Exploring a new city can feel overwhelming at first — that’s why an Arusha City Tour is the perfect way to begin your journey. With a knowledgeable local guide by your side, you’ll discover the city’s most vibrant spots while gaining insight into everyday life in northern Tanzania. An introduction to the rhythm, culture, and character of Arusha. Stroll through the lively Maasai Market, where talented artisans display colorful handmade crafts, intricate beadwork, paintings, and souvenirs. Watch local artists at work and browse the many small stalls filled with unique treasures. Continue to the bustling local food and spice market, where the scents of fresh produce and aromatic spices fill the air, offering a true taste of daily life in the city. This tour is a wonderful opportunity to connect with local culture, meet friendly vendors, and find a meaningful gift — whether for someone back home or as a special memory of your time in Tanzania.
Visit our Maasai village and step into the authentic, traditional life of the Maasai people. You’ll be welcomed with traditional songs and dancing by the Maasai women. You’ll be dressed in traditional Maasai clothing and invited to taste our local Maasai tea. The village Chief will join you to share stories about our culture, traditions, and daily life. Explore the village, watch the famous Maasai warrior jumping dance, and even learn the steps yourself! For those interested in deeper cultural traditions, you have the opportunity to witness how the Maasai slaughter a goat and drink fresh animal blood-a symbolic tradition in Maasai culture. Visit our local Maasai market for beautiful handmade jewelry and crafts, directly from the community. For the full experience - stay overnight in the village. Sleep in a traditional Maasai hut or camp under the stars. Milk goats, share stories by the bonfire, and take in stunning sunsets and sunrises beneath the wide African sky.

Guide Praylord was fantastic. Very relaxed and knowledgable. Tailored Arusha city tour to include Tanzanite experience (thanks Imbruta) Declaration Museum (thanks Alice) and Heritage Culture Centre. Visit to Engikareti Massai village 70km out of town was truly amazing. Chance to fully engage with warm and welcoming people. Thank you!
The city tour was good: we visited a tanzanite museum and a local market, and lunch was generous too. We also visited the organizer’s family, which made for a much more authentic, less touristy experience. They were really welcoming, and we had the chance to chat with them and learn a lot about their everyday lives and how things work in the area. On the way back, we also stopped at a proper Maasai market, not one of the souvenir shops in town.
This is not just a tour it’s a total cultural experience starting with a Tanzanite education followed by a visit to a bustling city central market then the cultural heritage center and gallery. The unique gem is the end of the tour to a Maasai village to visit the family of the guide to learn about their way of life and getting immersed in their culture. A must do in Arusha-kilimanjaro.
Our guide, Peter met us promptly at our accommodation and we started off visiting the Tanzanite Experience which was very informative. Next, we visited the Masai market where we saw the locals shop for their daily groceries. After, we stopped by at an African art gallery offering many beautiful handicrafts and souvenirs where we could picked some gifts. The highlight of the day was visiting the Masai Village and meeting the residents and little children there. We were also entertained to some Masai singing and dancing during the visit. Overall, it was a very interesting day and the weather was great!
I travelled from Vancouver canada and booked the tour on viator as a solo traveler. I felt safe the entire tour. We saw arusha city, market, visited a tanzanite store, watching a video, clock tower marking the middle of africa, then we drove out to the maasai village. The drive the the village was 45 mins or so but you get to see the African life in its true state as we drove. I really enjoyed watching the cars, tuk tuk, people, livestock as we drove. The landscape changed quite a bit along the drive too which was cool to see. The village was very heart warming and welcoming. We saw inside their homes, were dressed up in traditional clothing, i joined the ladies in the welcome dance, the young boys started a fire with a stick and donkey poo, the boys demonstrated their traditional dance. It was every thing i wanted to see.
I only did the Masai tour with Denish Aoko with Aoko Tours. It was one of the hi-lights of my 25 day Africa adventure. I met the chief and many members of the Masai community. We sat inside their hut, drank tea, and talked for a long time. They shared their customs and lifestyle. We built a fire by friction, practiced with a Masai spear, toured their boma, and saw their livestock herd. Words and pictures cannot do the experience justice. A must do experience if you want to learn about the Masai.
Praylord is a good guy. The spice market and women's market were very interesting & atmospheric! The Maasai Village is a MUST go. The Maasai culture is very patriarchal. The boma we were all built by women. We walked around the village, spoke a little to the women, and visited 2 of the huts; very small & smoked filled places. Praylord explained everything well to us. It was a very interesting visit but I wish that something more can be done for the Maasai women and children, none of whom go to school.
