Hotel Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan

A big thank you to Kermina for taking the time to show us around the hotel. We really enjoyed the room tour, especially seeing the rooms where Agatha Christie and Winston Churchill once stayed. It was such an interesting part of the hotel’s history and something we probably wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Kermina was friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the hotel, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Thanks again for making our stay a little more memorable.

Spent an evening at the promenade at Old Cataract Hotel. View and ambiance was excellent. Would like to highlight the exceptional service I received from Asran and the rest of the staff at the promenade restaurant. Also had the pleasure of dining at the 1902 restaurant. This is one of the most gorgeous hotels we’ve ever stayed. If you are looking for a grand historic hotel in Aswan, this is it. I am writing this now in my beautiful and most comfortable room in the palace wing. We love the outstanding service, beautiful ambiance and old-world architecture, and breathtaking river view. I also recommend the complementary tour to the Agatha Christie suite. It’s a special little touch they offer, and I’m so glad to see the huge suite!

Deciding to stop by for lunch at the Sofite Old Cataract on a spontaneous whim turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip to Aswan. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the signature scent immediately set the tone. The atmosphere is a refined blend of heritage and elegance, where every detail feels intentional. As someone who appreciates well-curated spaces, I couldn’t help but notice how seamlessly everything comes together to create such a memorable experience. The views are, of course, absolutely stunning. I ordered the smoked salmon sandwich along with hibiscus, and both were excellent. The freshness, the texture of the bread, and the overall quality were all spot on. I later on had iced tea which was absolutely refreshing. I also appreciated the subtle sustainability touches, such as the use of eco-friendly straws. A special mention to Mr. Osama, Mohra, and Nour, who were all incredibly welcoming and attentive. I especially appreciated Mohra’s recommendations; she was knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely helpful, creating a welcoming experience even as a non-resident guest. I’m very glad I decided to stop by, and I’ll definitely be planning a stay here in the future.
