Explore the most recent lava flow in Arizona as well as the unique landscape that is so one of a kind,
Nestled between the Painted Desert and ponderosa highlands of northern Arizona, Wupatki is a landscape of legacies. Ancient pueblos dot red-rock outcroppings across miles of prairie. Where food and water seem impossible to find, people built pueblos, raised families, farmed, traded, and thrived. Today, if you linger and listen, earth and artifacts whisper their stories to us still.
A break for lunch. As well as the best place to buy native art and see souviners.
Experience the perfect desert art pallet while traveling from Wupatki to Grand Canyon.
A view and experience the entire world has heard about, but taking the trip and seeing for yourself is an entirel new and mind boggling feeling and is difficult to take all in at once. Its an unforgettable time that shows us the immense size and and scale of earth, and ourselves.
Discuss the architecture and history of the tower while we enjoy our first Grand Canyon view.
Here we can see all the Geological layers of the Canyon, we can briefly discuss deposition, erosion, and the theory's how the Canyon formed.
This vista is located in the "Grand Canyon village". Its the shops, hotels, and major trail heads are located. Here we spend an hour, where you get some free time exploring the area on the Rim path.
Return trip back to Sedona is on a different route, continuing the scenery and touring. The ride back is 2.5 hours, with a bathroom stop.
Here is the best view of the River from the South Rim park boundaries, as well as still viewing the painted desert and East Rim of the Canyon

My sister and I did the Private Grand Canyon Ultimate Day Tour with Connor a few days ago. We have done several trips together around the world and have had great tours and guides on those trips, but this day spent with Connor is on a par with our favorite one in Egypt. It was awesome and an experience to remember – not just because of the amazing things we saw during the tour, but because of how great Connor is as a guide with the depth and breadth of his knowledge about the area, the geology, the natural history and the history about the past cultures who lived there. He is so familiar with the various sites and places to go, and he knows when and where to go to certain places, so we got the best views and without huge crowds. Most of the information was in his head, but he was also great at using the information he had to supplement what was available at the site’s descriptions – see pic. Connor typically starts his tours in Sedona, but we were staying in Flagstaff, and he was very willing to pick us up there. During the drives to all the various sites, Connor gave us so much good background and information, but he was also really fun to talk with about so many other topics. We all basically never stopped talking the whole trip! 😊 He took us to the best place (Cameron Trading Post) for lunch that also had a great shop attached with many beautiful authentic native American items for purchase. He also got us a card to get a 10% discount on what we bought. We of course took dozens of pictures, and most guides will take good pics of you, but Connor also had a great idea for a picture when we were at a site across the canyon from the Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower which I’ve attached. We each held up our hands and he captured the Watchtower in between our fingers as if we were holding it. If you’re considering tour options around the Grand Canyon and other surrounding sites, don’t hesitate at all to contact Connor to book your tour. He has many other options. He communicates very well with you ahead of time via email and is very easy to work with to plan the best for you. Thank you, Connor, for a wonderful addition to our Trips of a Lifetime!! Excellent tour with Connor who was both knowledgeable and personable. Great respect shown for native cultures. We saw and learned a lot. We were able to see a lot in a short period of time. The Grand Canyon was breathtaking.
We had a great day checking out three monuments and parks. My wife and I had driven ourselves there 25 years ago but I wanted to actually enjoy the ride this time, and have the benefit of a guide who could take us to the best stops. Connor was a wonderful guide. It was a long day but Connor was a fountain of information and kept the conversation and information coming. I’m a sponge for information so I probably asked a million questions but Connor was enthusiastic about archeology and geology and history and just kept answering everything. Even my wife, who hates long car rides, felt like it was worthwhile and she had learned a lot and that we saw a lot more than we had on our previous self-guided trip. The trip is well worth anyone’s time, and I have no doubt that we will consider a guided trip to the petrified forest when we inevitably return in 5 years or so.
Wow what an amazing adventure we had. Connor was so knowledgeable, kind and knew all the beautiful spots. A trip of a lifetime! We loved the private car, pick up from our Sedona short term rental and learning so much along the way. If you’re on the fence go with this company they will not disappoint!
This was our first trip to the Grand Canyon and we were so pleased to have experienced it with our guide, Connor. His passion and respect for the land and its people was so appreciated! The day was well paced and filled with meaningful conversation! Worth every penny!
Connor gave my husband and I a spectacular Grand Canyon experience. He has deep knowledge of the geology and history of the area and provided us with insightful discussion about the local culture and flora. He’s passionate about his work, respectful and a conscientious driver! We highly recommend him and look forward to another tour when we return to Sedona. Doreen & Bill
Cooper is so knowledgeable about the history, geology and Native Americans. Of my first view of the Grand Canyon was amazing. I loved all the stops along the way. If you want a perfect tour Cooper is your guide.
Connor was extremely knowledgable of the area in addition to the Grand Canyon. He is an excellent tour guide. We would recommend this tour.
Connor was very knowledgeable and would not attempt to do this on our own. Worth every penny. Had a great time.
