Our experience began with a wonderful guided coffee tour, where we learned how traditional Tanzanian coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and prepared using local methods. Enjoying freshly prepared coffee while surrounded by the beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro was truly special. We also enjoyed a delicious traditional Chagga local lunch, giving us a taste of authentic Tanzanian culture and hospitality. To complete this amazing adventure, we visited the beautiful Chemka Hot Springs, where we relaxed in the crystal-clear turquoise waters surrounded by nature. From the warm welcome of the local community to the beautiful scenery, delicious food, and unforgettable moments, every part of this trip was special. A big thank you to Swahili Safari Escape for organizing such a wonderful experience with excellent service, friendly guides, and great attention to detail. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Tanzania!

Itinerary
Today, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the Materuni village, where you will embark on a short but challenging hike to the Materuni Falls. Here, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the waterfall. Later, you will make your way to a nearby coffee farm, where you can learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed. You will have the opportunity to try roasting and preparing your fresh cup of raw, local coffee! You'll enjoy your delicious drink before making your way to a nearby hot spring. The warm water and beautiful scenery make this spring one of the best places to swim at Materuni Falls. After your swim, you will be driven To Kikuletwa Hotspring
After lunch at materuni, your driver will pick you up for the 45-minutes drive from Materuni to Chemka Hotspring via the Arusha-Moshi road. The journey starts on a paved road and then transitions to gravel after about an hour, leading through stunning African countryside with bushland, dry riverbeds, baobab, and acacia trees. Upon reaching Kikuletwa, it resembles an oasis amid sprawling fig trees in the semi-arid landscape. Crystal clear water bubbles from underground caves, earning it the name 'Hot Springs.' If you bring your bathing suit, you can take a refreshing dip and relax in the shade. After a picnic lunch, we'll return to Arusha/Moshi via gravel roads

Reviews
We booked the Private Materuni Waterfalls, Coffee Tour and Kikuletwa Hot Spring experience with Swahili Safari Escape and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, everything felt really well organised. Our guide and driver, Alex, was honestly perfect — friendly, knowledgeable, and very easy to get along with. He made the whole day feel relaxed but still made sure we got the most out of every stop. You could tell he genuinely cared about making the experience special for us, not just ticking boxes. Materuni Waterfalls was beautiful, and the walk there was just as enjoyable as the destination itself. Alex shared bits about the local culture and surroundings along the way, which made it more meaningful rather than just a hike to a viewpoint. The waterfall itself was stunning and definitely worth the effort. The coffee tour was a really nice surprise. It felt authentic and interactive — not staged or rushed. Getting to see the whole process from bean to cup (and actually taking part in it) was something we didn’t expect to enjoy as much as we did. Plus, the coffee was genuinely some of the best we had during our trip. Kikuletwa Hot Springs was the perfect way to end the day. The water is unbelievably clear and refreshing, and we had enough time to just relax and take it all in without feeling rushed. It’s one of those places that looks amazing in photos but is even better in person. What stood out most was how smooth the whole day felt. Timing was spot on, the car was comfortable, and Alex handled everything so we didn’t have to think about logistics at all. Overall, it felt like a really personal experience rather than a generic tour. Would 100% recommend Swahili Safari Escape — and if you can, ask for Alex. He made a great day unforgettable.
Wonderful day, wonderful people! Waterfalls are huge, coffee tour professional and intresting. Thankyou!
The perfect wildlife viewing tour! The guide was very experienced and knowledgeable, accurately predicting when and where animals would appear. Several national parks were all absolutely stunning, with primitive natural scenery that intoxicated us. We saw many wild animals, and couldn't stop taking photos. The itinerary was reasonable and safe, with good vehicle conditions and skilled drivers. For this price to have such an experience, it offers great value for money, highly recommended to all nature lovers!
Seth is an incredibly trustworthy, professional, and detail-oriented guide—and also the owner of this travel agency. He was always punctual and made sure to clean the vehicle thoroughly every day. He was open and knowledgeable about everything, from the plants in the mountains to transparent pricing, sharing insights generously. We had an absolutely wonderful time with him. As a young man who has worked his way up from the Maasai tribe, we were truly inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit.
