Booked this resort through Chase for 2 nights. Drove there and to be honest, we got confused as to where the door is to the lobby. It gave us a bit of a rough start. We finally found the doors and the stress of finding the door all vanished by the warm welcome of the staff. Eli checked us in and he was personable. He told us everything we needed to know for our stay, even things that I wouldn't even know if the information was not supplied. Everyone from the pool attendant, bartenders and just random worker passing us by were really nice and polite. Service is 5/5. Then we got in our room. It was amazing. We had the pool view with 2 queen beds. The room is clean and spacious. The only downside is they didn't have a fridge in the room. They have a mini bar which can double as fridge but it is already full of things for sale so we didn't bother touching anything in it. There were magazines and books. The bathroom is spacious. The only things is, there is no dedicated bathroom - like with doors that can be locked. The shower area can be hidden using a curtain. I came here with my boyfriend and parents and to our surprise when we entered the room, the shower area is see through to the whole room. Thank goodness they put a curtain to hide it or else we would have needed another room! Temperature, it was hot outside but the AC is very good at cooling down the room quickly! Cleanliness and temperature are my 2 biggest concerns in a hotel room and Mountain Shadows checked both boxes. Location: What else can I say? Mountain Shadows live up to its name. We saw both Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain from the pool. It was a very relaxing stay because of the peace and quiet the location offers. Commercial area is 7-10 mins drive and we had dinner at Miel de Agave which was amazing. Pros: location, staff politeness, clean rooms, ample parking, relaxing pool Cons: full fridge in the room (no room for personal food), no slippers in room -- both not a big deal really Will stay here again for a staycation. Can't wait to be back soon!

A Perfect Arizona Staycation Experience at Mountain Shadows My girlfriend and I booked a staycation at Mountain Shadows Resort to celebrate her birthday, and although we had to reschedule because of a family emergency, I’m so glad we did. From start to finish, the resort delivered a wonderful experience. The staff was the standout. Cody, the Fitness Manager, took time out of his day to answer my questions about classes, bookings, and resort events. Eli at the front desk gave us a warm check-in, explained the property, and helped us plan our activities. Kevin at the pool was fast, attentive, and especially helpful when we used our birthday drink credit. Every interaction felt friendly and professional. Dining was excellent as well. Hearth ’61 was a highlight — the cocktails, watermelon salad with chicken, and braised short rib pasta were all fantastic. Breakfast room service was quick and filling, and the banana ricotta pancakes were incredible. We also loved the thoughtful amenities throughout the resort, including water refill stations, plenty of lounge areas, live music by the pool, and the sound healing meditation class with Serenity(nice calming aura and energy). As Arizona locals, we can confidently say Mountain Shadows is one of the best staycation spots around. It feels luxurious, relaxed, and genuinely guest-focused. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return.
I’ve been to Mountain Shadows for weddings before, but never really thought about it as a staycation spot. We recently had a few days open on the calendar and decided to bring the family for a little getaway—and I’m so glad we did. The property is gorgeous, the location can’t be beat, and the service was great from start to finish. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and exactly what you’d want for a relaxing stay. The best part, though, is the pool. Having a full, unobstructed view of Camelback Mountain while the kids swam and we had lunch was pretty hard to top. We also happened upon a sunset sound bath one evening with Camelback in the background, which felt like such a special Arizona experience. I also loved the complimentary workout classes—such a nice perk for those of us who struggle to just sit by the pool all day. Overall, it was the perfect family staycation and a great reminder that you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’ve gotten away. We’ll definitely be back. ☀️🏔️🏊♂️
This is our absolute favorite getaway! We have always wished we stayed one more night because it’s so peaceful and wonderful! The staff is friendly, accommodating and kind. The amenities are top notch, the pool is never over crowded and the food is incredible! Complimentary coffee at Rusty’s every morning is such a simple touch but it goes a long way. Being able to have access to cold water and sunscreen poolside is such a thoughtful touch as well. Will continue to stay here time and time again.
We stayed for a weekend staycation and had a wonderful time! I splurged on a mountain view room for my husband's birthday, and it was totally worth it. Our room was beautiful and spacious, and there was a cute patio with a beautiful view of camelback mountain and the golf course. The property was peaceful and had pretty desert landscaping. We spent most of our time at the Sunet Pool, which was peaceful and had ample seating. The main pool has more of a family/ party vibe with less open seating. The staff were all very kind. We loved Hearth 61 and the lounge as well; we didn't need to leave the property for anything. We also enjoyed the fitness classes which are included. Overall, we will definitely be returning!
