This was the greatest experience! My dad and went on a road trip and while in Sedona went on this adventure and it is something we have been talking about a month later!! Our guide was amazing and enthusiastic about the stars, galaxies, his telescope, and space in general they were the guides to have! We looked at the rings of Saturn and far off galaxies, truly incredible! Take this tour you’ll remember it forever.

Itinerary
We will guide you to a secluded dark sky site, away from Sedona's city lights. There, we will set up our telescopes and sweep you away on a cosmic journey! Using a laser, your guide will trace out the constellations and point out interesting objects like the Milky Way, planets, meteor showers, or passing satellites. Next, we will show you a selection of galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters through our telescopes. Unlike traditional astronomy tours, we don't limit ourselves to viewing directly through our scopes with eyepieces. We've outfitted our instruments with special astronomy cameras, so they can capture live video of faint celestial objects and stream the feeds to our 4k OLED TV. Everyone can see the views in extraordinary color and detail simultaneously. All the images of celestial objects in our gallery were captured by our scopes, and are representative what you'll see. Our activity blurs the lines between direct observation and astrophotography. At the end of the tour, you will have a chance to save your favorite images from our video astronomy session to keep.

Chris and Katelyn were fantastic. So kind and helpful. Sadly the weather didn’t cooperate. We received a prompt full refund. Cannot thank Chris enough for being thoughtful under the circumstances. Would absolutely do again if in the area.
Chris was super knowledgeable and entertaining and Kaitlyn was patient and attentive with helping you find things. The communication w the tour operator was great as far as location and dressing for the weather. The dark sky area was beautiful!! We saw so many awesome things- I’m definitely glad we booked this experience!
Amazon experience. Chris was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Bringing the kids the next time we visit Sedona.
Excellent experience. Chris was knowledgeable and funny and showed us so many things. The location was easy to find and perfect for viewing.
This was a great evening under the stars. 2 telescopes, 1 the size of a cannon. He was educational as well as entertaining and we saw so many stars, constellations, galaxies, satellites. He also donates his time at schools to keep kids interested in the real world sky instead of their screens so please support! Choose Night Owl Tours.
Chris from Night Owl tours was amazing from the initial booking to the end of his presentation. He double-checked to ensure we had all waivers complete, accurate directions to the venue, and went beyond expectation. I not only saw an amazing beautiful starlight sky, but received an education in astronomy like no other. Thank you Chris!
While the presenter seemed knowledgeable about Astronomy the format used fell short of expectations on all levels, especially after reviewing the Viator description & photos.
Chris took us on a tour of the stars, planets and galaxies he was very informative which made for an enjoyable experience.
We are so glad we signed up for a stargazing night with Night Owl Tours!! We initially were on the fence because we didn't know if it would be worth it, but we really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who has any interest at all in seeing and learning about what's in the night sky. Chris is an amazing guide - he's incredibly knowledgeable, very entertaining and funny, and clearly very passionate about what he does. He had some very cool equipment that allowed us to see stars, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and more. He had comfortable chairs and blankets for the group and gave detailed instructions for how to get to the meeting location. Everything was very professional and well worth it. Twelve out of ten, highly recommend!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and for a cosmic expert was actually pretty funny. The night was perfect with millions of stars, shooting stars, satellites, and a fun group to enjoy it with. Would highly recommend.
Chris is an expert astrophysicist miner who will explain the formation and longevity of the stars and planets in the dark sky.
Great trip to the stars with a knowledgeable astronomer! The experience managed to be both informative and entertaining. A small group meant there was time for everyone to take their time viewing the objects brought into focus, and there was plenty of time for questions. It would be fun to do this same tour in all seasons to see the night sky at different times of year!
This was such a fun experience. Our astronomer was personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. The drive to the spot was easy, the dirt road was clearly marked, and we appreciated the warm blankets waiting in the chairs for us. We highly recommend this experience! We got to view celestial objects through a telescope and saw others on a screen. It was fascinating and we learned a lot. Dress warmer than you think you should. It gets chilly. 10 out of 10!
Chris was extremely knowledgeable and engaging! We got to see stars and planets through a mechanical telescope and more distant objects through an electronic telescope. Chris had blankets on hand for those who were cold and overall was a very accommodating and excellent guide. Thanks Chris!
Nice evening to see the stars both with the eye and through 1 telescopes. Chris is very knowledgeable and shares his knowledge in a relatable and engaging way. Mosquitoes are giants so bring spray and enjoy the evening!
Christopher was very knowledgeable and shared great information. We really appreciated the laser pointer. He has a great friendly demeanor and made sure we all had a clear view through the telescope! Beautiful time!
Chris is very knowledgeable about astronomy and the stars. We had a wonderful experience.
