This is an excellent wine tasting experience. We enjoyed tasting all 5 wines and then walking through the vineyard to where we got to have a bottle of our choice and a tasty lunch. A great view of Assisi

It was a wonderful experience tasting delicious wine, strolling through beautiful vineyards, and enjoying a picnic lunch under the oak trees, vineyards, and olive trees. A very special afternoon celebrating 33 years of marriage. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a peaceful afternoon in a beautiful place.

We went for the lunch and wine tasting as a splurge after 5 days of hiking in Umbria. It did not disappoint. The 2 whites and 3 reds wines were paired well with the food. The food was all local food from Umbria. I’m not sure if they serve the same food at every tasting, but the porchetta was to die for. We truly appreciated the host, who was a family member of the vineyard, as she seamlessly flowed from English to Italian explaining the wines the history of the vineyard and answering our questions. She accommodated one of our guest with an unexpected allergy with ease. If the weather is good, don’t miss the self guided tour of the vineyard!

Tastings and snacks were excellent. Tasting talk was very clear, informative and friendly. Daughter of the owner gave the talk/tasting and juggled Italian and English with ease. The walk around the vineyard after the tasting was interesting.

The wine tasting and picnic on Agnese's family vineyard, right below Assisi, were a memorable experience. I visited SAIO with my wife, where we got the chance to taste five different wines produced by SAIO, each well-explained by Agnese. After the tasting, we chose our favourite bottle, and walked through the vineyard to a picnic area where we met Agnese who provided the bottle of wine, a selection of fresh Umbrian nibbles, and everything else we needed, for the picnic. During the walk leading to the epicnic area, and the picnic itself, we could enjoy views of the Santa Maria degli Angeli Basilica, and of Assisi. Their service, place, and products were excellent. The picnic was so relaxing. I truly recommend others to visit SAIO, especially since they are located quite close to the town.

We will start with how easy it was for us to find. Our hostess was incredibly friendly. She was kind with my attempts speaking Italian. The wine is incredibly delicious. The lunch, as you may imagine, was also incredibly delicious. We were able to spend hours relaxing, enjoying wine and local meats and cheeses, and learning about wine. We traveled off season, so we were not rushed or packed in as I suspect it would be in summer months. Just a fantastic experience all the way around. 5 ❤️!

It was a great experience. We first tasted five wines and then had our picnic with our favorite bottle of wine. A very romantic picnic among the vineyards with a view of Assisi. We received more than we expected, and the host was excellent. Highly recommended.

Wow! What an absolutely incredible winery visit! The Saio Winery Picnic & Tasting is an exceptional tour. Agnese presented a top notch tasting experience in English & Italian! The wines were delicious and we shipped a few cases of wine & olive oil back to the States. To top off the tasting we toured the vineyards and ended at one of the most beautiful picnic spaces with an incredible view of Assisi! The picnic food was a delight and very filling along with a bottle of our favorite from the tasting. We hope to come back and visit again, but we will definitely be buying more Saio Vino!

This was our second Saio tasting-lunch. We love the hosts and one of the Saio reds is an all-time favorite. I will say that we did not love sharing this year's experience with a very loud group of 23 people who talked over the English version of the wine descriptions after enjoying their native Italian version. We paid close to $100 for the tasting and lunch through Viator, which had been described as including a bottle of our favorite wine to have with a picnic that followed a tasting. Instead, to accommodate the large group, we had the tasting with lunch and did not receive the included bottle of our favorite. I would not have paid the premium through Viator had I known it would be changed in this way or that it would include that many additional people. The same experience can be purchased through the Saio website for less than half the price. We did that last year and got a better experience and a lot more value for the cost.

We combined a wine tasting with a picnic at Saio vineyards. It is outside the main walls of Assisi, but you can drive, walk, or bike there. We walked from our hotel in Assisi. Our hostess was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The wines were excellent, and there was only one other couple there for a tasting. Following the tasting, we received a map of the vineyards showing where each variety of grape was grown. We were able to walk through the vineyards up to a veranda overlooking Assisi. Our hostess brought us a delightful lunch with an extensive charcuterie board, bruschetta with olive oil, and the wine of our choice. It was a delightful experience. We were never rushed for time and were able to enjoy the vineyard. This is a side trip I would definitely recommend. It was a very good value and one of our best memories of our trip to Italy.

