My wife and I were the only people in Elenora’s class that day, and we initially thought we’d gotten lucky with what would essentially be a private lesson. Instead, it turned out to be an extremely **uncomfortable** experience and the worst part of our trip. Elenora was rude to my wife and repeatedly made fun of her for not cooking very often. Rather than recognizing that her comments weren’t landing and changing her approach, she doubled down. It got to the point where I had to intervene to take the attention off my wife. We also only made two kinds of pasta, despite the class being advertised as including three. Afterward, Elenora repeatedly pressured us to take the extra pasta home, even though we explained that we didn’t have room in our bags. She kept saying things like, “You can take it home and make room,” “I can’t keep it—you have to take it or it’s wasteful,” and “All my students take the pasta.” We had to explain over and over that we would not be taking it. When we suggested cooking some of the extra pasta and eating what we could there, she gave us a hard time about that, too. Finally, she told us we would receive the recipe so we could recreate the pasta at home. What we received was an email with a list of ingredients—no instructions or explanation. For the price, this experience was incredibly disappointing. This was the activity my wife had looked forward to most on our trip, and instead she spent the evening being made to feel uncomfortable and belittled.

Elanora was very detailed and kept it fun and light hearted. we made two different types of pasta : ravioli and fettuccini and it was very fun learning how to make authentic pasta in Assisi. However, after making the fettuccini, we were told we could keep it out and then put it in the fridge. We couldn’t do that because we were traveling. We asked her to make it when she made the ravioli and she said it was going to be too much food. By the time we sat down to eat, we had 5 raviolis and one fettuccini and we were starving. Also, because we didn’t make everything until 9:00 p.m. we weren’t able to make the tiramisu. Very disappointing. We left feeling very hungry and very unsatisfied but we had fun.
Outstanding. The chef was an excellent teacher. We learned a lot and the experience was unforgettable.
Super warm reception, good explanation of and fun experience.
This experience is not as advertised. We arrived on time to the location provided on the ticket and in Viator and was sent a message that the location was different. The ticket is different to the experience advertised, on Viator and different to the photos that are advertised. The ticket says spend a day on a local farm, exploring olive groves, meeting aninmals and tasting organics products. Nothing on the ticket says cooking pasta and would not have booked if it was going to be on a farm with animals. Either the company or Viator needs to correct advertised experience.
We had a great time with Eleanor, the chef/teacher. She showed us how to make three different types of pasta and a quick delicious sauce. We ate it with a glass of wine and a cheese platter from the shop over the road - also friendly and no hard sell, just enjoy our produce and buy some if you want. Just be careful to leave enough time for parking if you are driving. We found a park outside the old city and then walked for around 15 minutes - easy if you know! So glad we signed up for this - and then wandered around Assisi and saw the amazing basilica. Well worth it. Enjoy!!!
We started the experience with a tasing of the local wine, olive oil, and cheese which was a nice added bonus. It was an amazing experience hands on experience making pasta. There was only 2 of us to make it personally rewarding.
My wife and I had an excellent time learning how to make authentic pasta and tiramisu with Eleanora in Assisi! Despite a bit of a language barrier, she was a thorough and patient teacher, and we had a lot of fun with her. It ended up just being the two of us who signed up, so it was a very intimate experience. A word of caution, however - just make sure you check in with your host about expectations and dietary preferences before you arrive. We interpreted "food allergies" too strictly and did not write that my wife is a vegetarian, and so she was unable to eat the pre-prepared ravioli stuffing. Eleanora told us that if she had known, she would have just made a cheese filling instead of meat. That was totally on us. The other mix-up was that there seemed to be a miscommunication between Viator and whatever system Eleanora was using. The description for the class I signed up for explicitly said "pasta AND tiramisu" class, but Eleanora's description only said pasta. She was confused, but she wanted us to be happy, so she scrambled and was able to cobble together a delicious tiramisu for us to take back to our hotel for later. We even got to taken some of our pasta home with us!
If you really want to learn how to make pasta, Eleanora is the teacher for you! She demonstrates, then helps each student with their technique. Very informative and fun to learn a new skill. She cooks some of what you made, then you take some “home” to cook later. This is not a full meal, but at the end of class it is very satisfying to taste what you made, while enjoying a glass of wine!
Eleanora was wonderful.. Class was so much fun and informative.. A must do! this was a great experience for our family. Great bonding experience. Paula Winter Bel Air, Md
We paid a substantial amount—$1,127.42 CAD—for five family members to attend this pasta-making class. I understand that booking through Tripadvisor increased the cost compared to booking directly, but even so, the value simply wasn’t there. The Cesarine was noticeably unfriendly throughout most of the class, which made the experience uncomfortable and far from what we had hoped for. There was no opportunity to take notes during the session, and despite reaching out to the chef on three separate occasions afterward, she refused to share the basic recipe we used. We went home—after spending all that money—and still don’t even know how to make the pasta we were taught. Her responses were dismissive and rude, and I have copies of the messages to support that. For the price we paid and the lack of hospitality both during and after the class, I would not recommend this experience.
