Don't leave Tanzania without visiting Cosmas and his organization. This was one of the most amazing experiences of our trip.My wife and I have participated in coffee tours in Rwanda and Costa Rica, but this experience was far beyond any we have done before. The coffee itself is outstanding, and you'll definitely want to bring some home with you.Cosmas takes the time to personally walk you through every step of the coffee-making process, from picking the beans to roasting them and finally enjoying a cup of coffee you've helped create yourself. The experience is interactive, educational, and incredibly memorable. What makes it even more special is learning about the positive impact Cosmas and his organization are having in the local community. His passion for helping others and preserving local traditions is truly inspiring. If you're visiting Tanzania, this is an experience you absolutely do not want to miss. Highly recommended

Very relaxing, informative experience. Loved the ability to partipate in all aspects of coffee berry picking and processing, culminating in production of our own freshly brewed cups of organic coffee. Lunch provided highlighted local dishes from local food sources - was truly delicious!
Great way to learn about coffee, bananas, sugar cane and local culture
Awesome experience. I don't know how it compares to the larger coffee farms, but Joel was very informative and engaging. The hands on experience far exceeded my expectations. I had one of, if not the best cup of coffee. A must if staying in Atusha.
Cosmas took us on a coffee tour through his family’s farm. He and his friends Joel told (and showed) us much about the coffee farming, roasting and traditional brewing method after which we sat down together, tried our own freshly brewed coffee and talked about life in Arusha, history and politics. Cosmas’s sister cooked up a tasting lunch of local dishes. The whole experience was super interesting and sitting down for coffee and lunch made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend this coffee tour. Part of the tour cost contributes to a local school which is an extra benefit. The booking process was easy and Cosmas arranged transfer for us without any problem .
My family and I enjoyed a lots in this tour! coffee was excellent and the food was the best traditional lunch I have ever had.
This was an amazing experience! We love to experiment ence something unique and a little out of our comfort zone at countries we visit. The house is out of town a bit don’t let that deter you. We hired a driver to take us and wait to return us to the lodge, The owners, husband and wife were so welcoming, shared their story of how this developed. The experience started with a tour of the grounds (a half an acre) with three different types of bananas, mangoes, thyme, parsley, rosemary, avocados, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, more vegetables, and coffee beans . They also offer coffee tasting. The coffee was the best coffee we’ve had in weeks! There were also chickens, a cow for milk and goats. We helped prepare the luncheon cutting up multiple vegetables, meats, rice, making a flat bread, etc. It took about 2 1/2 hours to prepare with all the courses. They had the table set on the top deck with gorgeous view of the mountains. The meal was a feast! Beautiful colors and favorable dishes. We all sat down to eat as a family and friends. I highly RECOMMEND that you book this experience, you will not be disappointed.
Barry was a wonderful host. He taught us all about farming coffee and bananas !! A heads on experience. We husked, ground and roasted some coffee beans and then made coffee. Which went with a delicious home made lunch. Highly recommend this tour !!
We had an amazing time on this tour! We learned a lot and had fun doing it. Picking and making our own coffee was a lot of fun and something we can't do at home. The lunch afterwards was also great! It was our favorite meal in Tanzania. Everyone was very professional and fun to be around.
Incredible experience. The plantation is absolutely beautiful and lush with a wonderful view of the mountain and the sound of the river. Cosmas is a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. The coffee is wonderful and we loved enjoying our cups with a view of the mountain in the treehouse. Highly recommend this experience as the first thing you do when visiting Tanzania (before safari) to get and understanding of some culture and history. It was the perfect introduction. Also, make sure you book the package with food! The meal was delicious and authentic and served in a stunning location.
The coffee making experience was outstanding. Lunch was excellent AND our tour guide COSMAS did a fantastic job. Overall, way more than we expected !!!
We loved this tour!!! This gives you the opportunity to do your own coffee from 0. You understand the whole process perfectly and learn so much. The food was amazing, you get to taste the variety of Tanzania and see how they actually live.
A memorable experience learning about a real Tanzanian farm, and especially coffee from bean to cup. Trying the coffee at the end of the experience in the treehouse with an amazing view was a particular highlight. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable host - highly recommended tour for an authentic, relaxed day.