We enjoyed learning about the winery and thought our host was very friendly and informative. We liked the SAIO wine and bought a case to send home. They took care of everything. The best part was walking through the gorgeous vineyard and then our yummy picnic in the most beautiful setting.

Absolutely amazing time!! We tasted all the wines with food served with each wine!! The wine and food was amazing! We ordered a case and half to ship home and received it in a timely manner! Also got olive oil and jam that they make! Highly recommend!

This wine tour was amazing. We walked the vineyards on our own. Very picturesque. Once back at the tour site we enjoyed 5 excellent wines complimented with delicious breads, cheeses, meats and dessert. Highly recommend this wine tour.

We were in Arezzo for my friends birthday and decided to book the wine tasting and picnic as a birthday treat. It was lovely. As the only English speakers in the group our host was very attentive and spoke perfect English. Wine and picnic was simple and yummy. Definitely recommended

A remarkable tour. SAIO winery is a wonderful operation - Francesca is a super hostess who warmly welcomed us and tantalized us at the tasting with delicious wines along with thorough and interesting facts about each we tasted. We very much enjoyed the walk through the vineyard on our way to their veranda for our tasty and plentiful picnic lunch.

A thoroughly pleasant experience. We were met by Francesca, who was very welcoming and knowledgeable. All of the wines were delicious. The food in the picnic was local, fresh and tasty. This is also very good value for money.

The setting is spectacular, the tasting room is lovely and intimate, the tasting was managed pleasantly and relationally, and the wines are great - plus slightly different from others in the area. The picnic involved a pleasant walk through the vineyard and to an open air pavilion, where the abundant spread along with our selected bottle of wine was subsequently delivered. We were encouraged to stay as long as we wished, along with instructions for leaving the picnic supplies safely behind. It was a treat that we would recommend.

Lovely experience for my son and I. Wine is very tasty. Agnese was a great host and was very informative. It was a beautiful day and although March was probably not the best time to see a vineyard, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience walking through the beautiful vineyard in this stunning and peaceful location. Our lunch was brought to us under the canopy at the top of the hill. Lunch was lovely and the views of Assisi were outstanding. Enjoyed the walk back into Assisi in the lovely sunshine. We had an excellent wine tasting event in Assisi. The place was easy to find, the 5 wines that we tasted were all delicious and the event was very informative, relaxed and informal. After the tasting session, we had a very interesting and short walk through the vineyard to a veranda where we had a delicious & very filling picnic (with a bottle of wine for the 2 us !) with fabulous views of Assisi.

Excellent! We arrived for our picnic and wine tasting. There was some confusion in booking details. However, they were most gracious and opened the wine shop, allowed tasting and then provided us with a picnic in the vineyard. We went at 5 pm and the view of Assisi and sunset was outstanding! Very good wines too!

We had a very unique experience with our picnic in the vineyards. Agnese was a great host and took care of both the food and wines for us to enjoy the tranquility of being on their property and having a great view of Assisi! Food was very tasty with a good variety of meats, cheeses, and breads. Their wines were very enjoyable and matched well with our meal. Highly recommend booking this activity with Saio of Assisi!!

A lovely afternoon spent at the foothills of Assisi. This is a small family owned business. Agnese was lovely as was the choice of food and wine. Our six year old was welcomed with open arms. The walk to and from the veranda is about 15 minutes each way.

Such a lovely winery! Agnese was so knowledgeable about her family's winery and the tour they have planned out gives you the freedom to explore the vineyards at your leisure. Our picnic lunch was delicious with a view overlooking Assisi. We couldn't have asked for more out of the experience. Only tip (which is not their fault) is that google maps initially took us to a random person's house - make sure you follow their instructions on how to get there.

