guide our experience with Spyros was that he was as knowledgeable as any guide and shared pertinent information regarding the sites and Athens in the general. Great experience, highly recommend.
Our private driver, Spyros, was beyond excellent! He navigated and explained Athens extremely well despite the heavy rain. He even purchased new umbrellas for us to use that was a life saver while at the Acropolis. By the end of our tour, the four of us felt so comfortable with our new friend. I highly recommend this tour with Spyros!
Excellent communication prior to arrival. Wonderful tour guide who was so knowledgeable, interesting and flexible with last minute changes. Highly recommend.
I cannot say enough about the wonderful tour we had with Konstantinos! We had a long wait after our cruise before we needed to go to the airport. I reached out last minute to see if we could book a tour to take us to the temple of poseidon and from the moment we enquired, the customer service was exceptional! We were picked up at the cruise port and Konstantinos gave us a bunch of options to spend our day. We visited Platka, the coast (which was stunning) the temple and then had a late lunch before being dropped off at the airport. Konstantinos answered questions and gave us history about the places we passed by. It was a wonderful way to finish up our trip and we didn't have to spend day waiting to catch our flight. We'll worth the money! Thank you so much for the tremendous day!
Very good 5 hour tour. Our driver Andreas was very informative. It was exactly what was described in the advertisement. Our driver was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Nicholas was a great Tour Guide very informative. The vehicle was clean and it was nice that there was plenty of cold water.
We had an absolutely incredible experience with Nicholas as our driver in Athens! From start to finish, he made the day seamless, comfortable, and truly unforgettable. His driving skills were outstanding, navigating the city with ease and ensuring we could relax and enjoy every moment. What really stood out was his deep knowledge of Athens’ monumental landmarks. At each stop, Nicholas shared fascinating history, stories, and insights that brought the sites to life in a way we would have never experienced on our own. He knew exactly where to go for the best views and photo opportunities, making every stop special. Nicholas was not only professional but also warm and welcoming, making us feel completely at ease throughout the journey. Thanks to him, we were able to see so much in a short amount of time, all while traveling in comfort and learning along the way. If you’re looking for the perfect way to explore Athens, I can’t recommend Nicholas enough. He made our tour exceptional, blending history, hospitality, and first-class driving into one unforgettable day!
Andreas was a great guy showed us a lot of beautiful places. His English was good. He was fun. I recommend him 100% you will not be sorry about it. He will show you a great time.
Andreas was informative and we were able to see everything we wanted to! Would definitely recommend!
My husband and I did two private tours with Andreas and we can’t say enough good things about him and the tour. He takes the time to make sure that you are comfortable and that you see all that Athens has to offer. He is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions that we had about the city. He took extra time to make sure that we saw spots that he thought that we would love, and we did! The tour company, and especially, Marina is very helpful and eager to help. I really can’t recommend these tours enough. -Katie and Scott (US)
it was great!! Our tour guide was so friendly and sooo knowledgeable. Answered all questions and made sure we saw everything of importance ! Thank you so much for a wonderful day.
We had an excellent day in Athens with our driver/guide Andreas! We were taken to the top sites in the city with Andreas explaining the historical significance of each location. He also listened to our interests and pointed us in the right direction to maximize our time. Andreas moved us along at just the right pace so that even our young adult kids remained interested and engaged. Would highly recommend this tour for those with a limited amount of time in the city but desiring to see the main attractions. He even took the time to send us recommended locations to eat that were near our hotel, after our “official” tour was over!
The tour was great. They took the time to book our tickets to the Acropolis ahead of time. Very convenient
Terrific driver; great commentary; great car; a wonderful half a day. My strongest recommendation for Andreas and his company
We booked this tour to fill the space from our cruise disembarkation until our room was ready for check in, and I’m so glad we did! Our guide was Andreas and he seemed to know everyone in Athens (which was a good thing!). He timed our tour perfectly to where we didn’t have to wait in any lines, and we were able to store our five big bags in the van while we toured the city. Perfect option for anyone looking for a way to fill time either pre or post cruise!
Great guide and experience. The drive was kind and knowledgeable I would recommend this tour when visiting !
Our tour of Athens was very informative and enjoyable. We were able to see what we wanted with great suggestions from our guide, at our leasure.
Book it! Book it now with Andreas as your driver! After a long flight I was met inside the terminal to begin my private tour. Andreas was the best guide/driver I had in all of Europe. He is a very professional driver and has a passion for the history of his city. His expertise is second to none! Next time I am in Athens I will be using this tour again!
We had limited time in Athens between cruises. We booked a private tour to maximize our time with the most important points of interest. Andreas was our guide for the day. The night before Andreas made contact with us to confirm pick up and plans for the day. The morning of the tour we were met on time by Andreas. Off we went, stopping for coffee briefly enroute to our first stop. The entire day Andreas was aware of our timing and he made sure we were in the right place at the right time. We seemed to stay ahead of the crowds and while he dropped us off at sites he was always with us. When we exited a venue, a brief text/call to Andreas would make him appear exactly as discussed. On to the next venue. Probably the highlight of the day was when Andreas took us to the Presidential Palace where we stood directly across the street and watched the changing of the guards while Andreas described the meaning of the uniforms and the procession. Andreas could not have been more professional with his punctuality and his knowledge. The day ended with Andreas returning us to our hotel with many suggestions for our evening.
Andreas was very knowledgeable and hospitable. We really enjoyed our time getting to know more about Athens and it's history. He also gave us good tips and advice for our time in the city. The tour was packed with all of the things you want to see. I would definitely take this tour!
The whole team at Athens taxi was incredible to work with- we used them for 3 separate occasions during our stay- they were all great!! They all made you feel like you were their most important client while you were with them and even gave great recommendations for food and other sites to see!
