Russel was awesome and very entertaining and very knowledgeable about the crater and made the tour interactive and informative. I would recommend taking the kiddos out or your parents to this place very family friendly and a good deal for your price the tour was only 45 minutes and it was free and admission prices were very fair. I would say that the overall vibe of the place was very family friendly.

Walnut Canyon has a long human history. Artifacts show that Archaic peoples, who traveled throughout the Southwest thousands of years ago, occupied the canyon at times. Later came the first permanent inhabitants, who flourished in the region from about C.E. 600 until 1400. You now can see the Monument in a few ways; Take in expansive views of Walnut Canyon and see cliff dwellings from a distance from the visitor center's two observation points or take one of the two trails to get close to the ancient dwellings. Rim Trail is 0.7 mile or about 30 minutes or the Island Trail which is 1 mile and takes about an hour.
Meteor Crater, also called Barringer Crater, is a meteorite impact crater approximately 37 miles east of Flagstaff and 18 miles west of Winslow. During the 1960s & 1970s, NASA astronauts trained in the crater to prepare for the Apollo missions to the Moon. The Meteor Crater is one of the few places on earth that is an exposed, & still fully intact, meteorite impact site that would emulate the surface of the moon. In 1984 the John Carpenter movie Starman with Jeff Bridges did some filming here. Also visit the Barringer Space Museum. A walk out on the viewing platform is the best way to view the crater.
Jackson Browne and Glen Frey of the Eagles wrote a song called "Take It Easy" in 1972, one of the popular lines in the song goes, "Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona". In 1999, in response to the lyrics that made it famous, the city of Winslow erected a life-size bronze statue and mural commemorating the song, then in 2016 after Frey's passing a life-sized statue of of him was added to the Standin' on the Corner Park. So as we stop in Winslow for our lunch we can take the opportunity to snap a photo at this world famous location. Also in town is the last Harvey House (La Posada Hotel), designed by Mary Colter, opened in 1930. The hotel closed in 1957 and was used by the Santa Fe Railway for offices. The railroad abandoned La Posada in 1994 and announced plans to tear it down. It was bought, restored and now serves as a hotel. Lunch will be at the La Posada and is included in your tour fee (up to $20 per person).

Incredible site about a meteor hitting earth. What a huge impact. They have a nice visitor center with good information. We enjoyed our visit very much.
Todd did a great job in guiding the tour. The view was great and the restaurant was really interesting. The lunch really exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoyed something other than desert in Arizona.
Awesome!!! Our private tour with Jeremy was so informative and very interesting. I learned about the universe and all of its power. Totally worth the visit! Best tour guide ever…
From the breathtaking views to the exhilarating moments, every part of the tour was made better by the positive energy, deep knowledge and warm personality of our tour guide Todd. Thank you Todd, you rock !
Walnut Canyon and its history were amazing to see and learn. I had long wanted to see Meteor Crater. Both seeing the site of the ancient impact and learning the stories about it since were great.
I went without any expectations and was blown away. This was done so well. Many interactive experiences. I learned a lot about space. I had no idea the largest impact crater in the world was here in Arizona! The music as you walk in was perfect. They have a short movie and a 4 D experience. A place to have a drink as well. I am so glad I went. $29 for adults and $27 for seniors.❤️❤️❤️🌍
This was a private tour - just Todd and my husband and I. Very comfortable vehicle and Todd knew where and when to direct us as our guide without joining our experience. We first got a choice of walking the 1 hour Walnut Canyon or just look from the 3-4 look out points above. We did the walk comfortably although there are a lot of steps. We then went to Meteor Crater and had plenty of time to see the short film and view and photograph the amazing crater. Lastly lunch was at the very historic La Pasado Hotel before “standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona” … as you do!! Highly recommend.
Everything about our 12+hours day was amazing. Todd communicated with us before our trip and picked us up at our hotel on time and in a clean and spacious F150 crew cab. Our first stop was Walnut Canyon. This is a place we would not have know about unless we took this tour. It was beautiful, amazing and historical. Todd knew a lot about the site. Next we went to The Meteor Crater. Another absolutely amazing destination. Todd shared many details about it as well. Lunch was at historical Las Posadas. Very cool having lunch at a Harvey's Restaurant location. Again Todd was very knowledgeable. Snapped pictures and shopped at "THE corner in Winslow Arizona"!!! The entire trip was catered to my husband and me, since it was a private tour. We spent as long as we wanted at every destination and never felt rushed. Todd was a wonderful conversationalist and oh so knowledgeable. He even gave us ideas of places we could go on other days of our trip. And as we loved this tour so much we took his suggestion and was not disappointed! I highly recommend HAT to anyone coming to the Phoenix area. When we come back we will be using HAT again. Thanks again Todd!