You will not regret either of these tours with Conner! My family of 5 took the Antelope Canyon full day tour (+ Glen Canyon Dam, Cameron Trading post and a bonus dinosaur track side trip) and the VIP Grand Canyon tour (+ Pueblo ruins and volcanic rock walk) and had an unforgettable time! Conner is so knowledgeable and shared so much about the ancient history, geology, the formations of the canyons, as well as information about the flora and fauna in the areas we drove through . The drives were long but Conner always kept us entertained! Would recommend him highly to any one who wants a once in a lifetime experience!!
Wow!!!! There is no way to describe how fabulous Connor was and how much we enjoyed this tour!!! Our daughter and her 16 year old twins were with us. It was hard for them to imagine being in a van for 11 hours to see the Grand Canyon. They/we had no idea what all there was to see on the drive from Sedona. We had driven to Antelope Canyon the day before on our own. We saw beautiful sites but no idea WHAT it was we were seeing. Connor described what we were seeing, history behind it and opened our eyes to just how amazing Arizona is. The pictures we took and Connor took of us, will be treasured forever. My husband and I saw the Grand Canyon 13 years ago. We did not have a guide. It was beautiful to see but we had no idea what we were looking at. Don’t make that mistake. If you take the time to go, see it the right way. We took the same group to Jackson Hole two years ago. They compared the trips many times during the week. Connor made it an easy choice to have Sedona and the Grand Canyon win out. Connor…from the bottom of our Alabama (War Eagle) hearts…thank you for an amazing experience.
It was all fabulous and very educational. Conner was our tour guide. He was very personable, gave us a wealth of information and took us places outside of the ordinary. We will definitely recommend him.
Really enjoyed our Grand Canyon tour with Connor. He was professional, knowledgable and easy to spend time with. His reverence for the Grand Canyon was wonderful and he made our day quite special. Connor is easy to work with and I recommend his tour.
Amazing tour! It was the best way to spend my husband's birthday. Spectacular views with amazing people. Thank you!
My wife and took 3 full day private tours with Conner and Dynamic Journey Tours. I have previously reviewed DJT's Ultimate Arizona Petrified Forest and Painted Desert Tour which was simply fabulous. Conner's Ultimate Grand Canyon Tour was equally wonderful. These are the words we would use to describe Conner: Friendly, Engaging, Entertaining, Courteous, Extremely Knowledgeable, Accommodating, Punctual, Responsible and Responsive. Conner is also a safe, excellent driver, and his van is very clean and well kept. Conner is really the "ultimate tour guide." As for the tour itself, we had an awesome experience exploring one of the wonders of nature, the Grand Canyon. The tour started with a trip to Sunset Volcano Crater where you can walk on and touch the old lava flows. Next was an educational journey to visit ancient Native American ruins at Wupatki National Monument. After a delicious lunch at the Cameron Trading Post, it was on to the Grand Canyon. Conner led us to the best viewing points along the canyon rim to take in the expansive views. He purposely timed our visit to the gradual setting of the sun so that the lighting was optimal. All in all, we had a memorable experience. The last tour we took with Conner is not listed but was a specially arranged full day trip to Monument Valley in Northern Arizona. This is where all the iconic scenery in the old Western movies was shot. Fabulous scenery and another unforgettable experience. We would whole-hearted recommend taking a tour with Conner and DJT. His tours are well planned, well executed, and well paced. We saw everything we wanted to see and never felt rushed. He helped take great photos for us when requested. He really met and exceeded all of our expectations in every way.
We booked this tour looking for a full day experience and were amazed with the breadth and depth of Connors knowledge about the land. He really took his time to go into detail about the spiritual background of the Grand Canyon, understood indigenous people lore, and brought it back to life for our family to understand. Walking on the hardened lava flow at Sunset crater was a surreal experience, and was worth it to get a feel for why people left the area. Seeing the remains at Wupatki was also an interesting look into the Pueblo culture and the ways their communities were built. We had kids, ages 9, 12, and 14, and he took pit stops along the way for lunch, and snacks. All in all, Connor was the best part of this experience, and with a private tour you go at your own pace, and can spend as much or as little time as you want at each stop.
We spent two memorable September days exploring the wonders of northern Arizona with Conner as our guide. At his suggestion, we booked the Horseshoe Bend and Upper Antelope Canyon Tour for Day 1, and saved the Ultimate Grand Canyon Tour for Day 2. Great call. The scenery is as advertised, but what made the trip 5-Star was the amazing Conner. Knowledgeable, informative, personable, attentive; like having a good friend show you around his favorite places. If you're looking for a small group or private tour experince with a personal touch, this is it!!!
Excellent tour, Ultimate Grand Canyon Private Day Tour, and excellent guide Conner! We saw Oak Creek Canyon, Sunset Crater, Pueblos at Wupatki National Monument, and more. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the area, and shared with us a lot of history of the region, including Sedona, the Navajo Nation as well as the above sites that we saw. We had a really great day and learned so much of the area, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon was awesome! I would highly recommend this tour.
