Half-day Tour: A Taste Of Paradise And History Of Antigua

The tour was listed as a tuk tuk tour but turned out to be just us and a driver in a nice black air conditioned van. That probably was the better option given the island heat was brutal. We stopped at some interesting places and the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Cyril!

Excellent half day guided tour with our guide Blondelle. We we picked up from our hotel in a comfortable vehicle and visited Shirley Heights, Devil's Bridge and Betty's Hope. Great visit to places harder to reach in Antigua without a car.

It was an awesome personalized experience. I got lucky…since I was the only one but am Glad, Viator respected the booking and honored it. Cyril was great. Gave me a lot of info on the history of Antigua and was on time.

It was just my wife and I in a comfortable airconditioned vehicle with a very knowledgeable and informative guide. We visited 3 beautiful locations.

Our guide Michael was great and we had such a good day! Nelson’s dock yard is for only 20 mins you can easily spend hours there so be aware!

Tour with Leslie was great. He was knowledgeable and efficient. Easy to find at port. We had three stops that were great and got to eat “purple pineapple”. Shirley’s Heights was our favorite stop. Tour was not customized or personalized but still a great day. Antigua has the prettiest beaches and water!

Vernon our guide was amazing!!! We had a personal tour for the four of us! He showed us all around the island, and was so knowledgeable! He even stopped a beach to see the beautiful blue water! A great tour .. highly recommend Vernon!!

We were surprised and delighted to find out that our trip was just the two of us with our driver/guide Michael. He was really knowledgeable about the island and very easy to talk to. He took us to all the planned places and we had long enough at each one to get a feel for it. He had drinks for us on the journey and a large tub of pineapple to eat which was a real treat and very welcome. We absolutely loved Antigua and hope to return one day. Great trip and beautiful island.

Private driver is the best way to see a new place and Herman was a great driver with great information about the places we went.

Great private tour of Antigua, Cyril our driver/tour guide was the best! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the island, was timely and also had entrances already prepaid and prepared for. He also assisted in photos, and provided refreshments and entirely kind.

Our tour guide Syril was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about everything going on in St. John's. He took time to explain the history of the island and he was always willing to take questions. Couldn't have asked for a better tour!!

Michael was a wonderful tour guide. He drove us all around the island and shared so much knowledge. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone hoping to have an overview of Antigua on a limited schedule.

Vernon was a great guide and driver. We experienced short stops in many of the Island High lights. Roads are a bit bumpy but our driver navigated his way around skill.

Our tour was great thanks to our driver and guide Taragie! He was friendly, informative, and down to earth. He even provided us with drinks and fresh pineapple. As others have noted, the description of the tour vs. the itinerary is not quite accurate as it does not include Betty's Hope (the windmills pictured from the old sugar plantation), but Taragie was flexible and brought us there anyway and we just had to pay the $2/person entrance fee. We had such a enjoyable day!

The shoreline is incredibly beautiful. A bit of travel time between sites but guide was interesting and informative.

Viator was very misleading and gave us the wrong meeting point address so we could not find our driver.

Shane is an excellent tour guide who went way above and beyond! We circled the entire island and he talked about the sights the entire time. He had samples from a local bakery and refreshments for the entire trip. We had many stops and saw many breath taking views! This is a must-take tour if you want to get a true feel for the entire island and it's culture.

This was a great tour of the island, Syril, (not sure of the spelling) was great! Told us about something about every area that we went to and the culture of the area. Showed us spots and where to get the best food and other places that would have never knew about. He was great! Highly recommended!

Driver was late by 10 minutes which we missed the 1st stop because not enough time. Driver was very knowledgeable of the area. The tour is impossible to make in the time frame. There were 6 of us adults and should have been a mini van but was a SUV and we were not comfortable. 3 people in the back seat was not comfortable. We were not given a choice of which place to delete from tour because of time frame. We were tourist so we didn’t know any of the issues. I would advise Viator to check the distance vs time frame.

Tour guide explained culture and economy and history of the country. He also had a great personality.

Tour was exactly as advertised. Michel picked us up v promptly at our chosen time. We visited the 3 spots advertised and Michel was a mine of information as we drove between. Delicious pineapple snack included. Be aware that roads in antigua are v bumpy even though he drove carefully, so if you have physical issues with eg back pain, or motion sickness, this probably isn't the right tour for you

We had the most incredible day touring Antigua! It was the perfect way to see everything this beautiful island has to offer. From stunning beaches to historic landmarks, every stop was breathtaking. Syril our guide, was absolutely amazing—so knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the island’s rich history and culture. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore Antigua!

It was a great trip, exactly what I was looking for, just under 4 hours. We've seen at least 3 mayor attractions, and some different parts of Antigua, during this tour. Out tour guide, Sheakil, was very pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable. The car was spacious and comfortable, handling the quality of some roads perfectly. Thank you Sheakil (I hope i got the spelling right) for an awesome experience.

This was such a great, relaxing and personalized tour. Michael picked us up right from our hotel lobby and the tour immediately began. We learned so much about the island, it's culture and saw quite a bit of the main sites. The tour was just the right length, we saw much for the car, and when there was time to see more, we got out and dived deeper into this islands heritage. Thank you Michael for a great half day tour, thank you for sharing your knowledge, for the drinks, the mango and pineapple and your time during this tour. I appreciated doing this early in our trip as I learned more about the island what else to do while we were there. Thank you.

I was a little disappointed at first because I booked a jeep tour and I had a SUV instead. I was the only person and I had the guide all for me. He was very nice and professional, so, I enjoyed the tour.

This review may seem a bit harsh but the important thing is it's completely accurate. About the only thing truthful about the description of this tour is the length...3.5 hours. The description says you visit three sites...Betty's Hope, Devil's Bridge and Shirley Heights.....we visited only one of these, Devil's Bridge. This was a huge disappointment as we really wanted to see Shirley Heights! Of the 3.5 hours, approximately 3 hours of this was spent riding in the vehicle....I understand that it may take some time to get to places but this is not my idea of a worthwhile experience. Michael was a friendly tour guide and he did pick us up at our hotel on time. During our lengthy ride he tells you things about the flora and fauna that you will see and about the island's history and culture....some of this was interesting and some not so much. During our drive our tour guide did offer us something to drink which we declined and some fresh pineapple which we did enjoy but eating it from a plastic container while riding in the vehicle seemed a little weak to me. Why not establish some kind of relationship with one of the many fruit stands you see along the way....stop there for a few minutes for a fruit snack and maybe even some rum punch and have some interaction with the local people. That would be a lot more memorable experience. My other suggestions for improvement would be to rewrite the tour description to ensure its accuracy and to be honest you should refund me for one adult fare because what we received for almost $200 was extremely disappointing! We were the only people on this tour so I felt somewhat obligated to tip Michael but it wasn't justified.

Benjamin was a joy to tour with. You could tell he was passionate about showing off his home island. He tailored our tour to our interests and showed us highlights as well as hidden gems all over the island. A very comprehensive tour. He had plenty of snacks and drinks for us and even helped us find a rare Wadadli beer. Benjamin helped us understand and appreciate Antigua much better. We got more than our money’s worth. Highly recommend.
