About Activity
The guide meets the clients at the hotel and drives approximately 25–30 minutes to the High Dam, the largest man-made dam in the region. Visitors will spend about one hour exploring this impressive rock-filled structure, which controls the flow of the Nile and forms Lake Nasser, the world’s largest artificial reservoir. Completed in 1970 after ten years of construction, the dam stands as a major engineering achievement. The tour then continues with a short 10-minute drive to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the Northern Quarry. This massive monument still lies in place, abandoned after a crack appeared during its carving. Had it been completed, it would have been the largest obelisk ever erected. The site provides valuable insight into ancient stone-working techniques, with original tools still visible, and has recently been upgraded with visitor facilities. After the visit, guests return to the hotel. The entire excursion lasts approximately 3–4 hours.
