Hurulu Eco Park is part of the wider Hurulu Forest Reserve and Biosphere Reserve, located in Sri Lanka’s dry zone near Habarana. The area is an important wildlife habitat and forms part of the wider elephant movement corridor connecting the Habarana region with nearby wildlife areas such as Minneriya and Kaudulla. The main attraction of a Hurulu safari is the opportunity to observe wild Sri Lankan elephants in their natural environment. you may see: • Sri Lankan elephants • Spotted deer • Wild buffalo • Grey langurs and other monkeys • Wild boar • Peacocks • Eagles and other birds of prey • Kingfishers and water birds • Monitor lizards • Other reptiles and smaller wildlife Leopards and sloth bears are also part of the wider wildlife of the region, but they are rare and never guaranteed. Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions and animal movements.

As a family of five, we had the opportunity to visit Sri Lanka for a two-week trip. One of our highlights was definitely our safari in Kaudulla National Park, which was conducted by Kalum Jeep Safari. It is one thing to enjoy the wildlife in this park, especially the elephants. It is another thing to enjoy the guide. Through him we saw crocodiles, wild monitor lizards and other wildlife like amazing birds that we would never have recognized ourselves. Our guide had the right instinct to be in the right place at the right time. He also helped us take memorable photos, such as on his car, and he gave us time whenever and wherever we needed it. He even stopped outside the park to give us our time with other wild elephants or to organize fresh watermelon for us. We as a family would like to thank Mr. Kalum for his kindness and coolness. :-)
We had a great safari with kalum, where we saw far more elephants and all were super close. Kalum is a true nature lover who delighted in showing us many birds and reptiles as well but it is obvious he knows the elephants and the parks really well as he put us onto the elephants on a day when many of the other guides were originally struggling. Would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to do an elephant jeep safari while in Sri Lanka

Great half day out. Kalum picked us up on time at our hotel, the Cinamon, and was friendly from the off-set. He gave us water and let us borrow his binoculars . We saw many elephants on our trip, thoroughly enjoyed

Kalum was a superb guide! He's warm, funny, respectful and kind. He communicated very well and customized an extended afternoon safari that started before the main crowd arrived. On the day, he brought us to Hurulu Eco park because that's where all the elephants were. We saw about 40-50 elephants in total, just incredible. Kalum could spot animals from miles away and always got us to the best locations before any other jeep arrived. We had many private moments where we were the only ones with elephants not more than 2 meters away. His love, knowledge and respect for the animals was clear to see. He knew when to keep a distance and all the elephants we saw were totally unfazed by his presence. Kalum is also a certified organizer (there's only 15 of them!). What an amazing experience! Kalum is definitely the guy to go to for safaris in Habarana!

I highly recommend booking a jeep safari with Kalum. His response to my enquiry was very quick and comprehensive and his price was very competitive for a quality service. He provided 2 jeeps for 7 of us and we all had a wonderful afternoon at Minneriya, seeing over 100 elephants, including the 2-month old twins with their protective mother, yet still maintaining a respectful distance from the animals at all times. Most of the time we were the only 2 jeeps around and never saw more than 4-5 others at any time. Go now, you’ll love it and give Kalum a call to arrange it for you.
We did a safari in Minneriya National Park with Kalum safari. It was nice tour we seen many animals and less crowded. Government limited 50 jeeps per day and we were just lucky enough to enter to the park,. Kalum was nice person and he already arranged our safari really faster we didn't feel any fear about our safety with corona viruses. Vehicle already sanitizered before we enter to the park kalum supply us the face mask and all water including his tour. Finally it was one of amazing experience for us in our boring life after lock down all the island on Sri Lanka.... Hospitality is awesome we feel safe with this guys always same as the home.. Sri Lanka we can say its a home away home. Good luck kalum safari.
We did a morning safari with kalum today start of the national park after the covid-19 lock down. It was pleasure to had a Safari specially with kalum that was a amazing experience. We seen plenty of elephants and many other wild life. We seen lots of spotted deers moving around with their freedom. Kalum was very respectful with dealing with the animal always keep good distance without disturbing them. We will be back to have a another safari soon with him to help to build his business again... We had a wonderful evening with kalum.absolutely aamazing experience i was we can remember forever. Kalum was our guide and he has eagle eyes can see the most hidden think like geckos, liizards,and many difference kind of birds. First he drove us to see the elephants and he said this is the normal safari that everyone does...was with some group of elephants with many jeeps around them. Then after 45 minutes he said ok kalum's safari start right now.. We drove away from the crowd and seen over 30 elephants just us around them.
