This was our 9th different Sandals resort and we arrived with low expectations after reading reviews about the age of the property and people on the beach. We’re glad those concerns turned out to be overstated. Yes, Sandals Antigua is a bit dated compared to the newer Sandals 2.0 resorts, but it is very clean and they’re clearly working on upgrades. Many rooms have already been updated. Ours wasn’t one of the renovated rooms, but it was still very nice and the location couldn’t have been better. The food was excellent at every restaurant. The real standout, though, was the staff — some of the warmest smiles and best personalities we’ve experienced at any Sandals. Special mentions: Joven at Soy Sushi Bar – amazing food and a great smile Courtney from In-Room Dining – answered the phone and personally delivered our food when they were busy Anderson at the Drunken Duck – one of the hardest workers we saw Kamiah at Barefoot – incredible smile and personality Sydonna & Oliver at the main pool bar – always moving and always friendly Sha Diamond at the beach bar – best drinks on the beach Tasheika at Mario’s omelet station – somehow makes hundreds of omelets a day with a smile Serina & Sylvia at Café de Paris – two of the funniest, most genuine people we’ve met Chelsea, our housekeeper – kept our Club Level room so well stocked and cleaned it felt like butler service The beach is beautiful — crystal-clear light blue water, soft white sand, and almost no waves. Perfect for floating. The main pool is huge with a great swim-up bar, and the quieter pool has volleyball and its own swim-up bar. Gym was clean with new equipment, plus tennis and pickleball courts. Locals selling on the beach were not pushy at all. Most just said hello and walked away politely when we said no thank you. Returning Sandals guests will feel right at home — solid Sandals brand with authentic Antigua flair. First-timers will get a classic Sandals experience that will likely have them booking their next trip before they leave. We’ll absolutely be back because of the people here. Highly recommend.

I celebrated my birthday at Sandals Antigua, and it was absolutely amazing experience! The staff were incredible, and all the butlers went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special. I was so touch by the surprise room decorations and all the thoughtful little touches that made my celebration unforgettable. The spa experience was outstanding. I had the best facial and massage, and the curry goat was hands down the best I’ve ever had. A special thank-you to the wonderful staff who went out of their way to prepare fresh ginger tea for my husband using real ginger. That extra thoughtfulness meant so much to us! The resort is beautiful, the staff are exceptional, and the beach is absolutely spectacular. The hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made our stay truly memorable. Thank you to the entire Sandals Antigua team for making my birthday so special and giving us such a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to return!
The beach was beautiful and the resort was nice with very good butlers. The housekeeping was marginable and very inconsistent. One day they would come at 09:00 for room service and the next day they would come at 02:30pm, which was very inconvenient. One night, housekeeping did not come to the room until 08:50 PM for turn down. It was disappointing, the service that we received for the cost of the vacation. We could have stayed at a five-star resort, with five-star meals for two weeks for the cost of this resort. Most disappointing was the quality of the meals. Not one of the meals was as good as I expected for the cost. Most of the meals were on or below the quality level of a major, low-cost chain. I have never been at a resort where the food quality was so bad. The value based on the food and housekeeping were pitiful and I would never return to this resort and doubt that I would try another Sandals Resort. Of all the years and multiple vacations, resorts and cruises, this was the worst. My first visit to Sandals will be my last. What a waste of time and money!
This was our first stay at Sandals and it definitely won't be our last! We had such a relaxing time and were genuinely blown away by how friendly and accommodating everyone was. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. A huge part of what made our stay so special was the butler service. Geoffrey, E'Cosi and Marvin were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond for us throughout our stay. They took care of everything, from organising our days to saving our preferred sunbeds each morning, which meant there was no need to rush down early and we could properly relax. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the butler service - it really does add something special to the experience. The food was another highlight. Chef Julien was amazing and created bespoke meals for us pretty much every evening. We felt incredibly looked after. There were so many dishes we loved - the fried macaroni at Barefoot, zucchini dumplings, arrabbiata, some fantastic curries and lots more. The Caribbean restaurant was one of our favourites, particularly the curry, and the Tex-Mex restaurant was delicious too. The Japanese restaurant was such a fun experience with the live chef, and we were even treated to a private dining experience in the end, which was such a lovely touch. The coffee shop was also great and became a regular stop! The resort itself is beautiful, with gorgeous sunsets and a really relaxed atmosphere. The pool is quite shallow, but lovely for lounging and cooling off. The sea was warm and enjoyable, although it was a little murky during our stay. I did unfortunately get stung by a jellyfish, but it settled down after a short while. They're pretty harmless. We also loved that snorkelling and diving are included, which is a brilliant addition. What really stood out, though, were the people. The staff were so, so friendly and there was a genuine feeling that they wanted you to have the best possible stay. Geoffrey, E'Cosi, Marvin, Chef Julien and the wider team really went over and above for us. We came away feeling completely relaxed and very well looked after. For our first Sandals experience, it certainly set the bar high. We'll definitely be back! Thank you to McNeilya for upgrading us!
Let's start from our check in...we arrived and we're greeted very nicely. An employee (can't remember his name) showed us to our room and gave us a tour. He sang me happy birthday and I wish I would have recorded it, was very lovely. I'm going to give the staff a 6.5 out of 10. Most were very lovely and kind. There were a few waitresses in the Bayside and the restaurant on the beach who were just plain rude! Their customer service was lacking, like we were bothering them to do their job. The first few days there was no one on the beach or the main pool to take orders. Found that odd and that you had to go yourself to get drinks. My mom booked us massages and honestly that was the best part of the trip. I'm a foodie and the food was a 5/10 I was expecting much more and looking at the menu before we booked was a big part of why I wanted to come. It lacked flavor. Met great guests who also felt the same as us. We will not be back to this location
