Our experience with Meru Slopes was flawless, Gift Tembo arranged everything perfectly for us and our guide Andrew was the best! We took a 5 days private safari with lodges and one tented camp. A special mention to the Sightseeing luxury lodge and its super friendly and helpful staff! We definitely advice choosing Meru Slopes.

A truly fantastic experience with meru slopes from start to finish. From the moment we arrived in arusha airport until the end of our trip on return to arusha we had a fantastic time on a 5 day safari 2 days camping and 2 days in fanaka lodge. Our guide and chef samweli and salimu made our experience just perfect. Our food throughout the whole trip was beautiful and our game drive days where perfectly planned with lots and lots of sightings. They looked after us so well. My partner was unwell for a couple of days and they where both very helpful and caring. I would highly recommend an experience with meru slopes, a great experience all round.
Planning was fabulous with Gift. He answered my questions by either direct telephone or message, he was very prompt even with issues of time differences. Our safari leader, Douglas, was a very experienced safari host. He knew about the animals of course, but also answered all of our questions in spite of the fact that we probably asked the questions previously! He took extra time with some of our favorite animals because they were so mesmerizing. We had a wonderful time gazing at a huge group of hippos in the river! Almost mad us late for dinner.. but we learned, “no worries “… Douglas was very patient with us. Douglas kept close track with his colleagues so we could hit the high spots, one of which was a “discussion “ between a hyena who stole a cheetah’s wildebeast prize. Douglas took the time for us to see the whole event, growling, etc ! Very cool ! Douglas is a gem with 18 years of experience….i would go with him on my next safari ! We “clamped” two nights which was an extra fun adventure and our hotels were amazing !Comfortable beds, always fresh water and the staff could not help us more.
Great people. Wonderful guides. Amazing experience! Our family of 5 couldn’t be more happy with Meru Slopes! We spent Christmas and New Years on safari and it didn’t disappoint. From Colorado, USA in December 2025.
We had the most incredible 5 days on safari with meru slopes. Everything was well organised from the beginning, with exceptional communication via Kelvin. Whilst the incredible scenery and beautiful animals were the main attraction of the Safari, it would have not been anywhere near as special without our tour guide Rashid. His knowledge and expertise of the parks meant we were able to make the absolute most of the beautiful nature, and his fun spirit made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We were cooked 3 delicious meals a day by our chef Salim, with a hot lunch and catering tailored to dietary needs and preferences. Everything about our safari was spot on, and a week to remember for a lifetime!
5 days beyond our expectations with Bariki, who turned out to be an amazing guide. He was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready with answers to all our questions, whether about the animals or life in Tanzania. He took us up close to leopards, cheetahs, lions, and many more. We highly recommend Meru Slopes, and especially our guide Bariki, to anyone. The lodges were overall really great, especially the Friends Camp in Serengeti. The lunches were also very satisfying and well-rounded. Thank you!
Trusting a tour company with your safety and desires is a major decision, and Meru Slopes did not disappoint. Our guide, Alan, was masterful on each game drive, handling the jeep expertly and ensuring close contact with the animals and birds, as well as being a fine companion and friend. We’ve had a life altering experience and will be forever grateful!! Thank you, Meru Slopes.
We were with Meru Slopes for a 5-day safari. We saw it all. Our guide, Santa Eli, was absolutely amazing. Answered all our stupid questions and took care of the kids. We will miss him!
Absolutely perfect safari tour provided by Meru Slopes. Everything was well organised for us and on time. The jeep was well maintained and our safari guide Omal was incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, the man can spot a leopards tail in a tree at 75 metres with his bare eyes and then tell you everything you want to know about any animal you see, unmissable experience thanks to Meru Slopes
I did the 5 Days Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge Tour. It was truly an incredible experience made even better by our tour guide Mtina. He took the time to explain everything we saw and never rushed us during the game drive. He was punctual and drove safely even in the dark and rocky conditions. Mtina is well experienced and knew all the best viewpoints, and the best places to see the big 5; exceptational spotting skills! Great attention to detail and making everyone on the tour feel comfortable and safe throughout the tour. The masai village experience was a highlight and was an extra activity organised by Mtina. Thank you to the chefs for the delicious meals. Meru slopes did a wonderful job coordinating my accommodations beyond my expectations. As solo female traveller I felt extremely safe at every location due to the extra security measures in place and would highly recommend meru slopes for other solo travellers. Thank you to Kelvin Bonith for organising everything so seamlessly and being easy to communicate with from day one.
