About Activity
Enjoy the freedom to explore Inishmore at your own pace on a self-guided cycling tour through the island’s ancient heritage and dramatic coastal landscapes. Choose your preferred route and discover ancient stone forts, historic churches, pagan standing stones, seal colonies, and a rich variety of wildlife. Visit the Worm Hole, a remarkable natural formation where the sea ebbs and flows into a naturally carved rectangular pool, before cycling to Dun Aengus, an impressive prehistoric fort located approximately 4 miles away. Perched on the edge of a 300-foot-high cliff overlooking the Atlantic, the semi-circular fort features an inner enclosure measuring 50 metres across, surrounded by massive stone walls and an outer defensive rampart of sharp-pointed stones. Considered one of Europe’s finest prehistoric monuments, Dun Aengus is a highlight of any visit to Inishmore. After exploring the island, return to Kilronan, the main village, where you can unwind at one of its shops, pubs, or restaurants and experience the relaxed character of this remote Aran Island.