This was an unplanned and unscheduled tour, but it turned out to be one of the best things we did in the whole of our trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar! We had a day to kill in Arusha, and had already experienced the city with all it's hustle and bustle, so were thinking of an alternative way to spend part our last day. Being coffee lovers with a preference for low key and more personal tours, this one fitted our needs perfectly. Cosmas was very quick to respond, and organised a taxi to pick us up from the city centre for the short trip to his beautiful small farm, set in the forested foothills of Mount Meru. Cosmas was a fantastic host and guided us excellently around his lovely farm, and through the coffee growing, harvesting and traditional coffee making process, which were involved in. Then right through to drinking the coffee in the most gorgeous setting with Mount Meru in the background (clear days only, but still a gorgeous backdrop through the forest). I cannot wait to grind the beans I purchased from here one day soon, and enjoy a cup of this stunning coffee in memory of this brilliant experience! Thanks again Cosmas, and good luck with all the great work you do in your local community!
I recommend this organic coffee and local food tasting tour 100%! I had the privilege of having a private tour with Cosmas, the owner of the coffee plantation. I will never again look at a cup of coffee the same way! I have learned and done the whole process of making coffee from picking up the beans to enjoying a cup of coffee made by yours truly!!! The local food tasting was great as well and Cosmas is an excellent guide and makes this tour a beautiful experience 😊
The coffee tour beat our expectations by a large margin. Kosmos, the owner, demonstrated the whole process from plant to cup in great detail and organized a wonderful meal at the end of the tour. A highly recommended excursion!
The tour is operated by a local small family and held at their property with a small garden of coffee trees and bananas. You can experience the whole process of coffee making, from picking cooffee berries to roasting beans, after which you can enjoy coffee you made. Their first hand explanation about coffee production was interesting. Having said these, given the tour is basically just visiting one of the local families, and listening to a non-professional opinions, it seemed too pricy. S Also, to make matters worse, they even tried to rip off us for the transport fees. They charged 40$!! for the transport from our hotels and the tour venue. To be honest, this tour cannot be recommended.
Enjoyable and informative day. The coffee was great. Even if you aren't a coffee drinker, you'll enjoy this excursion. We had a large group book this and at least 3 were no coffee drinkers but really enjoyed this AND drank the coffee. I had no idea how difficult it is to harvest and prepare coffee for export. The views were awesome, and the lunch was very enjoyable. I really enjoyed getting to see and hear about the local coffee farmers experiences.
This was a really nice tour! It was in a beautiful setting and we learned how coffee is grown, harvested, dried, roasted, and served. I don’t drink coffee but I did drink this coffee!! We also tasted local foods prepared in the village - so good! The guide/owner and his family are welcoming and super-happy people. This is a must do if you’re in Arusha!
this was the best tour of any kind I have ever done. It was authentic and could not be any better. We went to his family's home near Mt. Meru and learned a lot about their tribe, coffee and its role in the economy.
I loved loved loved that tour. One of the most authentic experiences I had in Tabzania. The location is breathtaking and serene. They show you how coffee is made from plants to warm brown liquid in your cup. I enjoyed a fruitful amazing coffee with a stunning view. Usually I am not a big fan of black coffee but this one really got to my heart. Later we had a true authentic Tanzanian local cuisine. I cannot express how much pleasure and excitement it brought to me. Cosmos is very welcoming and helpful. I insistently recommend this experience to everyone who has such an opportunity!
We had very good coffee with an amazing view on mount Meru, a river and the forest. There were also self made snacks. The atmosphere on the "tree house" was very chill, you really enjoy the coffee there. Besides the guide was very friendly and hospitable. Would definetely recommend!!
The small coffee farm is embedded in very scenic nature outside of Arusha. You are surrounded by banana trees, all sorts of plants and flowers, small animals and of course … coffee plants. The farm is a family set-up and on the same ground Cos has established also a small orphanage for children. With your visit you are also supporting this project. The experience on the farm is great, you learn how coffee is grown on a small scale, come to know the family and just enjoy a wonderful calm and natural atmosphere. When you are lucky, you may see some monkeys jumping around in big trees in a not so far distance. When the weather allows, you will have a wonderful view of the Mount Meru, while sitting in a small treehouse and enjoying a tasty cup of home made coffee - made by yourself. All in all a very recommendable excursion if in Arusha and a valuable contribution to help some orphaned children.
A wonderful experience in Arusha, with amazing people.I hardly recommend it.I learnt a lot about coffee ,how to grow, recollect it ,etc.Very interesting activity. In a lovely place.I will surely back.
Incredible experience! Was amazing, totally recomended. Cosmas show us the farm, and the food in the lunch was so good! If you go to Arusha you must go there !
