We thought we were going to have a lifetime experience during our first visit to Africa and our first safari but this experience went much beyond. Excellent organisation from the Suricata team - that supported us since the first day as our luggage got stuck in Kenya. After a turbulence arrival, they provided us all their attention and on the next day we woke up with our luggage picked up and delivered to the hotel. After that, all was perfect. The lodges, the game drives, the relationship within the car was top notch. Anton is genuinely a great human being and very kind, always with a smile in his face although sometimes we faced some hiccups proper from an adventure in the nature, surrounded with beautiful animals from the big 5 to the least loved, yet as amazing animals like hyenas, pumbas, serval cats, giraffes, etc. Even the group that the Suricatas organized in our car was simply the best possible. Last, on the last day we did a safari in Lake Manyara with an open jeep with Robert and, again, what an amazing human being. These kind of experiences reminds us that the world is made of beautiful people and this is how we are able to create unforgettable experiences. A special thanks also to the entire team, that organized everything perfectly and were working hard in the background to make the whole experience as good as possible. From the supply cars, the drivers that are constantly supporting each other when needed, to the crews from the lodges. Suricatas is a must and will be our recommendation to everyone.

Itinerary
Day 1
1
On the first day, you’ll depart from Arusha after breakfast and head to Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of about two hours. Upon arrival, you'll embark on an exciting game drive, exploring the park’s vast landscapes filled with ancient baobab trees and spotting herds of elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the wildlife before continuing your safari adventure in the afternoon. As the day comes to a close, you'll head to your lodge, where you'll relax and enjoy the sounds of the African bush under the stars.
Day 2
2
On your second day, get ready to explore the lush landscapes of Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its incredible biodiversity, the park offers a unique combination of dense forest, open woodlands, and the shimmering soda lake that attracts thousands of flamingos. The day begins with an early morning game drive as the park awakens. Spot herds of elephants, giraffes gracefully roaming, and perhaps even the elusive tree-climbing lions that Lake Manyara is famous for. As you venture deeper into the park, you’ll encounter baboons, zebra, and a variety of bird species—perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike. By midday, enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of the lake. In the afternoon, continue your game drive to witness more of the park’s diverse ecosystems. Whether you’re navigating through the forest or by the lake's edge, the park’s beauty will captivate you. As the day winds down, you’ll head back to your lodge.
Day 3
3
Today, we embark on a scenic drive to one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations—the Serengeti National Park. After breakfast, we'll head out from Lake Manyara, with the Great Rift Valley landscape unfolding around us as we travel. The road offers stunning vistas, and along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife sightings—herds of wildebeest, giraffes, and maybe even a few curious gazelles. As we approach the Serengeti, the landscape transitions into the vast, endless plains that the park is known for. The Serengeti’s expansive savannah is a living theater of nature, where the cycle of life unfolds before your eyes. Upon arrival, we’ll begin a game drive, diving into the heart of the Serengeti to spot the park's famous wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and more. After a day of wildlife watching and marveling at the endless horizon, you’ll settle into your accommodation within the Serengeti, ready to rest for another exciting day of exploration ahead.
Day 4
4
Begin the day with a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, where the early hours offer excellent chances to spot predators on the move and other wildlife in action. After soaking in the last views of the Serengeti’s vast plains, enjoy a leisurely lunch before heading toward the Karatu Area. Arrive at your lodge in Karatu in the evening, ready to explore the stunning crater the next day.