Amazing tour agency for safari and can fully recommend booking them. We booked a safari 5 days 4 nights with Tarangire, Serengeti Park and Ngorongoro Crater. The communication upfront with Kelvin to clarify everything was easy, fast and informative. Our tourguide Asantaeli was really experienced and we managed to see the big 5. We were sometimes wondering how his eyes can be that sharp! Meru Slopes provided really a full service with Airport transportation, sim cards at arrival with 4gb for each and even gave us a room to spare time until our flight was leaving. That was all included in our tour price. Our hotels, camps and meals were all good. Would go again with them!
Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris has great guides, and accommodating, flexible office staff. I did a small group tour to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Maynara, with an additional couple days solo to Materuni Waterfalls/Coffee Plantation and a hike to Cathedral Point on Mt Kilimanjaro. Meru had a driver waiting for me when I arrived at JRO, and arranged for my hotel the night before the safari began. We spent 1 day in Tarangire, 3 in the Serengeti, 1/2 day in the Crater and 1/2 in Lake Maynara. Our safari guide, Robert, was very knowledgeable and friendly. After the rest of the group finished their tour, I had 2 days left in Arusha and I was given several day trip options. I spent 1 day going to the Materuni Falls and Coffee Plantation with Fidelis as my guide, and that day I decided I would like to do a day hike on Mt Kilimanjaro the next day. Fidelis called the office to see what could be arranged, and Meru was able to find a guide for my last minute hike request by the end of the day. Oscar was my guide for the hike the next day. Fidelis and Oscar were also friendly and great guides. In addition to the last minute hike, partway through the safari I requested that, if possible, my accommodations be changed (due to a communications error on my part, the initial accommodations were a bit lower budget than I preferred), and after a couple phone calls between Robert and the Kelvin, in the office, the change was made. Meru made everything easy. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the safari, and Meru Slopes was a very easy company to work with! I highly recommend them!
The 5-Day Safari was a great experience. From the beginning we felt well taken care of and the communication with Meru Slopes was good. They organized everything really well! The driver Andrew and chef Moshi were with us during the experience and it was lovely to enjoy freshly cooked meals during the trip. We were able to see the big 5, lots of other animals and the driver was awesome at helping us to spot them! Thank you to the whole team for making this experience truly unforgettable!
We booked the tour in October, and the communication was smooth and prompt. The organizer arranged a transfer from Arusha Airport and a night's stay in Arusha, both of which went seamlessly. The entire coordination was overseen by Manager Almatchius, providing a reliable point of contact for organizational queries. The 5-day safari across Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater was a truly unique experience. Our guide, Florian, proved to be experienced, professional, and adept at answering all our questions. The camps were distinctive, and with a chef accompanying us throughout, we enjoyed consistently delicious meals. I highly recommend a tour with Meru Slopes; it will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience for me.
From our very first communication with Geofrey Nassari regarding planning and booking, to every single moment of our 5-day safari, our experience with MERU SLOPES Tours was absolutely exceptional. The reliability, kindness, and punctuality of every staff member made the journey seamless and delightful. A very special heartfelt thank you goes to Daniel, our amazing tour guide and driver. His expertise and thoughtfulness led us to numerous breathtaking spots where we could observe the fascinating wildlife up close. His insightful narratives about the animals immensely enriched our journey. Our accommodation in the lodges was dreamlike. As a family of four, we indulged in top-notch facilities, impeccable cleanliness, and heartwarming hospitality. The culinary delights in the evening and the abundant breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. The ambiance was unparalleled, especially when watching the animals through the mosquito net, bathed in soft moonlight at night. In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend MERU SLOPES Tours – an unforgettable adventure!