This was certainly the high point of our 5 week trip to Rome, Umbria, and Abruzzo. After staying at a delightful B and B about one kilometer from the vinyard, we visited the tasting room and were introduced to the wines by our darling hostess Agnessa. We sampled a few luscious whites and some robust reds and then we took a beautiful stroll into the vinyard. There were olive groves on our right hand side and the vinyards to the left and above us the panaromic view of Assissi and the cathedral. It might have been the closest to heaven we will ever get on this side of the astral plane. We saw goats and chickens peacefully gazing in the farm that adjoins the vinyard. Then pretty much after we met ourselves confortable in the quaint gazebo, Agnessa drove up with our lunch and the wines we selected to accompnay it. It was sumptuous. The home made bread was an added treat and the selection of local cheeses and meats were outstanding. We will cherish our time there in the vinyard. Thank you, Agnessa

The absolute best experience of a wonderful Italian vacation. Though I've been to Italy many times, this was my first time to Umbria. I was traveling with my husband and 7month old. We were looking for a family-friendly, low key way to experience the best that Umbria has to offer. This was it. We had a private picnic in a breathtakingly beautiful setting (really, the view they provide is unparalleled). The wine was excellent, the olive oil was excellent, and the grape jam...my favorite part! A great surprise! All of the food was delicious and was enhanced by such a magical setting. Just really appreciated all that they did to provide such a wonderful afternoon for my family.

The fact that they were open just for me is over the top!! Ms. Agnese and Ms. Chiara are the sweetest. They explained to me thoroughly the difference of wines, and it is so much fun. Thank you so so much for this wonderful experience.

This was probably the highlight of our trip through Umbria. The wines were fantastico and our hostess, Agnessia could not have been more delightful and accommadating. Eating lunch in the vinyard with the town of Assisi overlooking us was spectacular.

We had a lovely time here. We booked the deluxe picnic. The visit started with a 15 minute brief about the winery and how the picnic works. With the deluxe package you choose your picnic bottle (based on the description of all wines). Then you cross the road to stroll the vineyards. You are on your own and you just walk the path following the printed map, tasting grapes and reading the basic informations about the grapes and descriptions about every kind grown there. At some point you can see some goats if you wish. They were cute. Everything took 45 minutes for us. When you reach the veranda, you are immediately stunned by the view of Assisi. It’s always gorgeous from any point of view, but there, above the vineyards, it’s especially beautiful. Our host arrived in the car at the agreed time and brought us and one other couple our picnic baskets. The food was really delicious and fresh. Excellent porchetta and everything else. We really liked the grape jam which we purchased after along with another bottle of wine (a different kind to try at home). Prices are very reasonable. I always prefer a family run business because they make it more personal and welcoming for you and the food is always superb to accompany your wine. SAIO is a good example of that. We enjoyed our picnic very much and I recommend this experience for couples and friends.

What a fantastic experience! The wine tasting was perfectly organized from start to finish. We had the opportunity to taste various delicious wines, telling with great passion and knowledge about the winemaking process and the history of the domain. By the passionate daughter of the winegrower, with decades of experience! After the tasting we took a beautiful walk through the vineyard. The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and exude tranquility. Along the way we enjoyed the beautiful nature and the impressive views. Finally, we were allowed to enjoy a delicious picnic full of local delicacies. The absolute highlight was the idyllic location, with spectacular views of Assisi. The combination of fine wines, hospitality, beautiful surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere made this day unforgettable. An absolute must for anyone who loves wine, nature and the authentic Italian atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

We spent a wonderful day enjoying good wine and nature. We were accompanied with great professionalism and passion in tasting their wines, from whites to reds, discovering the characteristics and peculiarities of each label. The hospitality was excellent, the location immersed in a wonderful context, and the view of Assisi is simply spectacular. An authentic and relaxing experience that I highly recommend to all wine lovers and those who appreciate beautiful atmospheres.

Excellent really all the products provided and the wine produced by the farm. The view of Assisi and Santa Maria degli Angeli really impressive and the owner really friendly and helpful. I hardly write reviews but this experience really deserves! We will definitely return

Beautiful picnic at sunset. It 'an experience that I will certainly repeat for professionalism and proposal. One piece of advice I can give to the Saio team, would be to create an illuminated route to exit the vineyard area at the end of the experience. In fact, not only we, but also the other guests, had difficulty walking through the vineyards in the dark and reaching the exit.
