Tucson Half Day Rock Climbing Or Canyoneering In Arizona

Our experience with Arizona Climbing Guides was amazing. Our guide, Nate, was perfect. He was easy to talk to, friendly, and experienced. He picked routes that were challenging enough for my son and me, but not so difficult that we could not finish the routes. It was the perfect balance of challenge and fun. Throughout the day, he made sure we felt completely safe and confident on the rock. It was such a rewarding experience from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better day. We’ll definitely be climbing with Nate and Arizona Climbing guides next time we’re in Arizona!

Did 1/2 day of climbing in Prescott with Jayci. He is one of the best guides I have used since I started actively climbing 3 years ago. Friendly, competent and helpful. , and Would definitely use them again if in the area. Highly recommended!

This is a short hike followed by some scrambling and at least 4 nice rappels down a beautiful gorge with pristine waterfalls. The guides are excellent. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a great time rappelling in Tanque Verde canyon with Dylan! It was our first time canyoneering and we loved it. Dylan was such a fun guide and made us feel very safe while dangling from the edge of the canyon. Plus a beautiful hike through the canyon with waterfalls and beautiful rocks. Definitely recommend this for a fun adventure day in Tucson!

TJ was an amazing guide for first time climbers. We all felt safe, encouraged and made it to the top. I would highly recommend this tour.

TJ was a fantastic guide! I’d never climbed outside before but he was super encouraging and helpful. Despite the nerves, everything felt super safe and I could tell he knew what he was doing. The views were incredible, would absolutely do again!

This excursion was definitely the highlight of our spring break trip. JC was very knowledgable and patient. Our 11 year old daughter was pretty nervous and he made every effort to make her feel safe. The scenery was beautiful and the rappelling was a real adrenaline rush. I highly recommend this trip!

Super cool canyoneering experience with Javan our guide. Not sure I really knew what we were getting ourselves into but we spent 1/2 day with Javan who was encouraging, kind and super safety focused as we traversed the Tanque Verde Canyon. We did 3 repels that were increasingly higher and the hike was about 4 miles in a gorgeous saguaro-filled canyon. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to be outdoors, do something to push themselves a bit and see gorgeous scenery. I wish I had sneakers that griped better...but all in all it was a great morning.

We had an excellent two days nothing climbing at mt lemon and canyoning at tangue verde. TJ was our guide and he texted with Anita answering all of her questions. He was a great guide (he laughed at all of my bad dad jokes). We felt really comfortable and he chose areas and routes that were appropriate for all.

Our guide, Jake, was terrific. Very knowledgeable and gave us an extraordinary experience. Wish this was actually at Mt Lemmon but Tanque Verde was beautiful!

This was a fantastic experience! The waterfalls weren’t running, but it’s still a really cool area to explore. Javen is a wonderful guide- patient & thorough. I had never rappelled before and he expertly walked me through it. Definitely outside my comfort zone, but I had a lot of fun and made some great memories. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to give canyoning a try.

I went on two half-day adventures with Arizona Climbing Guides. On the first day, we went rock climbing, and on the second day, we went repelling. I have never tried either but always wanted to do so. Javen was my guide on both days. He reached out prior to the appointments to go over details and meeting place. He is highly experienced and a very good teacher. He explained everything in detail and was always safety conscious. He provided a helmet and climbing shoes for me to use. With Javen’s coaching and encouragement, I was able to climb to the top of a rock face and repel down multiple drops. Both days were at Windy Point on Mt Lemmon. He was very accommodating and wanted me to do what I wanted and enjoy doing it. By learning about rock climbing first, it was helpful when climbing back up after repelling. I’m 62 and found some of the climbs back to the top challenging, but Javen took it slow and never minded me taking a break. He was always there, ready to offer a hand when needed. Javen was the perfect guide! He even knew about the plant life and took photos!

I was lucky to get JC as my guide today. To say he was amazing, doesn’t even begin to give him the accolades he deserves. He was patient and encouraging with me. This was my first time climbing and rappelling and he made me feel confident and safe. If you are deciding if you should do this tour or not- you will not be disappointed! Pick it. Take the chance because you are in great hands with a ton of experience with JC.

My niece and I booked the half day rock climbing trip with Arizona Climbing Guides. Our guide was Javan, and he was absolutely amazing. Not only was he very patient with us first timers, but he gave us technical explanations for why he did everything and placed safety first. My niece and I had an absolute blast and we cannot wait to book another trip!

This trip was amazing from the very beginning. Javan made every effort to make us feel at ease and just enjoy the experience. The views were breathtaking, the repelling spectacular, and the bouldering and scrambling was just so fun. Highly recommend!!!!

Wonderful adventures for my family! We booked both canyoneering and rock climbing for two separate days of our vacation. We have a 15 year old and 8 year old, and our guide Javan was excellent with them both. He advised us well as to switching our canyoneering and rock climbing days due to weather, and we even turned our canyoneering into another fabulous rock climbing adventure based on his honest description of the challenges, especially with a younger kid.

Our guide Javan was wonderful and adaptable. Our family of four (boys aged 12 and 15 and 50ish Mom and Dad) had a great time climbing at Saguaro NP. Javan came up with a plan after rain prevented our canyoning trip and snow prevented accessing Mt Lemmon. We still ended up with a great day. Thank you Javan!

