Itinerary
We start in pub “The Royal Moustache”, home of the moustache club and a lot of excellent beers.
A real Scottish pub on one of the most beautiful squares in Antwerp. A very rich history and an even richer beer menu…
Just outside the busy tourist centre. A place where you can relax and refill your energy. With beer of course…
An authentic folk café in the heart of Antwerp. Here we drink a very exclusive beer with a somewhat naughty history…
In the heart of the historic centre, we end our BeerWalk. The Majestic café the ‘Red Hat’ is the oldest pub in Antwerp. So a lot to tell and luckily also something to taste…

Despite the high outdoor temperatures this was so much fun. It was a great way to learn about the city and off course about Belgium beer! Our tour guide, Ariel, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and funny. It was one of the highlights of our company outing. I highly recommend Beer Walk Antwerp!
Fantastic tour with the incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic JP. Gave us a a great insight into the city and it’s beer traditions and bars. He took us to five great bars and his beer choice was really interesting. The last pub we went to off the Hoogsstraat was the best. Highly recommend this your. All 11 of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great tour! This was a great way to learn about the city but to also learn about and enjoy Belgium beer! Our tour guide, Ariel, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We even had couple with us that doesn’t like beer and they also really enjoyed the tour. I highly recommend Beer/Walk Antwerp!
A good way to see the sights while enjoying good beers. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. I would gladly recommend for groups of friends.
The beer walk exceeded all expectations. The guide was amazing, friendly and very knowledgable. It really wouldn’t be the same without such a great guide. I would recommend this to young and old, and especially anyone who likes good beer and pub history.
Such a fantastic tour with an enjoyable host. We got to sample several beers and see sights along the way. We learned so much and had an amazing experience.
My partner and I arrived being the only English couple out of all the attendees, so we ended up having more of a private tour! Our guide Pet Aerden was very knowledgeable and exceptionally pleasant; despite the pouring rain, he was determined to complete the tour, and made it very enjoyable. Even my partner, who is usually ambivalent to beer, said it was very informative! I highly recommend BeerWalk Antwerp.
Completely not what we had anticipated - in all the best ways. Pet Aerden, our guide, was incredibly nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. Having not read things properly, we had planned our day too tightly, so had to cut the tour shorter than planned. Pet was extremely understanding and worked some magic so we got the vast majority of the tour in record time. Additionally, we were only expecting a brief history of Belgian beer, but had a masterclass is brewing, the history of Antwerp and how intricately the industry was intertwined in the formation and fabric of the city, country and Europe itself. All with great conversation, anecdotes and fantastic (FANTASTIC) beer. We would highly recommend the tour to anyone wanting to get a deeper understanding of Belgium and Antwerp (just don't plan anything that requires too much effort afterwards - the beer is amazing).
Guide was extremely knowledgeable & knew his beer very well. Fun experience, I recommend it to others.
The BeerWalk in Antwerp was exactly what we were looking for and the best possible way to learn about the history of beer in Belgium. Also, if you thought you knew about beer before, you will know even more once you leave the BeerWalk. Not only will you try some beer that is ONLY available on the walk, but you also will leave with your own glass and even a list of pubs/breweries to check out in another city such as Amsterdam. If you only do one tour while visiting Antwerp this should be it.
If it wasn’t for the great tour fellows we had, this rating would even be worse. The guide was not helpful at all. Her English was just not good enough to guide people and she was more into texting with her mobile than into entertaining us with facts and stories about beer, breweries and history. Apart from the stop at „The Highlander“ (with a great Xmas beer) and the „De Ware Jacob“ (a nice triple blonde), the other locations were a bit boring. We did not get to drink five beers in five different locations and we had to make decisions concerning the type of beer we wanted on our own. Our tour fellows from Bulgaria saved the tour by suggesting a fifth and final location, which should be a must for every tour: Pelgrom. For beer lovers a must. We are glad we took the tour, but only because we had the best and most polite tour fellows one could wish for. The rest was expedited drinking experience at a very low level. By the way: we had to pay the fifth beer on our own, though it was included on the tour. And no souvenir glass in the end. Don’t book the English tour!!!
Love the BeerWalk with Pet Aerden. He is passionate and knowledgeable about beers and very willing to share even though there were only 2 of us in the walk. The history of beer brewing was told with the history and development of Antwerp and the surrounding countries. The walk through the old cities was educational. Fascinating. Highly recommended.
We were given clear meeting instructions, the tour was started by information about the brewing process. The beers were well selected all delicious but in smaller portions so that we were still functioning at the end! The guide was knowledgeable with good English, a balance of history and beer, very enjoyable
Frankie, what a star! Great guide explained everything about beer and very interesting stories about beer and Antwerp too. This is a great way to learn, fully recommend. Frankie, thank you!
My husband and I travelled to Belgium for a relaxing week visiting Muriel cities. In Antwerp I booked this beer tour and we were so lucky to have Franky as our guide. We spent a lovely Friday afternoon walking around the city of Antwerp with Franky while he told us about Antwerp’s history, beer’s history in the area, and pointed out historical buildings while we strolled. Throughout the tour we had 5 separate beers which were all good and unique and the tour ended in the city center which was an added bonus since we were feeling the effects of the beer at the end! If you’re looking for a beer tour this is a good one to do, especially in Antwerp which has less sightseeing opportunities than nearer cities likes Ghent or Bruge.
Esme’s first tour in English was great! Nice walk, tasty bear and we learned a lot. Would have been better with a little food.
Fun full evening program. You will see some of the city, drink (new) beers and learn about everything that has to do with beer and Antwerp. Recommended this!
