Callum was a wonderful guide. He was patient and very knowledgeable and friendly. Helped us initially find him with a big yellow umbrella-brilliant! I would absolutely recommend him to friends.

Small group, very good guide, comfortable mini van for transport to and from. All interesting and really enjoyed but a few thing to be aware of: quite a bit of walking at a fairly quick pace as all things are actually at the one stop (I coped even with arthritis), and wouldn't be pleasant in bad weather. No time opportunity to buy food as quite rushed.
Outstanding!!!!! And our guide Sharon was brilliant.
Guide was wonderful- profesfional, knowledgable and fun. Highly recommended. Ideal size group and driver was also great
We had a great time on this afternoon tour. I would highly recommend it. Pickup location was easy to find and during the 20min transfer our guide pointed out the local landmarks and explained the history of the country, towns and city of Amsterdam. The tour itself was well planned, informative and fun, with plenty of time to look at the displays, shops and take photos.
There was lots to see and very interesting. We went on a Sunday & there were a lot of ppl. Our guide, Carolina? Was great and very knowledgeable.
This tour was great! The working windmills were fascinating to visit and see the inner workings. The cheese farm was a delicious experience too! Watching the shoe maker carve the wooden shoes was fun. I highly recommend this tour! Our guide was well informed and a likeable person!
I loved this tour. Would highly recommend it
Short bus ride. Very organized. Enjoyed getting the background on wooded shoes and explanation of windmills.
Incredible insight of the history of windmills, including tasting and making of Gouda cheese. Best guide David wealth of knowledge and his passion.
This was absolutely a perfect ending to a 30 day holiday trip for us. Our tour guide David was outstanding. He was friendly, very gifted in communicating, not pushing but keeping the 10+ group on track. He really made the tour interesting with his facts. Great way to see what the area used to be like. The booking process was easy. Meeting place and time was great. The tour was definitely worth the money sent. We are so glad we booked this 3.5 hour tour and thankful that David was our guide. What a lovely place and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam. There is a fair walk from the train to the Windmills but not only is it worth it but the constant smell from the chocolate factories nearby made it better! There are lots of little shops, some places to eat and a clog workshop on site and you can walk to the Windmills themselves and see the inside workings of one. Well worth some of your time.
I think you will get much more out of a visit here with a tour guide. If going on your own, it would just be a grouping of shops; with a tour guide you learn the real history of this area and becomes a much richer and more meaningful experience. Our guide lives here, so she knew the area well, and her passion for her home came through in her presentation.
It is an amazing tour and people visiting Amsterdam must do it. It’s a heritage place with some interesting stories. The old windmills are beautiful.
Travelled here using public transport (bus) Easy to do Location is beautiful Nice shops located here and plenty to see and take pictures Recommend the icecream as was delicious Roughly 1-2 hours plenty enough time to do it all
Well worth the money, beautiful little village, lots to see and experience, great gifts to be bought, lovely hot cacao! Knowledge guide!
Complete waste of money. Total tourist trap. Nothing even remotely authentic in the experience. The so called “cheese tasting “ portion of the tour consisted of shepherding the group thru a cheese shop with a small toothpick to stab a piece of cheese so minuscule it was almost invisible. In essence what u get is a ride to this fake little “farm” and u are escorted around by your driver. Our driver was kind- not her fault but a total ripoff. Don’t go.
This is a wonderful way to spend a few hours outside of Amsterdam. So much to explore and gives you a glimpse of Dutch industry over 300 years ago. Kenny was the best tour guide. Made the experience A++!
Lovely experience, watching how clogs are made & their history. Our highlight was seeing the inside of a windmill and the views. Would do it again!
Excellent tour. Maaiki was very informative and helpful . Was great to see the history of clog making, cheese making and the old windmills
We had a bad experience, with the person who undertook this tour, it was raining that day so we decided not to go and sit in the bus but that person never told us that it is a 1 point parking where they will show u 3 places and then back to amsterdam. He was neither apologetic nor sorry about the misinformation and was a bit rude also. His starting point is double tree by Hilton hotel. People need to be extra careful and clear on all aspects with this party.
Our guide made the whole tour very memorable - she was friendly and informative. The windmills are beautiful, the cheese yummy and the clog making an eye opener.
Great little trip to book if your visiting Amsterdam for a long weekend and want to see a few traditional bits outside Amsterdam Central itself. We wanted to see some Windmills, Clogs and Cheese for photo memories and this trip certainly provides those. We didn't want an all day experience so 3 hours to get some photo memories was well worth it. The guide was excellent and kept us all entertained.