My husband and I had the pleasure to experience this great tour with Seth as our personal local guide and it was a wonderful experience. The organisation is very professional and we didn't have to worry about anything. All our questions and requests were satisfied. The tour was very informative, varied and authentic, which is what we appreciated the most. We felt very welcome and very much at ease. We would like to repeat the experience in the future, and we highly recommend this provider, also because it's local, and not mediated by many other external agencies. Absolutely worth it ;)
The driver and the organizer were both very friendly, and we really appreciate it. We were very impressed by the coffee tour and the waterfall, I will definitely recommend it. We contacted the tour operator and were able to tailor the tour exactly to our needs. We first visited the Materuni Waterfall and then a Maasai village. The Maasai village was also a very special experience, even if it was a bit strange for us Europeans. Nevertheless, it was worth the experience and it was organized superbly.
This was a beautiful fully guided tour with the most hospitable, kind, local English speaking guides, recall Seth fondly for showing the waterfalls and so many points of interest.
Very well organised and caring to the young ones. We enjoyed the trip and we provided with additional support during our encoursion.
Seth was our guide to Materuni waterfall. What a fantastic trip! Seth was an incredible guide—knowledgeable, passionate, and so much fun to be with. The Materuni Waterfalls and Kikuletwa Hot Springs were absolutely breathtaking, and the coffee tour was a unique and fascinating experience. Seth's attention to detail and genuine care made the day truly unforgettable. I highly recommend booking a tour with him!
Seth was our guide whilst in Arusha and he was fantastic. He was such a positive energy and he always made sure we had everything we needed. We had a special request and Seth made sure he went above and beyond to help us and even hung out with us after our tour ended which was great!
We had such a fantastic day combining nature, culture, and relaxation. The hike to Materuni Waterfalls was rewarding – the waterfall itself is stunning, surrounded by lush greenery. After the hike, we visited a local village for a coffee experience, where we learned every step of the traditional process, from roasting the beans to preparing and tasting a fresh cup together with the locals. The day ended at the Kikuletwa Hot Springs, a beautiful natural oasis with warm, crystal-clear water – the perfect way to unwind after the morning’s activities. A truly authentic and well-balanced experience that gave us a taste of both adventure and relaxation.
Seth is incredible. So at cause, warm and knowledgeable. He can make the impossible possible! He made sure our day was extremely well rounded, comfortable and memorable! Highly recommend going with Seth for this great tour. He is super well connected
The tour we booked wasn’t available as described on the website, but it was specially customized for us upon request, making the experience even more personal and memorable. We had an incredible day visiting the Napuru Waterfalls in Meru Forrest National Park and taking part in a private coffee tour, with Seth as our driver. The tour with Seth was recommended to us after our return from climbing Kilimanjaro, and it was the perfect way to spend a relaxing day. Everything was well-organized, and we were especially impressed by the coffee plantation visit. It was a truly unique experience to see the entire coffee-making process up close and grind, roast and drink the coffee ourselves afterwards. Seth made the trip even more enjoyable with his friendliness and local knowledge. A lunch featuring traditional Tanzanian dishes perfectly rounded off the excursion. Highly recommended!
Kikuletwa Hot Spring, Private Materuni Waterfalls, and Coffee Tour The trip I had was the nicest I have ever taken thanks to Swahili Safari Escape Operator. They paid close attention to our personal preferences for a Tanzania safari and created an itinerary that included a wide range of activities so that we could fully enjoy Tanzania. The schedule was extremely well-planned, and the management all gave us the warmest welcome. The lodgings were superb, and our guide was well informed. I have never felt the need to make any changes after a trip before, until now. There was great team communication. When we asked for some revisions, they reacted right away and made them without any hassle. They are the greatest and most worry-free, and I heartily suggest them.
We went to 4 with family in December 2020 in the middle of COVID. Seth was very cool always smiling full of anecdotes. He went very well with our two teenagers. The day was great the hike accessible to the waterfalls, the village , the people of the villages who explain the cultivation and making of coffee. Then we ground the grain into songs it was very nice.
An extraordinary experience with Seth where we enjoy incredible nature. Seth as a driver on such difficult roads as there are in Africa was excellent and attentive to all our needs as well as how good he has been explaining every detail of culture and life in Tanzania. More than recommended!
