Four friends and I climbed Kilimanjaro on the seven-day Machame Route with Zanzi Trekking and Safaris, and I couldn’t have asked for a better company and group to have gone with. Our guides Justin, Zaka and Naomi were fantastic. They knew exactly when to push us and when to slow things down, and their encouragement on the tougher moments made a huge difference. The rest of the crew was just as impressive: the camps were always ready, the food was great, and every practical detail was handled so we could focus on the climb. What I’ll remember most is how kind and friendly the Kili fighters and our guides were. Their warmth and patience made it an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you to Justin, Zaka, Naomi and the whole crew. If you’re thinking about Kilimanjaro, I’d recommend Zanzi without hesitation!

I had a wonderful experience with Zanzi Trekking and Safaris, both on a custom safari in the northern Serengeti and climbing Kilimanjaro! We did the safari with Aaron, who was incredibly knowledgeable, great company, and took care of all our needs throughout the trip. The itinerary was perfectly tailored to us, with lovely campsites and great meals. Everything felt thoughtfully planned and personal, so we could relax and enjoy our time in the Serengeti. For Kilimanjaro, we were a group of five friends taking on the seven-day Machame Route. Our guides, Justin, Zaka and Naomi, were fantastic, and the whole crew looked after us so well. From meals and camp arrangements to encouragement on the harder days, they took care of every need. Their warmth, patience and support made a challenging trek so much more enjoyable. What stood out across both trips was how much everyone cared about making the experience special. A huge thank you to Aaron and our Kilimanjaro crew! I would happily recommend Zanzi to anyone planning a safari or a Kilimanjaro climb.
We could not have had a better experience completing our Kilimanjaro hike with Isaack and Naomi. Isaack John was our head guide. It was clear right from our pre-trek briefing that he was a knowledgeable, organised, detail-oriented, and considered guide whom we had full confidence in his ability to take us up the mountain. His concern for our comfort and safety was clear from the start in the thorough approach he took to ensuring we had the right kit. On the mountain, he continued that same confidence-ensuring care. He was so diligent in both checking in on our health and also carefully explaining to us what would be required in our next day’s hike. He was also great fun to hike with - consistently, full of jokes, good stories, and songs. This was all instrumental in keeping us motivated through the hardest parts of the hike (Kilimanjaro is not for the faint-hearted!), especially on that summit night. Naomi Palangyo was just fantastic. Right from the off, we found her to be an enthusiastic guide who was a lot of fun to be around. Naomi had a huge depth of knowledge of the mountain but also took a truly caring approach to helping us get up the mountain. She seemed to be able to read exactly when the pace needed to slow a little, where we were tired or finding the hike harder, or when we were needing motivation. She was a constantly sunny presence on the mountain, whose optimism never wavered, and we just really enjoyed being around her. Nicholas Limu cooked up a storm for us every breakfast, lunch, and dinner of our hike. We hadn’t expected our climb to turn into a tasty introduction to Tanzanian cuisine but it did! Particular highlights included Mchuzi wa Samaki (a fish curry with tomato, ginger, and coconut), steak kebabs and fried rice, and (a real home comfort for us) his own version of pizza and pasta bolognese. His soups were also real warmers on the cold nights on the mountain. John Assey was our waiter throughout the week but that really undersells his role in that he was responsible for making our stay at camp as comfortable as possible. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him. As well as serving us dinner, waking us up, and getting us bowls for washing, he really helped us out in sorting us out with charging packs when our own stopped working. Throughout this, he was upbeat and a delight to be around - even when he had to wake us at 11pm in the middle of bitter near-hurricane force winds to get us up for our summit hike! Praygood Daudi was also excellent as our summit porter. Like Naomi and Issack, he was instrumental in motivating us to the top, and, quite literally at one point, dragged us up the mountain. There were then our porters - George, Anoldi, Godson Eliamani, Dereck Nyangusi, and Bernardi. We still have no idea how they managed to lift the entirety of camp up the mountain each day. Their presence at camp and coming to meet us at the end of each day always lifted our spirits. Special shout-out also to George for helping our exhausted bodies find their footing on the downhill from the summit, and for wiping the dust off our boots at the end of each day. I cannot recommend Zanzi highly enough!