This tour went far beyond our expectations. Not only did we learn about the mining of tanzanite and get guided into the depths of the local market to meet vendors such as Mr. Spice,, we were escorted to our guides' Masai village home to meet their family and learn all about their Masai life and traditions. We danced with the women in the welcoming ceremony, we jumped with the warriors during their dance and jumping competition, and had storytime and Q&A under a tree with our guides. What a fabulous day. If you are interested in learning about the Masai culture from true locals, this tour cannot be missed.
Wow! This was an incredible experience, and I definitely recommend this tour if you want to truly experience Tanzanian culture and daily life. The guides were accommodating, knowledgeable, and willing to answer all our questions. We enjoyed visiting the market and the village where we were able to meet the guides’ family and take part in dancing.
This tour went above and beyond our expectations. Our guides showed us the authentic Tanzania, answered all our questions, and made sure we felt safe the entire time. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit the local market and the family’s village. 10/10 recommend booking this tour.
This is a fantastic way to end the trip or start your trip to Tanzania. It was our first day after we arrived in the new country that we had never been to before. Naima was welcoming and picking up from our hotel and we went to Arusha downtown and we visited the central food market for a short tour, and then I come to know why people make this tour to be a top rated in Arusha, Is very local market and you get to meet the true friendly Tanzanians. Our best part was the kitchen part we went with our best instructor that led us for the whole class from start to finish. This is absolutely a must do experience in Tanzania. Highly recommend.
An unforgettable experience; we really enjoyed it. Very friendly. The food was very good.
Great day at the Maasai village and in town. Everyone super friendly and welcoming. Very delicious lunch. Praylord has been very opened to share his culture and story. I have learned a lot. Will recommend friends to join this tour next time they are here. Could bring some children clothes for the kids, wish I have done that.
Great family experience. A wonderful and true way to show my family what life is like in Tanzania. This is not something you can experience on safari. It's a genuine unique and authentic experience.
I have been in the travel industry for nearly 40 years and this was among the best tours I have ever taken. I was surprised when we were picked up in an older bus but being on the tour, I realize it was needed as the village was very remote. I would do it again!
This was a great experience from the easy transportation to the explanation of the history and culture of Arusha and the Massai tribe. I would highly recommend booking this our guide. Praylord was very friendly and very informative. He told us everything we needed to know, and even answered all the questions we had, even though some of them were random questions, not even related to the tour. I think this is a great experience for couples families or even if you’re a solo traveler, it was very safe. I would highly recommend booking this and specifically ask for Praylord because he was awesome!
This was a really memorable experience from start to finish. The tour around Arusha was a great intro — very lively and colorful, especially the Maasai Market and the food and spice market. The highlight for me was visiting the Maasai village. The welcome with songs and dancing felt real, not staged, and hearing the village chief talk gave it more meaning. I even tried the jumping dance, which was fun (and harder than it looks). What made it special was how immersive it felt — not just watching, but actually being part of it. If you have the time, I’d definitely recommend staying overnight. It’s really peaceful, and the sunsets are beautiful. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants a more genuine cultural experience in Tanzania.
Very interesting tour! A complete different world from what I‘m used to. But it worked out great and I got memories that I‘ll keep for the rest of my life. Extraordinary literally speaking. Many thanks.
If you’re thinking about visiting Tanzania, I can very much recommend to book the Maasai village experience in Arusha. When visiting we realized it’s a full-on cultural moment. You’re welcomed like a friend, wrapped in vibrant Maasai shukas, and pulled right into the energy. You get to experience music and traditions that feel incredibly real. It felt special standing in the middle of the village with the incredible people and the kids playing, while also learning how they live. If you want more than just sightseeing, and want to have an experience I would recommend this.
Our Arusha tour and Maasai village experience was truly unforgettable. Visiting the central market, the Maasai craft market, and the Tanzanite Experience offered a wonderful introduction to Arusha and its vibrant local culture. The highlight of the day was visiting a Maasai village near Longido, which was absolutely mind-blowing. Being warmly welcomed by the community and dressed in traditional attire was such a special moment. Learning about their way of life and rich cultural traditions was both humbling and deeply meaningful, an experience we will always cherish. Our guide for the day was brilliant, sharing a wealth of local knowledge and insights about the community. It was an incredible experience from start to finish. Thank you!
I true with my family there it true really a very very very nice experience would do it again exactly with the same provider very friendly clean you felt very welcome my children felt very comfortable had their fun got to know new cultures from me it even gets 10 stars 👌👌👍👍
The experience was great. We thought it was going to be more touristy, but we were alone in the Maasai village, we were able to chat, see all the houses, their dances, and the delicious food under a tree