We had a wonderful evening learning, viewing, and enjoying a beautiful night. Chairs and warm blanket was a thoughtful touch!
The star gazing was wonderful and the directions to viewing spot were clear. We appreciated the signs and blinking light near the last part of journey up a dark dirt road! Views through telescope were amazing and our guide was quite knowledgeable. However, one member of the viewing group sorta hijacked things with her constant smart questions and comments. Our guide went down a lot of “rabbit holes” responding and got way too nerdy for the two of us. Those parts of the tour went way over our heads and I expect most everyone else’s! Getting the chance to view Jupiter was so exciting!! Kudos to our guide for providing comfy chairs and blankets. He was very specific in texts leading up to tour telling us what to wear and bring with us. All in all a fun evening!
Very informative and incredible to see cosmic entities up close. Our host was knowledgeable, approachable, and we felt well looked after. Lovely photos of what we located in the skies to remember our beautiful evening of stargazing ⭐️✨🌟
If you love the science behind astronomy, this is the tour for you! Chris could teach a PhD level course on the universe he us so knowledgeable. He has amazing telescopes, and one projected onto a screen for better viewing. We saw stars, constellations, galaxies and planets, including the rings on Saturn! His location was easy to find and he did a great job for us, including providing us blankets on a cold Sedona night in January. It was a great experience for us Chicago people seeing a sky full of stars that we never see at home.
Very interesting and informative! Big skies in Sedona are amazing. Learned a lot and saw planets, galaxies, stars, and more!
Our tour guide Chris was outstanding. He gave excellent directions to the site and provided a very educational and enjoyable stargazing experience, we learned so much, and he was so nice, we are all Chris fans!
We booked this because it’s been decades since we’ve seen so many stars, and the trip didn’t disappoint in that account. The spot was perfect and easy to find, and the night sky really shone. Chris was amazing and so full of knowledge. He gave us some amazing information and was great at making sure we could find the objects we were looking for. He had two telescopes and both were amazing. He also was thoughtful enough to provide chairs and huge blankets which made the winter trip a lot easier to deal with. We will absolutely book with Night Owl again when we come back.
We loved this stargazing tour! Everything was well organized, the directions to the location were easy to follow. Chris was an amazing guide! He is clearly very passionate and very knowledgeable about astronomy. The tour was very interesting and we learned a lot. If I am in the area again I will take this tour again.
Near perfect experience, Chris the might owl is great and 4d screen is a super cool feature. Might be nice to have a few telescope options, but, I understand it might be a lot for one operator to manage.
What a awesom night the sky was clear and absolutely perfect so many stars and getting to see a galaxy with my own eyes thru a 18in telescope was something i didnt think id ever do. Chris was outstanding and made it so fun 10/10 would definitely do again.
Chris did a fantastic tour for just the two of us. I am just learning about astronomy and astrophotography and being with Chris was absolutely an educational experience. He is off-scale knowledgeable about all aspects of astronomy including the photography aspect. I only wish we could do the tour several more times! It was that good! Thank you Chris!
The night we went there was a chill in the air. Chairs were set up and each with a heavy blanket. The viewing spot, though out of the way, provided a very dark sky. The presentation was excellent and every question was answered when it was asked; usually with the answer in two form the quick easy answered followed by a scientific answer. It was clear that this presentation and equipment were the hosts and he took great pride in what he was doing.
Really enjoyed this tour! We chose this over others because it was a small group (max size of 12, we were lucky having just 3 total). We also appreciated that the event was also located outside of town with panoramic viewing. Chris is extremely knowledgeable and shared so many details about the night sky, both with his massive telescope and with live photos he took and presented in 4K. He had chairs and warm blankets ready to go and was extremely patient with questions.
Chris led a fantastic "tour" of the Sedona night sky! We learned so much and really appreciated his sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge about astronomy.
It was a little difficult to find, not enough signs to get to destination. Chris was awesome and did well for being all alone. Informative and fun, very chilly. I thought hot chocolate was going to be offered?
Christopher was very knowledgeable about the stars and history of astronomy. He was friendly and answered our many questions.
This is a spectacular space exploration experience. If you're near Sedona and love observing the deep beauty of space and learning lots of interesting space facts, this tour is for you! Chris was an engaging, funny, and very knowledgeable host astronomer. The time flew by and we saw lots of new-to-me space objects with details about how they formed and how to find them again. I lf I come back, I will book again. Thank you!
This was a worthwhile activity. The dark sky made for great viewing, and having such a knowledgeable host was very nice.
My wife and I did the tour last week and it was amazing! Christopher was a great guide to the stars. He was very knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing that with us. State of the art equipment, telescopes and viewing the sky on the monitors enhanced our experience!
