Fly this morning from Aswan to Abu Simbel, a quick 45-minute flight each way. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and your local driver will transfer you to the awe-inspiring Great Temples of Ramses II and Nefertari. These temples, miraculously saved from inundation by UNESCO and the world community, are among the most magnificent monuments of ancient Egypt. Constructed during Ramses II's reign to commemorate his 30th anniversary, the larger temple is dedicated to Amun-Re and Re-Harakhty, while the smaller temple honors the goddess Hathor and Ramses II's wife, Nefertari. Spend a couple of hours exploring these remarkable sites with your guide before returning to Aswan on a short flight from Abu Simbel airport.