This was one of the best experiences ever only thanks to the amazing team. Resti was very helpful, friendly and informative before arrival. Our guides Justin and Jemanne were the BEST. So kind, helpful, and attentive. They made sure to brief us every day so we knew what to expect. They also ate with us every meal, told us great stories and a lot about themselves. The chef and his meals were so good and unique we want to make them at home. The rest of the team were just as amazing of course. They always had a smile on their face, always greeted us and helped us with anything we needed. On longer days they were ready near the end to assist by any means, taking our bags if necessary or just giving their support and motivation. It really felt like a family from the start. As I told them many times, EVERYBODY deserves a team this great at what they do. The service is unmatched.
This climb could not have gone better. And we owe that all to the team who was there to support us along the way. From reaching out to the sales support team, and finalizing our details for pickup, to summiting the peak of Africa, everything went so smooth. Denis and Resty were great support before we arrived in Arusha. They were very helpful with our myriad of questions and concerns, even creating a group chat for us to discuss details. Once we were greeted by our guide, Justin, in Arusha, our Kili family bloomed. He, along with Jumanne (assistant guide), provided us with ample information along our hike. We were blessed with incredible stories of the mountain and I loved being able to learn something new everyday. Of course they kept us safe and welcome the entire time; they always ensured we had proper gear and briefed us nearly everyday so we were prepared for what was to come. A huge part of preparing for the climb each day included fueling for our long days. This could not be accomplished without the generosity of our camp chef. The food was delicious and plentiful! The porters were always ready to greet us and make their difficult jobs look so simple. We are especially grateful for Kelvin, who went above and beyond to help us descend Kili once things got a bit difficult. The entire team went out of their way to make our experience one we will never forget. No amount of money or reviews can ever put into words how incredible the trip was. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
My partner and I had a once in lifetime Kilimanjaro experience and Zanzi made it all possible! We had a few hurdles throughout our trek but the team were so adaptable and continued to support us throughout our 7 days in the national Park. George and Lazaro were amazing guides and without their motivation we never would have made it to the summit! All the porters are legends and our chef helped fuel us with 3 tasty meals a day. Zanzi were very easy to communicate with from the very beginning and quick to respond to our queries. I would highly recommend choosing Zanzi for your Kilimanjaro adventure
I recently finished a 7-day Kilimanjaro Lemosho-route and I find no words for my experience. As me and my two friends booked the hike, we received an amazing price offer and access to an amazing communication crew ready to assist us from the very first beginning. Our view of the company started at top, but got even better as we met our amazing crew as the trek started. We immidately got an incredibly professional view of our amazing main guide Charles, who came several times to our hotel to assist us in our preparations, being ready to show up whenever we wanted. With his long experience of the mountain, calm voice and knowledge about the trek, Charles was always there for us and made us feel safe even during the last tough days to the top! Also, we had the amazing opportunity to meet our lovely Isack. With his positivity and motivating energy, Isack made us smile even when we felt at our lowest mode on the tough trek. I have seldom met someone so warm, serviceminded and motivating as him, a guide who made our vacation so much funnier than we could ever have expected! He and Charles were a real dream team to bring to the top! In addition, we had an amazing crew of porters and an amazing chef! When we booked the trip, we were sure it was about to be a budget trek because of the affordable price. But our chef Dastan proved us wrong from the very first day. As we arrived at the first camp site, we were met by an amazing dining tent filled with one of the tastiest soups we had ever eaten. And it did not stop there. Right after the starter, we received incredibly tasty dishes with standards better than a hotel restaurant. With fresh fruit, a big variation of soups and tasty dishes of all kinds, Dastan gave us an culinary experience and energy that made our summit possible, I don’t know how to thank him enough. Also, we would like to thank our patient and ambitious waitor Pita. Every morning, no matter the time, Pita came to our tents to serve us with amazing coffee and tea. With a big smile on his lips, he worked extremely hard carrying heavy equipment, before quickly being ready to serve us whenever we wanted. And lastly, a big thank to the rest of the serviceminded, hard-working and positive porter crew, who everyday packed our stuff and prepared them for us before we arrived to every camp. With dance, big smiles and hard work, they made our Kilimanjaro trek all the way to the top possible, even making it feel easy for us. So a big thank you to Charles, Isack, Dastan, Pita and all amazing porters making our dream come true. It feels amazing being a part of your familiy :)
I think Zanzi Trekking and Safaris provided a really enjoyable mountainhiking experience. First of all, im really happy with the guides, Charles and Isac and how they treated their client. Both Isac and Charles made the environment between the group feel comfortable and relaxing. Also i felt very safe during this week. The guides had safety into consideration in every moment, and made sure nothing went wrong when it comes to safety. For example, thay always make sure we drink enough water, wearing the required clothes depending on the circumstances. But everything little thing beyond that too. It just felt like nothing really could not go wrong and if it did, for example if somwone slipped, the guides were always there to make sure i was okay. They were also really good at motivation, singing songs and doing peptalks, always when we needed it the most. Other than that, I also want to speak up about the crew, the portars, the cook, the waiter. I think the crew did an amazing job i really think they provided with alot more quality service than any of us clients expected. Even though there were though moments and alot of carrying, I saw them always having a smile on their faces. It was like their energy spread to us, and made us clients more comfortable and excited. Cöimbing with these guys, this crew, I could feel they are nice people, and they want the client their best, and they want their client to achieve their dreams of reaching the summit. When i realized the whome team being happy for us, it made feel even more excited and kept me pushing to the top. I would definitely recommend safari trekking and Safari someone who is looking to climb Kiliminjaro.
