Athens Lotus Hotel

THIS IS A SCAM. The worst hotel experience I have ever had. We booked a superior king room and the room we ended up with was completely different to the one advertised online. Not just that but the room we were given was a complete eyesore, as can be seen from the photos. When we asked to change rooms to the one we had actually booked the staff first stalled and said that we should be able to tomorrow. Then, when tomorrow came, they told us they couldn’t because they were fully booked. I checked this online and there were loads of rooms available. However they kept lying and insisting that we couldn’t change room. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience, amplified by the constant condescension of the staff whenever we tried to have a conversation with them. At one point one of the staff members even said ‘I understand that the room is different to the ones online but I think ours are better’. Despite this acknowledgement that they had completely misrepresented the rooms online we were still unable to get a refund. We had booked for four nights but left after one because the experience was so unpleasant.

Extremely disappointing and misleading – not as advertised This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. The room we were given was completely different from the room shown in the photos when we made the reservation. The pictures and the actual room did not match at all, which made us feel that the accommodation was seriously misleading.On top of that, the air conditioning was another unacceptable issue. We were not allowed to control the air conditioning ourselves from inside the room. Instead, we had to contact the staff downstairs and ask them to adjust it for us. This is completely unacceptable, especially considering that guests should have basic control over the comfort and temperature of their own room. We booked this hotel based on the photos and description presented on Booking.com, and what we received was not what we paid for. This was extremely frustrating and left us feeling deceived.Overall, a complete disappointment. The room was not as advertised, the facilities were not as expected, and the experience did not justify the price at all. I would strongly recommend other travelers to think twice before booking and to be very careful about relying on the photos shown.

The best thing about this hotel was the breakfast. I would the food 10 stars! Clean and lots of options! Very good! The room was extremely small but perfectly clean. Amazing water pressure and spacious shower! The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. There is only a comforter with a douvet over it. If you want a sheet, you have to ask for one. The bed was soft but I couldn't even feel the other person when they moved or rolled over or got up. We had a third person in our room, and they set up a cot for her. The cot was extremely uncomfortable and all of the wheels were broken, so we couldn't even slide it around. We ended up taking the mattress from the cot, and putting it on the floor. We folded the cot and put it in the corner. The room is extremely crowded. There was a mini refrigerator which was nice. Make a note to bring your own washcloths since they don't give them out. The lobby has tables and chairs and a couch to relax. Non of those are in the room. Only bed and end table. The lowest they will set the temperature is twenty two degrees Celsius , and you must ask. You do not have control over the temperature. Make sure your window is closed and the handle is latched for your air condition to turn on. Our first 2 days the cleaners left them opened and when we got back to our room, after extremely hot days, we went into hot rooms where we had to wait for it to cool down. It was very frustrating. The workers in the lobby were very kind and always greeted us and said goodbye to us on our way in and out. The location is not in the best area. The streets around the hotel are very dirty, and most of the shops are closed down. Overall, i would give this hotel a six out of ten.

Had a wonderful stay there. Excellent location, literally 100 paces from the metro exit and it is within a walking distance to/from the city centre. I walked a few times. Friendly and helpful staff. Fresh and good quality food for breakfast. The common areas are clean and well maintained. 24/7 reception. The room was clean and spacious with all the standard amenities (+slippers, hairdryer, safe). Don’t be put off by the area the hotel is in or be intimidated by the graffitis on the nearby buildings. Not fair if such a nice hotel gets overlooked because of things they cannot control. I travelled alone, arriving in the evening but had no trouble getting to the hotel or coming back to it at 10 pm after a day in the city centre using the metro. In short, extremely good value for money and a really good hotel which I hope to return to on my next Athens visit.
