Canopy By Hilton Tempe Downtown

No free parking, bad waiters, and hidden fees when using the Amex $100 credit. Disappointing experience. The hotel doesn’t offer free parking, and valet is around $43 a day—even though the same public parking facility is capped at about $20 if you park yourself. It makes no sense for hotel guests to pay roughly double. Service at the bar was also poor. I sat for about 10 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged and eventually had to ask someone if I could place an order. Finally, they advertise the Amex credit and even provide information about it, but don’t clearly explain the additional fees that come with using it. After the extra charges, you end up saving far less than advertised. I had a $100 credit, used $67 but ended up paying out of pocket $16 because they charge some crazy destination fee that’s worth more than the food. Overall, the experience felt overpriced and poorly communicated.

Stayed Labor Day weekend Saturday. The city was busy with many cars and pedestrians out for the first ASU game of the season. Saw reviews saying that some sides of the building can be loud with traffic, clubs, etc. Umar at the front desk was very helpful! We asked for a quiet room. We were quite happy with 1109, very quiet and also had a (neighboring building) pool view. Long lines for traffic to park in the parking structure next to the hotel (ASU game-related) which made finding the valet difficult. To get to the valet, go north on S. Myrtle Ave and turn right. Great rooftop views at the pool and bar. Fitness center was clean and had a better than average equipment selection. Random note: the accessible stall in the women’s bathroom on the fitness center floor has an insane view. Maybe the men’s too. Worth checking out haha. Bathroom overall was gorgeous and clean, but the flush function didn’t seem to be working in any stall.

My father and uncle have stayed at more hotels than I could imagine due to work, and they've confidently said that Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown is one of the best hotels they have stayed in the entire country. Aside from the amazing location and excellent amenities, it's the staff that truly makes the experience. Their level of customer service is next level and should be taken as an example for all hotels. Huge thank you to Brian, Christian, Ben, Ethan, Trinity, Brit, and Sean (valet). We will certainly be back! Thank you, Canopy!

I love the location and vibe of this hotel. The poolside service from Brian was phenomenal. He let us try a new cocktail that may hit the menu. It was delicious and perfect for a day on the rooftop pool. 👌🏼🤍
