The Westin Kierland Resort And Spa

We have been staying at this resort for the past five years, and we absolutely love it! The beds are so comfortable, and the pillows are heavenly! Every year, the staff goes above and beyond to accommodate us and make our stay wonderful. The valet team deserves a special shoutout too—they are always so welcoming and helpful! The pools are beautiful, and the entire property is consistently clean and well cared for. In five years of staying here, we have never had an issue. It’s a place we look forward to returning to, and we already plan to come back again! If you’re considering this resort, give it a try!

We booked four nights at the Westin after hearing great things about the resort. We were especially looking forward to the lazy river. Instead, we checked out after one night and moved to another hotel. We were not informed of any renovations when we booked. The Reno’s apparently started a few weeks ago. When we arrived, the main entrance was boarded off and we were directed around the back to a temporary check-in area. One desk was in a hallway; another was in an empty hotel room that smelled of smoke. The lobby was closed, and there were no comfortable common areas set up in its place. It did not feel like a high-end resort. Most of the restaurants appeared to be closed. We went to the small outdoor bar for a drink and a snack, but jackhammering directly behind it was so loud it was almost comical. You can hear it in the video. The chairs were stained, and it was hardly a place to relax. The lazy river was also closed for renovations. Signage was poor, and we were left zigzagging through guest hallways to find the main restaurant. Once we got there, we sat for nearly 15 minutes without being asked if we wanted a drink. We had asked for a quiet room. The next morning, construction noise and jackhammering began around 6:45 a.m. right outside our friends’ room, which they had paid even more for. However, I would like to make it clear that the front desk staff were lovely. They discounted our one night and refunded our parking, and we appreciated that. My frustration is with how the resort handled the renovations. There are things a resort can do to make a stay comfortable during construction, but that was not our experience. It feels like management made poor plans and have left their staff to deal with the angry guests. We were told the renovations will continue until February. If you have a holiday booked here before then, I would reconsider it or contact the hotel to find out exactly what will be open. Had we known about the closures and construction before booking, we would have chosen somewhere else. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again.

I would recommend not staying here until construction is finished. The walk from the car to my room was insane. The lobby is closed so you enter from a random hallway that is FAR from parking, in over 100 degree weather. Then travel a maze to get to your room. We had dinner in the restaurant at a table covered in dust. The hot water heater must be located in that parking lot because it took about 20 minutes for the shower to get hot. Definitely not a 5 star resort. I will say staff was friendly and helpful.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with their kindness and genuine hospitality. The resort’s atmosphere was peaceful and inviting, creating the perfect setting to unwind. Our kids had a blast in the pool and lazy river, and seeing them enjoy themselves made the trip even better. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning soon.
