Itinerary
The spring is at the top of a short scramble – head for the fig tree, located just 2km (1.2 miles) south-west of the village of Rum. The spring was named in honour of Lawrence’s evocative description in the Seven Pillars of Wisdom: ‘’In front of us a path, pale with use, zigzagged up the cliff-plinth…From between [the] trees, in hidden crannies of the rock, issued strange cries; the echoes, turned into music, of the voices of the Arabs watering camels at the springs which flowed out three hundred feet above ground’’. Although the pool itself is largely unprepossessing, being a stagnant puddle, the views across the desert are truly spectacular.
Among the vast expanses of rust-coloured sand in the Wadi Rum desert, the Red Sand Dune, or ‘Al Hasany’ in Arabic, is one of the most famous ones. Officially named Al Ramal it has become better known by its descriptive name. It stands out against a cliff side like it is part of the mountain. Coloured red by the presence of iron oxide, this dune is fine and soft underfoot making it perfect to walk up barefoot!
Khazali Canyon in Wadi Rum is the site of petroglyphs etched into the cave walls depicting humans and antelopes dating back to the Thamudic times. This narrow canyon contains numerous Nabataean rock carvings of people and animals. Jebel Khazali, a peak situated in the center of Wadi Rum Protected Area opens up in a narrow fissure of about 100 m length. Its inner walls are covered with Thamudic, Nabatean, and Islamic inscriptions, as well petroglyphs depicting humans and animals. Remarkable are the soles of feet petroglyphs, which probably had religious significance. In 1932 the French epigraphist Savignac noted the engravings in the cleft and published some of them in 1934. The petroglyphs and inscriptions of Khazali Siq form an impressive collection being one of the major tourist attractions in Wadi Rum. At the end of the canyon, there are several man-made rock-cut basins for water collection.
Little Rock Bridge: Easy to climb, this bridge offers great views across a broad expanse of desert. It is easily accessible and not dangerous, it is perfect for families with children and people who feel less comfortable with heights under their feet.
Nobody is certain that this was Lawrence’s house, although there are stories that he both stayed and/or stored weapons here. The current structure is built upon the remains of a Nabataean building, however, and it’s another beautiful spot in the desert. There is little left of this building, erected on the Nabataean ruins of a water cistern. Nonetheless, legend has it that Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt and that makes it a must on the regular 4WD circuits of the area. Near the building is a Nabataean inscription that mentions the area’s ancient name of Iram. The remote location and uninterrupted view of the red sand dunes are the main attractions.
Stop for lunch (Gallaya, Hummus, Tuna, Salad, Jordanian bread, Juice).
Sometimes nature performs small miracles. One of them is the Mushroom Rock. Over the centuries, rain and winds have carved this sandstone and gave it the shape of mushroom.
The largest of Rum’s three arches is the Burdah Rock Bridge, precariously perched about 80m above the surrounding rock. There’s a precipitous hike to the summit. It’s height and location offers one of the most terrific sunsets you will ever experience.
Abu Khashaba Canyon Wild fig trees and desert bushes among huge rocks and red and yellow sand make this canyon unique. Abu Khashaba Canyon is one of the canyons that are worth to visit and you will need about an hour to walk through.
A lower rock bridge which is featured on many tours and can be easily scrambled onto. The climbing takes 5-15 minutes (depending on your experience) and the view that it offers to the surrounding area is amazing.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience in this tour. We were there November 2023 when the weather was just right! Feras welcomed us with tea and we had a beautiful camel ride in the sunset. We arrived at the camp to find a tent that exceed all our expectations. Fantastic view, sparkling clean, beautifully decorated. We had a traditionally prepared dinner in the sand which was so tasty. The night finished with such an intriguing chat with our host in the camp. The next day the tour in the dessert was unique. It was an amazing experience that I cannot recommend highly enough. We saw all the landmarks in the dessert, had a very satisfying lunch and even tried sandboarding. Overall, we were more than satisfied with this trip and we recommend it to everyone. Thank you Beduin Guide team for everything! You were all so welcoming, friendly and original!
The views were amazing. The tour guide made sure we were well looked after. Plenty of bottled water and a great lunch. Recommend this tour.