It was an amazing experience with much beautiful nature and great customer service. We had two trustworthy guides named Isack and Charles who made us believe we could make it to the top of Kilimanjaro during the whole process. We got to learn interesting stuff during the hikes up the mountain about different animals and plants. They were very knowledgeable in these areas and that really amazed me. These are guides who know what they’re doing and know the Kilimanjaro from the inside and out. Let’s not forget about the rest of the crew. We had porters that helped carry our tents and other equipment to make the trip easier and more comfortable for us. They work really hard and I’m really grateful for that. Our waiter and chef brought amazing food and an amazing experience in every meal of the trip. Even in the middle of the night on summit day we got cozy tea and popcorn to be prepared well. I felt that I could trust the whole crew and we got treated like family to them and that adds a lot to the experience of the trip.
The 7 Days Machame Route to Kilimanjaro was an incredible adventure. We went as a group of 5 friends, accompanied by our amazing guides: Justin, Naomi, and Zacharia, as well as by 17 crew members, including lovely Kelvin, Dastan, and George, who made sure we are fed, warm, and happy at all times. I would not have made it to the summit if it wasn't for them. The trek was very challenging due to the altitude but the crew motivated us every step of the way whilst making sure we are safe to continue. I would definitely recommend Zanzi Trekking and especially our Crew 💫 🌋
First of all thanks to Lawrence. He drove us from Nairobi to Arusha and took us to the Nairobi Giraffe Centre. First the Safari (4 days) Our safari guide Aron drove us safely through those difficult roads. He spent many hours driving every day so we could explore the Mara River for 2 days, the central Serengeti for 1 day, and Ngorongoro. Then he drove us back to Arusha safely. We saw many lions, 3 brother cheetahs hunting together, many elephants and giraffes. We sadly missed seeing the leopard, but Aron made the whole experience amazing. Now the Kilimanjaro Trek (7 days) Justin was our main guide. He was super helpful and explained everything about the mountain, the nature, the culture. His briefings were detailed and he answered all our questions. He was always there for us and made the trek so much better. Zachariah and Naomi were also guides who helped us throughout the whole trek. They were always supporting us and keeping us going. Daniel and George were our porters, the "Kili Warriors" as they like to be called. They helped us reach the summit on the final day and supported us throughout the 7 day trek. Our chef Dastan made great meals. I never ate so well. Kelvin made coffee every morning and helped us. Mohammed made us laugh with his jokes. Thanks to all the Zanzi team!