Day 5
5
On the fifth day, you’ll wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast, embark on a guided tour into the crater, one of the world’s most unique wildlife havens, where you'll have the opportunity to see a wide variety of animals, including the Big Five in their natural habitat. Spend the day exploring the crater's diverse ecosystems, from lush forests to open grasslands, while enjoying a hot picnic lunch amidst stunning scenery. In the afternoon, you'll begin your journey back to Arusha, filled with unforgettable memories of your safari adventure.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Our five days with Suricata were absolutely incredible, from start to finish. Everything was perfectly organised, from the planning and communication to all the little details throughout the safari. The whole team made us feel so welcome and looked after us every step of the way. A special mention goes to our guide, Adam, who was simply amazing. His knowledge, passion and dedication made the experience even more special. Thanks to him, we were lucky enough to see all of the Big Five! We couldn’t have wished for a better guide. We are leaving Tanzania with huge smiles, unforgettable memories and full hearts. Choosing Suricata was one of the best decisions we made for this trip, and we would do it all over again without a second thought. A massive thank you to the entire Suricata family for making this once-in-a-lifetime adventure so special. You truly deserve all the recognition and praise. We couldn’t recommend Suricata enough. If you’re planning a safari in Tanzania, look no further!
We had an amazing safari with our guide Jordan. Everything was perfect, the organisation around the Safari with picking up worked very well. The accommodations were outstanding and our guide was just perfect. We had such a good time and so much fun with him and he did an amazing job. At the end we could see every animal and everything we wanted to see, there was absolutely nothing missing. We can only recommend 100%
A really good safari, managed to see lots of animals. Jordan was a great guide.
Jordan was the best guide! We saw so many incredible animals… everything was perfect organized!
We had an absolutely incredible and unforgettable group safari through Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. The entire experience exceeded our expectations and was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Tanzania! A huge part of making this experience so special was our amazing guide, Gordon. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts about the animals, nature and the different national parks with us. We had what felt like a million questions throughout the safari, and he always took the time to answer every single one of them. You could really tell how experienced and passionate he is about his job. We also felt completely safe and comfortable with him at all times. We were incredibly lucky with the wildlife and saw so many animals – even more than we had ever expected. We saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, countless antelopes and many other animals, as well as lots of lions. We were especially excited to see some of the rarer and more elusive animals, including leopards, cheetahs and even a rhinoceros. We also managed to see all of the Big Five, some of them more than once! Every day brought new encounters and special moments, and we were constantly amazed by how close we could experience the wildlife. Everything throughout the safari was very well planned and organized. From the different national parks and game drives to the accommodations and the overall schedule, everything went smoothly and we could simply relax and enjoy every moment. This safari gave us so many wonderful memories that we will never forget. Experiencing the Serengeti and all these incredible animals in their natural habitat was truly something special, especially seeing such rare animals as leopards, cheetahs and rhinoceroses. A huge thank you to Gordon and the whole team for making our safari such an amazing experience. We would absolutely recommend this safari to anyone visiting Tanzania and would do it all over again!
everything is good, can see big five, highly recommend guide, Melita.
Absolutely DO NOT book with Suricata. The gist: Itinerary changed last minute, despite us booking 7 months in advance. Our car crashed on day one, and management did NOT contact us until we reached out to management directly. We were left stranded at the Serengeti gate for 2 hours after. We had to call multiple Suricata numbers to try to get a hold of someone to help us. First, despite having booked 7 months in advance for the 5 day mid range safari, the company changed our itinerary last minute letting us know the evening before. We were given different explanations by different people, but ultimately we believe it was due to overbooking and not enough rooms at our planned lodging, Suricata Boma Lodge. We believe this because another tour group from Suricata went on the planned itinerary (booking only weeks before), and had to share a room with a stranger they met on the tour because lodging was full. Going back to the accident. On day 1, we felt our tour guide was driving recklessly, around 80+ km/hr on a very bumpy road in Ngorongoro Crater. He lost control, we veered off the road, and ultimately the car flipped on the side. Our guide had another driver from another company drive us 2 hours to Serengeti, which is where we were supposed to go to (on day 1) for the game drive after the itinerary change. He stayed behind with the car and was hesitant to give us his phone number. Upon arrival to the Serengeti gate, the other driver dropped us off, and said he wouldn't wait for us to figure out what the plan with Suricata