Enrique was incredible, he was so very pleasant and knowledgeable on the areas. This was the best day of our trip to Amsterdam. We would highly recommend taking this day trip as it was very interesting and enjoyable. Request Enrique as he made the trip awesome!

Itinerary
The WIndmill village of the Netherlands. The oldes industrial area of europe where the Dutch heritage is shown. We will visit a windmill inside.
A family owned farm where clogs are made by hand and Gouda cheeses are produced by hand.
In our opinion the best fishing village around. an old fishing village and away from the masses. Former stinky town because of many smokehouses.
A beautifull Fishing village next to Monnickendam. Depending on the weather, day the guide will guide to the best choice for that day.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, Broek in Waterland was considered a major international tourist attraction. Throughout Europe, the village was known as the "cleanest and wealthiest village in Holland." Foreign travelers marveled at the pastel-colored wooden houses, the immaculate gardens, and the residents' extreme obsession with cleaning. We are going to visit it!

The itinerary for this excursion was excellent. We learned so much about the windmills, and cheese and clog making. The small towns we visited were quaint and picturesque.
Our guide was friendly and informative. We really enjoyed our day, saw a lot and learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend!
While the visit to the windmill village was very interesting, there were the expected large number of tour buses and crowds. Our driver next took our group of 8 to a family-run small cheese and wooden shoe maker with virtually no other tourists. Very informative demonstration. The next visit, to a small coastal fishing village, was also very quaint and uncrowded. The final stop was at another small and interesting coastal village. At all stops the guide, Toli, was well-informed. The tour was in a minivan. Those in the middle and rear seats could only partly hear the commentary from the front and the frequent conversations and questions among the guide and the front seat passengers. I’m afraid we missed lots of good information. We recommend getting the front seat for the better experience.
Apostolis did a wonderful job of touring us and sharing information about all the areas we visited. He was very informative and gave us a good understanding of the history and lifestyle of the different areas.
Our guide, Apostolis, made the tour truly memorable. He shared detailed and fascinating information about the places we visited, explaining not only what we were seeing, but also the history, the reasons behind it, and the stories that brought everything to life. He was punctual, pleasant, engaging, and kept us well informed while highlighting all the important points along the way. We also preferred being in a small group tour instead of a larger big bus tour and thought it was advantageous for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend this tour!
Very interesting tour. Guide was very knowledgeable, would highly recommend.
Even though it was a very rainy and windy day we enjoyed our tour with Apostle. He was engaging and allowed flexibility in our time visiting and exploring. Disappointed we couldn’t walk the various villages but Mother Nature had something else in mind.
Excellent tour with a small group of people so we got to do an experience things where all the large tour buses were not. Private trip to a cheese maker, and wooden shoe crafter. We also went to a small fishing village for lunch and got to go to another small village and I was having a street fair. Would highly recommend a tour!
Definitely small group and was tailored for our group and our guide, Apostolis, was very flexible. Very informative about places visited and history of the Netherlands. The places visited were exactly as advertised and seemed to go to places other tours did not.
Guide was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We were given great information about all of our stops. The drive thru the country side was scenic gave us a glimpse of life outside the city. A day well spent.
Zaanse Schans Windmills & Volendam Small-Group Tour from Amsterdam was an absolute highlight. Apostolis was a fantastic guide—knowledgeable, easygoing, and genuinely passionate about every stop on the tour. He gave us plenty of time to explore the windmills, wander through the fishing village, and soak in the scenery at our own pace. He even took us to a great herring spot where we got to try this delicious Dutch treat. I loved it. I’d absolutely recommend booking this tour with Apostolis. Thank you for a memorable day Apostolis.
Tol is a wealth of knowledge… loved the history. Enjoyed pickled herring and smoked eel, first time trying both.
Apostolis was an amazing tour guide, we learned about windmills and the different locations. Also took us to smaller local cities and they were beautiful. Highly recommend
We booked this as a small group tour but were thrilled when we ended up with a private tour with Apostolis. He was extraordinary and so very knowledgeable about the history of the area. We would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a small group experience!
