Itinerary
Meet your guide in front of the Basilica of St. Clare of Assisi and start your tour. The church realized with the typical pink stone extracted from the quarry of the Subasio mountain, contains precious frescos dating back to the period from the XIIth to the XIVth century. After the visit, you will take a taxi (included) to reach the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels. Built on a grandiose scale, the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli is the seventh largest Christian church. After this visit, you will return in Assisi center to visit the magnificient St. Francis Basilica. It is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minor Conventual in Assisi, a town in the Umbria region in central Italy, where Saint Francis was born and died. The Basilica of Saint Francis is world-famous for its 13th-14th century frescoes by the best painters of Italy at that time. Among those, the most famous is Giotto.
Begin your journey at the Basilica of St. Clare, home to the original San Damiano Cross, which, according to tradition, inspired St. Francis to rebuild the Church. Learn about the life of St. Clare, founder of the Order of Poor Clares and one of the most important figures in Franciscan history.
Continue with transportation to the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels, where you will visit the Porziuncola Chapel, the small church restored by St. Francis and considered the spiritual birthplace of the Franciscan movement. This sacred place remains one of the world's most important pilgrimage destinations.
Your experience concludes at the magnificent Basilica of St. Francis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Italy's greatest masterpieces of medieval art. Explore both the Upper and Lower Basilicas while admiring extraordinary frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue and other renowned artists, as your guide reveals the history, spirituality and artistic treasures that make this sanctuary famous around the world.

Giovanni was the best guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and was patient and kind, took his time to really explain in detail everything we were seeing. It made all the difference in our ability to understand the rich history and paintings of the different periods. We had an AMAZING time with Giovanni. Grazie!

Request Alex for your guide. Especially if your interest is spiritual and to learn the lives of St. Francis and St. Clair. Her knowledgeable and experience as a guide is amazing. She will immediately ask you what your interest is and adjust how she guides to this. My wife and I walked away very pleased. And she is so kind and friendly
Marica did an outstanding job! She tailored the tour to our interests. Her 18 years of experience were evident. She has exceptional knowledge of St. Francis and St. Clare. She was very pleasant to work with.
Thank you Frilo! This was the best tour we have ever taking. He took his time with us. He explained everything about the three Basilicas. He went at our pace and didn't rush us through. Highly recommend.
Incredible tour by an amazing tour guide, Andre. The explanation of the frescos featuring the life of Jesus and the life of St. Francis was very interesting.
As examples of early art they are incredible Sadly St Frances gets very much taken over by your groups with guides giving running commentary via audio mikes - spoils the ambience
Our guide, Michele T, was excellent... knowledgeable, personable, and professional. A great experience.
My husband and I travelled to Italy with a large group. We booked this as a private tour and were so glad we did. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided so many details that I wanted to record everything because she knew so much about the history of the Basilica's that it was hard to soak it all in. I wish I could remember her name to give her credit! Highly recommend!

Begonia (our guide with Umbria con me) was an excellent tour guide. Rather informed about history and the details of the importance of Francis, and Assisi, she brought the art, city, and history to life! Highly recommend this tour to help you appreciate Assisi!
Fantastic tour of Assisi! We really enjoyed this tour by our guide, Begonia. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was able to engage us on any level of interest that we expressed. Highly recommend Umbria con me tour of Assisi!
Our group of 7 people had a great time on this well-organized full day trip to Assisi from Rome on a Sunday in May 2023, starting from David, my email contact in Umbriaconme, who responded quickly to my inquiries and considered my request to add the Duomo in Orvieto in our itinerary, to Fabrizio, our driver and to Maricar, our tour guide. Fabrizio is very professional and we were impressed when he arrived on time at our hotel in Rome in his Sunday suit. He is a reliable driver and speaks English very well. On our way to Assisi, he told us about the historical buildings and famous roads in Rome and Umbria as well as amusing stories about Italy, so there was no boring moment in the 3-hour journey each way. Maricar, our guide in Assisi is a competent tour guide and very knowledgeable about the history of the 3 Basilicas (St Francis, Sta Chiara and Saint Mary of the Angels) and Umbria as she was from there. As we have 2 elderly in our group, she took care of their needs so that they will be able to visit the Basilicas at their own pace. She also went out of her way to find a restaurant nearby that would serve late lunch with typical Umbrian dish. Highly recommended.
Our personal time for prayer, also I felt really sick at the middle of the tour and the tour guide was more than understanding of my situation
Our tour guide was wonderful. She had a wealth of experience with the area. It was obvious that she has a real passion for this tour. She was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor.
Marica, our guide, was amazing, extremely knowledgable, like a history book. She was patient and thorough!! Her english was perfect. My 12 and 10 years old kids understood her and learned alot from her details. The taxi ride to Sta Maria de Angeli was smooth and easy. Be sure to wear comfy walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Great, great tour given by Marica! Thank you
Fulfilling a dream visiting this wonderful place….
Fabulous basilica with wonderful paintings!!
The guide was excellent. It was in Spanish, but she was also a very knowledgeable person about everything we visited.
We had a 30 euro menu. My friend is allergic to fresh cream. The waitress kindly offered to change the trim. The dishes are very well presented and there is taste. You can see it's fresh bravo
We have with Monia an excellent guided tour of Assisi,Spoleto and of the mountains and valleys of Umbria.
