Our guide Brad was very informative.
We experienced a wonderful hiking tour on private property with JC our guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the site and the history of the ancient people. We learned so much. Thank you Safari and JC.
Interesting and fun hike in a secluded area outside of Sedona. Good pace for the hike, not too strenuous.
Vivian, our tour guide was excellent
Doc was an excellent tour guide. We went to a pre Sinagua archeological site and he was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he showed us. Would highly recommend the tour
Great tour through ancient ruins. Very educational. Highly recommend it for history. Hiking was good, a few scrambles over some rocks. Scenery was amazingly, especially by the water.
Our guide Bob was a wealth of knowledge about the area, the history, and the hike experience. We saw so many petraglyphs, native plants, and interesting rocks. Our family highly recommends this tour as he catered toward everyone's abilities and interests.
CK our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The customer service was great. CK helped me get into the jeep. The jeep ride was amazing! CK had chilled water and walking sticks ready for us. The hike was moderate. It was the best of both worlds for my husband and I because I love to go on hikes while he likes history. It was amazing see not only to learn about the cactus but also seeing the pictographs on the rocks.
I can not imagine a better experience. My wife and I are both in our 80's. Our guide, CK, was very knowledgeable educating and delighting us with local ancient history. The trail itself was a challenge. CK was very patient and help us negotiate it. Finally we were delighted with signs of ancient tribes including their "kitchen" and petroglyphs.
I had a great time on my adventure. The check in process was smooth. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very considerate of our needs. I really enjoyed my adventure.
Lea was very knowledgeable. She knows so much about the Sedona area. We have been going to Sedona for years. Never new there was volcanos. Also how all the red rocks where formed. Wish there was more archaelogy to see. The hike was wonderful. Walking along the river was so peaceful. Lea is a very kind caring person. I would highly recommend Arizona Safari tours. I would also recommend Lea
This was the best day!! Fantastic group of people. Ask for Cowboy Bob. He’s a true Sedona historian and really knows the area. We will be back on tours with Arizona Safari again and again.
What a fabulous tour!!! The guides were SO knowledgeable and kind. We learned a lot about the culture and saw a lot of fantastic petroglyphs. It was fascinating - highly recommended!!!!!!!!
Cowboy Bob - was very knowledgable about the Indian ruins. Showed us alot of fossils and petroglyphics. Very friendly and hospitable. He knew a lot about Sedona past and we had the best hiking experience ever. Thank you Cowboy Bob!
We had an amazing time with our tour guide, Joe, on the Archaeology Hiking Tour. Great knowledge of the area, the geology, and the Indian culture and petroglyphs in the village abandoned 600 years ago! My wife and I greatly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended!!!
JC was amazing. He was super knowledgeable and experienced. He made the past come to life and pointed out ancient markings on rocks, remains of kitchens, homes and history of the people who lived there 13,000 years ago. The owner of Safari is the only tour company that has access to this area. The limited access allows for preservation. We highly recommend JC. He is passionate in sharing.
Our guide was fantastic and very knowledgable. We learned a lot, and enjoyed the tour very much. I wa sconcerned about the "hiking" , but if you bring hiking poles you will be fine.
The area was amazing, if you love diving into the past, this one is for you. The tour guide, CK, really made you feel like you were there experiencing what the people might have been doing at the time. This is one trip you want to take.
Bob was a fantastic guide! So informative and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time, seen so much and learned a lot of history. I would do it again in an heartbeat. Also his assistant Mike did a very good job. I couldn’t get my photo’s to load, but you won’t be disappointed going on this hike!
The tour was informative, educational, and interesting. Our guide Wyatt was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and history. We would highly recommend this tour and guide.
The tour was awesome. Our guide Doc was so knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting. Seeing the ruins and finding artifacts from so long ago was incredible. The jeep was custom made and super comfortable. Will definitely go with this company again next time we are in Sedona😉👍
The Arizona Safari Jeep archeology tour was fascinating! Doc, our guide, shared information about the geology , botany, and indigenous history, as well as recommending other fun sites to explore in Sedona. My husband and I were the only people signed up for the tour that day, so there was plenty of time to ask questions and explore during our “private” tour. The hike to explore the region is not too difficult for active seniors, but would also be fun in a family group. The jeep ride was all on paved or gravel surfaces. Walking sticks and water were provided. Doc even took a small detour on the way back to show us how to get to the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, after we expressed an interest in visiting it. One of the most interesting activities we did in Sedona. Doc was an exceptional guide.