Such a lovely trip in a small group. Our guide Tol was amazing. Lots of attention from him and lot of knowledge. Relaxing tour with space to breathe Thnx Tol!
Great day out with friends! The windmills at Zaanse Schans were stunning, and Volendam was super charming. Well-organized tour and highly recommended!
The tour never showed. We stood there waiting. It was so frustrating. We did get reimbursed our money a day or so after. But we had a whole day tour planned and now had nothing.
SMALK GROUP TOUR FROM AMSTERDAM... Zaanse Schans Windmills and Volendam Small group Tour from Amsterdam - Netherlands...is the windmill village of the Netherlands such as. The oldest Industrial area of Europe ! Lovely countryside, seeing the windmills in action was so cool. Ali was a great tour guide, knowlegable, and he took us to each stop on the tour when crowds were thin. The fishing village Monnickendam was so charming, & Ali found a bakery that made delicious sandwiches, so our lunch was quick & we had more time to walk around the little town. I didn't expect the dairy farm to be interesting, but it was! Glad we stopped there (& yummy cheese!). Also seeing clogs made was facinating. Great tour, highly recommend.
Windmills were great, original design and were still working. The cheese and clog shop I could have done without, but lunch was very good.
The fresh pastries was the best I’m still talking about it And our guide was great very informative Cheers
The mills were interesting and guide knowledgeable. Waiting behind big bus tours a bit off- puttIng. This was not a quality tour.
Great tour and highly recommended. Ali made our tour very interesting and informative. He has a great knowledge about history of Netherlands , economic, agriculture. Time just flies , we skipped all crowds , saw beautiful fishing village and windmills. Usually I am not a fan of commercial stops but cheese tasting was great and after finding that we can order purchased cheese to be shipped to our country instead of placing it in luggage 😂 it was difficult to stop .
Wonderful tour and awesome guide! Ali was very informative and he kept us away from the large groups which was exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed every stop along with the company!
The Windmill and Fishing Villages were amazing. Nothing like it. Ali, our tour guide, was exceptional. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Made sure all in the tour was included.
Ali was great!!! I would highly recommend this tour, but book it through someone else not Viator. We will never use Viator again as they canceled our van Gogh museum tour less than 24 hours before it started. we did get tickets to another service even though they were sold out. I do not recommend Viator nor would I ever to anyone?
Had a wonderful!! Trip was much as described with a knowledgeable tour guide Ali. Managed to stop in additional small quaint Dutch village. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour...very worthwhile!!
I always wanted to see the windmills and I was not disappointed! Our friendly guide, Ali, had vast knowledge of the history, economics and modern everyday life of the people of the beautiful countryside. He made sure we had the best experience. I loved everything, including the dairy cows, the fishing village, the clogs and the cheese!
Had a great time with Ali explaining Amsterdam’s history, local food and culture. Ali is a great guide who treated us to a great time on this trip. Will highly recommend to anyone.
Ali was a great tour guide. He was informative, friendly, punctual and experienced. He did a great job of guiding us away from the large crowds by timing our stops to avoid large bus loads of people. I took this tour in November of 2016 and have recommended it to several people.
I booked three months in advance as part of a pre-cruise stay in Amsterdam. I had many options at the time I choose them, but no options when they canceled the tour the day before! They canceled on me last minute, and it was too late to get another tour!
Great tour and guide! Easy to find pickup/dropoff point. Didn’t care for cheese/wooden shoe visit. Everything else was great.
Definitely a tour not to miss!! Our tour guide was fabulous! We had a great time seeing the different villages and hearing the history from our tour guide.
An amazing trip with Ali as our guide. Ali was very cheerful and kept us entertained during the ride to and back with funny stories and info about Netherlands and windmills and dams. He was amazing with keeping kids engaged as well. The place itself was of course very very beautiful with windmills and cows and sheep grazing in the background.