We had a really lovely day. Our guide was great and the lunch was high is cooked in front of you was fantastic. We even had a small dessert of homemade fig rolls which were incredible. We were able to hop on and off and take our time to explore the different spots we saw. Our day was fantastic wadi rum is beautiful. The guides give you plenty of water to keep hydrated.
Had an amazing time! Very nice views, experienced guides and most of all: Feras and his family are very welcoming and hospitable! I would definitely recommend everyone to go in this tour. If you feeling adventurous, sleep in the cave!
Just finished a 2 day hiking tour with a few girl friends and could not recommend this tour more! We spent the entire 2 days with our tour guide Bakr who was awesome. He showed us some spectacular spots, was very flexible and made the entire experience so seamless and comfortable. The tour itself is physically demanding but very manageable as we took plenty of breaks and had opportunities to really take in the sights. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone!
The experience was just amazing and the guide was super friendly and professional. We have hiked on a mountain, had a traditional bedouin lunch, tried sandboarding, and had a mesmerising jeep ride through the desert. Would recommend to anyone! P.S. Everything was very comfortable even though I was travelling as a solo female
Disaster!!!!! First thing: When I arrived to Wadi Rum to start the tour, Feras (the owner) came and had that angry face without reason. The first thing he asked me was the money but before in the email he promised to pay after the tour. Second thing: I've payed 200eur and we eat tomato soup every day. The guide name Fajsah was also very noenergy guy and very serious all the time. Also the guides they don't have driving license and not a guide license. I talked with other people who had other agencies and they told me much better things. I really don't recommend this agency If you want to have good time in the dessert.
With Feras the first evening and Youssef (the King of the Desert) the other 2 days, we had two different points of view of bedouin life in Wadi Rum : a future-oriented one and a traditional one. Both were very interesting. The Wadi Rum desert if full of highlights, surprises and amazing view points. Two days with a local guide is a minimum to appreciate them properly. The hospitality was also much appreciated in the camp. Thank you Wadi Rum Bedouin Guide organisation and there aging 4x4 !
We spent two wonderful days and two nights with Yossef (The King of the Desert) in Wadi-Rum. He showed us many Highlights and gave us the time we wanted to enjoy the landscapes. In addition, the "couch" on the roof of his Toyota remains an added value. The tented camp is small and therefore not very crowded, which was important to us. Alessio & Wally
We spent overall 3 nights at their beduin camp, which has a great location, near a huge mountain. The camp itself was actually better than expected with an amazing fireplace in an open cave, where people after their tours gather, eat food, drink endless tea, dance and play some cool games and riddles. The tents, toilets and showers were clean, food was also great. The guides and the cook (named Honi) were very friendly and spent time with us after the tours and told us about beduin life. On the first day the guide took us to the al hash mountain, (approx 1 hour drive) in the white desert, where we had a short easy hike to the platform with nice view to the white desert bordering Saudi Arabia. We didnt climb to the top of the mountain. After that we visited some other locations in the white desert. Our guide was friendly and funny, although after the lunch he looked a bit tired and not very enthusiastic. The tour lastet approx. 7 hours, we were expecting actually a longer hike, but it was really hot during the day and we were exhausted after Petra, so driving on a jeep while enjoying the scenery. desert winds and herds of camels crossing our path was actually the best part. The next day the other guide (also known as the king of the desert) took us on a sightseeing tour through wadi rum. He had a car with 2 seats on the roof and sitting there was absolutely fantastic. We visited all locations, which are listed in a description. We had plenty of time to enjoy every location and drink delicious beduine tea while having a chat with beduines and other tourists at many tents, which are located at many places in the desert. Our guide was superb, he was very friendly, calm and in love with the spectacular nature of Wadi Rum. After watching the sunset we returned to our camp.
We had the oldest car in the desert, but the only one with a car seat on the roof of it. Great! Our guide Yousuf was very friendly and cool, he truly is the king of the desert.
The place is beautiful, the people are awesome, the tour guide was the best, eager to help, eager to show. Excellent food, plenty of time to enjoy and relax
Really good experience in the desert with genuine Bedouin locals. Feras is welcoming and friendly, will engage with the group in the evening and tell you about Bedouin life. We told each other riddles which was fun! My day guide Yusuf was also great, showed us lots of things about the desert and Bedouin life like what herbs you can find and how food would be caught.