Thank you for the great experience on the Kilimanjaro! we enjoyed the company of Zanzi’s team , Charles and his crew (porters plus cook). It was sometimes tough but you inspired and encouraged us on this road to keep going and enjoy the wonderful landscapes. thanks again for the great guidance, support and nice food. thanks on behalf of our whole family ! It was an experience and a great adventure that we will never forget! Anouk Dusee
From the moment we arrived until we completed our trek, the whole experience was exceptional. Climbing Kilimanjaro is an incredible challenge, but having such a dedicated team made it so much more enjoyable. A massive thank you to Justin and Omary for being outstanding guides. Their encouragement, professionalism and genuine care for everyone in the group never went unnoticed. They kept us motivated through every stage of the climb and always made sure we were safe, comfortable and smiling, even on the hardest days. The entire crew deserves so much credit. The porters, chefs and support staff worked unbelievably hard every single day and always welcomed us into camp with warm smiles and amazing energy. Their teamwork and kindness created an experience that was far beyond what we expected. Calvin’s wake up calls with coffee and positive energy was a particular highlight and Danny’s support in reaching the summit was amazing. Thank you to everyone for making this such a memorable journey. Reaching Uhuru Peak was an unforgettable moment, and we couldn’t have done it without your incredible support. If you’re thinking about climbing Kilimanjaro, I can’t recommend this team highly enough—they truly are the best. Asante sana! 🏔️🇹🇿
Climbing Kilimanjaro was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to get me to the summit. A huge thank you to the best guides, Justin and Omary, whose professionalism, encouragement and expertise made all the difference. They were incredibly supportive every step of the way, always checking on us, keeping our spirits high and making sure we were safe throughout the trek. Their knowledge of the mountain and genuine care gave us complete confidence. They really are the best guides!! Honestly could not have completed the seven days without them. The entire crew was absolutely amazing. Our waiter Calvin who helped us every day with the best energy, Danny for helping us reach summit and back down. The food was fantastic - huge shoutout to Chef Dustin thank you! As for the porters such as Praygood, Dominic and Peter and the rest of the team, everyone worked so hard behind the scenes to make the experience comfortable, enjoyable and unforgettable. The camps were always well prepared, and every member of the team greeted us with a smile and endless encouragement. Reaching the summit was an incredible achievement, and it’s one I’ll never forget. Thank you, Justin, Omary and the whole team, for creating such an unforgettable adventure. I would recommend this team to anyone thinking of climbing Kilimanjaro - you’ll be in the very best hands. Asante sana kaka na dada! 🇹🇿🏔️
Climbing Kilimanjaro was one of the best experiences of my life and I simply couldn’t have done it without Zanzi Trekking. They went above and beyond in all aspects and made sure we were as comfortable as possible whilst respecting our personal space. Our guides, Issack and Sagochi, were incredible. They were so friendly and easy to get along with and gave us support both when asked for and when we didn’t realise we needed it. The chef and the porters were also incredibly hardworking and friendly and we were in awe of all the weight they carried each day. Our experience started when we booked about 6 months in advance and the company sent us lots of useful resources like packing lists and available add-ons. Closer to the time we had a fair few logistical questions and Zanzi set up a WhatsApp group with a representative, which was really helpful. Through this we were able to get advice on an appropriate amount to tip the guides and porters and also book an airport transfer through them for an additional charge. On the first day, the team picked us up from our hostel in Arusha and also dropped us off after for no extra charge which was a nice touch. On the way to the mountain they also happily stopped a few times so we could buy some last minute pieces of equipment we’d forgotten. Each day one of the guides started the hike with us whilst the other organised the porters and caught us up later. The porters then overtook us so that the camp was set up ready for our arrival, which was such a luxury. The camp consisted of tents for us, a private mess tent (where we ate our meals), a toilet and the porters tent. We went for the optional ‘toilet engineer’ package which gives you a private toilet. This is a must have as the public toilets at each camp are a state. We felt in very safe hands with Issack and Sagochi. They were very knowledgeable about the mountain, the routes we were taking and the wildlife and plants on the mountain. Every evening, one of the guides would monitor our blood oxygen and brief us on the next day so that we knew what to expect. One of the porters would then wake us up on time every morning and provide us with some hot water to wash with. They would also fill up our bottles with fresh water and bring us food to the mess tent. Each day’s hike was well balanced and within our comfort zone with the exception of summit day. The guides were fun to talk to and made the day go a lot quicker when it did get tough. On summit day we simply couldn’t have made it without Issack and Sagochi. They were always positive and kept moral as high as possible. They could tell me and another member of our group were seriously suffering and were as accommodating as possible. They took our day packs for us, held things whilst we took a drink and listened to all our requests. I can’t convey enough how grateful I am for them and how amazing it was to meet them. The food on the trip was very good considering it was made on a mountain and the portion sizes were enormous. We never went hungry and enjoyed every meal even when we lost our appetite due to the altitude. Overall Zanzi Trekking is a great company and I wouldn’t have changed any of our experience. They made our dream come true and if I ever find myself in Tanzania again I’ll be reaching out.
