Only a short walk to the major historical and cultural sites, MONUMENT hits a home run. The service was exceptional, and the location even better. The breakfast started our day properly, and their Fredo Cappuccino was A+.

I have been traveling to Greece my whole life. My family is from Akrata and I have aunts, uncles, and cousins in Athens I visit every year. This year, my Greece trip coincided with my partner and my anniversary. We had booked the Nidus suite for our special day. Unfortunately, our flight was canceled due to storms in New York. I immediately called the hotel to cancel our reservation or rebook (it was 9 am in Greece) and nobody picked up at the front desk for 3 hours. Once I finally got in touch with Elias, the hotel manager, he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I can understand not providing a refund at such late notice, but we had asked to rebook for the following week as we would be back in Athens during that time. The hotel had availability during this day (half of their rooms were available), and Elias provided no assistance in rebooking or a partial refund or credit. This is very uncommon for a “luxury” hotel, where we spent $800 on a one night booking. DO NOT stay here if you’re looking for good service at such a high price point for Greece. There are far better options in Athens.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY ITS MICHELIN LISTED PROPERTY! IT MEANS NOTHING! IT SHOULD NOT EVEN BE ON THERE! Location felt rough & unsafe. My husband did not want me to walk around by myself or leave the property with out him ...and we are from New York City. A City that too has both good and rough areas. Last summer we booked a stay at this hotel and did not even unpack our bags... it had an unpleasant smell (foul water damage or sewage smell) the property had poor ventilation. They use many fragrance dispensers throughout the interior to cover up smell. Due to allergies and being immune compromised I am sensitive to fragrance and it became so overwhelming it causes headaches, nausea, sneezing, and eye irritation. There was not an elevator for bags. I felt very bad that a person had to lug our large bags all the way up the stairs by hand. We tried to request a refund with the in person Monument Employee / Owners & where unsuccessful - even with needing to move due to health concerns with the foul smells.
Our stay at Monument Hotel Athens was truly unforgettable. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and from the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to make us feel so welcomed and cared for. They surprised us with an upgrade to a beautiful room with an Acropolis view and private terrace — such a special touch that made our trip even more memorable. The hospitality was incredible. The staff took the time to give us amazing dinner recommendations, helped arrange a massage for us in their Spa, and genuinely made us feel at home throughout our stay. Every interaction felt thoughtful and personal, and it was clear how much they care about their guests’ experience. Monument Hotel was the perfect place for our Greece trip, and we are so grateful for their hospitality. We cannot recommend it enough and would love to return someday!
The room “Glint” on the first floor is not up to standards. No natural light, noisy, smelly, badly planned, no real bathroom, neighbor window at 3 meters. Squeaky bed frame… You don’t have a proper bathroom, as in you’re brushing your teeth in a small toilet room, with a shower in a different space. The bed is facing the main door, which feels very odd! At night, there are lots of light at night coming from the hallway through door frame, a red light next to the door (no idea what it is) the ac controller, and from the street. Lots of noise coming from both inside the hotel and the street. AC is not efficient, it took 2 hours to get the temperature down at night, in may! Staff was super lovely, but this particular room is at “hostel” level. This is unfortunate as the other rooms look very good and the building itself well renovated.
