About Activity
The guide meets the clients at the hotel and drives approximately 25–30 minutes to the High Dam, a massive rock-filled structure that controls the flow of the Nile and creates Lake Nasser, the world’s largest artificial reservoir. Known locally as Sadd El-Aali, the dam was completed in 1970 after a decade of construction.
The tour continues with a short drive to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the Northern Quarry. This enormous monument still lies in place, abandoned after a crack appeared during its carving. Had it been completed, it would have been the largest obelisk ever erected. The site offers valuable insight into ancient stone-working techniques, with original tools still visible, and has recently been upgraded with visitor facilities.
Next, drive approximately 20–30 minutes to the marina area, where a motorboat ride of about 10–15 minutes takes you to Philae Island. Here, you will visit the Temple of Isis, which was carefully relocated about 500 meters from its original site due to rising Nile waters following the construction of the High Dam. Your guide will lead a walking tour of the temple complex, followed by free time to explore at your own pace.
Set on a picturesque island, the Temple of Isis is dedicated to the goddess Isis and is beautifully landscaped to reflect its original setting. Guests will spend approximately 1 to 1.5 hours at the temple before returning by motorboat to the bus and driving back to the hotel.