Amazing experience totally recomended, Cosmas is very kind and he show us the farm, coffe plantation, he took us to see the river, amazing views when you are having the best coffee ever! And the food in the lunch was so tasty with so many different and traditional options, this activity it’s a must if you go to Arusha
We had one day off before we went to our tour to Serengeti and decided to visit Cosmas and his little coffee plantage. We couldn't have wished for a better introduction to the culture, food and of course the coffee of Tanzania. We learned everything about coffee and were allowed to carry out all the steps of making coffee ourselves. After the great and rich lunch we were allowed to taste the result of our work => a great feeling after a great day
Cosmas showed us around his farm and we enjoyed a cup of organic coffee on the self-built tree house with a magnificent view of Mount Meru, we also learned step by step how the coffee is made and prepared, which was very fascinating. While we drank coffee together, I enjoyed the silence and listened to nature, you can hear the babbling river, which is located nearby - it's incredible! The coffee tastes delicious, you definitely have to try it!
Pretty mind blowing experience in the end!! I was recommended to visit Coss from someone I'd met in Moshi, as he does good hikes around Arusha. The hike itself was amazing, really fresh and absolutely stunning scenery - I even had a little baby chameleon climb on me!! While walking Coss explained about all the other projects he runs, including a school and the coffee plantation. I visited both, but ended up working in the school for a couple of weeks - I'm a teacher from the UK but couldn't resist the chance to get involved!! The coffee tour was super interesting, Coss really knows his stuff, and it ended with a brew in one of the most spectacular locations I've ever drunk coffee!! The whole thing was an unforgettable experience that I thoroughly recommend.
A SOCIAL FOOD AND COFFEE EXPERIENCE IN ARUSHA. Great way to get immersed in the Tanzanian culture through an authentic workshop-tour on a environmentally friendly coffee plantation where you can make your own coffee, from picking the coffee beans to grinding the fresh coffee. We followed the tour by having a great selection of local food to finish with a cup of your own ready-made fresh coffee with a breath taking view of mount Meru. But the very best part of the day was knowing that enjoying that amazing experience we were supporting the heartwarming endeavors they are carrying out at Furahia Orphanage.
Did the coffee tour in August 21 and loved every second since setting foot in this beautiful place. The whole experience was professionally handled, with the utmost care and respect to the environment. The coffee plantation is nestled in a truly breathtaking setting overlooking Mount Meru. Trust me: as a self-confessed coffee addict, having your own freshly ground coffee in such a magical place is an indeleble experience that you’ll cherish for life. I brought back home a few kgs of coffee and every morning I taste a bit of Arusha 💙 Cosmas and his team clearly love what they do and go above and beyond to teach you everything, answer all questions and make you feel at home. The cherry on top is the social aspect - the coffee and food workshops fund the orphanage that is built in situ. Volunteered for a few weeks and quite simply fell in love with all the kids and highly committed teachers. This is how circular economy is done. I could write forever about this life changing experience but I don’t want to spill all the beans 😉 and allow you to enjoy it to the fullest.
Furahia Cultural Experience is one of the best memories I take with me from Arusha. Both the food and Coffee experience were outstanding, congratulations to the owner who was really welcoming and attentive. The place has a special charm. Lush vegetation, view of Mount Meru, and an exquisite Coffee made by ourselves. Unspoilt, peaceful and very picturesque. Sunsets worth enjoying. Fully recommended. I went there as many times as I could and I'd definitely come back again and again.
Brilliant experience allround, personalised tour of a coffee farm followed by seeing the coffee made and enjoying a delicious lunch with all fresh produce from the farm.
The experience at Furahia Cultural Tourism was really amazing! We enjoyed a delicious selfmade coffee with a stunning view over the forest and the Mount Meru! A very good place to relax and to have a nice little chat with the kind owners :) I really recommend this place!! Asante Sana for this unforgettable experience!!
Highly recommended experience to learn more about Arusha and the history of coffee. The guide taught us many things about the history and process of coffee. We visited his plantation and made our own coffee. In the end you can take it and give you the rest to do it at home. Speaking English is essential but really worth it for an authentic and different experience.
Incredibly good coffee with a very nice view! The tours are great organized and very easy to understand!:)
Perfect place to drink coffee! The homemade coffee is sipped in a beautiful place overlooking Mount Meru. Cosmo, the founder, is very accommodating and friendly and answers every question in great detail. I can only heartily recommend to everyone! Perfect spot for coffee!
