Rum Making Masterclass Galleon Beach Antigua For 1 Person

Such good fun! Our guide was Jodie and she was great. We received instruction all the way and got to really experiment with our flavours. We started of with a paddle of 6 of their ready made flavours then had a table of flavours to mix and create our own! I chose Mango, Cinnamon, and Vanilla in the end. I was staying at the Royalton and paid $110 USD for the return taxi. The experience lasted about 1.5 hours I think it was.

The best part of the experience was learning all about the process of rum making and then making our own. We also loved that we could make a fun label and do the wax seal ourselves.

Eat a good meal beforehand! The class starts with tasting 6 different types of rum. Very educational and fun. The staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the island, history of rum making, and the science behind it. TLDR: Very fun and engaging. Highly recommend! Worth the money.

Me and my brother loved the whole experience from start to finish. I saw the experience on Tik Tok and knew it was something I wanted to try. Our instructor was knowledgeable, helpful and funny and we both left with a bottle rum we were so happy with! I would definitely recommend this experience.

A really fun afternoon! I spotted this location on Google Earth and after looking at their website thought it would be a different kind of excursion to do with the family. It's great to find something new. The staff were friendly and helpful, the r rum was excellent (the coffee and the caramel were my favourites - I think the coffee was the winner though, it was exceptional). All in all a great experience.

The experience begins with a flight of rums, starting with an 80-proof rum and ending with their cream liqueur (similar to Baileys), so you might want to eat before arriving or maybe not!! We learned how the distillery operates, why they use stainless steel stills, what the mash is, and even watched the fresh spirit come off the still (i.e., moonshine) Then we got down to business and began creating. We got to choose from what felt like endless flavor options—ginger, lemongrass, almond, cinnamon, vanilla, and many more. Then we blended our own recipe and left with a personalized 750 mL bottle complete with a custom label and a wax seal. We also arranged transportation directly through the Academy of Rum. Our driver, Bernie, was punctual, friendly, and shared some interesting history of Antigua during the drive. This was a far more economical decision than finding our own taxi. Overall: A+. This was a unique, hands-on experience.

I booked the Rum Making Masterclass at Galleon Beach as a solo traveler, and it was blast from start to finish! The host were engaging, and the hands-on process of distilling and labeling my own custom bottle of rum was so much fun. Quick tip for anyone booking solo...you do a lot of tasting around 6 generous samples before you even start blending, so you absolutely need to have a driver or arrange a taxi in advance. This was the highlight of my time in Antigua!

This was ridiculously fun, unique, interactive, right across from a stunning beach and gave the opportunity to taste more rum flavors than you could imagine, concoct a super imaginative or just ordinary flavor to call your own, then distill, mix, label with your own tailored name and bring home all on the spot. It was interactive, educational, entertaining and like participating in an adult science experiment.

Hospitality was 10/10 from both Yana (sorry if I spelt the name wrong) and Jodie. They were very attentive and had a great knowledge of what they were talking it. It was an amazing spontaneous experience booked in less than 24 hours. If you want to do anything in Antigua I would deffo recommend you come here and make your own rum. Also there are plenty of great rums you can buy. We got a peanut butter one and a aged rum (very smooth drink but got a punch). The price of the rums are very reasonable so my advice would be to buy it online (thats if you book it online) so you get the discount. If you don't book it as an add on If you didn't book it as an add on like myself the price is still reasonable in comparison to what you would pay in duty free for rums that are very generic.

I’m not a drinker but it was cool experience to learn making personalized rums. And staffs were very friendly.

This is a great, fun experience to learn so much about rum whilst getting drunk! There was so much that was enlightening whilst getting 6 shots to sample and then came the fun part of making your own rum. Also, set on a beautiful quiet beach. Thank you Jana for a fabulous session!

If you weren’t a rum fan in particular before coming to Antigua you will leave one! Great class you learn about the process and make your own flavoured bottle to keep. Very enjoyable and well done, plus all the rums we got to try as part of the class were very good, 10/10 recommend.