Had a wonderful 7 day Kilimanjaro trek doing the Lemosho route with my 2 mates, run by Zanzi. We intentionally picked them as one of the more budget tours out there, but were blown away by how good everything was. Issack and Sagotchi were our two guides, they had fantastic knowledge of the mountains and were such nice guys to be around for our 7 days. A big shout out to rest of crew too, they all played a big part in getting us all to the summit. Thank you Zanzi!!
From the moment we booked to the final steps on the summit (and back down again!) our experience with Zanzi, and in particular from our guides Issack and Sagoche, was exceptional. Their clear communication, thoughtful organisation, and incredibly dedicated team made our journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro both seamless and unforgettable. With knowledgeable guides, hardworking porters, and genuine hospitality throughout, the entire trek felt safe, well-supported, and far more comfortable than we ever expected. We booked with Zanzi after finding them to be more affordable than competitors having done our due diligence shopping around. Prior to our flying to Tanzania, Zanzi retained great lines of communication through email and WhatsApp, with Honest and Restituta answering our many questions and for a fee organising airport connections and local phone sims to make our entry to the country run as smoothly as possible. Abu, their chosen driver was excellent - waiting for us at the airport despite delays and through the drive helping us get the lay of the land around where we were staying. Issack (our head guide for the trek) and Restituta met us in Arusha and helped us get checked in to our accommodation. During the trek we could not have asked for better guides in Issack and Sagoche. In writing this review I truly have truly struggled to express just what wonderful individuals they both are. In camp and on the trails they went above and beyond to make our whole group feel welcome and supported, gelling well with our cohort and checking in regularly to make sure all was well. Being an Ecologist by trade I’m admittedly a bit dorky when it comes to encountering new plants and wildlife - but both Issack and Sagoche were enthusiastic in sharing their impressive retinue of knowledge of our surroundings, spending much of our walks teaching me about the flora and fauna native to the mountain as we encountered it. Their experience and commitment to getting our group up the mountain proved invaluable on summit day, with support offered ranging from: lending tips and tricks prior to setting off (like storing your water bottles upside down and in socks, as if it freezes from the top down when upright you can no longer drink through the cap); carrying extra daypacks all the way up to Uhuru peak and back when members of our group became unwell; to most importantly humouring our demands of taking many photos and videos. Within the camp our 10 porters and chef ‘Kadevu’ worked diligently to make sure our stay on the mountain was far more comfortable than we thought possible. We felt able to approach any member of our team with our problems, and never went hungry - receiving three large meals each day. All in all we had a fantastic 7 days hiking the Lemosho route with Zanzi, and shall look back on our time spent on the mountain fondly for many years to come :)
A few specific requests I made turned out to be instrumental in my successful summit to the uhuru peak in the worlds tallest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro, and Justin executed every one of them flawlessly. First, he arranged for us to stay at Kosovo Camp, the closest base camp for summit night, which made a significant difference. He also organized dedicated porters and a private toilet, greatly enhancing comfort throughout the climb. The porters consistently arrived at camp ahead of us, had the tents and bedding set up, and welcomed us with hot tea and snacks—something I deeply appreciated after long days on the trail. Most importantly, during the hikes, Justin was attentive and patient, adjusting the pace to match my needs and ensuring proper acclimatization. His thoughtful planning, professionalism, and personal attention all came together to make the experience not only enjoyable but ultimately led to a successful and unforgettable summit of Kilimanjaro.
Booked with them a 7-day hiking expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro's Uhuru peak. Communication via email and WhatsApp was prompt and responsive. From picking us up from the hotel to guiding us through the mountain for 7 days, we always felt secure and well taken care of. George, the mountain guide, alongside his team (porters, cook, etc) was extremely experienced and patient. I highly recommend.
We completed the 8 Day Mid Range Kilimanjaro - Lemosho Route with Zanzi in Sep/Oct 2025. We were really happy with the service provided for our climb, with Issack and his team (Lazaro, Nikolaus, Gifti, Antony, Festo, Dominic, Emmanuel, Christopher, Daniel and Richard). I was travelling with 2 friends with different levels of experience, and they accomodated on each walking day to ensure we could reach the summit. They made us feel welcomed throughout the entire journey. Upon arrival at campsite each day we were greeted by the staff and porters with a smile. The food for Mid Range was good and more than enough for us. Private bathroom was nice to have to ourselves. Tents and sleeping mats were great and the team helped us with any issues we had. The teams professionalism, energy and motivation ensured that we were able to successfully summit. We had a great experience and definitely recommend doing the 8 day trek with Zanzi and Issacks team.