All day private tour to Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon and Winslow. Todd was a great conversationalist, providing great stories and information about sites along the way. Did a circle route from our hotel pick up in Scottsdale; scenery was amazing! Would highly recommend this tour and guide. Fantastic!
The views were awesome Todd was our guide he was great and informative. Had a good lunch at La Posada Hotel which was really good. The crater was great also!
Was great tour Todd was awesome! Had a blast got to see the meteor crater walnut canyon and went to Winslow
We were picked up on time at our hotel in a Ford F150 crewcab truck. Vehicle was very clean and comfortable. Our guide Todd was excellent. He provided some good information about the sites and answered all our questions. We never felt rushed. Our first stop was Walnut Canyon National Monument. After the canyon we went to Meteor Crater which was very interesting. Our last stop was at La Posada hotel for lunch and food was excellent. We made a stop for photos on the corner in Winslow then headed back. Todd was an excellent driver and guide. We highly recommend this company and tour.
I loved both the Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon. The Meteor Crater was very interesting and huge. I would highly recommend you visit. Walnut Canyon was just breathtakingly beautiful. Nestled deep in pine trees, it surprised me. Not your typical dessert area. Without the assistance of HAT, we would never have visited. Todd did an excellent job of planning and executing our trip. He is very knowledgeable about the area and its history. He made it even more enjoyable. We will be going back. See you soon, Todd.
Todd was an excellent guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon, along with a visit for lunch to the beautiful and historic La Posada Hotel in Winslow and their Turquoise Room restaurant. We also got to stand on the "Corner in Winslow AZ" from the famous song. What a treat! Meteor Crater was an astonishment to us - this big crater out in the middle of the high desert and we really enjoyed walking to the overlooks at the crater. From the stark plains, we then visited Walnut Canyon with it's immense forest of pine trees and cliff dwellings. We had the good fortune to run into a herd of elk crossing the road into Walnut Canyon National Monument. All in all, a very special day! This is our second tour with this guide - we also went to Tombstone with them a while ago and we'll have Todd take us on other tours when we return to Phoenix and Arizona.
Thanks to Todd and his itinerary for this incredible tour, I just added another day to my list of favorite travel experiences. First, I want to thank Todd for organizing this tour. The three members of our group, which included my husband and sister, were not at all familiar with Walnut Canyon or Meteor Crater, so it was terrific to be introduced to them, their history, and beauty. The stop in Winslow was the ultimate tourist experience. We enjoy trying out beautiful hotels and properties, and the La Posada property and Turquoise Room dining room did not disappoint. Todd was friendly, informative, and courteous—not only the consummate tour guide professional, but an enjoyable companion to spend the day with. His passion for Arizona and in sharing its stunning sights was evident from hotel pick-up to drop-off. I cannot give Todd or this tour high enough marks and am immeasurably grateful to him and his company for this extraordinary and memorable day.
Thanks so much Todd for the 5 amazing days that you put together for us. We saw everything we hoped to and more. Todd was a fantastic guide with a true passion for Arizona. His knowledge of all the sites we went was very thorough and his enthusiasm was great. We saw Meteor Crater, Winslow Arizona, Montezuma's Castle, Saguaro National Park, Tombstone and so, so much more. Highly recommended Todd and his company. His vehicle was extremely comfortable. He was a fantastic driver too
Great day trip from Phoenix with Historic Arizona Tours that included lunch and a number of stops. Beautiful scenery and the trip comes back for most of the trip on a different route which really adds to the day and viewing.
We had an amazing time with Todd exploring the Walnut Canyon, Flagstaff area and the surreal Meteor Crater. Absolutely beautiful scenery and Todd was great and very informative along the way!! I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Northern Arizona and We would definitely return and book another tour in the future.
I loved the history and Discovery Interactive Museum at the Meteor Crater site. I loved the beauty and character of Posada restraurant in Winslow. What an interesting town. The Walnut Canyon was interesting with informative readings
The Meteor Crater was amazing. Starman is one of my all time favorite movies. The Apollo Astronauts trained here for their moon landings. I'm so glad I was able to take this tour. And the tour to Walnut Canyon is not to be missed. Don't forget Winslow Arizona; the town made popular by the Eagles song "Take It Easy ". I loved each part of this tour and would take it again and again. Be sure to ask for Todd. He was the best tour guide.
Walnut Canyon was probably our favorite stop, and it was a great workout! The lunch stop in Winslow was excellent, definitely try the prickly pear lemonade and gelato. Todd was patient and super knowledgeable about the area, he even gave us some great ideas of things to do in Arizona on our next trip! Overall, we had a great day and enjoyed some beautiful scenery on the drive as well.
Todd was a great guide during our fabulous walk in Walnut Canyon, followed by the discovery of a meteorite crater and finally the visit to the town of Winslow. Todd is happy to take photos of you and tells a few anecdotes along the way or on site. I recommend this excursion for those who want to discover a little more of Arizona
