Occidental Ankara

While our stay at the hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was good, there were a few things that I hope the hotel takes into consideration for future guests. Pros: - The hotel itself was always kept clean and room was cleaned daily - The staff was friendly and helpful with taking our luggage to our room upon arrival and loaded the taxi for us upon departure. Cons: - Less than a day into our stay the "do not disturb" light was on, I had just gotten out of the shower and my husband was showering. I had music playing while getting ready, but Housekeeping knocked on the door repeatedly and then just opened the door to come in the room. This was extremely inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. - The water in the bathroom sink was running brown, even leaving small dirt/minerals around the sink. We let the water run for some time and it remained like this. The following days of our stay we did not see this again, but did not feel comfortable brushing our teeth with the sink water and used bottled water for the rest of our stay. - Bottled water. Two complimentary bottles were provided by Housekeeping after they would clean the room which was wonderful. However, the one day that they did not clean the room I had asked the desk for water and they charged me for it. When I asked about the complimentary bottles, the staff offered me one of his "personal" bottles which was nice but I refused and just paid it- but I've never paid a hotel this much and also had to pay for drinking water. Mind you this was in the middle of summer during a 6-night stay. - The food (aside from breakfast) was not good, especially for the price. The chicken was very dry and the avocado was not edible.

I had an upsetting experience during my stay at this hotel. After housekeeping serviced my room, my ring went missing and, despite searching everywhere and reporting it, it has never been found. The reception staff were very helpful, understanding, and did their best to assist me, and I appreciate their efforts. However, I am extremely disappointed that an item of significant value disappeared during my stay. This experience has left me questioning the hotel's hiring and security practices and has completely affected my trust in leaving personal belongings in the room.

A very good stay. Nice and clean hotel, well situated. Excellent breakfast and service. Especially the waiter Onur was very friendly and helpful.

Overall, I had a good stay at Occidental Ankara. The location is convenient, the facilities are nice, and the staff were kind and professional. The only real issue was the air conditioning on the first night. The room did not cool properly and was too warm to sleep comfortably. However, the hotel did improve the climate control on the second night which I appreciated. I would still recommend the hotel as a quiet place to stay in a good neighborhood