was. We started calling any Suricata number we had, but we could not get in contact with anyone from Suricata, including our initial guide. It's important to mention that the company did NOT contact any of us at all, not during the 2 hour drive to Serengeti after the accident. We called multiple different numbers, none of whom were very responsive. We had to ask another Suricata tour group driver who drove by the Serengeti gate to help us contact management, and it was at that point they said they were going to send someone to pick us up. We waited an additional 2 hours at Serengeti gate entrance to be picked up and dropped off at Tanzania bush camp. This happened to be the wrong location because our names weren't listed and so we had to share a tent with another couple on our tour group we just met. The days that followed were better, but multiple things came up that were frustrating. 1- We all felt SO unsafe being on the roads again after, and not all cars Suricata provided had working seatbelts!! 2- We changed guides almost every day, but WE had to ask management every day to figure out what the plan was and who our guide was. They NEVER reached out first. 3- Each game drive was probably only 3 hours long. 4- On our drive to Arusha, the Suricata driver pulled us to the side of the road and asked us to stop at the community center so he could get commission. It felt like he was pressuring us. 5- We finally met with one of the managers of Suricata at the end of the 5 day trip. He ultimately agreed to only give us 20% refund because it was 1 day refund. Honestly that felt like it was bare minimum. The safari themselves were good, but of course this experience itself is amazing. But you don't need Suricata to give you this experience, so I urge you, if you are reading this, DO NOT BOOK WITH SURICATA! They are a large company here in Tanzania, but their customer service, management, and communication is AWFUL. You will feel better cared for with another company.
I just finished an amazing 5-day safari with Suricata Safaris, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From Tarangire to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, every day brought incredible moments. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, along with cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, flamingos and so many other animals. The landscapes were breathtaking, and the whole experience exceeded my expectations. A special thank you to our guide, Gerald, who truly made this safari unforgettable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, friendly and always happy to answer our questions. His passion for wildlife really shone through, and he made sure we enjoyed every moment. I was also really impressed by his driving skills, especially on some of the challenging roads we encountered! Everything was well organised, the accommodations were lovely, and the whole team made us feel welcome. A big thank you to Gerald, Jackson and the entire Suricata Safaris team! These five days will definitely remain one of my favourite travel memories. I couldn’t recommend them more highly!
The safari was amazing. Pascal is a good driver and a good founder of animals! Happy to life this experience with him!
The entire mid-range safari experience is much more than just spending hours searching for wildlife. The trip is impacted by travel between locations, lodging, meals, communication, and daily planning. The following information will help a group of five traveling to the Serengeti with Suricata Safaris write an honest review. Describe Jeremy's guidance using a particular example from the trip. The group's actual experience should be reflected in comments regarding comfort and service. In this manner, readers receive useful information in addition to the highlights of the wildlife.
Our guide Golden was incredible. He knew all the answers to every question we had. Golden was funny, knew exactly where to take us, and was a safe driver (That matters). Nearly a decade of his experience made seeing the Big 5 an easy goal. I can’t speak high enough of his expertise. To Golden, thank you very much! (Asante Sana)
A good safari is more than just what you see; the guide can have a significant impact. We had the good fortune to have Jeremy spend five days with our six-person group. He was well-informed, patient, and had a great deal of jeep experience. Elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, and a leopard were among the incredible wildlife encounters we had in the stunning Tarangire and Serengeti. The combination of nature, wildlife, pleasant company, and comfortable drives made this trip with Suricata Safaris truly memorable.
The experience was incredible from the start to the end. Thanks to our amazing guide (Golden) who showed us the way to the Big 5 of Africa and became one more of the group.
I liked everything, since people who attend us, to the lodges and mainly the experienced drivers!
An excellent operator. Good communication friendly good arregement 5/5 Communication and service excellent .We get what we ask for and more The tour was amazing .We have seen all the big five and many more animals.Especially our driver and guide Felix makes our expericience unforgettable .He tells many facts about the animals, the parcs .We could ask everything He took care of us any moment of the day .The food was good .And he drives very good .We felt very safe with himHe started as our Guide but now we can say We have found a new friend .We will for sure recommend you with our family and friends in The Netherlands
An unforgettable experience with a great agency that takes care of everything and helps coordinate your needs—like the hot air balloon ride I went on. Plus, we had an excellent guide, Jordan. Highly recommended.
