I've done tours in different states/countries and Detours is top-notch. Rachel, our planner, was super friendly, knowledgeable, flexible and a pleasure to work with. Our group of 8 appreciated our hotel pickup in Scottsdale in a comfortable Mercedes van with a cooler of water bottles. We thoroughly enjoyed Hyun, our tour guide, as he comfortably wove facts and experiences together during the long off-and-on rainy ride to the GC and answered our many questions. He was a relaxed professional yet a careful driver and planned plenty of rest stops along the way. Seeing the GC was a "bucket list" experience and for one female in our group, it was truly emotional. Hyun's knowledge enriched us and we are better for it. We all soaked up the information. Our group of 60 year olds also had fun listening to Hyun's 70's music playlist here and there :). And as silly as it may seem, Detours is the only tour company I know that provides trash bags for empty coffee cups and car trash -- so smart. I would recommend Detours to anyone who wants to visit the GC and not have to rent a car. We will definitely work with Detours again the next time we're in Scottsdale!

Our family did a private tour of the Grand Canyon with Mark H. Mark was a pleasure to ride with and he provided a great deal of background (history and geology) for the sights during the trip and kept us all very captivated. He navigated the park much more efficiently than we could have by ourselves, and made the trip more enjoyable than it would’ve been had we gone alone or in a big tour.

A great day trip to see the Grand Canyon, followed by stop off in Sedona and Bell Rock. Mark H was our guide. He was very informative in a fun and easy way. Passing through the Navajo Nation was very interesting and we stopped to shop at the Cameron Trading post. We entered the National Park by the East gate and spent about 2 hrs. enjoying the beautiful Grand Canyon. Many pictures were taken!! We then headed south to Sedona. Riding through the canyon was also beautiful. We stopped to eat and headed to Bell Rock for more pictures. As we headed back to Scottsdale, we enjoyed music and nice conversation among our new friends. The whole experience was very good. It was a busy day for two older people [70’s] but a wonderful way to experience one of the most beautiful places on our country.

This entire experience from start to finish was top notch. When I called to set up with questions I got excellent service and all my questions answered. We were picked up from Scottsdale.Our driver Bruce was incredibly knowledgeable, calm and all around the perfect guide. He picked us up from our air bnb and had all the stops perfectly planned. We learned about Arizona, the Grand Canyon, cacti, Native American culture, etc. Bruce is an awesome driver and teacher! The car was new, clean, comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about this tour and our perfect day visiting the GC. All we had to worry about was taking incredible pictures from the best locations that Bruce knew to go to. Worth every penny!!

We booked a private tour of the Grand Canyon for our group of nine with Aldo. He was very informative, and we appreciated many of the facts and insights he shared about the area. During the tour, however, several things made some members of our group feel uneasy. Aldo mentioned that he had been called in to work on his birthday, which made us feel somewhat guilty, though he said he did not mind. He also shared that he was about to be deployed for military service very soon. At different times, he mentioned differing deployment locations to different people, and at one point said he expected to deploy Monday, but later said he would be working Monday. These inconsistencies left us unsure about the accuracy of what he was telling us. At the beginning of the tour, he suggested we enter the park through the East entrance instead of the South entrance that had been originally planned. He explained that the scenery would be the same and that the drive would be more beautiful from the East side. He told us the South entrance had a three-hour wait and repeatedly showed us live camera footage on his phone (while driving) to confirm this. We agreed to the change and did enjoy the Canyone. We later saw the South was far more breathtaking. While driving he also read other text messages on his phone and occasionally complained about other drivers. He also told us that he is required to rest a certain number of hours between trips or he would receive a $1,600 fine and his company would also be fined. He said this to ensure we finished on time with our tour. After looking into this policy, we were unable to find any state regulations or fines that existed in Arizona, which again made us question the accuracy of the information he shared. Aldo was always polite to us, but several members of our group felt uncomfortable with the number of inconsistencies and personal stories that seemed to come up, which at times felt like an attempt to encourage larger tips. There were also some political viewpoints stated (by him, unprovoked) during the drive (including statements about Epstein being alive in Jerusalem) and photos shown from his phone while he was driving, which did not feel appropriate for a tour setting. Unfortunately, the moment that nearly spoiled the experience came at the end of the tour. As we handed him our tips outside our Airbnb, he counted them in front of the group. Several members of our group were older and did not realize that a 20% tip is customary. After counting the tips, he addressed the group in a scolding tone and said he was disappointed in the amount he received, then waited outside while some people went back in to get additional cash. Had he explained a customary gratuity earlier in the tour he would have avoided this very uncomfortable situation. Overall, the scenery and the Grand Canyon itself made for a wonderful trip, and Aldo clearly has strong knowledge of the area and good manners when interacting with guests. He made great recommendations for things to do in the area. However, the inconsistencies and the way the tip situation was handled left our group with a negative feeling afterward. We truly would have loved the tour if the experience had felt more straightforward and professional. After later speaking with another guide from the same company and discussing our experience and asking if some of these statements were true of Aldo, we felt our concerns were substantialed. It’s unfortunate, because Aldo’s knowledge of the area and ability to explain it were excellent. We just wish the experience had felt more honest throughout.

We had an amazing time! Jay was the perfect toast. He went above and beyond. We had to turn around and go back to Sedona because someone in our party left a purse there. He did not hesitate in the people in our bus were very kind and patient. I would highly recommend this to her. It was very educational and beautiful! Jay made it perfect.

What a special day! Our driver Hyun was knowledgeable, funny & an excellent safe driver-he truly made the trip wonderful. He created an incredible moment: he had us close our eyes and not look up till we reached the rim. The reveal was absolutely breathtaking; I almost cried! We traveled in a luxurious Lincoln Navigator Black Label, which made the scenic drive incredibly comfortable. Hyun also recommended the Maverick helicopter tour, which was nothing short of amazing!

We scheduled a private tour with Detours and this was an experience of a lifetime! Jordan was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable. We had a family of 8 and he tailored our trip to us and because we are Cars fans even showed us the city of Williams where they based the movie from. He knew how to get us through the entrance lines to the park quickly so we didn’t spend much time at all getting into the Grand Canyon. Jordan made so many excellent recommendations as to what to see and do along every stop on the trip. I think it is also worthy to mention that the booking process was seamless and they were also extremely accommodating. This exceeded every expectation I had and would highly recommend Jordan and this company for any tour. I will definitely use this company in the future!

A call to Detours inquiring about a group tour on a day when they were already fully booked resulted in them arranging a private tour priced only marginally above what the group tour would have cost. In addition, we were picked up at our Airbnb in Sedona and delivered back there after an amazing day at the Grand Canyon. They also arranged for the 2 of us who wanted a helicopter tour to have that added to the package. Our driver was knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating, and fun to travel with. He knew all the best overlooks for viewing the canyon and recommended restaurants, both in the park and back in Sedona after we were dropped back off at our Airbnb. Stellar experience!!
