Aswan: Guided Tour To High Dam, The Obelisk & Philae Temple By Motorboat

We had an exceptional experience visiting all three locations. Our tour guide (Aida) was really great and very helpful. She is very knowledgeable of the history of each location and also shared some really important tips for our travel from Aswan to Luxor after the tour was finished. I highly recommend this tour if you are interested in several of the highlights while visiting Aswan.

We were disappointed by the tour guide's, Ida, lack of guiding. For starters, she requested a later start than scheduled that caused us to miss one of the sights. At Philae Temple, she spent some time explaining what we were seeing and then spent the rest of the time on a bench on her phone. At the Unfinished Obelisk, unlike the other tour guides who accompanied their guests, she, again, sat in the shade and on her phone. We missed the dam completely as we ran out of time due to the late start. I recommend visiting Philae Temple, but unable to provide feedback on the dam. The obelisk may have had more significance had Ida done her job and explained everything we saw.

Tour guide Elia is a very friendly and good guide. We enjoyed our time. He did not pressure us to give tips unlike other guides.

Aida George was my tour guide for this tour. She was very knowledgeable and well versed. I had a wonderful time! Thank you for making my trip to Egypt very very memorable! So worth it!

Three very different parts to the tour. Temple of Philae is magnificent, the unfinished obelisk was really interesting and the dam and the impact on the local community was fascinating. Michael was a great host -knowledgeable, articulate and he took a lot of stress out of the ticket purchases and boat hire. Would highly recommend

We had a great time exploring Philae temple and seeing the Aswan dam. The temple is gorgeous! Michael was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect English. He also helped us make other arrangements for the next part of our trip which was very appreciated. I would highly recommend using this tour instead of trying to navigate it solo if you're not familiar with the area.

We had an amazing tour with Aida. She was so knowledgeable , personable , accommodating to all our needs , she also helped arrange transportation for the other days of our trip that she wasn’t with us thanks to her boss Michael. Philae temple was amazing after a fun boat ride , the dam super cool and even did a trip to the Nubian village with her the next day ! Don’t hesitate to book with them ! They were amazing !!

Based on other tours this one was just okay. Always great to have an educated guide so you know where you’re going and what you’re looking at. We had Mack or “Big Mac.” Knowledgeable but a little too touchy and my friend & I didn’t appreciate the pet names like Princess. He also didn’t want us taking pictures while he was talking. We did get time to take pictures after we were free to roam on our own. I understand wanting to keep us engaged, but constantly boasting if things are “clear?!” and telling us to not take pictures was annoying. Philae Temple was worth a guide but you can visit the Obelisk on your own & be fine. Once there they took us into a room and had us watch the History channel’s excerpt about how it was created & discovered anyways. Didn’t need a guide for that. One of my friends wasn’t feel and skipped out on this tour to rest. Of all the tours we did, this was a good one for her to miss.

Our guide Noel was extremally knowledgeable in regards with history of ancient Egypt and all we had to visit for the day, we really enjoy everything for the duration of the day. Many thanks to our driver who took us everywhere, wait for us and keep us safe. We highly recommend this tour to have a overview of Aswan, ancient and modern.

Kerylos was our guide for my husband and I and he was fantastic! Cannot recommend him enough, very thorough, detailed, and an expert in his field. We asked him probably too many questions but he always had an answer and was happy to keep telling us about the history of Aswan and Egyptian culture, even giving us food recommendations! Highly recommend him to anyone visiting Aswan.

Absolutely excellent! 5 star service. Superb experience. Relaxed, no stress. Good explanations in clear English. 'Big Mac' is friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, even took us around the local market and helped us get a good price for our gifts home. Would definitely recommend!

Overall we had very good experience. Guide kept us engaged and was knowledgeable. We didn't like direct requests for extra tips for a car driver and motorboat driver since it was all supposed to be included in price and we have paid in advance to avoid all that stuff.

Great tour of Aswan. Big Mac was wonderful, quick and knowledgeable. The high Dam and obelisk are quick but interesting stops and Philae temple is magnificent and fun to explore! We also stopped at a spice store and essence place which were both great but he asked us beforehand which was nice. Overall great experience!

This was a beautiful experience of Aswan. It's people, heritage and History from Magdy (Big Mac). Tour guide Magdy was a wealth of information and ensured we had a continuity in historical knowledge throughout the ages. He was funny, jovial, entertaining. Caring and attentive to our needs and questions. Very grateful to be paired with Magdy Refaat for this trip with a very able and courteous driver in a super comfortable limousine. Magdy was a wonderful company for the family during the day and gave us a wealth of information which made this trip to Aswan very worthwhile. Wonderful!! Aida was super helpful and kind in explaining everything in Aswan's tour. the Obelisk ties very well with Luxor's history as well so it's a nice connection, if you're a history nerd/buff/geek.

This tour was amazing. Michael is literally the best guide I've met so far in Egypt. He's knowledgeable, his English is perfect and his whole attitude makes you feel wonderful! Places we've covered were beautiful and interesting, and Michael did not hesitate to go the extra mile to make it possible for me to go up the Soviet-Egyptian monument for some truly superb views. I strongly recommend this tour when you're in Aswan, it was great!