The British woman was absolutely fantastic. She was patient when we were going through the measurements and very informative when talking about the rum and its history. She's very knowledgeable as I learnt a lot from this session. Would highly recommend to others, especially if you love a drink. Signature rum right here.

This place is GREAT! Yana did such an amazing job, explaining the history and the science behind rum and rum making. She is a class act. The combination of the rum tasting is spot on and the flavor and taste was amazing. The beach is right across the way. We went and got in the blue water, and had a blast. It was just and all around amazing experience.No hangover, We had zero issues booking or finding the location. My only quarrel is the price through the app. This was one of my favorite experiences in Antigua. I would definitely recommend it and I will be going back.

As a local who can never get enough of the beach, my experience was unmatched and soothing. The atmosphere gave off a real Hawaiian vibe—relaxed, breezy, and welcoming especially with the beach nearby. The class lasted maybe about an hour and my friends and i enjoyed every moment of it. It was only 3 of us but the instructor of the class brought so much energy to the class. Amazingly fun and interesting time. If you want to do something different than beach, water, and boating, this was a blast. Engaging and educational session learning about the rum making process. We made two bottles with different flavors of rum. So fun. Would do again in a heartbeat.

What a fun experience! If you like rum this is your place. We had a group of 6 and all of us made our own flavored rum. The staff was great ! First you start off with sampling their rum,6 shots I want to say ( hard to remember LOL) then they explain the process of distilling, and the different flavor profiles you have to use. Lots of choices to come up with your perfect flavor of rum.

Nice hospitality and good guidance to create an own rum. 6 different rum tastes/kinds at the beginning (we started at 9 a.m), no problem for rum lovers). Then try to find a mixture of up to ten different aromas (lemon, orange, cinnamon, vanilla, …) while the boiler next to you destilles your basis rum. Then shaking, mixing, tasting, measuring of alcohol level, filling all up in a bottle, label the bottle and seal it with wax all with advices and monitoring of the „lector“. At the end everyone gets a nice certificate and surely a very special rum bottle & a nice memory in your house bar! Cheers!

This was a great class. Our instructor gave us an easy to follow lesson in the art and science of rum making.

She was very knowledgeable about the process teaching all of us on the distillery science and helping each of us to mix our best personal rum. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. It was fun, the lady’s were great! You don’t get to make the rum you drink, the rum you drink is too expensive, the t-shirts are too expensive and we found out we paid too much for the activity booking through Viator, but overall it was a great experience

I had a ball making my own bottle of Rum and gave it a special name. Named after my dad that passed this summer. I highly recommend taking this class solo or with a partner. Bring your drink pallet because there will be rum tasting.

My husband and I each flavored and bottled our own bottle of rum. The whole experience was really fun and informative. The staff were fun and knowledgeable. We had a great time with the tastings and then creating our own flavor. It was so interesting to mix and taste the flavors before we decided on our final flavors - orange and star anise for me and almond, coconut, mixed spices for him. They are both delicious and we are excited to create cocktails. This was a fun experience in a beautiful setting. We would do it again! Helpful hint: Figure out what you want to call your rum before you get there. One of the first things you do is name your bottle!

Our visit to the Rum Academy in Antigua was an absolute highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the fascinating world of Caribbean rum-making. We sampled a variety of rums — some impressively strong — and then had the chance to create our own custom blend, which was both fun and surprisingly challenging. The experience was made truly special by our wonderful host, Jody, whose engaging, personable, and friendly manner instantly put us at ease. Her deep knowledge of rum, paired with her great sense of humor and warm encouragement, made the entire session both educational and entertaining. She has a gift for making everyone feel welcome and involved, no matter their level of experience. We also want to extend our thanks to Jody’s lovely colleague (whose name escapes us, unfortunately!) for her warmth and support throughout the session. Her quiet attentiveness and kind presence added to the welcoming atmosphere and made the experience even more enjoyable. And of course, a big thank you to Imran, our driver, who took us to and from the Academy with care and good cheer. Even if you don’t love rum, this is a great experience. Lots of tasting and the you have the chance to craft your own bottle of rum. Finishing with dipping the top of the bottle in red wax.