The Beerwalk is a fun way to learn more about beer, Antwerp and its history. You go to places where the ordinary tourist does not go. Our guide was Jo: A knowledgeable, kind and funny guide!
Super fun experience, interesting stories and a friendly guide. Also great beers. Also heard a lot about Antwerp.
JP good guy, super fun to do. Cafes could be spread a little better. But nice information and cozy cafes.
Very nice group had. The guide was also the one who came up with the bearwalk concept. He knew a lot about the history of the city and the beer! Very much enjoyed!
The guide was really top! He knew a lot to tell and kept the fun going! In addition, I did alcohol-free, but I still felt part of the group. He even told things about the alcohol-free beer;)
Our guide, Jean-Pierre Herincx, knew a lot about the history of Belgium and beer:-) I had arranged this trip for my friend, also a history lover, so there was a good click. Discovered nice new bars in Antwerp. Highly recommended!
Aardige man! Goed verhaal ook maar, anders verkopen ipv beerwalk t is vooral ook veel geschiedenis en een paar kroegen wel leuk gehad Pat bedankt!
Super fun city walk where you can learn more about Antwerp and its beer history by a nice Guide who can tell interesting stories. In other words, an informative tour where you can also drink some tasty and special beers. For us as a group of friends a perfect combination. Super cozy and highly recommended.
During the Beerwalk in Antwerp you will pass many beautiful places in the city, we got an explanation about the history of the city and about the brewing history. And of course we also got to taste the local beers under the guidance of a very knowledgeable Guide. A very nice activity during our friends weekend.
We did the Beer walk in beautiful Mechelen with a passionate Guide Jo Abbeloos. Passion for beer and the art of brewing peppered with historical facts about this beautiful city.
Super , very good explanation about the Antwerp and its history, cafes , pleasant Guide Ariel !! , recommended for company trip !!! ..
Hugely enjoyable and educational tour through Antwerp had by Jo Abbeloos. Besides a lot of knowledge about the city, he also taught us a lot about beers. Both about the taste and the technical aspect. The cafes where we got to taste the different beers were nice and well located. You will see both part of the old city and the port and get to hear a lot about (the origins of) Antwerp in addition to good beers. Nice to see with how much passion our Guide told Jo and how much knowledge he had. Nice if you want something different from the standard beer tasting or city walk. With this zythologist you like to sit at the counter, santé!
Jo the zythologist is a walking encyclopedia regarding beers and beer brewing. He also showed us some Things to do in our own biscuit town that we didn't know yet. Highly recommended!
Together with my father and brother I did this bearwalk with Jo Abbeloos as guide. It was a nice experience where we discovered new places and beers in beautiful Antwerp that we will definitely visit more often. Everything was well taken care of.
It was a nice tour through Antwerp with a clear explanation about the city and the beers were very tasty. Sometimes you had a choice of different types so that was very nice!
We chose this activity as a team building activity and we haven't regretted it for a minute. Ariel is an excellent guide who has a lot of knowledge about beers and Antwerp. Despite the less good Belgian weather, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended!
Sehr sympathische Guides, gute Auswahl der Biere und der Kneipen, ganz nebenbei lernt man noch ein paar schöne Ecken der Stadt kennen.
Very good guide! He had a lot of knowledge and wanted to share it. We saw and learned a lot about the city. Also drank some delicious beers, what more could you want.
Nice and pleasant walk with colleagues. You will visit a total of 5 cafes and learn a lot about the city and beer along the way. Recommended!
We took a nice walk led by our guide and heard nice stories about the history of the city. During the stop we tasted delicious special beers and received clear explanations about the different beers. We had a great afternoon.
Seen a lot and had delicious beers. Our guide J.P. was a real connoisseur with humor. He does his job with passion.
The concept BeerWalk was fantastic. Our guide, Ariel, is a zythologist. He knew a lot about beer, breweries and other drinks, but also had a lot of knowledge about the city and its history. In fact, there's not a question he couldn't answer. That we could enjoy good beers at regular intervals gave the experience something extra. Especially because we got beer that is not normally available for tourists: Seminy Aksiedent.
We had a nice afternoon with our group of friends! Nice explanation and nice beers Thanks Ariel!
Leuke stadswandeling langs bier gerelateerde gebouwen. Onze gids wist veel van de stad en gaf een leuke uitleg over de diverse biersoorten. Lekker geproefd!
We were with the company in Antwerp and participated in the German leadership. Very nice tour, great background information about Antwerp and the art of beer brewing. Our guide made the tour very entertaining and informative, we had a lot of fun!
We were out with the company with young and old. Everyone really enjoyed the beautiful stories and of course the delicious beers! Definitely recommended.
It was an interesting walk with nice beers, thanks to the guide Pet, a barrel full of beer knowledge
Our guide Ariel, the beer connoisseur par excellence, was the guide on our beerwalk in Antwerp. We discovered Antwerp in a very nice way. A top experience richer! Thank you to Ariel! Thanks to Antwerp!
The Beerwalk was in German, Roger was a first class guide, the tour was extremely interesting, not only in terms of the beer we tasted. We have seen many places in Antwerp that we had not otherwise found. There were a lot of Insider tips. Time flew by, on our next visit to Antwerp we will book the tour again. The whole family really enjoyed the trip, and it was certainly one of the highlights in Antwerp. Thank you Roger!
Nice and enthusiastic guide who told from himself! Nice beer and good humor! Definitely recommended
Top experience, very enthusiastically guided through the city. Told everything with enthusiasm and took us into the genesis of the city
We had a very nice afternoon due to guide Franky. He knew a lot. The private nature of the walk was very pleasant. Too bad two test locatis were closed, but it was solved fine. Definitely worth repeating in another city.
