Adventure Safari Experience In Hurulu Eco Park, Sri Lanka

we did a 3 hour safari here after a big disappointment doing wilipattu safari a couple of days earlier. we got on much better here saw a large family of elephants and lots of other things like buffalo, the bee eater bird, a dragon lizard, a camillian lizard, a golden Jakle, and so on. as we were staying near here if you want to see elephants choose one of the smaller safaris much more likely to see them if your staying close by. our jeep we hired worked out 60 pounds pp and he fetched us from our hotel and supplied water and then took us on safari and then dropped us back to our hotel again, he was brilliant.

Really good expérience with Shen. He's a good driver and a better guide. He shared with us all his knowledges about wild life. He knows where elephant are and avoid the over jeep, you are almost alone with the wild animals. Go with him eyes close.

Amazing afternoon with Shen. Super knowledgeable about wildlife and elephants. Very careful in selecting the places so we can see, not only elephants, but also birds, monkeys, etc… Super nice, warm and amicable. Takes the time to explain. He also bought the tickets in advance so we would not queue and selected the park with the least tourists so we could really enjoy seeing wildlife without too many people around. All in all, excellent experience. Shen loves what he does and you can tell :)

We had the most amazing safari with our guide and driver Shen and could not recommend him more! From the moment we met him, it was obvious that he genuinely cared about giving us the best possible experience. Rather than taking us to one of the busier parks, he recommended Kaudulla National Park—and it was the best decision. We saw only one other jeep for almost the entire 3 hours we were there, which was incredible after knowing how many jeeps are lining up at other parks! The wildlife exceeded every expectation. We saw well over 100 elephants, including many babies. Shen pointed out to us a 2-day old baby elephant whose umbilical cord was still attached. He taught us many facts about elephant pregnancy and life once they are born which was truly fascinating. We were travelling with our 8-month-old and 2-year-old, and Shen went above and beyond to make the safari comfortable for all of us. He drove carefully and smoothly throughout the entire trip, which gave us complete peace of mind. He thoughtfully arranged the seats so our family could all sit facing each other, while also making it easy to turn them outwards for the best wildlife viewing. He even adjusted the jeep so that half the roof remained shaded, creating the perfect place for our baby to nap, while the rest of us could stand comfortably to get amazing views of the elephants. It was such a clever setup and showed how much thought he put into our family's needs – nothing was a bother for him. Our two-year-old had what felt like hundreds of questions, and Shen answered every single one with endless patience and enthusiasm. His knowledge of the elephants, monkeys and birdlife was incredible, and we all learnt so much throughout the day.On top of that, his jeep was immaculately clean, he provided cold bottled water and biscuits, and he was professional, friendly and organised from start to finish. Our safari with Shen was an absolute highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. Our son has not stopped talking about all the elephants he saw and it would not have been possible without such a knowledgeable and accommodating guide.

Shen was a fantastic guide, clearly very knowledgeable and had a passion for elephants and animals. He explained things thoroughly and we enjoyed it. Definitely worth it!

My guide, Chametha, was the perfect combination of light-hearted and knowledgeable. He was often ahead of the curve such as finding fabulous quiet spots to soak up the energy, the vastness, beauty and of course the elephants before other jeeps arrived. He was in constant contact with others who shared any special opportunities to view, for example, a baby elephant nursing from its mama. I loved the trees sat within the lake which were great for bird watching,. There was a viewing tower overlooking a small lake and nearby able to witness two mamas and a baby spraying the cooling wet mud. The tower provided a real sense of this vast 250,000 hectare safari park. I think my guide was simply super, company responded quickly, and overall an unforgettable experience,

What an afternoon! Unbelievable experience for me and my family of four (11,16 year olds). Shen is a fantastic guide. He stopped and explained many things and he also had patience to wait. We saw a few elephants in the beginning of the tour which was great and some more towards what we thought was the end. When everybody were leaving at 5:00pm we stayed behind and had a remarkable last one hour. We saw a total of over 40 elephants and had a few fantastic encounters at the end at dawn when we saw a herd of 20+ elephants including a less than one month baby. We saw a single male bull in the middle of the road and another family of six just the last few minutes causing a major but never forgotten delay! Thanks Shen for an amazing trip we will never forget! I cannot recommend enough. Do it!