Highly recommend Zanzi Trekking & Safari for hiking Mount Kilimanjaro. We did the 7 Day Lemosho route with Guide Charles and Assistant Guides Nestor and Antidius, who looked after the group well and made sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. The guides adjusted the pace according to how the group was going so it was the perfect balance between efficient and manageable. Communication was also very clear, and the guides let us know the plan for the day ahead each night. Food prepared by chef Basili was also enjoyable - simple and provided the energy needed for the day ahead. On summit night, the guides carried our backpacks which we didn’t expect but was much needed and Im not sure we could have made it there otherwise. Overall - an amazing experience! Thank you Zanzi!!
We did the 7 day Lemosho route with Zanzi trekking. The team were superb throughout, led by the excellent guides Charles, Nestor and Antidius. The trip felt well organised and safe at all times, and helped us all reach the summit. The food was consistently good and the camping equipment was clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend Zanzi and this team.
The trip with Zanzi up to the summit of Kilimanjaro was absolutely incredible. The guide team of Charles, Nestor and Antidius were phenomenal in both the serious matter of looking after us on the trek and at altitude, but also filling us with positive vibes, boosting morale and throughout enjoying chatting about all matter of things and dancing to the tunes. The chef of the team was fantastic and kept us fuelled through the full week with excellent breakfasts, lunches and dinners that were tasty and different every day. The porter team were fantastic treating us like a big family and greeting us with huge smiles and fist bumps every day and looking after us brilliantly for the week. And a special shout out to the team of summit porters who joined the guide team to carry our bags, watch out for us and give us all important boosts to morale on the way to reaching the summit. All in all I would absolutely recommend Zanzi to anybody wanting to climb Kilimanjaro, and especially the team of Charles, Nestor and Antidius who were simply fantastic!!!
We went with Zanzi on a 7 day Kilimanaro hike (Lemosho route). They were excellent - supportive, helpful, and fun. Particular credit to our lead guide Charles, and guides Nestor and Antidus. Their wider group of porters were all excellent also.
We had a great time doing the 7 day Lemosho route with Zanzi! Food was amazing, the porters all really friendly and helpful. Our guides Charles, Nestor and Antidius were very knowledgeable and looked after us really well. We'd looked at quite a few companies at different price ranges before going with Zanzi, definitely worth it, from what we could see the more expensive tour operators offered a very similar experience to what we had. Can't recommend Zanzi enough, was an amazing experience!
We had an absolutely amazing experience completing the Kili climb on the Lemosho route . Our guides Jumanne and Zachariah were fun , encouraging, knowledgeable, supportive and willing to help make our journey as comfortable as possible. We were treated with great respect, the porters would go ahead of us on the trail and our tent and all our supplies were set up and waiting for us when we arrived at camp each day , the food was plentiful and delicious, the toilet tent was always clean and prepared for us, we would gladly repeat our trip with Zanzi
I booked two different activities with Zanzi Trekking & Safaris: a 7-day Kilimanjaro hike via the Lemosho route and a group safari. For Kilimanjaro, I initially thought I had joined a group tour, but on the day of departure I found out it was only me together with a team of 7 (5 porters, a cook, and a guide). In the end, this turned out fine – everyone was very kind and supportive. I received three hot meals every day plus an afternoon snack, which was really appreciated. I had all the necessary gear, including my own sleeping bag, so everything was comfortable. The only small downside was that apart from the guide and one porter, the team mostly spoke only Swahili, so communication was sometimes limited. Still, the experience was unforgettable. Many thanks to my guide George who supported me on the last very hard day of the summit. I couldn't have made it without him. The second activity was a 5-day group safari with my friend and five other travelers. The itinerary (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara) was the classic one recommended by most agencies, including Zanzi Trekking. Overall, it was a great safari – we managed to see almost all the animals we had been promised, except the rhino. Personally, I think 5 days are more than enough for a safari, I wouldn’t have managed to do more. The only disappointment was Lake Manyara: it could have been skipped, as flamingos were advertised both in the contract and pictures, but the guide told us they haven’t been there for many years. Overall, both experiences were very well organized, and I felt taken care of at all times. Zanzi Trekking is reliable and professional, and I would recommend them if you are planning either a Kilimanjaro climb or a safari in Tanzania.
