This is day 7 of 8-day Egypt tour. This half day we went to visit Philae, Aswan with Ahmed Faheem. He is very informative and he knows to take care of our needs. He explained everything first, then gave us free time to do personal photos/videos. He answered all my history questions clearly.

Marcos did an excellent job on our tour to see the Isis temple, Philae, the temple of love. He shared much of its history & pointed out some of the symbology of the hieroglyphics. He also pointed out the vandalism over the years, some from the 1800s as well as the Christian markings. I especially loved that he offered us some free time at the end to ourselves too so we could walk around, take photos, or revisit areas of interest. He also went above & beyond taking us to a stone shop that we asked for on our way back to the hotel for a bit of shopping
Private 2 Hour Guided Tour to Philae Temple from Aswan: We took this tour and had a great time. Mary, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was great to have her explain the different meanings of the carvings. On our way back, Mary mentioned a free experience about the spice and perfume industry in the city. This ended up just being a perfume and spice store. The sales experience was very cool, but this was all just a sales pitch while the tour guide sat in their phone waiting for us to buy things. We ended up buying stuff, because we felt too guilty not to. Additionally, at the spice store the ladies packaging up the spices ended up giving us much more than we wanted. The price for these were by the pound. On the car ride back the tour guide got very pushy about leaving a review. She wanted a screen shot of it before we left the car, so we were not able to be 100% honest with our first review. Overall, we had a fun time, but, some of it got overshadowed with the unexpected added sales pitch.
Beautiful temple and a wonderful experience in Aswan. Arriving by boat makes the visit feel even more special, and the views from the water are stunning. Our guide Mary was amazing! Knowledgeable, kind, and great at explaining the history in a way that was easy to understand. Philae Temple is absolutely worth visiting.
Great guide, explained in good english with great detail and clearly, recommend with Samir Gaber. Nice temple to visit.
Not recommended, the tour never happened. I was told on the day of the tour by the tour advisor that due to unforeseen operation problems, the tour can't take place. No refund was also not provided
Connecting with Viator was useless when we needed to as our flight was late. Phoned a UK number, no human answered. Viator is useless. We should have been given guide's number immediately when we booked. Mary our guide was excellent but I will not use Viator again. Not there when they were needed.
We did this tour 14 March. It is well worth it and so good the Philae was saved. We were especially interested to see the 'Last Hieroglyph'. Our tour guide was excellent. All went well.
Philae temple was nice and has beautiful views surrounding the area. Ahmed our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the place.
Made reservation with the available date, time slot, pick up hotel provided by Viator website. But the guide/driver never showed up. Both the hotel front desk and I made several phone calls to the tour operator and got NO answer at all. It was terrible, hope Viator will issue a full refund for this.
We had a great time here during this trip. Heba was wonderful. We had a private motorboat which was nice as it was chaotic in that area. We had plenty of free time at the end to see the temple and get pictures. Also we got a lot of information from her about the temple. Would recommend.
The tour itself is fine, quick and in a beautiful temple. However, what is very upsetting is the fact that the guide was very pushy for a 5 star review, to the point that took my phone and wrote it down himself. This is really bad as I wanted to enjoy the scenery and take photos, not write down a comment half way of the tour. This overall ruined my experience
Guide was pleasant and informative. Once again (clearly this is how it works in Egypt) guide tried to push us to shop with his buddies for a commission. It gets old navigating that scam. He also used fake tickets dated Jan 2025 and pocketed the cash, then askedfor them back. It is what it is. We enjoyed the temple and his guidance despite it. If you understand the shopping commission scams, it helps move the experience along.
Mostafa is very knowledgable and I enjoyed my time at Philae temple - listening to his stories of the stories of isis and other gods.
We booked very last minute and was great communication- easy to find our tour guide. Heba - she communicated in good English and explained the temple well - I do recommend - also had the option to visit spice or perfumes if we wanted. We detoured by a local shop on the way home - so very helpful!