What an amazing experience! I can't say enough good things about the 5-Day Northern Tanzania Safari tour, from the moment we were picked up from the airport until we were dropped off at our hotel at the end of five incredible days, it was well organized and perfect! We toured Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. We felt we were given the best experience in each of the locations and luckily for us, we had Freddy as our A+, top-notch, first-rate driver and tour guide. Freddy knew where to go to have the best opportunity to see animals and his eagle eye spotted elusive animals we wouldn't have otherwise seen on our own. Because of Freddy's efforts, we were able to see the Big Five, which was amazing! Freddy was not only very knowledgeable in all the animals we saw, he could also identify birds and trees and gave his interesting tidbits of information on all of them. After spending five days with him, we considered him to be our friend and he treated us like friends. He was funny, kind, engaging and just a total joy to be with. If Freddy sees this or is told about this review (and I hope he is), please tell him that Tom Kat says Hi! Two of the nights we were on safari were spent in tents. The camp was always set up and ready for our arrival. The only suggestion I would make is that in your listing for the camping tours, perhaps you could provide a list of what the guests should bring. We were not aware that we should bring our own towel and I would have brought a small pillow had I known none were provided. Those are very small concerns in relation to how many moving parts there are in making this happen for so many people. The meals were wonderful! I was flabbergasted at how many items and how good everything was considering we were camping! Our chef was Ash and he was awesome! If you are reading this review as a potential buyer and you will be going to the Ngorongoro Crater, bring warm clothes! Fortunately, I had asked in advance what the weather would be and brought warm clothes but could have brought even warmer items. Camping on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim is very cold. There were several people in shorts because they didn't know it was going to be so cold. So come prepared! Perhaps, this is another thing that could be included in the tour listing so people know how to pack. Going on a safari is for most people a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm so glad I chose Meru Slopes for the company to organize our safari. It couldn't have gone better! Thank you! Greg and Janice
We had an incredible 5 days safari tour with Meru Slopes! Our guide and driver Saleh was excellent. He managed to show us rare animals like cheetas or leopards. He drove safely and was well organized. Our chef Gadi prepared us delicious food. We slept in lodge accoodation, everything was great. Special mention for the Heritage tented lodge in Serengeti who was just awesome! Mr Nassari was very attentive to our needs and adapted the tour for us. Thanks to you all, it was an incredible experience!
We had the best time on this safari trip (5days) visiting Tarangire National Park, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater. Everything was well organized - we got picked up promptly at the airport, the accommodations ranged from basic to luxury, the food was impressively delicious (even all the picnic lunches), and we saw more animals than we had hoped! Our driver Mudy was the best! He was very knowledgeable about where all the animals were and was able to spot them with a single glance while driving. We saw 30+ lions over our 5-day trip. Mudy was also a very careful driver. We saw a few other safari trucks break down on the road during our trip, but Mudy maintained our truck very well and drove as smoothly as he could given the bumpy roads. I would highly recommend him! Thank you Mudy for ensuring we had the best time on our first safari!
It was a well-organised trip from the initial pick-up from the airport and shout out to our safari guide, Innocent, who made the trip very enjoyable. With his detailed explanation one can truly understand more the beauty of the landscape and the wildlife. We managed to see all the Big 5 and learned some Swahili too. Hot food for lunch is also definitely a plus!
Myself and a friend took a 5 day tour with Meru Slopes around Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro at the end of June 2023. The trip was fantastic, really well organised, including pick up from and transfer to the airport which were much appreciated. Our guide Innocent was brilliant, very knowledgeable about the animals we saw and was always enthusiastic and keen to show us as much as possible. He drove us for up to 10 hours a day around the national parks to make sure we maximised our time which was great, and has a fantastic knowledge of the maze of routes around the Serengeti in particular. The lodges we stayed in were lovely, putting on a delicious hot lunch for each day, and were well organised with lovely staff. Would definitely recommend Innocent and Meru to others.