This trip was one of the best guided trips we have done the guide was so informative and passionate about the area and so knowledgeable and always checking on the group
Very good overall experience, highly recommended
The inclusion of the area’s historic crafts and foods along with the history of the windmills was a very interesting and fun afternoon.
Very nice tour to see some highlights of Dutch culture. Tour guide/driver were very good and informative. Just long enough to cover everything...not too long or short. Close to Amsterdam so no time wasted to get to the location.
Guide was excellent. I would go again
This was my favorite activity I did on my entire European adventure! I loved the short timeframe that didn’t require long travel days and could still do other things the remainder of the day. My guide was informative and kept the tour moving along great. The village is so quaint and cute and is exactly what I imagined Holland would be like since my childhood. Recommend!
Our tour guide David was excellent and he was very knowledgeable, funny and great! I loved the clog demonstration and the views of the windmills were beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour!
Really great walking tour - was fortunate that not only was our tour guide knowledgeable, but she also was born there! She grew up there and still lives there today which gave her such an amazing point of view. She shared the history and heritage of the buildings and the industry, but could also convey what life was like as she’s explained some of it first hand growing up in the houses ay the location. Enjoyed all the tour stops and learned a ton - would definitely recommend!
GREAT! We enjoyed this half day experience. Starting spot was perfect way to start the morning. Guide was knowledgeable, personable, just perfect. Zaanstadt was just wonderful. Much better than other windmill areas we have been to in the past. Wood mills powered by wind, cheese making, chocolate, wooden shoes. Just a fantastic Dutch day. Only suggestion is to make it a little longer with more time to do the museum and some additional shopping.
Great experience. Our guide was excellent, the only negative was the crowd. There were multiple tours on site which made navigating the area a little bit more challenging.
What a wonderful excursion, our guide Caroline was great, she provided lots of helpful details all though the excursion.
The town was very crowded. It was quite a bit of walking. Charming & interesting though. A few great shops.
One of the best days we ever had! Sharon was absolutely wonderful as our guide we all loved her! Really enjoyed the entire experience!
Excellent! Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly & paid attention to details. Would recommend this!
GREAT experience and opportunity to get out of the city for a day. Despite the rain and cooler weather, we had a fabulous time. Jay was our tour guide and he was fun, helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Zaanse Schans felt very touristy and crowded but Jay made up for it by stopping at a local farm store off the beaten path. In fact, that stop and with the locals and the fresh fruit was probably the highlight of the tour. Absolutely would recommend this to other visitors.
Very friendly and knowledgeable guide Sharon. Visiting inside the windmills was fantastic and the cheese and clog demos were very good too.
Lots of walking but wonderful windmills and very cute town. Wish we had more free time to wander through the small shops.
This is a great 3 1/2 hour non-bike riding tour. Took about 20 minutes to get to the area where the windmills were. Transportation was comfortable and modern. David was our tour guide and did a fantastic job, giving us a lot of great information as well as history about the windmills and the Netherlands. We also enjoyed the demo on how the Dutch wooden shoes were made. The highlight of the tour, though was walking inside and up into an actual working Dutch windmill. The smaller group tour also made it quite relaxing.
Fun tour -- just three hours from start to finish, and it was perfect. The weather cooperated, and it was a beautiful day. So much to see, and our tour guide was charming and informed.
Very fun tour. You get out of the busy city and enjoy some busy countryside. Windmills are pretty wonderful. Clogs very neat to see. Cheese was tasty just quite busy. Guide was local and had lots to share.
Tooe our tour guide is delightful. Good pacing, great information and tuned in to our group of six. The little town is charming and truly made me feel like a trip back in time.
Very good value trip to see the village and windmills. Our guide Mikie was very informative, friendly and made it a very enjoyable experience.
Amazing small town embracing their past. The windmills were working hard, the cheese was great and watching them make clogs was facilitating
David was an excellent guide! He was very personable, patient, and informative. He grew up in an area of Zaanse, so he’s a bona fide local. The trip was fun and just enough time.
This small tour was awesome. We got to see and tour the working windmill, watch clog making and sample some delicious cheese. Our guide was so pleasant ant knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour.
Ray was very knowledgeable and interesting , this trip is very educational but at the same time relaxing and not rushed
Had a lovely trip seeing all of the windmills and about the village. Our guide was amazing happy friendly and very informative about the history and village.
