Great experience. Would recommend booking directly through Arizona Climbing guides though. Makes the communication easier. Very professional guide. A very worth while thing to experience.

As we were staying over an hour away from the meeting site, we originally booked a 10:30 time slot to avoid being rushed. Our guide, Dylan from Arizona Climbing Guides, reached out to us two days prior and asked if we would be willing to do the 8:00 am slot instead. To beat the potential heat, we agreed and it was a good choice. Though conditions on the drive up were not ideal (very thick clouds/fog), we still made the meeting point on time. Almost as if adding a little drama to the experience (lol!), the fast-moving foggy conditions would give us only brief peeks of the vista, (and what we were repelling into!) but by the end of our two-hour time, the sun revealed the stunning views all around us. Beautiful! Huge shout out to Dylan who was encouraging, patient and professional, making sure as complete novices that we were comfortable with all the steps before proceeding. Wanted to mention the excursion title and "what's included" description states snacks and water will be provided, however, we were asked to bring our own so maybe that has changed recently? Did not deter us in the slightest though from having a great experience and would recommend it!
We did this a year ago and had to go again! This is a fun and exciting confidence builder. We booked through trusty Tripadvisor and all communication with our guide was by text or email. Save time by completing online waivers in advance. All gear is provided, but you may want to bring gloves because if you go fast, the ropes heat up quickly. Dylan is a competent, knowledgeable, and fun guide. This is a safe activity and we were at ease the whole time. We got to the meeting spot early and started 5 minutes early and ended 25 minutes late, but it was agreed upon during the tour and no extra charge. We did three rappels, each one a little harder. Dylan fully explained each step of the entire process and we were totally comfortable the entire time. We're already planning to bring our three kids next year. Unbelievable views and go at your own pace. No pressure. Dylan provided a lot of information about geology, animals, and vegetation, as well as aea history. We even got extra snacks at the end. Do not miss this opportunity! You can do it!! Really! You can visit the outhouses in between rappells if needed. Free parking. Dylan is calm the entire time and checks with you often to make sure you're comfortable in every way. He even takes pix for you and sends them right after the tour. No charge for that.
This was the highlight of our trip! Both the adults and teens had an amazing time trying something new. Dylan reached out the day before our trip and we were able to iron out all the details - the communication was great and we knew exactly what to expect. We had gorgeous weather and even though several other groups/guides were around, we didn’t feel crowded or rushed. This was such a wonderful experience all around. 10/10
We had an absolutely amazing experience rappelling thanks to our guide, Jayci! There were six of us in the group, and none of us had ever done anything like this before—half of us were honestly pretty terrified going in. Jayci was incredible from start to finish. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt safe and confident every step of the way. His calm and reassuring attitude made such a huge difference, especially for those of us who were nervous. He took the time to explain everything clearly and never made anyone feel rushed or uncomfortable. By the end of the experience, we were all so proud of ourselves—and it’s 100% because of Jayci’s guidance and support. If you’re considering rappelling, we highly recommend going with him. Truly a 5-star experience!
My rappelling excursion with Arizona Climbing Guides was phenomenal from start to finish! My guide was not only highly skilled and professional but also incredibly friendly, supportive, and genuinely fun to spend the day with. He made sure I felt completely safe and confident every step of the way, which was especially reassuring as a first-timer. Rappelling down the stunning cliffs of Mt. Lemmon in Tucson was nothing short of breathtaking. The scenery, with its majestic cliffs and lush greenery, is worth the trip, but combined with the adrenaline rush of descending the rock face, it makes for an unforgettable adventure. The instructions were clear, easy to follow, and perfectly paced for beginners like me. If you’re visiting Tucson, Arizona, and looking for a unique outdoor adventure — whether you’re a thrill-seeker or just curious to try something new — I can’t recommend this experience enough. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
AWESOME! DO THIS!!! This is unique, fun, and safe! We booked online for 8am when it was coolest, but somehow when our online waivers arrived they said 10:30, but our hosts were able to still meet us at 8am. JC met us at Windy Point Vista, so you get to travel the Mt. Lemmon Scenic Byway to the meeting location, an added bonus. Windy Point has parking and rudimentary toilets. It's a short walk to the first rock. JC calmly and confidently explained what was happening, and he tests all the equipment personally on site. Rappellers have harnesses, helmets, and two lines for added safety. Everything is fully explained and all questions are satisfactorily answered before you go over the rock face. You're doing this yourself, and have complete control, but JC was watching us and had our back in case of a mishap (there were none). This activity is easy and confidence inspiring. Once you're at the bottom (65 feet for the first portion) you detach yourself and hike back up and go again. We rappelled off of three different cliffs. It was challenging and fun!. Water and health food store snacks are provided. The hike back up is more arduous than rappelling down. Great views. Wear sturdy footwear. I wore shorts, and I did scrape my calf, but not during the rappelling, it was of my own doing. I also knocked my head on a rock, but the helmet prevented injury, and again, it was of my own doing and I'm including this so that readers will take precautions. Pay attention to your surroundings. This truly is a safe activity. Our guide took pictures of us and air dropped them after. You get a lot for the price and we ran over time. We rappelled from three different faces, and I rappelled five times. 1-3 times is suggested, but if you're comfortable and move along you can fit more rappells in. Consider your fitness level. Hiking out is more strenuous than the rappelling. This is a very worthwhile, safe, fun, confidence building activity and I would do it again.