It was great experience!! However, it's better not to come in January because it's extremely cold!! Guys are great, they prepared great dinners and lunch fir two days, fire at nigjt, tea.. The environment is extra! I lived the experience and recommended highlty!
Wadi Rum was beautiful, but exploring it with Bedouin Guide made it even more magical. We had Nail as our guide and he was terrific! We started off the day by feeding a camel family. Nail gave us some pita bread as their snacks and even gave the baby camel a little smooch! Then Nail guided us to Lawrence's Spring, which we hiked up to and saw lots of baby goats and was rewarded with great views (a total understatement) of Wadi Rum! Nail's cousin took us on a camel ride - he was super sweet, kind, patient, and fed the camels with so much good snacks. The camels were healthy and happy and raised in great conditions! Nail's cousin also took many lovely pictures of us. Nail then took us to many jaw-dropping stops along Wadi Rum, ending with an unbelievable sunset view of the White Desert. Amazing! The lunch was delicious! Nail cooked us up a fantastic tomato and lentil soup, tuna salad, baba ganoush, hummus, and cucumber yogurt salad. I'm salivating while typing this. I still think about the meal to this day. On our second day, we took a hike up Jabal Al Hash mountain with Nail. It was an easier hike that took about 2 hours, but it definitely gave us a good sweat! We saw fossils, mountains all the way in Saudi Arabia, and cool floras. Nail took the time to tell us about the different rocks used for pigments, the different floras used as medicine, and there was even a cool tea break with the other Bedouin guides and tourists. The tea and sweets were DELICIOUS. Both Nail and the other Bedouin guides patiently took great pictures of each of the tourists jumping with the backdrop of the beautiful landscape. Communication with Feras was seamless. They responded fast out of everyone we contacted and was very amenable about our transportation and meals requests. What set them apart from the other tour guides we looked at were their easy-going natures and how much love they gave to Wadi Rum, its inhabitants, and the animals. It was more than a tour; it was a glimpse into the local life in Wadi Rum, which we greatly appreciated. Also, they were very chill and the whole tour had a very relaxed vibe. We took our time taking pictures and it didn't feel rushed at all. Nail and his cousin even graciously took many pictures of us, which we greatly appreciated. There was ample time to enjoy the scenery, and chill amongst the Bedouins drinking delicious Bedouin tea. IT WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!! Wish we could spend our lifetime here! We definitely laughed until tears rolled down our faces. We will carry these memories of us hanging out with the Nail, his cousin, and his friends, with us for the rest of our lives. Love, love, love our time here and next time we come back, we will definitely request Nail and his cousin again! They are our new best friends.
Very good tour guides! We had Nail (sorry about spelling) the first day and Yusef the second day. We had a great time exploring the gorgeous Wadi Rum; honestly, we could have spent an entire week there and not seen all the beautiful sceneries and unique rock formations :) Yusef was very fun; we made tea in the desert while watching the sun set and did some good hiking to a view point where you could see off into the distance :) Highly recommend this tour!
Super quick response time, Sabbah and Yussef are very professional and helpful guides, doing everything to make your stay in Wadi Rum as comfortable and unforgettable as possible. Stay overnight in the cave, if your itineraries permit so, it is definitely worth it.
Everything about the tour was outstanding: Youssef's (our guide) cooking and kindness, the 15 spots of the desert we visited (all very different and incredibly beautiful), the 4x4 ride between spots (felt like a movie), the starry night and the comfort to sleep in the desert, Bedouin culture, the safety and the unspoiltness of the environment with almost no tourists around most of the time.
2 days in the desert for a full immersion in the Bedouin life! Our guide Youssef drove us in the desert by jeep, cooked delicious dishes, enjoyed with us this amazing adventure sleeping in a cave in the middle of desert. Absolutely recommended!
Amazing experience in the desert fully immersed in the Bedouin culture. Our lovely guide Youssef was simply the best, very funny and friendly, his food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend it, I will come back for sure!