This was a great tour with a great guide, and honestly; really good value but the parent company (Nice tours) messed up a few things that should not happen for a reputable company. The time of our tour came, and we could not find the tour guide. We contacted the company (who had been in touch with us for days and confirmed the pickup time the night before) but when we tried to contact them at the time of the tour, they didn’t respond. Neither did we receive our driver or guide’s info (most companies will have the driver or guide contact you prior to pickup). We waited for 20 minutes outside (most tours pick you up at the front of your hotel and the guides usually don’t come in or don’t come at all and meet you at the site, as we had experienced in other tours). Finally, we went to our hotel concierge, and the guide who was standing in the very room we walked by to get to the front said he was from Nice tours. Once we got on the baat, the guide didn’t know that the booking included the boat ride and asked us for money. It’s a good thing I knew it was included, and reminded him. The company should have told him, he shouldn’t have to rely on my word as to what’s included or not. This can be detrimental for the traveler or company. It was unclear in the documentation sent as to whether the admission ticket to the temple was included, but we paid the guide for it anyway as I didn’t want him to pay out of pocket. Lastly, the water and snack advertised was not provided (not a big deal, but just another instance of the company promising something and not delivering or communicating to the guide and driver). The guide himself was fantastic, he was kind, intelligent and really knew his information. He uses a laser pointer to point to the hieroglyphics that really enhances his presentation and makes what he’s saying easier to follow. I really appreciated it. I also felt bad for him because he said he normally doesn’t do pickups and someone else was supposed to, and at the last minute he had to do it. The driver, while a great driver, was waiting at the wrong hotel so even after we met our guide, we had to wait another several minutes for the driver. Our tour as a result was delayed by 30 minutes and ended 30 minutes late. In the future I would recommend Nice tours - ideally be available at the time of booking but I make sure clients meet the providers (driver or guide) and if that’s not possible, at least give the driver or guide the contact info for the passenger or the passenger the information for the driver / guide so they can locate each other (most companies in egypt do this) - Communicate clearly with staff on inclusions and exclusions in the booking and make sure it aligns with what is provided
The tour guide Mohamed abdo is very nice and friendly. He walked us through the template with detailed introduction.
The tour operator was great and on my request delayed the tour by 1 hour as I got late to Aswan. They picked me up from the Hotel and transferred by car to Philae temple. Our tour guide Samy was very pleasant and gave us a detailed tour of the temple. He explained us the heliographic depictions of goddess Iris and Horus, the tale associated with the temple, rule by Greeks and romans and Nileometer. The travel to the temple in waterboat was also beautiful. Overall, a great experience.
Heba was our tour guide for Philae Temple and she was very kind to explain the details of the carvings on the walls of the temple and very well spoken English! We loved the tour with Heba
Mohammad Ando was a fantastic guide with a welcoming and friendly attitude. He took the time to explain the history behind the temple and also gave us plenty of free time to explore the temple. He was also helpful in helping us to organize the boat trip to another island .
Philae Temple is worth a visit but I would not recommend this tour. The tour does take you to the temple/island as described but the guide makes the experience feel extremely rushed such that you don’t enjoy your time there. They try to take you to the temple for only half an hour and then to a perfume factory afterwards. We had to push the guide for more time and he seemed extremely annoyed with us and kept threatening to leave. You need at least 1.5-2 hours at the temple to fully enjoy it and take pictures.
I booked the tour PHILAE TEMPLE with Nice Tours. The communication was really bad. I wrote from where I wanted to be picked up from, finally arrived after 40 minutes. Nice boat trip to the Temple. As soon as I arrived with my tour guide Walaa, as I was having not so good day with my joints, she was a bit impatient with me trying to hurry me a long. Didn't share hardly much knowledge with me. On the way back she was telling to tip the boat skipper and the car driver. Otherwise the actual trip to Philae Temple was 100% worthwhile.
Excellent and interesting tour, the guide was very knowledgeable about Art and History. A do not miss tour while you are in Aswan!
I feel like this tour could have been a great experience had we been given a different tour guide. The tour felt rushed and we felt like we couldn’t take pictures or walk around and enjoy the temple to its full potential. The tour guide continuously kept telling us that we had to tip. We understand that tipping is part of Egyptian culture but when you pay for a service and are having the tour guide telling you to tip it puts you in an uncomfortable spot. When the tour was over we gave her a tip as well as the driver but I guess we didn’t give the driver enough and she told us to give him more. She also kept mentioning that she payed for the boat ride to the temple and that’s why we had to tip, when in reality our booking payed for the boat. We dont mind tipping at all but we booked this tour to comfortably enjoy an Aswan monument without having the constant bugging of buying something and this just wasn’t it.
The experience was special. We went with Nice Tours. We were picked up from the hotel then to a pier from where we took a boat to Philae temple. There the guide explained a bit about the history of this temple and then we were left alone for 40 minutes. The time spent alone was a bit short considering how big the temple is and how much there is to see. If you go alone and are passionate about Ancient Egypt like us, I recommend staying at least 2 hours. On the way back we went through 2 shops, one for spices and one for clothing, I didn't want to go to the third one. I think tourists should be asked beforehand and one shop would be enough.
