Daniel was an amazing guide, who was very informative and engaging. It was such a beautiful experience to see the giraffes. It was well worth the visit. Definitely wear long pants and closed in shoes.

We just had a tour of the Arusha Giraffe Centre and we're thrilled by the experience! Emmanuel delivered a very informative presentation on the giraffes, the environmental challenges giraffes are facing which have resulted in their decline, and the positive steps the Centre is taking to not only assist the animals under their care but also to educate everyone on changes that can not only reduce the risk to giraffes but also the environment. After the presentation, we *walked with the giraffes". Although we had just completed a safari and seem literally hundreds of giraffes, nothing compared to standing literally meters away from these magnificent creatures. After the tour, we decided to show our support by "adopting" Lottie!
Great experience! Emanuel is a very knowledgeable guide. Up close to gariffe and learnt a lot about its habitat. Highly recommended!
A great experience! We were picked up and dropped off in Arusha. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and passionate. Being so close to wild giraffes was a once in a lifetime experience.
We absolutely loved this experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained the life of the giraffe. We also saw warthogs, zebra and buffalo. Our guide took us to the nearby waterfall as well. This was our first experience seeing giraffe in Tanzania and I would 100% recommend to everyone.
Daniel was our tour guide and taught us all about the giraffes. We got to see all four giraffes at once! He told us that they rehabilitate the giraffes and set them free once they are healed. Super cool & ethical experience! I would give yourself extra time to get there as it is quite out of the way.
Had a fun visit to the Arusha Giraffe Centre in Tanzania. Our guide Daniel gave us an interesting and informative tour. Including analyzing giraffe poop!!
We were on our way back to Arusha from the ngorogoro crater (spent the night in Karatu) and stopped by on a whim to get our giraffe fix and we were not disappointed. To say this is a giraffe center is true but an understatement. This organization, in addition to helping restore the decreasing giraffe population, is also involved in research and education in sustainable farming practices for TZ. At this center you will earn about sustainable farming, capture of bio-gasses, preservation of giraffes and a litany of other things Also, you get to walk with giraffes. 🦒 there’s something about giraffes. These giraffes were very calm and content. We were about 10’ away at points and had no problems getting pictures. The guide did a good job in educating us on the different types of giraffes, how to identify gender and all sorts of good stuff. If you like nature, this trip is well worth your time. If you’re not going with a guide or it’s your guides first time, once you turn off the main road… keep going… and keep going. When you get to the Presbyterian church with a giraffe center sign… keep going lol.
This was an incredible experience and was a great way to learn about giraffe in a natural habitat. The guide did great job explaining about both the centre and the giraffe. I would highly recommend this if you get the chance.
Truly a once in a lifetime experience!! Seeing the giraffe up close and personal in their natural habitat was so special. As Well as having a guide who was so knowledgeable about the surroundings area and its giraffes. Can’t recommend this experience enough!!
Absolutely amazing experience, giraffes were super calm and came very close up also very useful and educational experience!! Five stars highly recommend :))))
Our visit to the Giraffe Centre was amazing. Seeing the giraffes up close was a truly special experience. We also loved the beautiful nature and the peaceful walk around the area. It was great to learn more about the giraffes and their conservation. Highly recommended!
Great experience at Arusha Giraffe Center with our guide Daniel who was very kind and professional. A big thanks also to Nicholas who helped us to pull out the car from the mud. Andrea&Valentina from Italy
This is a very valuable and good natural place, where you get a chance to learn about giraffes and the changes in the drying environment. I recommend you to go there!
A truly memorable visit to this worthy initiative, i would recommend to anyone in the area. Wonderful experience being that close to giraffes in their natural habitat and they are trying to do so much for the local community.
Spectacular experience if you're looking for a way to spend your afternoon in Arusha. This conservation reserve is dedicated to protecting these majestic giraffes
When we arrived in Arusha. We had a some time to do something. So we visited Arusha Giiraffe Centre. A local initiative to preserve land, nature, giraffes and at the humans by restoring back a sustainable environment. The first part of the tour is spent learning about the land, the impact of humans, importance of agriculture and the endangered Maasai giraffes. Then you explore the grounds where also the giraffes are from a close by distance. We took the opportunity to also have a nice local lunch within this great setting. Understanding that the fee including lunch is there to support this initiative. That by leading by example it can be an inspiration for others. We sincerely enjoyed the experience. Something recommended if you are interested and have a moment in Arusha.
It is a 45-60 minute drive from Arusha. Then depending on exactly where the 4 giraffes are, it is 1-2 kilometers walk. Then you get to stand as close as 3 meters to the giraffes. Take all the pictures you want.