My husband and I came to Egypt for a belated honeymoon, and by far this has been our favorite experience in Egypt! Michael our tour guide was superb - he was so knowledgeable, personable, spoke excellent English, and made some wonderful add-on recommendations throughout our tour that we were able to stop by, in addition to the High Dam, The Obelisk & Philae Temple by boat. Of the sites Philae was our favorite and stunning to see. Michael gave us a great history lesson on Aswan, as well as the Nubian culture, including their aromatherapy & essence, which lead us to a stop at Cleopatra Perfume Palace. It is family-owned, off the main path shop that specializes in essential oils & essence blends, all natural and organic. A must-see for sure, very hospitable and we walked out with a so many oils that we can't wait to take back home with us. We did a full day guided tour to Aswan with Khaled Elsaady and had a great time. We started with Abu Simbel which was amazing and then continued to the high dam, the Philae Temple, and finished with a nile cruise to Nubian village. Khaled is so knowledgeable about Egyptian history and we were lucky to have him! Thank you, Khaled!

I was traveling solo to Egypt and happened up on this tour led by Bishoy. He was very knowledgeable and was able to provide great insight into all of the sites. I would definitely be looking to him again if (when) I visit again.

Mike speaks great English. I loved the fact that he asked me about what level of involvement I expected from him in the tour and didn’t try to push to stop in the oils factory. Very respectful!!!

Very well organized. Karim was super friendly and knowledgeable with very good German. He managed to bring history to life, especially in Philae Temple. One of the best guides we had in Egypt. Would absolutely do a tour with him again. We asked to be dropped off at the bazaar at the end instead of the hotel (which was much further) but this was no problem at all.

Where to begin... Aida is by far one of the most kind, sweet and genuine tour guides/ new friend I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with while on vacation. She was very informative about each location we visited and Took the time to answer each and every questioned we had and went above and beyond for our group. She made sure we received great deals while shopping. She made us laugh and truly feel at home. I would recommend this tour to everyone. Aida was knowledgeable at each location and made sure we were safe. She stopped to get us water before arriving at the Philae temple. She also arranged for us to have a boat ride to visit the Nubian Village ( my favorite) I would definitely recommend this tour to friends.

My first time in Egypt was the most amazing time. It is hugely due to the tour we took with Aida. She is the best tour guide I have had to date and I have been on a lot it tours. She was knowledgeable as she gave us information at each stop. She took us to Nubia, the high dam, and Philae temple. I felt very safe with her and well informed. I would recommend her and the tour company to all my friends and family.

Really had a great time on this tour, felt like we’re part of the family from the start. Our guide, Aida told us all about the history of beautiful Aswan, answered our questions and had us laughing throughout our day. Even though we were tired from a long day of traveling, she perked us right up and showed us the important sites. I think my favorite part was the boat ride to the Philae and actually viewing the Philae. I’d definitely come again.

The trip to the dam and Philae Temple in Aswan with our guide Magdy Big Mack was my favorite tour guide of my trip to Egypt! He was funny, knowledgeable, and friendly. A+++ experience! Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I arrived in Aswan on Christmas Day. After gathering our luggage we headed out of the airport and found Magdy “Big Mac” waiting for us. He was so friendly right from the start. We received a warm welcome and set off to see Philae temple. Big Mac let us know exactly what we were going to do and what we’d see. When we arrived, he walked through the temple with us, explaining what the meanings of the temple and some of the carvings were. He is very knowledgeable about anything Egyptian. We learned what the temple was used for, what it symbolized and how we came to have that knowledge. Big Mac gave us plenty of free time to walk around and take photos and then we had some coffee before leaving for the High Dam. We learned about the dam, how and when it was constructed, and why it was necessary. He explained how it worked too. We then took a nice scenic drive to our cruise boat. We loved our tour of Aswan and had so much fun with Big Mac. I’d recommend him to anyone visiting Aswan. He knows his Egyptology and he is very friendly and kind.

The guide was knowlegdeable of the history. He wanted us to listen carefully of whatever he was explaining and then will give a moment to take pictures.

Non satisfait. Notre guide une femme ne voulait pas monter avec nous pour l obélisque sous pretexte qu'elle avait mal aux jambes ? Bizarre pour un guide ? Du jamais vu. On est alors monté seuls moi et ma fille. Elle est restée dans l'ombre. Dommage on est reparti déçu sans réponse sur plusieurs détails en rapport avec l histoire de l obélisque non achevé et surtout qu on est venu de l autre bout du monde le canada. Déception totale. je ne recommande pas cette agence.

Very good tour. Tourführer spoke perfect German as he had lived in Berlin for several years. He and the driver arrived at the hotel on time. All places were visited extensively and tour guide explained many backgrounds. We particularly liked the temple tour, where he told us many details about Egyptian history for a long time. Transport by car and water was only rented for us and we never had to wait. Absolutely recommendable - thank you

Guida molto preparata e esperienza bellissima. Solo un problema, pur avendo prenotato per le 12 volevamo venirci a prendere alle 11 e quando gli abbiamo detto che non potevamo ci hanno fatto sentire come se fossimo noi in ritardo. Abbiamo dovuto fare tutto di fretta e per questo motivo ai controlli ci è pure caduta la macchina fotografica. Magari scrivete che non si può prenotare dopo le 11.

Bonne visite, dommage qu'on nous incite un peu trop à acheter. Très bonnes explications et plutôt bonne ambiance.