Everything was great on our tour to Philae island. Mary was a great guide, told us many interesting facts and stories about Philae island. Highly recomend this quick tour.
Ahmed was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to. It was easy to engage with him on not just the temple related topics but also culture and geopolitics. He was very kind and thoughtful and the tour was so worth our time.
It was a wonderful experience, my tour guide was very kind and had a very good level of English so everything was being explained clearly.
Good experience, amazing guide! Very nice day with egyptologist mahmoud he Very knowledge and helpful We highly recommend him
The experience was great as a solo traveler and the guide was amazing with great explanation and very recommended and enjoy
Heba did a great tour. She was very experienced in the explanations and provided enough time to see the temple and other local shops
Had Mido as a guide. He was very knowledgeable about the temples and the history of the region. Would recommend.
We enjoyed the temple very much, and our Guide Mary was very nice, articulate and shared interesting details.
Hotel pick up and boat ticket process was very smooth. Emad Aiad was a very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide
While the Guide was quite good, the tour company in Egypt, Nice Tours, was terrible at communicating with me. They did not respond to messages or answer their phone. Vert frustrating trying to coordinate and confirm a meet-up location. The guide, was a subcontractors to Nice Tours, and she was very good.
Visit to the temple is fine. However, we feel like a little bit rushed. We wanted to buy souvenir but we were told to shop for souvenirs at government shop which is the perfume shop and spice shop which is not in the itinerary. We spent more time at the shop listening to the sellers more than the visit to the temple itself.
5/5 guide is knowledgeable, driver alright 3/5 connecting boat included but can be better if can stay longer for the temple. Barely longer than 1 hour for such big temple isn't quite enough. Otherwise all ok. Should have joined the longer tour with aswan dam and unfinished obelisk but skip these two to get longer time in the temple
A well organized tour with a super professional guide.I reccomend this tour to whom have a short time schedule.
Friendly and knowledgeable guide. However, I find the price quite high considering that entrance tickets are not included and the guide’s English level was somewhat limited.
We had a wonderful visit to the Philae Temple today with our guide, Mr Mido. He was patient and knowledgeable, explaining both the overall structure and the intricate details of the temple. His storytelling beautifully connected Egyptian history with mythology, which made the experience both educational and enjoyable. We learned a lot and truly appreciated his guidance. Highly recommended!
Mustahfa is the best guide in egypt. We spend a very beautiful day turn to assuan e the philae temple. We highly raccomend.
Great expérience with Moustapha today. Really beautiful day and nice explication. We loved this Time with the temple on the Nile river
We did the tour with Ahmed sony, very kind and funny, also like to share his knowledge of Egypt history ! Is you go this area i definitly recommend visiting with him !
Was picked up by guide, arrived at Philae very little information given about the Temples.. After we went to Essence and spices shop. We spent more time at the shops than we did at Philae Temple itself.
A great tour! Mary was very interesting and knowledgeable. She talked us through everything at Philae island and gave us plenty of time to explore ourselves too. Highly recommended.
Marcos was my tour guide and he was great. He was really informative and shared a lot of knowledge on the history of Aswan and the Philae Temple and explained the meanings behind the carvings and inscriptions which was super interesting to learn. He was also extremely friendly and didn’t rush the experience. Beautiful place to visit!!
Such a great introduction to Aswan and Egypt with Eman Bahgat. Eman was the perfect tour guide and welcomed us beautifully to Egypt. During our drive to the Philae boat dock Eman gave us an introduction to Aswan sharing with us the cultural history of the city. Philae was breathtaking - what a great temple to start off our history of Egypt 🇪🇬. Eman was both the perfect historian and storyteller- bringing to life the story of Orisis, Iris and Horace in an informative but very fun way. Thank you Eman for a fab tour. I only wish that we were staying longer in Aswan to explore more.
We had a great tour with Moo! He had a lot of stories about the temple and made the experience really enjoyable. We also got free time to take our own photos which was great!
She s kind and explain history about the temple. That Is a good tour and very convenience from hotel direct to the temple avoid dealing with outside nonsense people.
I had Mary as a guide. She and the driver showed up early to my hotel to pick me up. Smooth drive to the boat dock and then to the island. I had enough time to get good stories from Mary on the background of the temple and take pictures.