I was traveling for spring break with my 8 year old son and 11 year old daughter and we were looking for an adventure and a different way to experience the desert. After doing some research, I found the Arizona Climbing Guides website. I called them prior to booking to ask which tour would be best with my kids and the owner was so helpful. Once we got there, we had a great time. We felt safe, challenged and had so much fun.
The best guides in the Phoenix/Tuscon area, by far! My 9 yr old and I were in town and she mentioned she wanted to try climbing. Neither of us have EVER climbed anything besides an indoor place once and this far exceeded our expectations. They talked us through which place to go based on our skill level (none) and made me feel super comfortable booking it. Our guide was Jayci and he was so calm/helpful/knowledgable on where to take us and even just keeping us calm as we were climbing. Jayci made the experience so much more memorable. There were times when both of us were thinking "ok maybe I just quit" and he calmly explained pointers from the bottom and neither of us even ended up "falling" despite being certain we would, haha. Great company and I couldn't recommend them enough! Just book it!!
I had the most amazing experience with Arizona Climbing Guides! They were incredibly responsive and professional. I travelled to Tucson to climb and rappel. ACG picked me up from my hotel and dropped me back off safely at the end of the day. As a solo female traveler going up into the mountains , I felt extremely safe and comfortable throughout my experience. The rappelling was amazing but the big finale was climbing Hitchcock Pinocle. I am leaving this experience so inspired and ready for my next big adventure which will more than likely be ice climbing this winter with Arizona Climbing Guides. I highly recommend to solo females, families, first time or novice climbers.
The views were amazing. The photos taken were great. TJ our guide was awesome. He was on time and very professional. TJ was very confident and calm which encouraged my wife and myself. We are in our 60s. Recommend this great trip and memory to anyone. Young or old or in between. We are planning on doing a half day event in the future. Thx again TJ you and your services were great. Sincerely Paul and Renee Mix
TJ was awesome! Whether you had experience or not, he catered to all levels. This was the highlight of our trip! Highly recommend!
Enjoyed our first rappelling experience! Javan was an excellent guide, he was very knowledgeable and patient. Recommend bringing gloves.
Jay I was an excellent guide, patient and very experienced. First time for this activity for my son and I and we felt as though we were in good hands! Are definitely going to do this again!
Jacyi was an amazing guide! He was very encouraging for us first timers but was taught basic technique of rappelling. Highly recommend, the first few steps are scary but then its nothing but fun!
If you’re interested in an adventure that pushes you safely outside your comfort zone for an experience you won’t forget, Jayci’s your guy. He was a fun, patient and knowledgeable guide on this rappelling trip down Tanque Verde Falls. I’m a very novice climber and never felt like I was left behind. The trip started and ended with incredible views, and there was minimal hiking. I would do this again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend Jayci and his guides!
If humans and rocks are like living in the edge, this two hours adventure is for you. Land on safe grounds in the heart of a magnificient canyon with well experienced guide. Thank you Jaycie and your staff for such a day in safety and fun.
Great advenrure with amazing guide. Safety first and lots of fun during the whole exprience. A day you will remember for a lifetime for the landscape and the humans with whom you will bound
We have hired this company during our last visit in Tucson. The guide was very professional and friendly, and we felt safe the whole time. We had a great experience and would go out with them again!