I did the two day tour with three friends and it was nothing short of perfect: we had a comfortable 4x4 with our amazing guide Youssef, the king of the desert, just for ourselves. He took us to around 7-8 breathtaking spots in the first days including springs, canyons, desert sculpture sites, view points, sand dunes, ancient inscription sites, ... the visit was non touristy and most of the time we had the sites just for ourselves and the journey among them was by itself worth the trip. Youssef spent time cooking for us amazing typical Bedouin dishes and tea (which were the best food we had in our time in Jordan), was super receptive to our needs and personally invested in getting to know us and telling us of the typical Bedouin uses and customs. We slept under the stars with comfortable mattresses and warm blankets and, especially our female companions, were surprised about the high level of comfort of doing so and how everything about the tour was just so easy, safe and beautiful. Literally considering coming back in a couple of months and doing the exact same tour all over. Thank you Youssef, the king of the desert!
Tour well-organized, the guide was interesting and helpful. The food is amazing. The views are spectacular! A unique experience. Don't miss it!
Recently we visited Jordan and decided to head south at the Wadi Rum desert. The scenery was amazing from the photos and the three of us wanted to have a 100% desert experience. There are tons of camps at the place so it was really hard to decide. We sent many emails and got some answers. The one that got our attention was the mail from Wadi Rum Bedouin Guide. Polite and friendly, exactly what we were looking for. When we arrived Feras welcomed us, it was like a lost friend and drove us to the desert camp. Unfortunately we could not have a jeep tour,as we told them prior to our arrival, however he has a warm heart and took us for a walk near the camp and showed us the "road" to the sites and explained us a lot about the bedouin culture. All that, as a friend, never asked for anything extra. All in all Feras and his colleagues are well trusted and won our hearts from the very begging. Food was awesome the communal area and all the WCs clean and the tents were exactly as we expected.
The best choice for one night in Wadi Rum! Real, genuine, authentic dinner and wonderful sleep under the stars!!!
Best experience of our life. Very kind and hospitable Bedouins. We did the 8 hour jeep tour which may seem like a long time at first, but the time flew by. Wonderful lunch experience with the Bedouin (Bakar) who cooked us one of their typical dishes (very good). Very nice private tent with private bathroom.
There are many tour sites and we selected this one, we were very happy with all the treatment, it seems that you have to sleep in the heat but when you open the window and the door the current passes and it is very good at night since the temperatures drop a lot . The tour was incredible! We took the 8-hour one and we recommend it, eating in the middle of the desert in the shadow of a cliff was very top. The different stops are incredible, some are difficult to climb, but they are all very fun and you meet all the other guides with their tourists and you make friends since we all stop at the same places. The best was the end of the tour, where we were alone in the middle of the desert with the Bedouin guide, who prepared a fire, some tea, while we watched the sunset and talked. PS: very important, they have a container of water bottles with ice inside the car that they give you at each stop so you don't get dehydrated, it was a great idea since between the dry wind and the heat you need it.
Very good experience, guides made my experience memorable, thank you! Tents were comfortable, meals friendly and activities exceptional
Fabulous experience in Wadi Rum with our super guide Rashid, probably without him it would not have been the same. The first day of the tour we spent on a pick up going around the desert all day and touching all its most iconic points, until a spectacular sunset and then spending the night in a private room full of comfort (warm air is essential given the cold temperatures of the night). The second day took place reaching the border with Saudi Arabia by doing a spectacular hiking. After this fantastic experience in this fantastic place, where we learned to make a fire by picking up the branches and logs along the way I can say that we left our hearts in Wadi Rum, thanks also to our fantastic guide Rashid
Polecamy wszystkim. Spędziliśmy 2 wspaniałe dni. Pierwszy obejmował standardowe atrakcje z czego najbardziej podobał nam się zjazd na sandbordzie. Drugiego dnia zdobyliśmy najwyższy szczyt Jordanii. Noclegi we wspaniale ulokowanym obozie z wszelkimi udogodnieniami. Jedzenie bardzo smaczne. Polecamy wszystkim. Pozdrawiamy Beduin Tour. Do zobaczenia
Wadi Ram is an exceptional and breathtakingly beautiful place. Feras guided us for two days on this site like no other... we could not have dreamed of a better guide and a better experience! Everything was perfect from start to finish, thank you, we will definitely come back!
