We had a wonderful experience with King George. The team was exceptionally accommodating and responsive throughout the stay, and they went above and beyond to make the visit comfortable and special. The suite was beautiful, breakfast at Tudor Hall was excellent, and the service was consistently warm and professional. We were especially grateful for how thoughtfully the team handled our requests. A truly memorable stay in Athens.

I spent one night here enroute to Santorini, so my exposure to the hotel was admittedly limited. That, however, has never stopped me from forming an opinion or expressing it. I have stayed at comparable properties, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme and The Savoy on The Strand in London, for example, and what distinguished those hotels was a sense that the service and surroundings were in conversation with one another. At King George, the conversation seemed to have been postponed indefinitely. Pros: The Syntagma Square location is excellent. The room was comfortable and well appointed, the hotel is conveniently situated for shopping, and the nearby National Garden is beautiful. Cons: The complimentary liqueur was wasted on this teetotaler, while the candy was not to my liking. A small thing, admittedly, but one wonders why complimentary offerings would be selected that effectively exclude a fairly substantial portion of guests. The larger issue, however, was attitude. I understand brand associations. I understand that customer-facing employees are told they embody the brand and represent its ethos. Which is why I found myself wondering whether anyone has recently told the team that an iconic five-star boutique property does not mandate five-star levels of stuffiness. The doormen did not hold the door. The bell staff were reluctant to assist with luggage. The front desk offered little in the way of ownership when things went awry. Tudor Hall seemed to operate without any particular sense of urgency. The food was uneven, with a somewhat haphazard selection of offerings, and the scattered wait staff seemed to have been assembled rather than managed. None of these things, individually, is catastrophic. Collectively, they erode the very thing a luxury hotel is selling: the feeling that attention, intention, and, care is the core offering. Wishlist: Attitude is half the battle, or so I hear. Though I am unlikely to revisit in the foreseeable future, I hope the staff receives rigorous luxury-hospitality training. Here’s to wishing.
The King George Hotel was our very first stop on our honeymoon, and we truly could not have asked for a better way to begin the trip. From the moment we arrived, everything felt incredibly luxurious and thoughtful. The hotel itself is beautiful and even smelled amazing throughout. We loved the complimentary flavored water stations and the bottled waters available to take with us while exploring Athens — such a small detail, but one that made the stay feel especially polished and convenient. What made the experience even more memorable was how much effort the staff put into celebrating our honeymoon. They decorated our room and surprised us with champagne and strawberries, which was incredibly sweet. After more than ten hours of flying and traveling, walking into such a romantic welcome made us feel so special and immediately put us into honeymoon mode. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our bags were taken care of from the second we opened the car door, and every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and professional. The location was also fantastic and made exploring Athens incredibly easy. We absolutely loved our stay and would return without hesitation. If you are looking for a luxurious, romantic, and beautifully located hotel in Athens, especially for a special occasion, the King George is an amazing choice!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful stay at the King George Hotel Athens overall. The location is superb, the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The breakfast room is also beautiful, with an amazing view of the Acropolis. The staff in the breakfast room were exceptional — attentive, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They really made our mornings enjoyable. Unfortunately, our experience at reception was very disappointing. We arrived from Montreal, Canada, extremely jet-lagged and, despite our loyalty status, had to wait around three hours in the lobby. We expected a much more welcoming and attentive experience, especially as returning loyal guests. What made the situation even worse was our interaction with a lady from the lobby service, Anna Nikolaou. She spoke to us very rudely and disrespectfully in front of my guests, which was embarrassing and completely unacceptable. It is a shame because so many aspects of the hotel were excellent. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the reception experience did not reflect the otherwise high standard of the hotel. The hotel has a superb location, beautiful rooms, incredibly comfortable beds and pillows, an outstanding breakfast room with an Acropolis view, and excellent breakfast staff. Unfortunately, the reception experience needs significant improvement.
Probably the best Marriott we have been too. Spectacular view, luxury room, excellent excellent food and drink. Customer service is a little extra for us since we are very self-efficient. Other people probably enjoy it though. The moment you step in this hotel you don't have to be worried about anything, you have the questions/demand they will try their best to answer/acommodate your best interest. They actually answer your text massage in Marriot App. They also checked our passport again when we came back for the key because of safety reasons. I found it very reasonable and right to do so. Safety and customer service are probably their priority. Try their main restaurant on the 7th floor if you have a chance, you will experience the spectacular view of Acropolis of Athen at night and many food of Greece just in their appetizer and dessert alone. Highly recommend!