We had an incredible tour. Our guide, Chamita, was so friendly and informative and seemed passionate that we had a great experience. We were able to see so many elephants, bathing in the lakes, shading in the forest and playing together. Being picked up and dropped off at our hotel in Sigiriya made it such a convenient trip too. Shen safari also were very responsive on WhatsApp making sure that we had everything in order for our pickup.

Highly recommend this tour, we had a fabulous time with our informative & knowledgable guide Shenu. Before departure we discussed the National Parks and what we wanted from the day and he adapted the trip based on his local knowledge to meet our needs. We saw an abundance of elephants in his very comfortable jeep. He knew exactly where they had migrated to. Very considerate to the wild mammal, kept his distance, switched off the engine and knew when to move on and give them back their space & privacy. He picked us up promptly from our hotel and on they way back pulled up and surprised us with a much needed refreshment of coconut milk & fresh fruit. Tim & Lou - 16/9/2025

Shen was recommended to us by a local. He was very responsive easy to book in with. We were initially looking to go to Minneriya but he recommended Kaudulla as this was quieter and where most of the elephants were. Shen was really knowledgeable about the elephants and other animals. We saw a large herd of 40+ with 4 tuskers along with multiple smaller herds, birds, buffalo and crocodiles. He was great with our toddler too! He was a safe driver and his vehicle was comfortable and clean. And very respectful of the animals in their habitat

Would highly recommend to everyone! Shen was a wonderful tour guide through Kaudulla National Park, telling us all about the animals and making sure we got to see them up close! Took us to a secret spot for sunset and provided complimentary watermelon… what a star

Shen is a brilliant safari guide. We saw SO many elephants and observed them in their natural habitat. It was amazing, he made sure we were so comfortable on the day and gave us water when we needed. We also saw so many birds and wildlife and learnt too much about such beautiful animals - especially the elephants! What a day. We did a half day trip and Shen was awesome. We had a great trip where we met him and he drove us and our driver to the park. We immediately found a herd of elephants eating but it was a shame how many other vans there were. This is not a reflection on Shen. We then split of after getting some wonderful views and photos and went to see what else we could find in the park. We saw a variety of birds and other animals but Shen was sure to locate as many animals that he could see and was very knowledgeable about all that the park had to offer. We stopped at the end by a lake as he knew we liked different bird species. We also stopped and had a fruit selection where we got to know more about Shen’s life and life in Sri Lanka. I can’t recommend him highly enough!!! If we come back we will be sure to take this tour again.

A fantastic experience in Minneriya Habanana Park, we were able to see many animals up close thanks to our guide Shen, the absolute best ever found for a safari. After a wonderful day, he organised a snack with fresh local fruit in a beautiful spot at sunset!

This guy is one of the funniest tour guides ever, he makes the tour an amazing trip and his colleagues all work together to make the experience unique. They know where to find the elephants due to excellent teamwork. Keep up the good work guys!

I did an afternoon elephant safari with Shen . He was excellent , he spoke decent English and was careful to point out all the animals that it is easy to miss such as peacocks lizards and eagles . He also showed me the local lakes and gave me information on how local people farm and live their lives . I would recommend

The experience was incredible! I was expecting something really great, but it was ultimately well above my expectations. Shen, our guide, was of rare kindness. He passionately explained to us the different species of animals that we could observe and had an excellent eye for spotting them. Thanks to him, we were able to see a huge number of birds, monkeys, and, obviously, magnificent herds of elephants. He is a true nature lover, and it is really great to have such a passionate guide for this kind of experience. He regularly offered us different options and adapted to our desires and preferences, which made the day even more pleasant. We even had the chance to end the day by admiring a superb sunset. We paid 40 CHF, and it is well worth it. I can only recommend this experience. For me, it was truly flawless from start to finish!