Booked through Trip Advisor. We are Canadian and not one to complain but this class was not as it was advertised. First, the class had already started at 5pm when several emails received from Trip Advisor stated 6pm start. There were no appetizers, no prosecco, no three pasta lessons, only one. We ate a very small portion of what we made with jarred sauce and off of plastic plates and forks. For 400 euro for three of us this was extremely disappointing. Feedback was provided to Trip Advisor about the very poor experience and they offered only $60 as a refund. Apparently Elenora indicated that a ravioli was also made and other appettivos were provided. This was simply not true. I will never book with TripAdvisor for anything again based on this experience.
We had a great time learning to make pasta the right way! We had all made pasta before, but we all learned useful tips about how to roll and cut the dough. Eleonora was very encouraging but not afraid to correct us when we weren’t using proper technique. We even made a new friend who had taken a sauce making class in the morning. We all ate her yummy sauce on our freshly made noodles. And before we started the nice man from across the street took us into his shop to taste wine and area delicacies. A perfect adventure.
Fantastic experience! Elenora was a tremendous teacher. Knowledgeable, patient and made for a A+ class! Clean, easy to book and FUN!
The teacher, Eleanor, was extremely kind and invested into the teaching. She was very patient and knew what mistakes people would make and easily corrected them. She was also very supportive and talkative.
My daughter & I had such a good time! Ms.Eleonora was a wonderful teacher & so patient! We started with a wine & cheese tasting across the street & the samples were amazing (all from local artisans & I shipped some home). She taught us to make three different kinds of pasta which was more than the two of us could eat but not from lack of encouragement to mangia mangia! Ms Eleonora graciously offered to wrap it up for us to take but sadly, we were leaving the next day. This class became one of our favorite experiences from our entire trip to Italy! If you have a couple of hours to spend while in Assisi, I’d highly recommend it. I can’t wait to make this pasta now that we’re home & show nonna our work! She also offers an online cooking class in the winter which I will absolutely join. Grazie mille ci siamo divertiti! Piacere
Eleanora was a wonderful instructor, she taught us many pasta making techniques and also entertained us with her wealth of knowledge of Italy, Italian food and culture! I highly recommend this class if you are in Assisi!
My spouse and I attend this cooking class. Learned a lot. Made several different types of pasta. Great experience. Highly recommended!
Eleanor’s was fantastic and so attentive. You could tell she was compassionate about pasta making! She was patient and very informative. The pasta we made together was delicious! I would strongly recommend this class against the back drop of Assisi!
So glad we booked this pasta making class. We had an excellent teacher and made linguine, ravioli and tortellini. Delicious! And the big surprise was when we were greeted with a wine, cheese and charcuterie tasting from organic producers across the street. I couldn’t recommend this experience more highly.
Beware - they booked us 11 KM away when they had the exact class (through Cistine, the same partner) 5 min walk from our hotel. We found it by accident. When you have a class where alcohol (wine) is provided, you should be sensitive to location. My booking specifically asked for someone close to our hotel.
Cesarina Eleonora was fabulous. She is so skilled in making pasta. I’m really glad I took the class. She was so patience and she was hands on, showing me how to do a step correct. There was only 2 participants in the session that I took so it was almost like a private class. After taking the class, I have the confidence to try making pasta at home. You won’t regret taking this class.
After all the shopping and views in Assisi, this was an authentic hands on break from the norm. We made our own linguine, ravioli, and tortellini. Cooked as much as we could eat and kept enough for another meal later. We were taught a new life skill really - she made it simple enough I could impress my friends by making home made pasta on my own!
This was an amazing experience. We started with cheese, meats, treats, and wines at the wine store across the street. Then moved to pasta making. Elenora was great walking us step by step through pasta making. Explaining the whys and why nots of the process. First we made fettuccine, then ravioli, and a couple others. She had an amazing spinich ricotta filling made for us. We boiled our ravioli and she had a wonderful ragú made for us. We sat, ate, laughed, had more wine, and finished up with a tiramisu pudding she had made. A memory of Assisi we won’t forget.
The cooking class started with a surprise wine tasting across the street, which was lovely. Then we switched to tagliatelle, ravioli, and tortellini with Cesarine. She was a wonderful teacher and host. We learned useful techniques from her for our future homemade pasta meals. Our two year old son became instantly friends with her.
Was a great experience and Eleanora was great! Highly recommend the pasta making class. The lunch was delicious and even more special knowing we made it. The wine tasting and cheese pairing was also delicious.
Eleonora was absolutely amazing! First she sent us across the street for an amazing cheese and wine tasting with the store owner. And as we were making the pasta she was an excellent teacher and made sure that we felt confident throughout the whole process!
This activity was a highlight of our trip to Italy. We enjoyed every minute with Eleanora. She was patient and encouraging throughout our class. We appreciate her accepting our request for a class even though there was no one else signed up. It was wonderful to have her undivided attention. Thank you so much Eleanora!!