This was definitely once in a lifetime experience. I couldn't believe the abundance of life in Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara. It was far beyond my expectations. Thanks to Jacob we saw the big 5 and all the other famous animals of the savanna - giraffes, zebras, gnus, topis, impalas, crocodiles, hippos, secretary birds, numerous eagles and vultures, and many more. But the highlight was a cheetah teaching his cubs how to hunt a gazelle. Absolutely amazing. We were so lucky, but the luck is just a fraction of the story because Jacob new where (and in this very case when) the "action" is. He is extremely knowledgeable on any matter related to the wildlife. I, personally, am passionate about birds and he was an excellent guide, identifying them in most cases within a few seconds. Once again, thank you Jacob! As per our cook, Moshi, he was absolutely brilliant in his job. Moreover, he proved to be a great person giving his own slipping bag to my wife in the Ngorongoro camp. I cannot explain how grateful I am for what he did. Thank very, very much, Moshi! And one, les emotional, remark. If you have any special requests, or something you really want to see, let Jacob know. Just make sure you have clearly set your expectations and I am sure, he will do his best to accommodate them. Asante sana baba Jacob! Asante sana baba Moshi!
This is my first time for safari. Very happy with Jacob and Moshi! For Jacob, he is really professional and knowledgeable. During Safari he’s able to lock animals accurately. And also can answer many questions from me. What’s more, his driving skills are fantastic, he can find a good place when there are many cars waiting for animals. For Moshi, our chef, is also fantastic! He cooked really well. We have different food every meal every day. Everytime we have our meal, we have soup, bread, and three main courses with vary kinds of beverage drinks. Often, Jacob and Moshi told me some Tanzania knowledge and language. All in all, I highly recommend mere slopes with Jacob and Moshi!
When we search for safari companies in Tanzania, thousands of them appear... Which one to choose?? What is the best? Then we found a company that has over 700 reviews, and all of them are 5 stars. It's called Meru Slopes. We asked for information by email, and from the first moment Geofrey responded attentively to all our queries, organized the itinerary according to our requests, made suggestions! we are 2 adventurous friends, and we wanted to visit Tarangire, Serenguetti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara Parks, 5 days, accommodation in lodges. And today, like many other travelers, we want to leave our testimony, and also attribute 5 stars to the performance of Meru Slopes, not only to Geofrey, but to all the staff who work there. We particularly want to praise our guide Salehe and the chef who accompanied us. They are extraordinary!! Salehe knows all the ways, he took us to the best places to see the animals (yes, we saw the BIG 5), he knew everything about them, their way of life, he gave us the necessary time in each place, not only to take pictures, but also to feel, breathe and capture each unique moment. We did the shared safari with other travelers and the experience became even more enriching. There were 6 of us in the jeep, and each day we alternated places between us. The vehicles are very reliable, and the driver/guide is super professional. It's hard to find words to describe the feeling of waking up in the Serengetti and simply listening to nature... But my favorite day was Ngorongoro! Be sure to visit. Get in touch today, make a reservation, and ask for Salehe, he's TOP, really good. He gave us lots of tips on places to visit in Arusha at the end of the safari, and we learned a lot from him about the Masai and Tanzania in general. I STRONGLY recommend staying at the lodges, ours were spectacular (thanks Geofrey), it's really worth the difference in price. You only live once. We will be back and we will bring our friends. Keep up the excellent work!!!