Connor was amazing! His knowledge of the area was extensive. Very friendly and good with kids. The tour took our breath away. We highly recommend this tour, well worth the money! If we are ever in this area again, we will definitely look him up for other tours. Thanks again Connor, we had an awesome time.
This was a truly magical tour! Connor is an incredibly knowledgeable guide and such a kind, vibrant & happy soul. His love for the land and his passion for what he does made us feel like we belong here. We were very impressed with how much he knows about the area and its history. Every minute of this tour was bliss, an experience that will be with us forever. For anyone not sure about which tour to pick, let this be your absolute sign that this is the way to go. You will not regret it. Thank you, Connor, for an unforgettable experience!
This was everything we hoped for and more. As noted by others Connor is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, very personable, and excellent company! His expertise was very much appreciated. Highly recommended all around!
Connor is a top notch, courteous and very well informed guide. His communication pre-trip was excellent. We departed Sedona for the Grand Canyon in a meticulously clean and well maintained Honda van. Connor shared his knowledge of the area, identified points of interest along the way and was genuinely engaged throughout the day. Our lunch was delightful and the Grand Canyon was incredible! Connor took care of all details and logistics, so all we had to do was enjoy the awesome views. This trip was taken with my 85 year old mother, she was completely comfortable and Connor tailored the trip to make sure the pace and terrain was manageable for her. Truly an incredible day! You will not be disappointed. Fantastic tour with a kind, smart and articulate guide.
The knowledge of our Tour guide, Conor was the most important part. He really knows the history and took us to the best places of interest. We are "senior" citizens and he was kind and helpful with our questions as well as our physical well-being. He is awesome!
This was a great private Grand Canyon tour. Connor really knows what he’s doing and ran an incredible tour. Our kids enjoyed it my wife and I enjoyed it and we learned a lot. We had all of everything to ourselves. Do this tour!
Our private day trip tour to the Grand Canyon from Sedona was exactly what we wanted...getting to see the incredible beauty of the area without the aggravation of navigating unknown roads, National Parks, and cultural sites. We truly feel that our guide allowed us to get the full experience in the minimal amount of time we had.
Conner is extremely knowledgeable about the Canyon and was very flexible in accommodating our schedule.
I just expected to have a sightseeing tour and the driving done for us. But there was so much more than that. We explored some ruins, walked on hardened volcano lava, even lunch was fun at the trading post. Plus the Grand canyon and all the geology we learned, with the natives point of view. I couldn't ask for more!
Wow!...where to start? ultimately seeing the Grand Canyon was a great part of the tour, but finding out how it was made, where and when it all started, was equally as inspiring. The van we rode in was clean, modern and well equipped. The guide, Conner...was very knowledgeable of the vast history or the entire area to include the geology, topography and the history of the people who inhabited the region thousands of years before western European influence. I'm so glad we did a tour instead of just driving around and trying to find the good spots on our own. I highly recommend Dynamic Journey Tours to get the most out of your Grand Canyon experience, and you may just get a lesson on the Native American spiritualism that permeates the entire region, included in the cost.
Superior tour. En route to GC, Connor brought us to many remarkable sites we would not have known to visit. He is a wonderfully informed and thoughtful person.
My boyfriend and I booked this tour as part of a National parks trip we are taking throughout Arizona and Utah. Normally solo adventurers, we enjoyed the private aspect of this tour and the ability to tailor the itinerary to our personal preferences. Connor was our guide and his vast knowledge of Arizona’s geology and topography was nothing short of impressive - I can’t recall a single question that he couldn’t answer. I’d recommend this tour and Connor to anyone looking to fully appreciate all that is the Grand Canyon and it’s unbelievable history.
Chad is AMAZING! We’re so thankful we did this tour - he knows every secret to avoiding crowds. Great!!
We’ve lived in Cottonwood for over five years and have never ventured to the Grand Canyon. My husband booked the tour as my 70th birthday present. Since I have mobility issues (arthritic hips and need to use a cane), I was relieved that the guide was so caring and patient with my special needs. The trip was purely magnificent and the guide had a wicked sense of humor. We plan on taking the trip again next spring when our daughter’s family comes to visit. I know my three teenaged grandsons will enjoy it because they love to hike.
Not only did we get a private tour for myself and my 3 friends, but Chad blew my mind time and time again with his knowledge kc the grand canyon. A human encyclopedia as well as fun and engaging!
Visiting the Grand Canyon with Chad as my guide was an experience of a lifetime! His engaging conversations and knowledge about the land made the trip unforgettable. I learned so much and Chad knew all the best places to stop and explore that wasn't overwhelmed by tourists. He was professional yet so personable and made it easy to relax and enjoy the ride. I couldn't be happier with my choice and can't recommend this tour company enough!!
I loved the one-on-one attention to detail. My tour and hike were customized to my interests. My tour guide was personable and his knowledge of the area was impressive. I will be going back for another tour next time I am traveling to AZ. Worth the money!
The staff was beyond impressive. Our guide was quite knowledgeable about the area and it’s history. We had an amazing time learning about the flora and fauna. I will definitely be recommend this company to friends and family.