An amazing and informative visit. A great way to spend an afternoon. The founders of the center have done an amazing job on rehabilitating the land in their park to accommodate and care for giraffes. the staff are friendly and highly knowledgeable.
An amazing experience at an ethical giraffe sanctuary. We were able to walk pretty close to them, without feeding or petting which affects their ability to release them back to the wild in the future. It’s not very touristy or overcrowded, uses money generated from tickets to educate the local children and farmers on giraffe protection and regenerative farming. We were greeted with a drink and tasty snack, and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would also recommend checking out the toilets XD
The organisation is committed to the renaturation of the region, is increasingly reforesting the surrounding area and is training farmers and schoolchildren in ecology. During the walk with giraffes, we came within 3 metres of these wonderful animals several times. I would heartily recommend it to anyone!!!
I found out about the Arusha Giraffe Centre on Google. Upon arriving a lovely guide called Jerome explained in depth how giraffes are an endangered species. Hence why the centre was set up. The giraffes have been rescued from some of the game reserves and will be released back into the wild once they are ready. It was fantastic seeing giraffes so close and being able to spend some time with these majestic animals. You cannot feed or pet them. It is all about conservation and that is the priority. However you can walk very close to them. I was only a few feet away. If you have time the centre is well worth a visit.
The guide really knew all about the local habitats and farming practices. We now know how endangered giraffes are. Then we went out of foot...and got up close to 4 giraffes. Amazing. Definitely recommend this tour !!
The experience was fabulous! We got to see the 4 giraffes close up. It was very informative about conservation of the giraffes and the land. The guides were very knowledgeable. Everyone should put this on their list of places to visit in Arusha.
Enjoyed this little tour! Took a short walk through the bush to have an up-close encounter with 4 giraffes. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed our time here!
This is an experience not to be missed. Jerome was an excellent guide, and dedicated to regeneration of the land and care of the giraffes. We walked with 5 feet of the giraffes!! Jerome’s knowledge about the land and the giraffes as well as other animals was bottomless. We were very impressed by this tour and highly recommend it.
It was a super fun and educational visit to this centre located in Arusha. The place is beautiful, especially during rainy season because is so green around and it was very lovely to see those giraffes close by.
I had a private tour and my guide had been a teacher then studied his Bachelor of wildlife studies so he was very informative. I also met the couple who have dedicated 17 years to develop this conservation area. Not only are they breeding giraffes to set free in Serengeti or Ngorongoro where they will be protected they are providing education on land management to the Maasai so they can be more productive yet help the environment.
It was an incredible experience to do with kids, we literally walk with the giraffe. Nic explained everything with a lot of enthusiasm. They are doing a great project .
The AGC is the best place to visit for both regenerative education and natural experience of Giraffes in thier wild state putting much efforts in showing ways possible to foster their conservation status as their population is declining at high rate.
We had a bit of time back in Arusha after safari and I'm always up for seeing the amazing Masai giraffes. Our tour guides explained how farming practices and climate can lead to severe erosion in this part of Africa. Over 17 years he and his wife have restored the land at the Giraffe Center with sustainable agricultural practices. They are working hard to educate Masai youth. The guide was always respectful of the Masai culture, but he has centuries of traditional practices to overcome. A bonus of the trip was being able to walk with giraffes! (keeping a respectable distance.) It is different being on the ground with them, rather than in a safari van. I know the price is a bit steep for this part of Africa, but some of the fee goes to bringing in Masai youth and supporting their education about the land. My friend and I thought this a very worthwhile excursion!
If you are looking for an authentic adventure to add to your African Safari… look no further. Not only do you get up close and personal with the tallest animals on earth but you’re helping a greater cause… who could say no to that?! The Walk with Giraffes experience is an amazing conservation effort with a goal of educating visitors and local school children as well as working with locals to make a greater difference. On arrival we were given a clear overview of the conservation and regenerative efforts that have taken place…. and you can see the changes that have happened. Afterward, the learning continued as we were escorted down the well-marked path to where the giraffe were grazing. We came within a safe distance of the animals where we had the opportunity to watch them in a natural habitat and get to know their quirks. As it was explained to us… our modest entry fee will be put towards bringing a busload of local children out to the centre to educate and engage them in the process. Simply amazing. Thank you Nick for such a great experience! I see some giraffe fundraising in my future 🦒
We had a nice walk into the bush of Arusha Giraffe Centre, were able to get very close to the giraffes. Whoever wants to experience a well thought-out-project worth a visit. Thanks a lot to Nick and his fabulous team.