Our driver, Seamus, was professional, personable, knowledgeable and absolutely amazing! He was punctual, prepared, and gave us great insight into the history of Athens and the country of Greece!
Costantino was wonderful, one of the hotel reservations was changed at the last minute and he picked us up at one hotel and then one block from the other hotel ( the street was too narrow for the minivan). He prepurchased tickets for us and we paid him so we didn’t wait in line. One of our party became lightheaded and he took us early to our cruise dock at our request. I highly recommend this precruise excursion.
We used this service for transportation from the airport to our hotel the 1st day, and then the private tour of Athens…:we had Andreas for day 1 and Kostantinos for our tour- they are so professional, courteous, knowledgeable- made our experience amazing! They went above and beyond for us. Would tell you that if you don’t book with them when in Athens- it is a mistake- they are the best!!
Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with driver Andreas during our recent stay in Athens. He was descriptive in his explanations and knew how to minimize the lines/crowds. And he went above & beyond when one in our party fractured his ankle at the top of the Acropolis! First class service. We would definitely recommend this driver and tour.
Our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable. Prompt and attentive. This turned out to be the best excursion of out entire trip!
My husband and I visited Athens for four days mid September and part of our trip included a tour of Athens on the Sunday. On the Saturday, we received WhatsApp messages from Marina, the Administrative Assistant and Booking Agent of GAT. She confirmed that our driver would pick us up from our hotel at 9.00 am the following morning. She also sent across mobile tickets for the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Later on Saturday, Marina unfirmed that Andreas would be our driver on the Sunday. On Sunday we went outside the hotel doors just before 9.00 am and Andreas was there, waiting for us. Our first port of call was the Acropolis. I use a wheelchair and Andreas explained he would drive us as far up as was possible and when we arrived, he showed us where to go to get the golf buggy and lift up to the Acropolis. This was really helpful as, otherwise, we would have needed to find somebody who could help us. On the way to the Acropolis, Andreas explained that, although we had some timings, the tour could be how we wanted it - eg, we could spend longer in some places and skip others. Having contact via WhatsApp was great as it meant we just needed to let Andreas know when we had finished and he would come and meet us. We had a great time visiting the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, the Panathenaic Stadium, driving past the Temple of Zeus, the Hellenic Parliament, Zappeion, stopping at Syntagma Square to watch the Changing of the Guard, before ending our trip with a visit to Plaka, where we saw sights such as Hadrian's Library and the Ancient Agora of Athens. Andreas was a great driver and guide. He spoke great English and was very charming and friendly. He shared a wealth of information on the different sites and the history of Athens, tailoring the information to suit us. We particularly enjoyed him explaining the history of the Panathenaic Stadium and, because we were particularly interested in the Stadium, Andreas made the time to stop outside, so that we could go into the Stadium and have a look round. This was the perfect tour of Athens for us. We got to see everything we particularly wanted to see and more besides. Andreas was such a friendly driver and great guide and made the day even more enjoyable.
Marina (?) from the GAT office reached out to us after booking with great communication of what to expect and confirm what sites we were interested in seeing. We had a great day touring Athens with Andreas. He was on time to pick us up from our cruise ship and his car was immaculate. Riding around an air conditioned comfort in August was wonderful. Andreas is very knowledgeable about the city and historic sites and made sure we saw everything that was on our list.
Andreas was our guide, he picked us up from our hotel in a very comfortable, clean air conditioned van, Andrea’s was very informative and interesting and brought us to all the major sites in Athens. He made the tour fun and we learnt so much about Athens. We highly recommend this tour as a great way to see the city!
We had an awesome driver who was knowledgeable! We trusted them for all of the arrangements and times for the excursions and it worked perfect for our one day trip to Athens! Beautiful experience having a personal driver!
Andreas was exceptional He tailored the experience to our requests He was Very professional and engaging Highly recommend for a good introduction to Athens
Over priced! I didn't quite understand the tour operator's communication. They ended up charging an additional $250 to take us to the airport on top of the $347.00 tour. The average cab ride is $67.00. They said that they booked us for an entire day, but our 9:50pm flight was canceled so we had to get to the airport to try and change the flight to a 3:30pm flight. He dropped us off at 2:00pm and left.
We had a great time touring parts of the city with great conversation on the history. We were able to customize it since we were doing the Acropolis the following day. Overall great private exerpience!
Our driver, Andreas was professional, personable and very pleasant to be with for 4 1/2 hours. He had some very good overviews for us and planned a great itinerary with appropriate stops along the route. He was also great to communicate through WhatsApp and we never had trouble reuniting after we had done a venue. His Mercedes was clean and very comfortable and it was a five star tour
Our favorite part of the tour was traveling to the Acropolis and seeing the Parthenon. Our guide was very informative about all the sites we visited.
Andres was fabulous! He was polite, shared excellent information. Took us places and helped us see things that would be of interest to us, highly recommend! Great English as well.
We had a private tour of Athens and saw all of the city sights in about 5 hours. Andreas was our guide and he was fantastic! He told us a lot about the various sights we visited and his suggestions of places to see and go were great. We had a lot of fun on our tour and appreciated Andreas’ expertise and driving abilities!
We had a great tour with Andreas. We learned so much about Athens and Greece and had so much fun while doing it. Andreas had great suggestions and accommodated all our requests.
There is a lot of walking in this tour, it is very hot, and be very cautious of personal items in the crowds. The driver was very knowledgeable and friendly however.
Only note I’d make is that a tour guide to enter places like the Acropolis is not included. You will have to do self tours.
We had a great day with Andreas. We learned so much and got to see so much of the city we wouldn’t have otherwise. Highlights were changing of the guard and Acropolis. Andreas knew so much about the city and every stop we had. He was happy to cater to our needs with our 4 kids.