We did a 5 day group camping safari visiting, Tarangire National Park, Serengeti (2 nights) and Ngorongoro crater. Our driverguide Mudy was amazing, he made sure that we saw all big 5 and many other animals. We were lucky to see a rhino in Serengeti (extremely rare!) and Ngorongoro (really close). Mudy is very experienced and knew where to go to ensure the best experience for us. Our cook Moshi spoiled us with delicious food during our trip. We had pancakes, eggs, sausages, toast etc for breakfast, proper hot lunch en-route (no simple cold lunch package like many others!) and amazing dinners (3-4 courses including soup, pizza, main courses like spaghetti bolognese, fried chicken or beef steak). The company also picked us up from the airport and drove us to our next hotel in Moshi. Water and softdrinks were included. The tents at the campsites were built up for us, which was also very convenient. We normally never write any reviews, but this company only deserves the best! Asante sana for an amazing safari! Stefan & Sophie
From start to finish our Safari experience with Mount Meru Slopes was just beyond incredible............. Our driver Daniel ensured our safety throughout with his experience and safe driving as well as a keen eye for animals and valuable information along the whole route, any problems swiftly fixed on route to ensure we continued on our journey. Buga our chef ensured daily we were provided with the best and most tasty food i have had in Tanzania as well as an infectious smile to brighten anyones day. The whole Mount Meru Team were friendly and helpful each day when we all met in the campsites. We were more than impressed with our encounters along the way Daniel finding us the best locations and animal action he could, each national park surprising us beyond our imagination. We saw so many animals and have so many amazing photos from our experience. Camping was more than comfortable being provided with Spaciaous quality tents, comfortable roll mats and a warm sleeping bag for the cooler crater night. We will be returning in the coming months with family and friends with Mount Meru Slopes and you shouldn't hesitate either, In my opinion their customer services, prices and attention to detail are unbeatable and the best in Arusha. We will be reccomending to ALL :-) Love to you all the Mount Meru Slopes Team Caroline & Shaun Asante Sana
The experience of a lifetime! Our family of four went on a five day, four-night camping safari in July 20222. Everything about this trip far exceeded our already high expectations. We chose the camping option because we like to camp, and wanted a more natural experience. We saw all of the big five, including a mother lion nursing her cubs, a leopard in a tree guarding its prey, more elephants and buffalo than we could count, and a magnificent rhino. Also zebras, giraffe, hippos, hyenas, wildebeest, ostriches, jackals, gazelle, impalas, flamingos, baboons, monkeys, warthogs, and more - even a family of cheetahs lounging beneath a tree just a few feet away from us! Innocent our guide was always accommodating, asked us what we were interested in, made every effort to locate the wildlife with uncanny instincts, then allowed us to observe for as long as we wanted to. We never felt rushed, and our comfort and satisfaction always seemed to be his highest priority. Innocent was also very knowledgeable about wildlife behavior, we learned a great deal from him. Another great surprise was the food - three hot, multi-course meals a day - certainly not what we were expecting on a camping safari! Dullah our cook clearly has a passion for cooking and hospitality, and was always cheerful and accommodating. Breakfast included fruit, pancakes, eggs, freshly baked bread and other surprises. While other groups were eating boxed lunches, we always had a hot multi-course lunch, served at our campsite or in the bush. Dinners were even more elaborate affairs with multiple courses, for more than we could eat. It seemed that Dullah was always working on the next meal, somehow producing these elaborate feasts from basic campground kitchens - truly the best meals we had anywhere in Tanzania. As an added bonus, between Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, we visited a Masai village where we were treated to a welcome dance, a tour of traditional Masai homes, and a demonstration of Masai skills and handicrafts, which we found to be very enlightening. Everything from my initial inquiries, to the transport and accommodations before setting out, and all the other arrangements were handled very professionally and in a highly organized manner. We could not recommend Meru Slopes more highly, and would like to thank Innocent, Dullah and Geofrey Nasari for making this incredible experience possible.
Best experience of my life. We were thinking to take a safari years ago. The experience with Meru Slopes has been much better that I could expected. Our guide Mudy speaks Spanish and English fluently. We were the first group on the road each morning, even before sunrise. Thanks to him we lived unbelievable experiences each day. Our cook Salim was amazing too. We ate better during our safari than in town. It was crazy the good level of the food in a camping site. Thank you Meru Slopes and thank you Mudy and Salim!
CANNOT RECCOMEND ENOUGH!!!! Everything was great. Great value for the money. Food was incredible and more than we could have ever asked for. Our tour guide Ed was very knowledgeable and his passion showed at all times.
Group of 4 girls. We did 5 days of Safari: Tarangiri, Serengeti, ‘ngorongoro and lake Manyara. Two nights we spent in the tented camp (experience to do and they are super organized both in the setting up of tents and in the preparation of meals) and two nights in lodges (jambo and fanaka) very cozy. All the staff very kind, attentive and considerate. I am celiac and they have had a lot of attention about it often making dishes just for me. Our Godfrey driver was super: attentive, considerate, competent. Super recommended experience!!!!