The Arusha Giraffe Center not only works tirelessly to protect giraffes but also partners with local communities in transformative agriculture initiatives to address one of the key drivers of giraffe habitat loss—unsustainable farming practices. By promoting sustainable, eco-friendly agricultural methods, the center empowers local farmers to make a living without expanding into crucial giraffe habitats. This transformative agriculture approach helps preserve natural ecosystems, reduce deforestation, and create a harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife. The center’s vision is to help communities thrive alongside conservation efforts, allowing people to benefit from the land while also protecting the giraffes’ natural habitat. Learning about this holistic approach was eye-opening and showed me how interconnected conservation and community well-being truly are. This experience has not only deepened my appreciation for giraffes but also opened my eyes to how impactful sustainable agricultural practices can be for the environment as a whole.
The hosts Natalie and Nate were very welcoming and give us a detail and enlightening presentation about why they do what they do and its benefits to humanity which was brilliant. I also love their relationship and genuine care for the giraffe and the environment.
A highlight of my life. Such a great experience. The owners are fantastic people! They are doing a great work here and it’s worth the money.
The experience was eye opening. One I would recommend to everyone. I appreciate the information being communicated and particularly the primary focus being the local children who are the future key players. I honestly am looking forward to the impact this center will bring to the area. The walk with the giraffes was amazing, they are such graceful animals and to experience them upclose, such a dream.
What an inspirational visit. A fabulous 1/2 day trip from Arusha that can easily be paired with the cultural centre for a day of entertainment close to Arusha. Amazing to hear how the re-wilding can improve the land and how this little piece of tourism can also help local school children to understand their surroundings and educate them in how to look after their land and animals for years to come. So beautiful to see the giraffes in such green surroundings and to be so close to them. Having been part of a large meeting in Arusha it can also be organised as an educational social group visit. Really do feel that it should be a location for 'Clarkson's Farm on Tour'. An absolute must if in Arusha, thank you Nick and the team.
Very educational and very interesting! You learn a lot about agriculture and the giraffes. And of course, you come really close to the giraffes. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful place! Its an interesting drive to get there, passing many Masai families--bring treats to toss to the kids as they love this! We handed out Tootsie Pops. Once at the Centre, we were warmly greeted by Natalie who owns it. She offered us tea, coffee and banana bread, before giving us an educational lecture about Tanzanian agriculture and the symbiotic relationship of animals, humans, plants and myselium. Really great! Then we started our walk; about 40-60 min of walking to find the stunning, amazing, gorgeous four giraffes who are protected an studied. These are lucky animals! We were able to get quite close without disturbing them. And we learned more about the flora and fauna there. My congratulations to Natalie and team for protecting these amazing animals and fostering ideas for regeneration. Don't miss this wonderful visit!
After a lecture on the effects of human behavior on animal habitats, especially giraffes, and the benefits of sustainable agriculture, we set out to find the giraffes. Unfortunately, only 4 giraffes live here, 1 male and 3 female giraffes. After a hike of about 30 minutes, Eduard suddenly appears in front of us and allows us to approach him to within a few meters. You cannot pet or feed the animals. The female giraffes are shy and do not allow close proximity. After taking some photos, we then make our way back. The guides' explanations are clear, and our questions are gladly answered. Unfortunately, the journey is very difficult, and the entrance fee, see photo, is very high. In our opinion, the price-performance ratio is not appropriate. Therefore, only 3 stars! We cannot understand the exuberant reviews.
Great place, super nice guide, and beautiful awareness as well as rescue of these beautiful giraffes. Prices are quite high (see photo), but this is a help center; here are the prices on-site: • adult: 55 dollars • 3-15 years old: 27.50 • 0-2: free BUT! Be sure to go equipped with pants and repellent because there are a huge number of ticks in the grass; there is not necessarily a warning from them, having gone with our agency as well. Two people were in shorts, but nothing was suggested about taking pants because we did not know that we had to walk in the Park with very tall grass. Other than that, I recommend it; it is worth the detour.
The visit to the Arusha Giraffe Center was rather spontaneous, but absolutely worthwhile. We were so impressed that we advised our travel provider to include this address in their planning. Great people take care of great animals here. Absolutely recommendable!
Very nice walk in nature with a very experienced and very friendly guide. The road to get there may surprise but it is at all terrain 😉 The encounter with giraffes is extraordinary and they are not fierce 👍🏽
Such a special experience. Nat and Nick run this farm with great passion. The giraffes are prepared again for life outside the farm with a lot of love and patience. We learned so much about the animals and were allowed to stay with them for a long time.
Nice owners who can tell with great passion about bringing back nature and preserving the giraffes.
We first received an extensive explanation about the education center. An inspiring story by Nick. He was very knowledgeable about developments in Tanzania, especially in the field of agriculture. A real eye-opener and a serious mission to support the land, its inhabitants and animals and educate them about a healthier way of farming. The icing on the cake is a beautiful walk towards the giraffes. Enjoy these beautiful animals from a few meters away. A great afternoon!