Chris was very knowledgable & clear in communicating the night sky on our tour. Looking thru his 18 inch large telescope was awesome & then seeing on TV screen from his computer operated telescope the difference in what CAN be seen was impressive.
The tour leader/astronomer was completely disorganized, he didn’t have the equipment set up - we waited over half an hour from the scheduled start of the tour while he set it up He would take at least 10 minutes going between/setting up the two telescopes in between looking at one object in the sky and did this mostly without speaking so we sat and waited in silence until he would start speaking again. This made the tour, which was supposed to start at 8:30pm, drag out unnecessarily. We were exhausted from our day exploring and expecting much more organization and a bit of a faster pace. He didn’t seem to have self awareness about how the tour was coming across either. He finally had to end the tour because the clouds made it difficult to see much. He was apologetic and very knowledgeable but the overall presentation was scattered and too drawn out. We appreciated he said we would be given a full refund in light of all the issues, but would not necessarily recommend spending time on this.
Sedona is a certified dark sky area. Take advantage of the low light pollution and go on a dark sky tour with Night Owl tours. You drive about 30 minutes from the village of Oak Creek out to the location where the stargazing is done. It’s a pleasant drive. The last three or 4 miles are on a dirt road that can be done by any type of vehicle but does require a little bit of care. Once on top of the hill, you’re greeted by Chris and all of his fabulous toys. He’s got chairs for you, a big screen TV, and two of the coolest telescopes I’ve ever seen. Chris is incredibly knowledgeable in astronomy and will take you on a tour of the stars like nothing you have ever seen. You’ll get to look through the telescope yourself at the various things that he’s pointing out and hear all about our galaxy and other galaxies in the universe. The sky view from the stargazing area cannot adequately be described. On a clear night the amount of stars you can see is limitless. Make time to do this while you’re visiting Sedona because it’s absolutely worth the effort.
The equipment was phenomenal but we only saw 5 objects in the telescope and 2 images on the screen. We were hoping for more! Saw Saturn in the scope which was thrilling. The laser pointing out the constellations was awesome. Hint to viewers: To speed things up with 12 people, stand in line at the scope instead of leaving your chair one at a time.
The experience operator Chris was wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly. Our family had an excellent time. Can’t wait to do it again in the winter with a new sky! If you’re thinking about doing this BOOK IT! it’s awesome. You get to experience two different telescopes on top of the amazing views with the naked eye - sky out here is incredible. Chris is great!
My family really enjoyed this overview of the Sedona night sky. Chris' passion and knowledge were very appreciated. He provided chairs and blankets, which were also appreciated. The meet up locations vary and I was a bit worried about not having the info about a week before our reservation but called Chris and he explained and closer to our visit I did get very helpful information both texted and emailed to me. Group included all adults. Not sure a late, cold night would work well for little ones. Definitely recommend Chris and Night Owls.
It was a great experience! They were prepared for all 10 of the people that came by having chairs and blankets for us to use. They had two telescopes but we only looked through one (which was fine), the other was what they used to find the distant galaxies and then projected onto a large tv. We saw things that we never imagined we would. Chis and Kim are great hosts and are very good at keeping everyone busy seeing things we never imagined. It was a wonderful first night activity for our time in Sedona! We highly recommend this!
We had a wonderful time. We got to see star clusters, nebula and galaxies from deep space as well as planets and star clusters in our solar system. The projection on the television and manual viewing through telescopes was a nice mix. We appreciated the warm blankets and cozy chairs. As backyard telescopes it was wonderful to see objects we can’t see or find on our own especially in our light polluted town. Our teen loved this tour as it was a great addition to her astronomy course from this school year. So glad we did this tour!
Chris and Kim were awesome! Very knowledgeable and fun and funny. A great experience overall. You will not know the meeting point until the day of. That was a minor stress for me but Chris called and eased my mind.
I've never seen the sky like this before. This was an incredibly unique experience, with opportunities to use the telescope. Chris and Kim were very knowledgeable and communicated clearly about the night's location.
Chris and Kim are very knowledgeable. It was nice they provided not only chairs but blankets! It was too bad that several cars pulled up into the parking lot while presentation, but at same time appreciated that we were located in the parking lot rather than having to deal with unpaved trail and possible other hazards.
Really cool experience. Chris and his help were so knowledgeable and you could really tell the passion they have for the celestial world, the galaxies, and beyond. His knowledge was much more in-depth than I was expecting. Im so glad we did this experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a more scientific experience. The photos with description were really appreciated! So cool!!
It was great. They pointed out constellations and we looked through a telescope and saw Jupiter and 4 of its moons, Mars, a star, and a galaxy just to name a few. They provided chairs and blankets as it was a little chilly.