We went on a 5-day safari with Meru Slopes in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro parks. Everything went very well: good communication, flexibility on our requests, good lodges, comfortable vehicle, and especially very experienced Guide who did everything to make the most of our first safari. We've seen a lot of animals, including the big five. Exceptional experience! Thank you very much to the Meru Slopes team and especially to our Samuel Guide!
We have just experienced an exceptional African adventure thanks to Meru Slopes and Samuel our Guide. Samuel that we highly recommend made us discover a land unknown to us. he knew with patience, gentleness and kindness to make us live moments of great emotions. A 7-day walk with perfect organization took us from Tarangire National Park through Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater. Animal diversity, diversity of landscapes only happiness. The accommodation conditions were in line with our expectations and the meals excellent. Samuel in Super Guide speaking good French allowed us to tick the 5 boxes of the big five. Congratulations to all the team. I recommend.
Successful in every respect, organization excellent, our driver King William , very good driver , competent and open-minded!! All from our point of view a great trip with many Unpacked! Assante sana to the whole meru Slopes team
Very easy to communicate with the Enterprise during the preparation of the itinerary, in this case with Geoffrey. It was in line with what I was looking for for this Safari, the accommodations were good, the food was good. Our guide Salehe was amazing. We spent 5 days together (less sleeping), very helpful, has a lot of experience and knows a lot about the animals and taught us a lot about them. I recommend!
After a careful analysis of the various tour operators that organize Safaris in Tanzania, we opted for Meru slopes for several reasons: the positive reviews, the price, the fact that the first of the 5 days of safari actually started from the visit to the first park and not on arrival the day before the Safari (as most other tour operators do), not to mention that the two nights before and after the safari were included in addition to the transfer from/to the airport. We spoke directly with the owner, Geoffrey, who was very helpful in answering our questions and requests both by email and directly on whatsapp. We chose to go on a 5-day private safari in Tanzania's northern parks, namely Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, sleeping in lodges and tented camps. Our guide Jacob, as well as being very nice, was very knowledgeable about the animals and the characteristics of the various parks we visited, very good at driving and extricating ourselves from the various jeeps to provide us with the best view to be able to take pictures. As promised, he put himself at our complete disposal to make sure that we were happy, and so indeed it was, showing himself immediately available to comply with our every request. He told us several anecdotes about the local culture and also taught us some expressions in Swahili and when we asked him if it was possible to visit a Masaai village, he pleased us. Among other things, he also took some beautiful photos with the landscapes in the background. We saw all the big 5, thanks also to Jacob's exceptional sight, as well as the ugly 5 and countless other animals. The lodges were all very nice and clean, and it was especially in the Kontiki tented lodge, inside the Serengeti, that we could hear the sounds of animals while sleeping in the tent. The lunches were among other things all very good and even too abundant. Highly recommended!!! U good?! Asante healthy!!
Overview: 5 Days wildebeest migration tour Tarangire,Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and lake Manyara Lodge safaris We stayed 5 days with Salehe on safari and it was fantastic! It was just impressive what we saw. Salehe is very friendly, has taught us a lot of interesting things and has answered all our questions, moreover he has responded to our wishes. Thanks to him we could see the Big5 in one day!! It's really great how quickly Salehe saw the animals and tried to get us as close as possible to the animals!:) We had a lot of fun on this safari, saw a lot and got to know new things. The accommodations were mostly also very great! I can only recommend the safari experience with Salahe!! However, the hotel for the 1 night and last night is disaster! Too bad we were not accommodated in one of the hotels, as was on the schedule.... In addition, I would have liked to spend an extra day at Serengeti and skipped the Rhino Lodge. Also, not everything that was on the schedule was correct, but what was not attached to Salehe, but to the organizer himself. The plan would simply have to be updated. The safari with Salehe I give 5/5 points. The hotels, food, organization by the owner etc 3.5/5 points.