Eleanora was very experienced and passionate about cooking, making pasta, and all aspects organic local Umbria products. We had a wonderful time and will be using our newly acquired pasta making skills when we get home. The owner of the wine store across the street, Stelvietti, also made the experience unforgettable. He brought us wonderful glasses of wine and local taste of cheese, olive oil, truffles …while we enjoyed the cooking experience.
We loved Eleanora and making pasta! We learned so much, had fun and ate well at the end. We also loved the wine and cheese pairing at the beginning. A memorable experience!
My brother and I had an absolute blast learning to make fettuccine and ravioli in Assisi! Held in a small group setting, we were able to ask questions and not feel lost with the instructions. The instructor was absolutely lovely and we would highly recommend.
Eleanor was a great instructor, genuine, and pleasant to be around. Thorough with techniques. Enjoyed our time, our dinner, and got to take some pasta home.
This was a wonderful experience! Eleanora, our chef, sent us across the street where Francesco served us antipasti of cheeses, meats, bread and wine. Eleanora taught us to make one pizza dough which could be turned into three pastas-fettuccine, ravioli and tortellini. Along with a delicious ragu and spinach and ricotta filling, we made and ate spinach & ricotta ravioli. We also got to take our fettuccine home! Eleanora had patience for both my husband and me, since we were the only ones in the class! I’d highly recommend this class for learning about pasta making and eating a delicious meal!
Our chef and teacher Eleanor is delightful and knows her way around all things pasta. She put us at ease with her patience and humor as we clumsily worked the dough. Amazingly we ended up with a fine ravioli dinner as well as hand cut noodles for later. Loved the trick in cutting the noodles. A great experience to add to our sibling vacation.
Eleonora was an excellent teacher. She was patient with us and explained each step well. Ultimately, we were proud of the pasta we made from scratch, and the tiramisu we made was delicious. More than anything, we enjoyed the conversation with our teacher. Eleonora is not only a talented chef but also quite learned and wise. My wife and I learned new things about Italian cuisine, but more importantly, we feel like we made a friend in Assisi.
We had so much fun learning to make fettuccine, ravioli, tortellini and tiramisu with Eleonora! She is a great teacher, and dinner was amazing! We also shared many laughs together. She is the sweetest!
Cant speak highly enough of our time with Eleanor! She was precious and charming and encouraging and instructional and so very patient...this outing went far beyond our expectations. She offers a class "in centro" if you need to be within Assisi city. But we opted to take a taxi (about 50Euro for the 17 min drive) to her stunning place in the countryside. It was a beautiful, spacious home with a main level completely dedicated to her cooking and hosting events. The brick walls and the stunning arches made it feel like a true italian cooking experience. We arrived to a welcome of cheeses, meats, homemade bread and accompaniments. Next we prepped our dessert and out it in the fridge to set and cool. Then we made 2 types of pasta, learning about the right flour, the right measurements, and the correct way to knead the dough. Once done, Eleanor cooked our pasta and we enjoyed a fantastic meal! Highly Highly Recommend
This was just the best! So fun and we learned so much! We can’t wait to make our pasta when we get home! Eleonora was awesome!
I felt privileged to to have a one on one class with Eleonora. She was very patient with me as I didn't get the technique of making padta straight away. The result was delicious and my husband got to enjoy iy too.
We had a very fun and informative day! It was great! Our host was warm and welcoming! We made ravioli, tortellini, fettuccine, and tiramisu. A feast with wine and snacks too! This is a must if you are in the area!
It was more of a cooking demonstration than a hands on cooking class. Non the less - our hosts were gracious and entertaining and all the food she cooked was amazing.
Anna and her husband were so hospitable!! We felt so welcome in their home and enjoyed learning how to make and cook the pasta. The meal was delicious! Our time went by fast and we hated to leave.
Laura and her lovely daughter are wonderful! The pasta was amazing. This experience was not just about cooking but also allowed me to contact with these two love souls on a personal level. What a gift! Thank you, Laura.
Anna and Arnoldo were so welcoming and fun to spend the evening with as she showed us how to cook Italian. I would recommend this event. The food was so good and Anna went above and beyond what was promised.
When we all sat down at the table to eat the meal we all prepared. The Cesarina’s family sat down with us and we all exchanged stories and experiences. K highly recommend this 3 hour cooking session!
A wonderful cooking experience with Eleonora. She has authentically designed and very lovingly passed on the understanding of how to make pasta dough and meat sauce. She responded to recipe requests in advance. I am very grateful that she even conducted the course for me alone. So I was able to ask many questions and she showed me again and again the correct handling of the Matarello or how to form tortellini by hand. This cooking class is a big highlight during my stay in Italy. The prepared pasta as well as the sauce were allowed to be taken away, so I still had a great dinner with the homemade pasta. I am looking forward to applying what I have learned at home and spoiling family and friends with authentic Italian cuisine.