My 2 friends and I had an amazing and unforgettable trip with Zanzi Trekking from the moment we booked to even after we got home. Once we booked, Denis helped us manage all of the administrative aspects of our trip. About 1 week out from our trip, Denis put us in contact Honest, the manager. Honest was very helpful and answered all of the logistical questions we had regarding transportation, rental gear, tipping and timing. The evening before our trip, Honest brought our head guide, Isack, to our hotel to check all of our gear and answer any remaining questions we had. They inspected everything we brought and we were so grateful as this eased a lot of our anxieties! On the trek itself we had an absolute blast! Isack, our head guide, and Jumanne, our assistant guide, were kind, knowledgeable, and funny! They taught us about the nature around us and the history of the Kilimanjaro region, they helped us learn some Swahili phrases and were patient with us as we stumbled through, and they even sang and rapped with us while we hiked. We had so much fun despite the rigour of the hiking!! Our crew was outstanding and we were so impressed with them! Their hard work provided us with everything we could possible need and more. Menas, our chef, made us 3 delicious, hot meals a day. Shedracki, our waiter/porter/friend, made sure we ate enough and gave us warm water bowls morning and night for washing. When we would get to camp at the end of the day, the rest of the crew would take our daypacks, brush the dust off of our legs, and lead us to our fully set up tents with our bags inside. This felt like the camping equivalent to a 5 star hotel and we didn’t even do the luxury option!! Summit night was incredibly difficult, as expected, but we wouldn’t have been able to do it without Isack, Jumanne, and Shedracki (one of our porters came along to ensure one person per trekker in case of emergencies). They made us feel so safe and supported. They paced us well, checked in on us often, offered to carry our packs when we got light headed, and shared encouraging words throughout. Though this was no different from how they had been the whole trek, in such a vulnerable state, things like that stand out and we are grateful to them for it! By the end of the trek, we were very sad to leave. Spending 7 days with people makes you very close! We are forever grateful for this once in a life time experience that Zanzi trekking provided for us and we are already missing Isack, Jumanne, and our crew!
It was a nice experience, really good service and all the crew was above the expectation. Thanks to guide Charles and Freddy and the portes Faraj, Oti, Steve, Resiki, Ayubu, Innocent and the chef Nicholas.
Incredible views, the most challenging but rewarding summit I’ve done. Zanzi Trekking and George the guide looked after me very well and enabled me to complete a major bucket list item! Very professional and friendly experience.
Achieved our lifelong goal of reaching the roof of Africa!, thanks to George and Zanzi Trekking and Safaris. We looked at many tour companies and so glad we chose Zanzi, the right team makes all the difference! Choose them and ask for George, you won’t be disappointed!
An incredible trip thanks to an incredible team lead by Justin. As the only person in this tour, the group were very flexible with pace and location. We finished the entire trip within 6 days, and reached the peak at the perfect time for sunrise. The views were well worth the pain, and I couldn’t have done it without the team’s support. Everyone was compassionate and spent the down time teaching me Swahili and answering any questions I had :))
Best hiking experience ever! Our guide Charles has been amazing, giving all kinds of useful information, making sure I have everything I need and well prepared for all kinds of situations. He’s pretty encouraging as well, constantly giving me momentum and keeping a really good pace. We also have a nice team with our chef Nicolas, and porters Peter, Julius, Dominic and Riziki, super grateful for all the efforts they’ve put in. Anyway, this has been the most amazing experience ever, I’ll definitely consider taking my family and friends with me next time. Thank u guys.
Lemosho 7D booked. We did it in 6 Days. Overall great experience with some issues along the way. Still good! Team was very friendly.
TLDR: you don’t need to look further for a guided experience up Kilimanjaro. The entire team is amazing and it was one of the best experiences we had during our 3 months trip in Africa. We’re a couple and booked with Honest for a 7 day Lemosho route up Kili. Our team included: -Guides: Kevin and Mathew -Chef: Dastan -Porters: Dula, Mzungu, Pius, Shedrack, Kibori, and Kelvin The food was amazing and it helped since we needed all of the calories. We probably have gained weight on the trip. Everyone made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed the whole way up. The team was super flexible when we asked if we could do the trip in 6 days instead. When we summited, I was super cold and Kevin offered me his jacket off his back, like…I have no words to describe what an incredible act that is and I’m super grateful. Go with these guys, they’ll take wonderful care of you.
I liked it, they are experts in the chosen route of lemosho, good tips to reach the summit, close-knit equipment and rich food