Great narration and points of interest on the way to and from the actual site in the Jeep as well as during the actual site tour. This is the only tour operator with permission to the private land where the site is located — so no other distractions while on the tour.
Our Jeep tour guide was Joe and he was great! Thanks Joe for making it our tour special! We will definitely be back and recommend this to our friends. 🙏🏻👌🏻🙏🏻
We were fortunate to book this tour at a very busy time in Sedona. We were even more fortunate to have JC as our driver/guide. He was knowledgeable and very conversant on the artifacts and petroglyphs of the private area we hiked. It was an educational and rewarding experience. Thanks!
JC was a great guide! We learned a lot and the hike was rugged and beautiful. Kids really enjoyed it, too!
Bob, our guide, was wonderful. He was the best part of our trip. He shared local history and helped us appreciate the significance of the ancient cultures. Ask for Bob if you go.
My husband and I had a wonderful and fun Sedona Archaeology Hiking Tour! Out guide Wyatt was very knowledgeable and we both would recommend him as your guide! This was the first time we have taken a tour like this and we hope to do it again in the future!
Wasn’t sure what to expect but we saw some petroglyphs and did moderate hiking. Our tour guide, CK, was very pleasant and provided a lot of information about the area and the history of the petroglyphs. Overall a very enjoyable tour and day.
Beau, our guide walked us through a deserted location that had pit dwellings and petroglyphs from a pre-history people. The hike was both spiritual and informative. We are grateful to Beau who patiently answered every question and coaxed me through some pretty rough terrain. I was happy to have long pants and hiking boots, as these trails really haven’t been used very much. The shaded level walk along the creek was our reward, and the whole experience is one we will cherish.
The staff at SJT was great, they were very knowledgeable and helpful in helping us decide what tour would best suit us. Our Guide John was awesome, he was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. It was like going on a journey with a friend. He made us very comfortable, had water for us and was super patient as we had a 3yo in tow who insisted on walking on her own. He gave us so much information about the Native Americans whom dwelled in the area and showed us so many cool petroglyphs, and tools left behind by the inhabitants. We highly recommend this tour, and of course John as your guide.
If you have any interest in Native American history and culture, then this is a “Must Do” during your trip to Sedona. You ride to the site in a BEAST of a specially modified Jeep Gladiator that provides not only a safe and comfortable ride, but allows 360 viewing of everything along the way. If you get a little chilled, the guide will pass out some blankets and turn on the heat! Lea was our phenomenal guide. She possessed an amazing amount of knowledge about the petroglyphs, pueblo ruins, geology, and native culture. She also possessed a wealth of knowledge about how the local flora and fauna was utilized by the ancient people that inhabited the area. This is a private site and only available to Arizona Safari Jeep tours. There are no crowds of people milling about. You will have plenty of time to take photographs and ask questions. There are artifacts laying around everywhere, but per Arizona/Federal Law, they must be left undisturbed and our guide made this very clear. The site is readily accessible for most people, but not those with really small children (ie strollers) or physical disabilities. This tour is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. The folks at Arizona Safari Jeep Tours make sure it is a safe and enjoyable experience.
C.K., our guide, led our family to one Pueblo ruin, and pointed out numerous petroglyphs and artifacts near Sedona. It was an awesome experience! Throughout, C.K. gave thorough accounts of the area's geology, indigenous history, and modern-day points of interest. The hike was low intensity, but did involve some climbing over rocks to see petroglyph. My 8 year old kid and out-of-shape self handled it just fine. If you are interested in respectfully exploring native sites off the beaten path, I highly recommend this tour and tour company!
Our guide was well spoken, polite, and knowledgeable. The hike isn’t for physically unstable people but not too difficult if you are used to hiking or even walking regularly. Joe shared quite a bit of interesting information and brought us to very cool places. We never felt rushed either. Our guide was Joe was great ask for him. Brad & Lori from Connecticut
The sites we visited were absolutely amazing to see how our ancient ancestors used everything in their environment to live and survive. Our guide, John was very knowledgeable and interesting! He made the tour fabulous!!!!