The highlight of our family vacation was waking up at dawn to the sounds of nature surrounding our tented lodge. Suricata Safaris delivered a perfect balance of wilderness and safety. Jeremy’s eye for wildlife is unmatched; while other vehicles kept driving past, he stopped and pointed out a mother cheetah and her cubs resting in the shade. The evening campfires where we sat together as a family recapping the day’s sightings made us feel so connected. Everything promised in the mid-range package was delivered with genuine Tanzanian hospitality.
We booked a 5-day safari covering Tarangire, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. We saw many animals up close. We managed to spot the "Big Five," including the elusive leopard. The staff's service was outstanding. Pascal, our guide, was always focused on ensuring we enjoyed ourselves; he actively searched for animals and taught us about them. He explains things with passion and expertise, and we learned a lot from him. I appreciate how he constantly strove to show us as many animals as possible and patiently answered the endless questions we asked. I also want to highlight Lucas, who ensured we were as comfortable as possible at the camp every day. He is a fantastic chef, every meal was hearty and delicious. I recommend spending at least two nights in the Serengeti to truly enjoy this vast park, as the drives between camps can be long. Also, if you choose to visit Tarangire, make sure it is the first stop on your itinerary. I am incredibly grateful to Suricata! A note on what to avoid: I do not recommend the Maasai village visit. Fortunately, our group skipped it after hearing unpleasant accounts from others who had gone; they told us the Maasai were only interested in asking for money and selling handicrafts at exorbitant prices. Regarding the Jevas Hotel, where we stayed for two nights: the breakfast was very basic. One afternoon at the restaurant, we ordered coffee, and—after paying for it—we had to prepare it ourselves (yes, they simply gave us a thermos of hot water and a packet of instant coffee). It is a shame that the hotel falls short of expectations, as it reflects poorly on the service provided by Suricata.
From start to finish, this was an amazing trip and an amazing experience. Adam, our safari tour guide and driver, was the best and an absolute true professional. He was kind, really friendly, very knowledgeable of the area and each place we viewed animals, and an all around true professional—I would trust and highly recommend him to friends and family who hope to take the same tour. Over five days we toured many places and drove for hours and my friends and I enjoyed each moment. Whether on the roads to and from each day to being out in the Serengeti, we felt completely safe throughout and enjoyed the time with each other and getting to know our guide. We laughed and learned and walked away with wonderful memories. He made this a truly remarkable and memorable experience for our group and we could not thank him enough. I highly recommend.
From pick up to drop off, the experience was fantastic. Our driver, Efre was so kind and brought is to the African Art Experience on our way to the hotel. The hotel accommodations were fantastic. Beautiful, spacious rooms and delicious food! Then we were picked up by Adam who was such an amazing tour guide!! He was so personable, knowledgeable and funny. We truly enjoyed the rides in between the parks. Each park brought a different perspective and environment to which we were able to see the big 5 animals and so many more! We spent the perfect amount of time being able to capture axing photos and immerse ourselves in true nature! On to the food. Hot lunches in the middle of the Serengeti!? You bet! Every lunch was delicious! With all the foods, we definitely had ample rest breaks and time to stretch our legs, as well! The accommodations allowed us to experience resort life, tent life and in between. This was a dream of mine and Adam and Suricate made it come true, being what I imagined! Thank you so much for making my dream come true!
Great communication with Suricata safaries. We had a great guide at the first day but Frank the next 3 days was really amazing, trying hard to show us all the animals. We really saw them all! (Except the black rhino)
An unforgettable experience with our guide, Luta. He is such a kind, caring, and always available person. I learned so much from him throughout this safari. They often say that the guide is one of the keys to a successful safari. Thank you, Luta, for being that person and for helping make this experience so truly memorable
I was an amazing safari tour, very well organized. I was better than my expectation! Great thanks to our guide, Luta! Thanks to him, we saw the big five! 🦁 and more 🙏🏼
Thanks to our guide Luta! He gave us a lot informations during the safari and we saw the big 5!
