Mmmm, Just checked into Xenophon Hotel in Athens! 😅 Definitely tired and dated—pretty sure those sleek online photos were telling a few porkies! We’ll see how the beds actually sleep tonight and how breakfast turns out tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed, but at least it’s right by the metro! 🤞 metro station nearby makes getting into central Athens easy.

Honestly cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Our experience was absolutely terrible. We booked two rooms through Booking.com based on the beautiful photos shown online, but when we arrived, the reality was completely different and extremely disappointing. The rooms were nothing like what we expected from the listing. We were so unhappy that we wanted to leave and cancel the reservation, but the hotel refused to cooperate with the cancellation. We ended up paying for an experience we absolutely did not want. The whole situation felt incredibly unfair and ruined the beginning of our stay in Athens. Beautiful pictures online, completely different experience in reality. I would NEVER book this place again. Think twice before booking!
I strongly recommend staying away from this hotel. We booked two rooms through Booking.com based on the photos shown online, which made the rooms look beautiful, clean, and comfortable. What we found when we arrived was completely different. The reality was shocking — the rooms looked nothing like what was advertised and the overall conditions were absolutely unacceptable. We immediately asked to cancel our booking because we did not want to stay there, but the hotel refused to cancel it or refund our money. We are now €1,200 out of pocket for rooms we could not accept staying in. In my opinion, the photos create a completely misleading impression of what you actually get. A terrible and extremely disappointing experience. Think very carefully before booking this hotel, especially if you are relying on the photos shown online.
Everything was good – the cleanliness, the service, and the food was decent. The only downside was the bathroom, which had a very low ceiling and an incredibly small shower cabin. Considering its price and overall quality, I believe this hotel offers excellent value for money.
There are quite a few supermarkets nearby, so the location is pretty convenient. But this damn hotel won’t even turn on the AC in May, and the staff have a really crappy attitude — definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Also, if your room faces the back, congrats… the trains are super loud all the way until midnight.