We met our guide, like me another Joe, and off we went. We were in Arizona for our sons high school graduation prize. We were accompanied with our sons best friend and his godmother. I will admit we were a bit taken aback by the actual "Dry heat" level but Joe was good in explaining the tour and making sure we understood hydration before we left. The drive was short to the hike site. I will not give away too much. There were a variety of terrains and some that were a bit surprising. Joe kept the tour interesting and entertaining at the same time. While also doing the things that assured us of a safe and fun hike. If we go back and take another tour would ask for him by name.
This was an amazing tour. Full of information and sites that showcased Sedona’s geologic wonders, vortex energy and the Native American history/culture. Joe was a great guide!! His knowledge of the geologic story that is Sedona, made this area come alive. He was equally adept at giving a true window into the Native American culture, pointing out petroglyphs, mortar/pestles and grinding stone relics to mention a few. He also gave us a sneak peak into the mysterious vortex energy Sedona is so we’ll know for! This is one of the best activities we did, but it is moderately strenuous and requires good ankles (I can says this truthfully as I was the weak link in my group as it came to fitness and ankle stability - but got a “ you did great” from Joe based on my answered to his pre hike questions!!! A must do and a great family run company!!
Our tour guide, Joe, was extremely knowledgeable, especially regarding geology and local history. It was a short hike, taken slowly over some rough trail. Joe explained thoroughly before starting so we knew what to expect. A terrific experience.
Joe was our tour guide and was awesome! Very knowledgeable and down to Earth. Family owned company that cares about your experience. The safari Gladiator Jeep definitely trumps Pink Jeep.
Our guide Lea was great, she seemed to know a lot about everything on the hike. I was amazed to know that she did had to hike this trail several times a day. Although 4 miles doesn't seem like much, doing it multiple times a day is amazing. Great Job Lea, We enjoyed every minute...
We did the early morning hiking tour to an incredible site of a Sinaguan Pueblo. Our guide Bo Montenegro was very knowledgeable and presented such an interesting look into life at this site a few thousand years ago. It is located on private property that was being developed into homes a few years ago when they came upon these ruins and evidence of a Native American society, and then of course they stopped the work. About 2.5 hours long, and two miles, along the way Bo pointed out all kinds of clues as to their life, including grinding stones, hundreds of pictographs and rock art, a birthing rock, a gorgeous flowing creek and obvious planting areas, the pit houses similar to Tutzigoot, and so many stories and fascinating facts along the way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! And ask for Bo- the best driver and guide in Sedona!
JC was a fantastic guide for our tour. We had a great drive out to the place where we began our hike because JC gave so much information on the area and everything we passed. He answered all the questions we threw at him. Once we got to the hike he went at a pace that was appropriate for the children on the tour and me with my not so great knees. He had hiking sticks for us to use which was very helpful on the inclines, I would never have thought to bring one. The details of the geography and history was so interesting in the way JC delivered the information to us. We learned so much about the people who have lived there over the past millennium. We even saw a baby rattlesnake! It was a great part of our trip to Sedona!
Doc was a wealth of knowledge. Great for kids and adults alike! Very interesting local information and insights on the archaeological site.
This was one of the most memorable and unique and special tours I have ever taken!!! JC was so knowledgable, took us to the energy vortex canters and helped us meditate and was just such a special and incredible guide!!! Made my experience in Sedona unforgettable, special and memorable!!! Thank you JC!!! It even helped me heal my soul and energies!! One of the best tours of my life!!
JC our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the geology, native Americans, plants, trees, wildlife and folklore. I learned so much more than if I had hiked without a guide. Found tracks of the legendary javelinas. Dwellings the native Americans lived in thousands of years ago still exist.
We had a wonderful tour with Lea. She is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and interesting. She covered many topics and occasionally injected humor into the conversation.
This was a cool, unique tour! Our guide, Wyatt was knowledgeable on the local history and Native American customs in the area and was not only a great storyteller but hilarious during our trip. This tour was super interesting and fun along with being entertaining due to our great guide! Would highly recommend if you are in the area and are looking for something unique.
Such a cool experience! One we will remember forever! Our tour guide John was more than amazing! He even gave us a hiking trail to take (not well known) which was the best hike we had ever done. He was enjoyable to talk to and listen to.
My family was unable to go on this tour. :( My husband woke up the morning of with severe back spasms and passed a kidney stone the day of the hike. Next time we are in Sedona, we will make sure to look you up. We were very disappointed that we couldn't attend. Thank you.