The places that this tour takes us are exactly as described and everything you will want to go though a stop at the bakery would have made the tour complete (5 star). Unfortunately , there wasn’t enough time and it was a touch and go tour. Would have been ideal if this is a 1 day tour. We didn’t get to taste Dutch wine eventhough it mentioned that in the package. Ali, our tour guide is a very knowledgeable band patient gentleman.
Great to have a small group experience and avoid the tourist throngs. Also our guide and driver was the perfect balance of history and factoids as well as social interaction without being overbearing. It helped break the ice with the other guests. I highly recommend this tour and experience. We visited the dairy farm, cheese factory, wooden shoemaker and of course the windmills. The small group makes it very agile for insertion and extraction from the windmills which were the heaviest tourist draw. It's not that I am anti-social, I'm just not happy with being on a large bus with many people herding our way through the day. Great experience and really helped us maximize our limited time that day before leaving the Netherlands.
We had such a great time and our tour guide was amazing! So full of interesting information and tidbits about the land, water, and the people. He took extra time to answer all our questions. It was so worth the money!
Our family enjoyed the personal touch of this small group tour. The guide was knowledgeable about Dutch history and customs which added to the experience. He timed our visits to avoid most of the large tour buses. He stops at the cheese shop, wooden shoe shop and dairy were cut and dried with a demonstration and time to look around. The stop to see the windmills at Zaanse Schans was a 90 minute stop to see the windmills and town. You could easily spend more time there to see more. My son wanted to see inside the windmills, which requires a separate fee of 17.5 euros for all the open windmills. I recommend it for those who are interested in old machines. We didn’t have time to see the rest of the touristy town. This tour was a nice easy thing for us to do after the busy pace the rest of our trip. Our guide was really nice and light hearted.
Inside the windmills, automated dairy farm, Monniciendam, clog making machines. It was all excellent.
we had a nice day in the Dutch country side, the only issue was the pick up point was difficult to get to.
Windmills, dairy farm and wooden shoe making demonstration. Tour was a nice supplement to the city sites of Amsterdam.
Small group is the way to go! Amazing tour with Ali. Super fun and full of information. Hope to have him again.
Ali, our tour guide, was exceptional Very informative and accommodating, also quite entertaining It was planned well with just enough time to visit all attractions in route, no pressure into buying anything
Guide was amazing. Very hind, helpful and authentic. He took us to unique places and less visited marina and beautiful wood home community. Very comfortable and low stress approach. Thank you!
It was a great tour of the area and would recommend it. When we booked, the tours says it's approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes, but even though 2 guests were late to arrive at the start point on time, and the tour started at 9:15, the tour was finished in about 4 hours 30 minutes. I feel we missed one of the listed stops.
Ali was very knowledgeable and friendly. He knew how to avoid the big tour bus crowds and take us to the cheese factory, clog making demo, dairy farm, and fishing village at times we would have the places to ourselves. He did a great job answering questions and he was a good driver. We also very much enjoyed the windmill village. I would highly recommend this tour.
Small group tour is definitely worth the additional cost to enjoy the quaint area just outside of Amsterdam. Our guide/driver Goulven aka "G" was perfect for our congenial group of six -- knowledgeable about the area and history (and the world beyond The Netherlands too.) Our tour was un-hurried so we had plenty of time to relax, shop and enjoy the beautiful views. We got lucky with weather and had a delicious lunch at a perfect spot right on a canal. Highly recommend!
Our small group of 4 ( could probably take 6) was most enjoyable. Our guide Ali was excellent, great narration while traveling to sights. He knew the people at the locations and we were given special attention. The family Cheese farm and wooden shoe factory was more interesting than I expected. The windmills were a required visit but several bus loads were there ( unavoidable) and we chose not to pay the fees to enter each windmill but that was just a personal preference. The fishing village, tour and lunch on a barge in town was enjoyable and fun. An additional small village walk through was fun. All possible due to our small group size. Ali was terrific and I would advise spending the extra money for this tour vs the large busses if you can afford to do so.
The guide was excellent, very informative about local culture. The cheese making experience was good, the automated dairy farm was very interesting. We were little rushed for time at the windmills, I would suggest an additional half hour. Overall it was a very good experience.