It was a fantastic trip. It exceeded all expectations regarding accommodation, transportation, and the service provided by the staff. Our guide, Isack, made all the difference; he was extremely attentive and caring toward the group the entire time. He was absolutely outstanding.
We had six wonderful days with Suricata Safari in Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, Ngorogoro, and Lake Manyara. We especially highly recommend our driver, Anton, who took excellent care of us during the safari and gave us unforgettable memories. Anton has eagle eyes and spotted countless animals from far away that other jeeps often didn’t even see. We felt very well taken care of by Anton. He also gave us a lot of information about the parks and the behavior of the wildlife, and he was able to answer all of our questions. As a result, we saw all of the Big 5 and, above all, countless lions. We had booked the mid-range package and stayed exclusively at great lodges with good food (buffet). All in all, it was excellent and definitely worth recommending.
We have just returned from the most amazing safari experience with Suricata Safaris! From our very first enquiry to the organisation of the lodges, every pick-up and the safari itself - everything was handled smoothly and professionally. A special shout-out to our wonderful driver Anton who made our experience unforgettable. He was very patient and attentive to all our wishes and made every effort to help us spot as many animals as possible. We were lucky enough to see all of the animals we had hoped for - from the Big Five to vultures, meerkats, a jackal and many more! We felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the safari. Clear recommendation for Suricata Safaris!
It was amazing and Frank our guide was incredible all 5 days. Thanks to him we got to see big 5💕
Fantastic experience overall! Our guide Frank was the best! Would highly recommend this trip!
Taking our two kids on a 5-day safari was a bit daunting at first, but Suricata Safaris exceeded all our expectations. Jeremy was so thoughtful with our children—he constantly checked if they were comfortable and answered all their endless questions about giraffes and lions with so much patience. The midrange lodges provided spacious family rooms, clean beds, and child-friendly meal options. The pop-top Land Cruiser was safe, spacious, and kept our gear organized. A perfect family holiday in Tanzania!
Super happy we picked the 5 day mid-range option. Having actual lodge beds instead of sleeping bags made a huge difference for our energy levels. Jeremy was our guide—guy has insane eyes for finding wildlife hidden in the trees, specially giraffes right by the road. Food at the stays was tasty too. Suricata Safaris handled all the gate tickets smoothly.
The highlight of our 5 days in Tanzania was definitely afternoon game drives with Jeremy. On day 3, he managed to spot a pair of giraffes right next to a giant acacia tree just as the sun was setting—looks like something out of a documentary! Suricata Safaris had all the logistics handled nicely, from lodge bookings to park passes. Really glad we went with this team.
We had an amazing safari experience with Suricata Safari, and everything went exactly as planned. Our guide, Melita, was absolutely perfect. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and always attentive to our needs. He did an excellent job spotting animals and sharing interesting information about the wildlife and the parks. His dedication and passion made the experience even more special. Everything was very well organized, from the transportation to the game drives and accommodation. We felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire trip. The only suggestion I would make is to offer more variety of food for lunch and dinner, especially more options besides chicken. Overall, I highly recommend Suricata Safari, and especially Melita, for an unforgettable safari experience in Tanzania!
An absolutely unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience! We visited Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire, seeing an incredible variety of animals in their natural habitat. The accommodations were wonderful, everything was very well organised, and everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. A special thank you to our guide Golden, who was exceptional — incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about wildlife. We even had two fascinating “lessons” with him about different animal species, which made the experience even more memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better safari. Highly recommended!
We had an absolutely amazing safari experience in Tanzania and would highly recommend it! It was actually a 6 days group safari. Our guide and driver Golden made the trip unforgettable. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive throughout the entire safari. He worked incredibly hard to make sure we could see as many animals as possible and always took the time to explain interesting facts about the wildlife, nature and the local area. Thanks to his experience and excellent driving skills, we were able to see an amazing variety of animals, including some unforgettable encounters that we will remember for a long time. The accommodations were great, comfortable and clean, and the food was surprisingly good throughout the trip. Everything was well organized and we felt well taken care of from start to finish. Overall, it was an incredible experience, and Golden deserves special praise for his dedication, knowledge and genuine effort to make our safari as memorable as possible. We would definitely choose this safari again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Tanzania!