Tucson has great access to nature, and the opportunity to climb Mt. Lemmon presented a nice change of pace and muscle group in a week of hiking. I called in advance and was given useful input on which option might work best for me. ACG accommodated my schedule and the gear I could stuff into my carry-on. Jayci, who I spoke to on the phone and my guide for the day, was knowledgeable and attentive to my skill level when picking a wall and identifying some climbs. He was present throughout the day, allowing me time to solve my own problems and providing input when appropriate. It was an incredibly positive experience and I'd recommend giving them a call if you're considering climbing in/around Tucson. To top it off, I even got a stellar recommendation for a sandwich-eating spot further up the mountain 👌 it was a great day

This activity was a lot of fun. I was a little intimidated at the beginning because I had never done anything similar before, but Javan was great at explaining the equipment, techniques, taking pictures and had extensive knowledge of the area. After repelling, climbing and repellig the 40 feet climb again, I still had plenty of time left in the tour. I decided that this was enough climbing for the day, so Javan was nice enough to guide me through a hike for the rest of the time. This was great as the views are breathtaking!!

We had such an awesome experience with ACG. Ben was our guide and he did an excellent job of providing feedback and instruction and tailoring routes for our specific skill level. It was so much fun and our confidence in our climbing ability has increased amazingly. Our last climb was a spire which was exhilarating and challenging. It was great fun and will definitely ask for Ben when we book another climbing adventure.

Jayci was my climbing guide / teacher. I believe he told me he had over 25 years of climbing experience. I felt very safe and comfortable….. Well, as comfortable as you can be for your first time climbing😁. Also, friendly and encouraging. For experienced climbers: There is another participant who was an experience climber. It seemed like she was able to get in a couple challenging climbs. I Plan on booking again….

This was my favorite guided tour yet! My flight was delayed and Javin was super flexible which was great. Once we got climbing he made sure I was learning stuff and having fun, while clearly paying great attention to safety. It was clear he hand picked climbs based on my experience level and comfort with the exposure. He also had a lot of knowledge about the area and its history. All in all a great experience? Javin was great, and i would definitely book another climb with them!

My girlfriend and I just finished a 4 day trip with Arizona Climbing Guides near Mt. Lemmon and Cochise Stronghold. We had the owner, Jayci, as our guide and I’m having a hard time imagining how we could top this climbing experience. We did mostly multipitch climbing. Jayci is extremely knowledgeable about the area, patient and passionate about people’s experiences, and his love of rock climbing shines without ego. Every climb he chose for us had the perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment. He is a pleasure to be around and we can’t wait to book another trip with him!

My friend and I flew from Utah to climb for one half day at Mt.Lemmon and 3 full days at Cochise Stronghold. I have climbed with a lot of guides over many years, and can honestly say Jayci was one of the best guides I’ve climbed with. He chose climbs that challenged us, provided exciting and varied climbing terrain, all while keeping us moving through long days, keeping up safe and making us laugh. My guide, TJ, was very knowledgeable and experienced and I felt safe the entire time. This was my first time rock climbing and he taught me a lot about the sport, like how to tie knots, what each piece of gear did, etc. Best of all I was able to get on the rocks and conquer some of my fears. TJ was patient and encouraging the entire time. The hike to/from the crag was about 1 mile each way with some inclines and beautiful views. I would highly recommend even if you are a first-timer, as there are "easy" climbs available. I was a solo traveler and that wasn't an issue (i.e. no group minimum), which I really appreciate. Going in the morning also allowed for cooler temps and our climbing spot was shady and very comfortable.

We had a great time with our guides! We were inexperienced, but they were patient and thorough in teaching us. Consider fingerless climbing gloves for your trip!

Our guide, Ben, was super friendly and started us off with an awesome repel. We then did two climbs on fairly uncomplicated routes. Ben helped, not just by belaying us, but pointing out helpful holds and reminding me that he had the rope, which helped my confidence. Then it was on to Hitchcock, which was way harder, but totally worth it. We got some great pics at the top, and you can’t mistake how stoked we were! To finish the day we repelled down a much bigger rock, and that was a great capstone to the day. Ben was super chill all day and even taught us about canyoneering techniques since we weren’t able to hit the canyons due to water levels. I would confidently climb with Ben any day and would recommend this trip 10/10. Thank you!

We booked this for a mixed-skill group of twenty-somethings. They came back saying "best day of our lives". The one who had never climbed had a great day. The ones who frequently climb had a great day. All felt safe and like their guide knew exactly what he was doing! (altho they could not recall his name). Would so do this again - highly recommend.

We did a full day climbing at My Lemmon and one at Cochise Stronghold. Brandon Gottung was our guide for both days. Brandon was fantastic. We had a great time, and he personalized our trip to meet our skills and preferences. He was fun and pleasant to hang out with, as well as helpful in coaching us to improve our climbing. We also went canyoneering with Ben Ramsey who showed us a great time. Ben made easy conversation and planned a fun outing. Jayci Ferrimani coordinated the trips, and quickly rearranged trips when the weather impacted plans. Great outfit all around. Would love to go back.

It was amazing everything: location, guide, weather, instructions, experience. We had an absolute blast. The guide, Jake, was friendly, professional and fun.
