We loved the Athens Was hotel. The staff was kind and very helpful, including helping us arrange for a guided tour of the Acropolis. The location in Plaka is ideal. Easy to walk everywhere in a vibrant neighborhood. The rooftop restaurant Sense, put on a lovely breakfast with delicious breads, Greek yogurt with house-made granola, and spectacular views! We had to depart at 4:30am to make a flight to London as we started our 28 hour trek home to Colorado, and the hotel prepared thoughtful, nutritious and delicious breakfast boxes for use that were greatly appreciated. We love Athens and would happily book the Athens Was hotel again.
We had a great stay at AthensWas Hotel. The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and in an excellent location. It’s just a short walk to the Acropolis and Parthenon, which made sightseeing incredibly convenient. The location is also great for walking around and exploring Athens.
We really enjoyed the restaurant as well—the food was very good and it was a nice addition to the hotel. Overall, a comfortable stay in a fantastic location. We would definitely stay here again.
We loved our stay at AthensWas hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in an amazing location..close to many historic sites and great places to eat. We only had one night to stay, but the hotel truly helped us make the most of our time. They assisted us in booking a driver to pick us up at the airport (highly recommend) and they helped us to book a private tour guide(also highly recommend). Our driver was amazing and professional. Then we spent a 3 hour tour with our guide. She was incredible. My husband always loved history ( I was more the science/math type) but my love for history happened in Athens. Without her knowledge and information, we would have never known so many details about different points of interest, as well as amazing details of the Acropolis. The hotel provided us with a great recommendation for dinner as well. Be sure to take advantage of their breakfast offering. We had an amazing view of the Acropolis and the food was outstanding. Speaking of outstanding, the staff at this hotel was top notch. The front desk and concierge staff as well as all the staff that worked at their dining spots. We only had one night here before we had to leave for our next destination, but they helped us enjoy our time and make the most of our short visit. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is in a great location close to the Acropolis and its museum, on the edge of Plaka, but away from the main road on a pedestrianised street. It's also close to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the National Garden and Parliament. We were made to feel most welcome, with a welcome drink, luggage storage and we received a call when our room was ready early. The manager and staff were excellent and helped us brilliantly when we left an item of clothing in the room. The room was lovely. We ate at Sense - fabulous food, wine and exceptional service. Great to eat fantastic food while viewing the Acropolis at sunset. A la carte breakfast here as well - also excellent. This was our second stay and we'll be back when next in Athens.
We had a wonderful holiday. The location is in the most elegant, accessible, and spacious part of the historic district. It is only 150 meters from the entrance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum, and you can easily reach Plaka, Monastiraki, Psiri, and Syntagma with a pleasant walk. Transportation from the airport is very simple via the M3 metro line (you can get off at Syntagma and walk, or transfer to the M2 Red Line, get off at the Acropolis station, and reach the hotel with a 1.5-minute walk).
The staff are extremely polite and helpful. We would especially like to thank Anna and (if I remember correctly, apologies if I’m mistaken) Ares, who work in the breakfast area. The hotel is fantastic in terms of concept and design.
A small tip for those considering a reservation: breakfast is served à la carte. We found it a bit challenging on the first day as well, but thanks to Anna, everything became very easy. The food quality and presentation are outstanding (breakfast is served at “Sense Restaurant,” which is already listed in the Michelin Guide).
From check-in to check-out, we had a wonderful holiday thanks to the excellent service of all the staff. We would like to thank the management for embracing such a high standard of quality and service.