We had an amazing safari experience with Suricata Safaris! Everything was very well organized, and we felt comfortable throughout the whole trip. We had an absolutely amazing experience during our 5-day safari in Tanzania! 🦁🐘🦒 A very special mention to Simón, our guide, who was excellent from beginning to end. Amazing experience, everything was perfect. Adam was fantastic and made it possible for us to have an unforgettable experience. He took care of everything, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. He was truly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the animals we encountered along the way.
Our 5-day safari with Suricata was absolutely amazing! It was my first safari experience, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better adventure. We visited Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro, and every single day was incredible. A huge part of what made the experience so special was our guide, Luther. He was simply the best! He was very patient, kind, knowledgeable, and always made us feel comfortable. He also has a great sense of humor and is such a fun guy to spend time with! Luther made sure we got to see as much as possible and showed us an incredible variety of wildlife. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, and so many other amazing animals. One of the most unforgettable moments was watching a cheetah hunting a gazelle — something I will never forget! And the lions were EVERYWHERE! We saw them on top of trees, underneath trees, and even on the mountains. The Rhinos were also so beautiful and exciting to see, we saw them really up close! It felt like every turn brought another incredible sight. This safari exceeded all my expectations. The landscapes, wildlife, and overall experience were absolutely breathtaking, and having such a fantastic guide made it even better. The organization before the trip was also excellent. I had quite a few questions and doubts while preparing for the safari, and whenever I emailed the tour operator, Richard always replied immediately with all the information or help I needed. Everything was well organized and gave us a lot of confidence before the trip even started. Thank you, Suricata, and especially Luther, for giving us the adventure of a lifetime! If you’re thinking about going on safari in Tanzania, I highly recommend Luther and Suricata. Best tour ever!!!
An Unforgettable 5-Day Safari in Tanzania – Simply Perfect! We had an absolutely incredible 5-day safari through Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the very beginning to the end, everything was perfectly organized. We were lucky enough to see all of the Big Five in their natural habitat, along with countless other incredible animals and breathtaking landscapes. What made the experience even more special was the strong respect for nature and wildlife throughout the entire safari. We never felt that the animals were being disturbed, and the experience was always about observing and appreciating them in their natural environment. A special mention absolutely goes to Luther, our guide. He was simply outstanding. Professional, extremely knowledgeable and always attentive to every detail, Luther made the whole experience truly unforgettable. His knowledge of the territory, wildlife and animal behaviour was incredibly deep, and he seemed to know exactly where to go and when to wait for the perfect sighting. He also shared fascinating information about the ecosystem, the animals and the local environment, making every game drive both exciting and educational. Beyond his professionalism, we really appreciated his genuine respect for nature and wildlife. It was clear that for him, a safari is not just about ticking animals off a list, but about experiencing and protecting this extraordinary ecosystem. The landscapes of the Serengeti, the wildlife of Ngorongoro and the incredible scenery of Tarangire created memories that we will carry with us forever. If you are planning a safari in Tanzania, we highly recommend this experience — and especially Luther as your guide. His passion, expertise, professionalism and respect for nature made our safari truly exceptional. Five days, all the Big Five, incredible landscapes and an amazing guide — an experience we will never forget. Absolutely 5 stars!
Amazing experience. Our guide Izack was exceptional. He stopped at the right places and was super patient to ensure nature got a chance to wow us. He was also super knowledgeable which made it totally awesome.
We had 2 guides for different parts of our tour, our first guide Robert who took us through Lake Menyara & Tarangire was absolutely amazing, very calm, very patient & got us so close to all the animals we wanted to see & didn’t push us to move on. Our second guide Steve was great as getting us around the Serengeti & Ngorongoro parks and ticking off the big 5. The accomodation was very comfy & clean, the highlight was camping at the Serengeti Bush Camp, even if it was slightly scary hearing the lions in the middle of the night!
One in a lifetime trip, we have seen everything we dreamed of and more! Everything was perfect. Adam was so nice and explained us everything. Food was delicious.
Pros: - Our driver, Elias, was very good at his job and did his best to have a memorable experience. - Thanks to Elias, we saw a lot of animals, from a close distance and he provided many interesting information. Cons: - The communicated hotel list was not followed twice. The hotels played a major role when selecting the safari, so we were disappointed ending up in different places. - When we asked the reason for not taking us to the correct hotel, an excuse was provided related to governmental issues, which we later found out it wasn't true, since another member of our safari was taken to this hotel. An employee of Suricata also confirmed it was a lie. We also found out, that other participants were lied to, with different excuses and on different topics. - The other car of the safari had soft drinks and beers available during the safari, but we didn't. Also the last day we used another safari company, which also provided drinks. - Mostly the lunch was chicken, which I love, but it was usually so overcooked and dry that one day I couldn't even eat it.
Rasta and Mbipa were great. Rasta knew his stuff and where to go and was pleasant and helpful. They both helped me learn Swahili and were patient with me about that. We saw all the animals I hoped for and more. The bad: There were multiple issues regarding confusion with our reservations. Be very proactive about confirming everything before the safari and then doublechecking as you go once you are actually on safari.
Our guide, Rasta Man, and chef, Mbipa, were excellent and were the highlight of the trip. Our guide was knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and a very safe driver. He clearly knew the parks exceptionally well, communicated with other guides throughout the day, and consistently found incredible wildlife. We saw an amazing variety of animals because of his experience and effort. The food was also very good. We had hot lunches each day, generous portions, and a good variety of meals. Mbipa was friendly, hospitable, and always made sure everyone was well looked after. Overall, the Suricata staff were pleasant and welcoming, and the mid-range accommodations were clean, comfortable, and in good locations. Unfortunately, the organization and communication were major weaknesses throughout the experience. It seemed like almost everyone’s itinerary changed at least once, sometimes after the tour had already begun. There was often confusion about the daily schedule, and some travellers had changes made to their itineraries without being informed in advance. We also had to repeatedly follow up for basic information regarding pickups, drop-offs, accommodations, guides, and schedules because there was never a clear point of contact. The most disappointing issue was that, on two separate nights, we had to share our room with another traveller because the company had overbooked. While the staff did their best to resolve the situation, this should not happen on a tour that has been booked and paid for in advance. In addition, some seatbelts in our safari vehicle were either missing or not functioning properly, which is a safety issue that should be addressed. Overall, we had a fantastic safari thanks to our guide, chef, the wildlife, and the accommodations. However, Suricata’s lack of organization, poor communication, and apparent overbooking practices took away from what otherwise would have been an exceptional experience.
Izack was an exceptional tour guide. You could tell he genuinely loves and cares for the animals, and he made sure every single one of us had an incredible experience. He is professional, kind, and a genuinely good-hearted person who always made sure we were safe, comfortable, and having a great time. Lucas prepared fantastic lunches every day, which were always delicious and a highlight of the trip. As a solo traveler, I was part of a mixed group of lodge guests and campers, and I felt completely welcomed. I absolutely loved staying in the Serengeti bush camp tents, they made the experience feel even more authentic and unforgettable. I will definitely come back again with Izack as my guide through Suricata. He made this trip truly unforgettable, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an amazing adventure.
This trip worth every second and cent!!!
Surikata Safaris really has it together. Everything was taken care of from airport pickup, hotels and lodges, meals. Everything! From the time I walked out of the airport, I was greeted warmly and driven to a hotel that they booked for me. The Safari itself was incredible, and in huge part, due to a really great guide who really knows what he’s doing. Charles is kind, patient, very knowledgeable, and found us over 40 lions and every other animal you could think of. He got us up close too! We saw the big 10 in abundance and so many more. I highly recommend Surikata and Charles as your guide. I’m not sure if they accommodate guide requests, but I would for sure ask for Charles. I also recommend you book through Surikata directly, they are very responsive and accommodating.
